- INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 7-5-24 2;35 am approx
LOCATION: SB I-5 @ Ceasar Chavez Parkway
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:
The two U.S. Marines were driving southbound on the I-5, heading back to their base. They told us that they were behind an ambulance, which suddenly swerved to the right.
Suddenly, a male pedestrian was in front of them, and they struck him. An SDPD officer was driving behind them and struck the rear of the truck as the truck was blacked out in the #3 lane.
The male pedestrian ended up under the truck and was deceased. None of the people in the vehicles were injured. The freeway has been shut down, and traffic is backing up. As of 3:15 am, traffic is still stuck in the southbound lanes.

Homeless crossing the freeway at night to get to there camp on side of the freeway. this is why caltrans should remove all of the camps on the side of the freeway in San Diego,CALIF...
Seeing people walking on the freeway in San Diego is a common occurrence now. It didn't used to be this way. Hope the city finds a way to discourage this. RIP the victim and condolences to the drivers who found themselves having to deal with this situation
He may have jumped from ambulance it's happened before
There are caution signs for pedestrians on highways because decades ago migrants were running across lanes
The city can now ban homeless camps on and in public areas. The reason CA’s homeless is among the highest is thanks to the ultra liberal 9th Circuit that ruled homeless camps are fine hunky dory. 6 Supreme Court justices struck down that ridiculous ruling. NutScum Newsom has been crying for 7 years his hands are tied because of that ruling, but now he can’t cop out! And he still needs to account for that $24 BILLION that’s gone missing. The 3 who said sleeping shouldn’t be a crime are the three liberal female justices. Maybe they should be given a tour on foot of the egregious camps here in CA. Better yet let some homeless people set up camp on their front yards.
Terrible situation. Thanks for the coverage. Be safe out there 😢
Much appreciated
@@911VideoNews Excellent footage, Doug!
One of my biggest fears. I find myself using my brights in the dark curves. I’ve come upon homeless folks running across lanes early in the morning on my way to work. Lucky for them I’m not a person that speeds.
Especially the 8west to 163north..smdh..rip
Another preventable accident. The freeway is no place for a stroll. Condolences to the drivers involved.
Maybe he jumped from ambulance
@@bevcamren1316The ambulance swerved to avoid hitting the pedestrian. How would the pedestrian be in the ambulance?
@@jaymez858 I saw it happen on live pd once...geez man
When i drive down there at night. Think I’ll stick closer to the middle lanes
If you get hit with a car, you usually go over. If you get it with a truck, you get dragged under.
Unless you square up like you gonna break a tackle , you get clung to the grille. Ask me how I know...
@@SimplyCali619 How about getting by a train???

.. Walking in the Freeway not anymore, on my way to Imperial Beach I see homeless people with shopping carts 🛒 on the 2nd line, scared me out of the 💩
Nothing good happens at 2:35am
Truer words have never been spoken. Ask any 7-Eleven employee
How fast or close where they driving at 2-3am????
Ped alley. Thanks for the footage Doug!
Prayers.
Again, a posted sign “pedestrians prohibited on freeways” don’t mean sh** to most people. They’re on a suicide mission & in this case mission accomplished.
@@tbone3972 and there you have it they're looking for their own suicide
Its interesting how much goes (intentionally) unreported by the powers that be. You are doing the Lorda work, keeping our eyes open. Thank you.
Prayers for the victim, and their family.
It really is. There is a LOT of money in the automotive and related industries. They have a vested interest in severely downplaying automobile related damages/injuries/fatalities
Lol the dude at the end asking “so what do you do”…fkn comedy. Fucking reporting on shit that no other media covers! That’s what :)
What are you talking about? The main stream media can’t cover every death that occurs. This is a night stalker channel that sells marketable media to the main srtream. You just see the cutting room floor here.
Question Doug: Do try to edit out when people try to ask you why you are filming?
I actually enjoy how to handle them when the conversation is left in from other videos.
I simply turn off the camera if people are bugging me.
People don't realize how many feet per second a vehicle at highway speed's is moving and can't stop in time.
Yes, and I don't realize even when you're on regular roads and people wanna pull out from the side street their response if they're involved in an accident is, didn't you see me coming out?
@@donnasherba2790 Tell me about it. I drive for a living so I deal with the worst of driver's on a daily basis.
At the end the cop is like , so what do you do? “ YOUVE GOT THE WHOLE SAN DIEGO. OVERED THATS WHAT you DO 😎
Great video
😮..🙏🏼🕊️
Things you can never unsee.
What's odd about this story is that a couple of the local stations had it on their website, it's vanished or been so nerfed that it's impossible to tell what happened.
Trust us, we were there. 10, Fox5, and KUSI weren't. NBC7,KFMB 8, and KBNT 15 used my video and info.
So this is why my exit was blocked
Please I don’t think they realize how many times this happens! I called SDPD 2 months ago because someone jumped into the freeway from this SAME ON RAMP to the I-5!!! There’s encampments right next it, I literally almost crashed same reason and made cars stop. I can go on I have a few more horror stories similar on the 94 east too!
Did our new friend score his meth first?
I'm trying to read all of the 100 comments. However, how did his body (rip) end up under the truck that ended up being hit by the cop car? Soooo many questions 🤔. The truck hit dude, then he flew. Then the cop hit the truck hard enough to where the truck skid perfectly over him?
Was the victim from the blacked out truck?
Deceased was a pedestrian that the truck did not have time to avoid...read from description
The second Jay walker killed this year (that I've heard of the first was off of El Cajon Blvd) Jay walking is no longer illegal in California. That law definitely needs to come back.

So Mr policeman was DRIVING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS and was cited? Arrested for contributing to collision resulting in death?
Nah, they got a bonus and some paid leave
Skill issue
Skill?
More like walking on the highway while intoxicated.
@@warpedweirdo so a skill issue then since he couldn't handle his alcohol
@@LicPlate8VPL158 Alcohol? More likely fentanyl nowadays, but whatever. Also, I wouldn't consider "ability to handle your booze" a skill; more of a tolerance thing.
Id love to know how this turns out because if it was you or me in the cops spot they would say its our fault because we were going to fast for the conditions and weren't able to avoid hitting the truck but because its a cop probably a diff rule and i totally support the cops always
They'll probably get a raise.
Ok, sure, one may ponder why there was a pedestrian on the highway, conversely why were the jarheads driving in the dark wee hours of the morning?
The driver turned off the engine after the crash.
@@911VideoNews Still a bad idea to sit there in the dark, though. A normal, careful person would have switched the hazard lights on.
Hmmm 🤔 something seem off or just me?
Just you.
Thinning of the herd.
Cops were mad that this was being filmed 😂
Not at all
I don't think that was the cops talking to Doug at 1:50.
Hey put a warning on your video before UA-cam do it for you
Still the Marines fault. He should obey the rules of driving like everyone else.
Seriously?
There was a man in the traffic lanes of the freeway in total darkness. Did you read the description?
Procedures for people walking on california freeways are not found in the DMV handbook "
@@TheThemattyo1 still why was he following the ambulance like that.
So if I decide to have a picnic in the middle lanes and get struck . . is it the driver's fault for not obeying the rules? Ayy bendecko
Even more issues w/you people out there huh?🫤 Leme guess, cop got into a road rage fit w/another idiot & decided to pop'm unfortunately?
Or you could read the description and find out you’re wrong.🤦🏻♀️
