- Nine Inch Nails performing "The Frail" into "The Wretched" on the 2000 Fragility v2.0 tour. Filmed, edited, and directed by Rob Sheridan for the 2002 "And All That Could Have Been" DVD.
If you enjoy these upscales and other content I share, consider supporting me on Patreon, where I have a wealth of behind-the-scenes insights on projects I've worked on over the years, including this one: / 32660377
This clip has been AI-upscaled to 4K from the DVD source for better display on HD screens. This upscale is a personal experiment for my portfolio and is not affiliated with NIN or the record label. AATCHB is very hard to find these days, and I would love to see it get a release on streaming/digital. That is entirely up to Interscope/NIN, I am not involved. However, don’t hold your breath for a Blu-ray or any type of HD remaster: AATCHB was filmed with standard definition prosumer DV cameras, so a high definition source does not exist. Post-production software upscaling, as demonstrated here, would be the only way to improve the resolution of the original release. I used Topaz Video Enhance AI in two passes with a goal of preserving the raw DV look of the video at a higher resolution. More detailed information at / 61430831
To those who have asked if there would ever be any bonus material from AATCHB: The DVD already is jam-packed with every song that we were happy with the video/audio for, and all the bonus material we had. Just because other songs were played/filmed on the tour doesn’t mean the recordings we got of them were up to release standards. What was released is all there is.

This is my oldest daughters favorite NIN song and when I took her to see them live for her first NIN concert when this song came on the look of joy on her face was priceless and she said Dad, they are playing my song.. ❤😊 Great memories of this show in Minneapolis...
Haha was just thinking of the first time I heard this song ever the other day! 2008 at the Target Center. Didn’t know all of their songs yet… I do now!
I love that she's loves them 💙💙💙
She is being raised right! I was at Red Recks for their show with Soundgarden. Tickets have only got more expensive since. Keep your daughter into the good music!
@@mistastingleywe were at that show too my friend, that show was Epic Trent was dialed in and when March of the Pigs came on it was like the arena shook...
This is an amazing thing 💙💙💙
The Fragile is definitely my favorite NIN album.
Same. I remember listening for the first time as a kid and being blown away by the vibe. Nothing else like it
Same
Over the last few years, it has definitely become mine. It is an amazing album that I really never gave a chance.
One piece of art
the transition between the frail and the wretched is IMO the best musical segue EVER.
Man, what a line up. I kinda miss Jerome's long-arm swings.
I second the idea of getting this entire DVD in 4K. I want this SO BAD!!!!!
This DVD deserve a new edition in Blu-Ray 4K
No iPhone screens muddying up the crowd shots. Love it!
That bugs me so much, especially when in GA. Do what you want in the stands but I don't want a phone blocking my view of the show.
First off, love your name. Second off, Iphones, and cellphones do serve a purpose. They are a good distraction for security.
23 years later and this is still the best live show I've ever seen. Trent is a musical god and creative genius. Music now just doesn't hit the same way.
This tour was peak Robin Finck. Great guitarist with one if a kind style.
And a handsome man with cool hair 😅
He was incredible in GNR as well.
A fine example of how Trent remains relevant in the music industry to this day.
In high school we had to pick one of Shakespeare's sonnets to memorize and recite with to instramental music. I used The Frail as the background music for Sonnet 97. It really blew my teacher away because I wasnt a very good at presenting in front of people like that but somehow I killed it.
The clouds will part and the sky cracks open
And God himself will reach his fucking arm through, just push you down, just to hold you down…
Love that part gives me chills every time
Those have been my favorite lines in music since the first time I heard them.
I agree.
Totally!
The fragile show was one of the most violent and best shows ever!
This brings back so many memories. This DVD was how I convinced many of my friends at the time to listen to NIN. It was definitely a turning point in the discman playlist. Thank you for sharing this!
That whole cd the fragile was how I got a shit ton of my buddies to jam NIN great times
I had that DVD for years before learning there was hidden content on it! Fragile era was god tier!
I just wish I could have seen them live around the time the fragile was released... Definitely a hypothetical time travel destination.
Ahhh memories...I have the original dvd and love it to bits. I also love back when people had lighters instead of phones.
Ugh i despise the lit up phones especially when they put it on the lighter app , fake lighters. Cant smoke at shows anymore, rock n roll you used to count on to be dirty, smokey, taboo
@@pineapplecircus I wonder if you can still bring a lighter without the cigarettes... :D
He is so fucking good live its unbelievable
This and Woodstock 94 are the best NIN live performances.
NIN with Bowie in 95 would like a word ✌💥
Coachella in I believe 2002 or 3 was MIND BLOWING. I didn't even know NIN's music -AT ALL- and stumbled out of a giant hollow metal percussion instrument I had been stoned as fuck inside of banging on the sides hard af while people played on the outside of it to this song starting. I RAN through the crowd to the front of the crowd and head-banged in absolute joy and awe. AMAZING peak life experience.
Now I just want the whole film in 4k.
Would be really cool if one day Trent let you remaster and release a complete collection of these old perfomances in UHD. Hope you guys are still friends after all. You're also part of NIN. Thanks a lot for this treat.
God, I love how these turned out. It's subtle and natural and not goofy or weird or full of obscene halos (lul) like upscales can be sometimes.
Release the whole thing in this format and you can take my money again!!! THANK YOU ROB FOR ALL YOU DO!!!!
Oh I was thinking exactly the same thing. I am so impressed with this new high reznorlution version. First time it's been "watchable" in years. (To be clear, the resolution has never stopped me watching it. Masterpiece.)
It's on DVD, the whole concert.
@@crotalusatrox7931 Yes, but it is NOT in 4K. I know.
@@ROBOTWORKMAN Was it shot on film?
@@Jimbo1221 No 4k release...great DVD tho
Probably one of my favorite live version of the tour
Still epic.
Man, what a huge mistake it was to shoot these concerts in the 1990s on "cutting edge digital 480p cameras". Just like Pink Floyd PULSE, we will never see this in HD. Meanwhile, stuff shot on film can be converted to 4k or even 12k depending on the film, films shot even in the 1960s.
Wow!! This looks like it was shot yesterday! I love it! Also props on keeping the 4x3. Most remasters will ditch it to go widescreen but I like the whole picture is there. It’s awesome!
NO, because lighters were used to add to the atmosphere ;-)
@@Superrobila what now?
Converted many of my friends to the joys of NIN with this DVD
The best memories. thanks a lot Rob.
The best lineup, the best lights and screens, the best concept art between song transitions, the best tour, the best DVD by far. The best director.
I saw this tour. It remains the best concert I have ever been to.
My favorite tour of any band of all time. My parents were in a cult and I was too young to go anyway. this song meant a lot to me. only heard it at friends houses. I could feel this.Turns out this is what life is actually like.
Being a huge fan of NIN it's great to see this gem "remastered" again. I can't forget a high school trip on the bus and listening to on the radio about this live dvd which I was craving for it for so long since Closure wasn't available "legaly". Very uderrated DVD but it changed my life forever. I also used Topaz for remastering "old" shows and this was in my list for remastering by myself af 8k/60fps to be played on modern displays. It is still so fuckingly and shockingly filmed and mounted that in my opinion is the best NIN show ever profesionally recorded.
It was and it is an amazing DVD, remember watching this over and over, go for the full dvd in 4K, please!
Thank you so much! This is the best NIN era🥺
Just a reflection
Just a glimpse, just a little reminder
Of all the what abouts
And all the might have co-co-could have beens
Another day, some other way
But not another reason to continue
And now you're one of us, the wretched (the wretched)
The hopes and prays
The better days
The far aways
Forget it (forget it, forget it)
It didn't turn out the way you wanted it to
It didn't turn out the way you wanted it to, did it?
It didn't turn out the way you wanted it to
It didn't turn out the way you wanted it to, did it?
Now you know
This is what it feels like
Now you know
This is what it feels like
The clouds will part and the sky cracks open
And God himself will reach his fucking arm through
Just to push you down, just to hold you down
Stuck in this hole with the shit and the piss
And it's hard to believe it could come down to this
Back at the beginning
Sinking, spinning
And in the end we still pretend
The time we spend, not knowing when
You're finally free and you could be
But it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to
It didn't turn out quite the way that you wanted it
Now you know
This is what it feels like
Now you know
This is what it feels like
Now you know (now you know)
This is what it feels like (this is what it feels like)
Now you know (now you know)
This is what it feels like (you can try to stop it but it keeps on coming)
(You can try to stop it but)
Thank you for this, Rob. I wasn't old enough to have gone to the concert, so its amazing to experience part of it.
Looks and sounds bigger than life
Amazing stuff
I was 20, in college, and in love. In love with the girl next to me and the sound blasting out of the speakers.
Best show ever w A Perfect Circle opening that tour! Was at the Anaheim show in June 2000. 🔥❤️
NIN live audio is always on point. You can hear each instrument clearly every time
Such an amazing tour, caught back to back shows in Houston and Dallas. Got a broken key from one of the keyboards Trent smashed, still one of my most prized possessions. This remaster looks and sounds fantastic!!!
Folks, I think we have to start a petition ...
Flawless, I honestly felt like if I was in the show, thank you Rob for the 4K version of this, happy 20th anniversary to AATCHB.
This was the DVD that introduced me into the world of NIN.
Honestly, all I have is a thank you to you, Trent and the rest of the crew for your production and performances for this masterpiece.
i was at the show in STL for this tour. can't believe its been 23yrs
So jealous
Wow. Still have the DVD: amazing quality for its time, even more considering it was made with prosumer and off the shelf gear and software.
One of theft reasons I still have a DVD player around...
So glad I got to see this tour... NIN at their prime.
Fucking amazing. Thanks for doin this Rob. We want more.
Yeah I saw this show, I reme
mber APC, they were after! I remember seeing head like a hole, in MTV in the late 80’s. I think it was 1989! Was a fan ( not a
psyofan)! I couldn’t live without NiN! 💔my Ex loved Nin, not with us anymore! It suck’s
la mejor banda que tuvo NIN, un lujo cada uno en su interpretación
Yoooo this is WILD. Awesome job with the upscale. I was planning on doing an upscale myself using a mix of hardware and software, but your results blow my attempts out of the water lol.
Remember the first time I watched this dvd. Was really high and al thise strobe light came to me from an old crt. Damn that’s was a great feeling.
Keep ‘em coming
Best live band I’ve seen.
sooooooo good, now do Reptile plz!!!!
That little riff at 4:17 gets me fucked up every time goddamn
So good! Thank you!
fuck yeah Rob.
I saw this tour in Worcester , this looks cleaner than live. Great great job.

Absolutely love this song.
Ahh, I would have loved to have seen this tour. Please post more 🤘🍻
Such a massive track
Danny never ceases to be a chad.
Wow! I've never seen this live before. I love NIN. Thanks Rob for this jewel!
Holy shit, the quality is so good! Thank you! Amazing
I think it looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing both the video and the methods you used. Cool to know that anyone could do this, with the right toys...
Oh hellz yeah😎🤘
You’re spoiling us today Rob😎 Thank You so much😎👏👏👏👍
Gives me chills!! Sooooooo good!!!! Flawless!!!
2 great songs in one wonderful package.
My favorite band.
I was there. I've seen so many live shows since then, but to date, this is still best live show I've ever been to.
every time i play NIN feels like they bring me to my dream
Looks great. Was lucky to see this show in Phoenix, box seats, center.
Welcome Genius!💪❤️
Can’t wait to see you in Cleveland in September!!! With Ministry!!!!!!
This is peak NIN right here. Perfect mix of Musical sophistication with youthful rage/angst still fueling everything. Sadly, trends music got a little samey/drony after this period.
Industrial rock🤟🏿
i really love you alll
Objectivement The Downward Spiral est le meilleur album de NIN. Subjectivement c’est The Fragile.
This comment is for Bobby S. First time, long time. I’ve surely seen this DVD more times than any other media ever released. This actually made me feel something in my brain during the first few seconds. Not emotional. Like literally some shit popped. It’s happened before; and it’s often during epiphanies…or does it unclog some plaque up there and free up some yummy neuro juice that leads me to believe I’ve had a profound experience. Alas Mr. S; even working with 75 inches of high end budget level Tcl 6 series glory; this looks incredible. I don’t know how stuff works. I think their is a podcast called how stuff works; but I don’t believe it’s the answer. Apparently you can make old stuff better without faking it. I thought studios really just wanted to sell everything again and improvements would be rather BS.
That is likely the case sometimes; but not with you guy behind the guy doing stuff. I enjoyed this a lot. I swear something did pop up there. Doesn’t hurt; perhaps the fifth time it’s happened over several years. That’s pretty rad that even a Chinese TV couldn’t prevent you from giving me another mini stroke. You rule. If I lose sensation somewhere then YOU may be the giver of what ultimately leads to a diagnosis…..that would make you my guardian Angel or something. Is that what guardian angels do? I talked my way out of the Methodism thing by age 8.
No bother. If you’re not Rob: Hey. How’s it going? Stop reading now, cool, you too.
Bobby can you make me old homemade porn 4K? Those were better days…she’s super pretty and would totally consent. Upscaling would quiet the mind for who knows how long. I should have said, yes. True story.
Oh wow this was better than I expected when I saw your tweets about it
(Not that I doubted your abilities, I doubted the source material. Needed to clarify lol)
yeah boy! trent drenched with emotions
I was at this show in new orleans. It was my friends birthday and he took the good red gel tabs. I nearly stepped on paz lenchantin before the show as she ate her lunch on the steps outside.
💖
🙌🏼🔥🙌🏼
A pleasant surprise in my UA-cam feed today. I no longer have the DVD but remember when it came out. I would have been near the end of my undergrad uni course at the time. Fragile album got me into NIN. I still admire Trents ability as a composer but don't feel the need to hear his lyrics any more.
Lighters better than cell phones.
Sinking....Spinning
Welcome to my hell.
4:21 best feeling ever
Hi, amazing quality!. I would love to see "Gave Up" amazing Sound lights that Song.
always loved this DVD and thought it was rad AF it was just done with some Canons during the tour, if I recall correctly...
