OK, let’s be clear. The Constellation is the red-headed stepchild of the US tier 8 premium battleships. Alabama is just the shy, quiet one sitting in the corner that everyone forgets about.
@@stefanocrosazzo3262 To be fair, the German battle cruiser line has shown the viability of this style of battle cruiser, so I don’t disagree with you. But between Massachusetts, Alabama, and Constellation, Connie is the odd one out. And, we’re only talking premium ships. If you throw in the tech tree BBs, then Kansas is definitely the ugly stepsister.
I love my constellation, but I must admit it's large number of faults. It's range is short comparatively to other 16 inch gun tier 8 ships, even after the addition of range via equipment. It has poor armor, expected of a battle cruiser, in addition to its massive sides that eat up shells. It's speed is excellent though. Frankly if the ship had a 5km range improvement, it would be far better. The fact it's shorter range forces you to go into closer combat, allowing those closer combat ships to spot for their bigger friends behind them, makes it a living hell to play in my opinion.
Up until last year when my grandfather passed away, my dad's side of the family lived in Mobile. Literally, the only battleships I can think of that are shorter then the South Dakota class in World War Two are the American standard classes, and ships that were built during world war 1. What’s impressive was they were able to fit nine 16” guns and twenty 5” guns on something that small.

While going to the State of Florida for Summer Vacation, we had stopped in Mobile, Alabama and toured the U.S.S. Alabama (BB-60). Im hoping that one day soon, I'll go back and take the tour again. ❤
One of the things I like about this video is when Jingles goes into teacher-mode. I do like his vast knowledge when it comes to naval vessels. Don't ever stop giving us rich knowledge, Mr. Jingles.
When I was in the Boy Scouts we spent a night on the USS Alabama, touring and having the run of the ship for the day before and after. It was huge and we had a lot of fun. Despite how big it was the bunk rooms were very cramped. They stacked beds (more like hammocks) 3, sometimes 4 bunks high, and not much hallway space in between. It would have been interesting to see just how many people lived and slept in one of those bunk rooms.
Jingles went into great length explaining how the South Dakotas were more well armored and compact vs the North Carolinas but he forgot to mention that since they had more crew and less living space they were some of the most cramped bbs in service.
The Alabama should receive a general cooldown buff. The cooldowns are awfully slow for the fact that the crew aboard the ship cooperates like a family.
The lucky A is a beautiful ship and I'm glad to see it be featured again. I personally have been on her at the museum in Mobile Alabama and cannot recommend seeing her enough. She is so massive it takes more than 4 hours just to tour her so if you do plan on seeing her, go early in the day.

Thanks Mingles... Brings back a bit of my childhood... spent many of hours playing on the Alabama and the USS Drum there in Mobile Alabama. Normally on the way to Pensacola beach. ( Which has a great Naval aviation museum ) if you make it that way one day.
“Visually they look very similar” Jingles, really? I made that mistake exactly once. They look NOTHING alike. North Carolina is significantly larger, has 2 funnels to South Dakota’s 1, and has a sparse 2 part superstructure to the large pyramid shaped superstructure of the South Dakota.
I think he was intending to compare the Alabama to the Massy. That comment out of the way I frankly like the look of the North Carolina, much more elegant. Her only drawback is armor intended to protect against 14" fire vs the 16" that she should have. But still, as originally designed she and Washington were intended to mount 14" guns similar to those in the Tennessee and New Mexico and USN armor doctrine called for her to be armored to protect against her own main battery. Up gunning to the 16"/45 meant that the doctrine ended up in the wastebasket. She should have been armored to stand up to the 15" and 16" guns mounted in European and Japanese battleships, ships she might have ended up facing if history had run differently. BTW, the 2,700 lb "superheavy" 16" round meant that EVERY USN battleship armed with 16"/45 cal or 16"/50 cal guns could overmatch their own armor, at least until Montana arrived (assuming it was built.) So much for doctrine.
@@robertf3479 Massachusetts is my closest battleship, but I've been to the North Carolina and she's absolutely gorgeous. I'm weird, these massive weapons of war and destruction, and I think they're pretty. There's something artistic about them.
@@Hoshimaru57 Agree with you. I've visited the North Carolina and am about half an hour from the Wisconsin. I don't know which I like more, the NC or the Iowa class ships. I've taken part in exercises, operating in company with Iowa and like the way she cut through the water with that destroyer like hull (long and narrow.) I've also watched from nearby as Iowa fired broadsides in practice and a couple of years later as Whiskey and Missouri fired live single and two gun salvoes into Iraqi positions. Even from a couple of miles away, the concussion of the guns has to be felt to be believed, and even single shots lit up the night sky like a thunderstorm. There is nothing weird about you at all.

Minor point about ALABANA's turret face plates. According to the test results, there plates were single solid 19" (483 mm) Class "B" armor tilted back at 35 degrees. To my knowledge, all of the new US WWII battleships used homogeneous, ductile Class "B" armor instead of the usual faced-hardened Class "A", as used in all other 20th Century Dreadnought battleships. Originally this was done for the NORTH CAROLINAs and SOUTH DAKOTAs because the new "Thick Chill" (55% face depth) being developed could not made in the thicknesses of 16" (406 mm) and up, desired. Simultaneously, it was found that the new battleship AP shells just being developed, including the super-heavy ("20% overweight") shell, were much stronger than originally designed for, and the impact angles on a tilted-back turret reduced the damage-causing effects of the hard plate face so much that the Class "B" plates, which were less brittle, were actually stronger against these new shells. Thus the ALABAMA had those super-thick (outside of YAMATO) face plates. Prior to this and even afterwards, all of the new battleship turret face plates had been made of two layers, a very thick one with a thin one bolted to its back surface to form a single plate The turret face plates also varied somewhat in total thickness from 18-19" (457-493 mm). It seems that such very thick faces were beyond the ability of the US naval armor manufacturers to make at the start of WWII, though plates of this thickness or more for the MONTANA Class were developed and tested later on.
The bore to barrel length ratio is called caliber in naval gunnery, but is called length in army artillery. I was a 13 Bravo in the army, crewed on an M109A6 Paladin. The newer M109A7 Paladin has a 50 caliber gun tube. As it was explained to me when I was going through basic/ait at Ft. Sill, what that means for us Redlegs is that the gun tube is 50 times as long as one 155mm HE round is wide. So if you lay down 50 155mm HE rounds, that would be how long our gun tube is.
Jingles you should come visit the Alabama and the USS Drum. It's a fantastic tour and part of the barbette has been cut open so you can see the workings of the guns. I'm sure a bunch of us would love to meet you and have a beer at the Bluegill afterwards and introduce you to "shrimp and grits".
I know that Småland is hard to pronounce, an easier (and slight, only by minimal measures) more close is to pronounce the a (å) as an o. Like 'Smoland'. And thanks for all the content, you have a contagious laugh.

Ahhhh jingles never change. Jingles: “here comes the North Carolina not showing nearly enough respect to these American sixteen inch super heavy shells.” Everybody: “Jingles that’s a Lepanto”.
The Nth Carolina and the Washington were originally planned to mount 12 x12" guns in three quad barrelled turrets to meet the Washington Treaty limitations. Once the restrictions were lifted, they were redesigned for the triple 16" that were planned for the SODAKs.
Alabama was my very first premium ship(not counting the Sims I got for buying the beta test package). It really can hold it's own at bottom tier better than most other BB's
A search for the battlecruisers that sank in Jutland showed the possibility the handling of charges and shells during the battle may have slacked during the battle allowing the huge explosions that sank them, so it opens up the posssibility the battlecruiser MAY have been a decent idea. But no one will know since the idea was scrapped since then.
My dude knows how to handle the Bama. Did you see those tight maneuvers in the islands? That's using the rudder and turning radius to good affect. Nicely played.
What’s funny about the Alabama vs tripitz, is in ww2, the Alabama was part of a battle group sent to lure out the tripitz, she didn’t take the bait and the engagement never happened. Although world of warships is just a game, I wonder if the encounter happened in real life, would the outcome between the ships be the same
Didn't they send out Washington as well to try the same thing? Or was that North Carolina? Been a long day, my memory is tired also and I'm far too lazy at the moment to look it up. Ha.
The dispersion is just horrid. I got roma flashbacks. The guy literally carried the ship, instead of the other way around with his great positioning and maneuvering. The damage for the way he aimed and the broadsides he had access to, doesn't do him any justice. Thoroughly enjoyable match apart from the way those damn shells were landing.
If I was going to buy a premium ship, it would be the Alabama. I grew up two hours east of Mobile, Alabama, where the ship is a monument. I toured that ship more times than I can count. Then I joined the Navy and volunteered submarines When I was transferred off of my first boat, I asked for a Trident submarine. And I got one. The USS Alabama.
I won the Alabama in a random container and was pretty happy about it. Got a crazy solo warrior in it thanks mainly to the fast rudder shift. Guns are very inconsistent but a pretty solid ship.
Please feel free to call the Attilio Regolo the “Roman Eagle,” which is the direct translation. If you remember the Roman legion with the banner and the golden eagle on the flagpole? Yeah, that
i ran a battle recently that had a yamato, minnesota, and bismark wondering who sent them to the bottom of the ocean. the alabama turning radius and shift time playing big roles in such events and ended the battle with just short of 140k

The movie "Under Siege" was filmed aboard the USS Alabama. In fact the i beams used to transport the missles are still aboard it today.
Thanks Mingles... Brings back a bit of my childhood... spent many of hours playing on the Alabama and the USS Drum there in Mobile Alabama. Normally on the way to Pensacola beach. ( Which has a great Naval aviation museum ) if you make it that way one day.
"And the battleship Marseille"... Oh Jingles, never change
The correct identifier is "the abomination Marseille."
“Visually they look very similar”
Jingles, really?
BTW, the 2,700 lb "superheavy" 16" round meant that EVERY USN battleship armed with 16"/45 cal or 16"/50 cal guns could overmatch their own armor, at least until Montana arrived (assuming it was built.)
So much for doctrine.
@@Hoshimaru57 They were elegant and beautiful... Form follows function... Just like there is never been a great fighter plane that was ugly, all the really good Battleships and Cruisers were very attractive ships... At least in this old sailors opinion.
Golfman is a stand up guy for the community, and a fellow ffg 33 player, my hat goes off to him for this match, and to you Jingles for showcasing it. Was a nice surprise to see this.
The USS Alabama is a beautiful ship. I've toured it twice in Mobile Bay with my kids. They couldn't get over the size of it. Oh yeah: I'm not Dave!
of course you are Dave, it's Jingles and he has deemed you Dave. :p
I just finished yesterday's Mingles with Jingles
Then this comes out
I can't get enough of this man 🤣
...That's what she said.
Indeed
If you ever get a chance you need to come actually see bb-60 in person. She's a museum ship now in Mobile Alabama.
Can confirm, plus they don’t kick you out after closing time cuz the ships so damn big, so you could stay overnight if you felt so inclined. That might be looked down on though
@@ichheisseralf5057 ever been?
Gotta say old man, I'm subbed to a handful of people who do youtube full time, but you are the only one who has strength of upload schedule. Even if you just skipped one weekday per week at random it'd still outclass pretty much everyone else. What's more is I've known some people who you could really tell were phoning their videos in, and even if you don't care about a video I can never really tell. In short, someone of your professionalism is rare among youtube full time creators. I find myself trying to save your videos for later cause I like them so much, I don't want to waste them on a morning before work.
Growing up, I had a Viewmaster set of the USS Alabama. A few years ago, I finally got to tour it in person, and it was very nice. I was surprised at how small it felt compared to the Yorktown. I got to spend the night on that one with my son and his Cub Scout Pack.
If ever possible I would have Jingles do a meditation podcast where he just talks all things WoW. Definatly worth! Great video as always!
I have the pleasure of living near this ship now. It's always a sight to see when you pass it. And yes, I am rather fond when they string the Christmas lights all along it during the season.
When I use to play. By far my favorite US battleship
Jingles you just don't know how much happy I am to see such a game ,where a ship like the Alabama is shown that she can still kick a**. Awesome job Ntggolfman, really made me fell great seeing this battle
Happy to see a ship I’ve set foot on get some attention on your channel! Cheers!
Love the bama. Definitely one of my favorite premiums to run. She rocks
I’m very lucky to have moved to Daphne directly across the Bay we’re she sits. It’s awesome to drive by her every day at different times, so I always get a new view of her.
Kremlin to Alabama "hallo comrade have some vodka"
Wish he would have mentioned that you can actually go to the uss Alabama and see it in person in Alabama since it’s a museum ship
That 48% Torpedo protection certainly comes handy whenever there's submarines nearby.
Golfman is in my clan on the NA server! Thank you for showing him!!
Hell yeah ntg golfman...a super person and a great human being
I know that Småland is hard to pronounce, an easier (and slight, only by minimal measures) more close is to pronounce the a (å) as an o. Like 'Smoland'. And thanks for all the content, you have a contagious laugh.
Loved the video @The Mighty Jingles! Can't wait for the next video man! Glad to see "Big Mammie" get some time in the Spotlight on World of Warships! Wonder if there's a Replay of an Alabama or Massachusetts Player providing Anti-Aircraft Protection for an Essex-class Carrier player (Lexington CV-16, Yorktown CV-10, Intrepid CV-11, Hornet CV-12, Bennington CV-20 and Essex CV-9) or an Enterprise Player?
I went to see this ship a few times as a kid, and drive past her on my way to work daily. Even from a distance she still looks formidable.
as someone from mobile who works in spanish fort, i also love seeing her daily
Wow, I think this might be the first time you’ve ever featured Alabama in a video.
Uhhh, Jingles… That North Carolina looks an awful lot like the Lepanto at 10:49.
Oh Jingles, you’re so silly. Never change.
Ahhhh jingles never change.
Jingles: “here comes the North Carolina not showing nearly enough respect to these American sixteen inch super heavy shells.”
Everybody: “Jingles that’s a Lepanto”.
The Nth Carolina and the Washington were originally planned to mount 12 x12" guns in three quad barrelled turrets to meet the Washington Treaty limitations. Once the restrictions were lifted, they were redesigned for the triple 16" that were planned for the SODAKs.
Is the Alabama sinking her sister ship?😏😏
this better be top comment
The sound quality is great! Your voice in this video is just silky and smooth!
Was just there! They are replacing the deck with new wood. So nice!
Thanks for explaining 45 and 50 caliber
Alabama was my very first premium ship(not counting the Sims I got for buying the beta test package). It really can hold it's own at bottom tier better than most other BB's
The reyolo for the Italian dd nickname
Loved going to visit her museum in Alabama, she is a real beauty. If you ever get the chance to visit these ships, I highly recommend it.
Driven past this ship a bunch of times when I pass through the state on I-10 and I've never stopped.
TSK TSK TSK.
You should stop and visit her at least once.
0:30 Well, if it's got a whole lot of that red hair, I guess you could call it...a crimson tide.
Nothing like soliciting a Jingles chuckle with my play. Once I remembered what match this was I was just hoping he wouldn't notice lol.
Another battleship video from Jingles. Another W
“We’re here with NTGGolfMan.”
Ah, one of the FFG leaders, which means NA Server replay.
I’m only afraid of what happens during this match.
“Pocket” battleship. Coolest tour I’ve been on, pretty much you can roam all over the ship.
My dude knows how to handle the Bama. Did you see those tight maneuvers in the islands? That's using the rudder and turning radius to good affect. Nicely played.
CV actually moves and flips a cap? Good job hornet!
Since nobody else would say it,’ Roll tide!’
18:30 Kleber not doing anything to survive and win. chat in the meantime: Kleber Yolo :D
Love seeing the USS Alabama every time I drive through Mobile. She's quite a lovely lady.
*sees Lepanto* "there's the North Carolina" um... Jingles? is the pasta getting to your head?
Jingles, at the end of this week I have to put my dog down. Your video's are a way for me to escape thinking about that got a while Thank you.
Ha.
@@trostorff1 they tried several things to get rid of the tripitz, I don’t know if the Washington was tasked with that, but perhaps
I got to tour the ship a few years back. They take good care of her.
I have the Alabama and the North Carolina, both are great. Alabama is a sleeper and a prize.
My favorite ship ever. Love BB60
Thanks Jingles.
Sweet home Ala-BAM-ba
Please feel free to call the Attilio Regolo the “Roman Eagle,” which is the direct translation. If you remember the Roman legion with the banner and the golden eagle on the flagpole? Yeah, that
"Big wheels keep on turnin'" :)
Tier 10 Italian DD named.... $^# oH will just call it "Dave"
Stress the E and a hard G on Regolo (E like Belt and G like Goal) and you're spot on!
Sweet Home Alabama! BTW, been to the ship! It's docked in Mobile, Alabama.
A fun game to Watch, well played..
a few weeks ago i was visiting the uss Alabama it was pretty good
i ran a battle recently that had a yamato, minnesota, and bismark wondering who sent them to the bottom of the ocean. the alabama turning radius and shift time playing big roles in such events and ended the battle with just short of 140k
Love my Alabama. You can keep your Mass.
Wish I had enemies like that who only show broadside and nothing else.
This replay shows exactly the state of the game these days. Too many unexperienced noobs on the seas!
