      @@gmanbo Well to be fair, Portugal could mock the French, the Spanish and England. I mean, Brazil IS quite noteworthy of consideration considering its the largest country in SA (which funny enough, actually has more square miles of dry real estate compared to the US by about 300,000 miles squared) and they speak Portuguese. Let that sink in. Of all of the nations that have been brought up by the expansion of European power, this fairly small country in Europe led to the propagation of one of the larger countries by land mass (minus shoreline). And its not 99 percent covered by desert lol.

    • @gmanbo
      @gmanbo 2 роки тому +2

      @@venomous2die4 agreed in principle. We can quibble about details if you want but the main point was. Sure the anglo sphere if rather powerful. But the French unlike the silly English kept up the practice of being a near( they would say actual) independent pole in the world. The Portuguese became of British ally/protectorate and the Spanish lost quite a bit of there colonial nature after the Spanish civil war right before WW2.
      The French lost the first round of WW2 but when they popped back up. They sought to be more independent of the united States influence. the French kept there colonial possessions longer fought harder to keep them and still retain a great deal of influence in large parts of Africa.
      In a sense france never gave up being a colonial power. + Ever since the Suez crises the French have made it policy not to be too dependent on the Americans.

Obviously, in French it's a bit more sublte than Con-day. The con-part is basically pronounced without really pronouncing the -n, although your mouth should be "getting ready" to say the -n, but not put your tongue against the inside of your gums as you would when pronouncing the n as in No. Similarly for the -dé part: start of by saying day, but don't make the -j sound at the end. Loved the video @The Mighty Jingles! Can't wait for the next video man! 56 knots is Extremely Quick for a Warship, Even if it's a Heavy Cruiser. The Condé after getting the 4th dose of the Speed Increased perk would be going 64.4 Miles per hour. Jesus Christ, I think if @Daniel Rusev found himself coming up against one of These Ships while playing the Manfred von Richtoven, he'd either be Dead or wasting time and getting shot at by someone else on the Enemy team.

    Living in Kentucky, I admit I chuckled a bit at his pronunciation of Appalachian. Most folks I know will sound like they're saying "appa latch un" when they say it.
    Other than that, I love fast ships and even in reverse that thing was a beast. Good show.

      Jingles stated toward the end the ship covered twelve km in less than 1-1/2 minutes. That's a real world speed of 480 kph (298.258 mph).

    ACKSHULLY, Jingles... Condé is said CON-day. Famous French noble family & region, IIRC. With the accent on the “e”, think back to the naval wardroom on your ship, and the Pâté de Foie Gras served up alongside the grog for snacktime.
