Witnesses told the CHP that the male driver of the truck was speeding as he was heading northbound on the I-5. They said, that he swerved and hit the Mercedes with its two occupants.
Both vehicles went into the Plaza Blvd on-ramp to the northbound I-5. The Mercedes then left the freeway and tumbled down into a drainage ditch and landed on its side. The truck stayed on the on-ramp.
Good Samaritans went to the aid of the male driver and female passenger in the car and also pulled out two cats. The male and female were both transported to a local hospital with the male having serious injuries and the female having moderate injuries. The male from the truck was tested for DUI and passed the testing.
I'll be hated for this, but I believe sometimes accidents are just that. An accident. I see people speeding all the time. For the people that are saying Reckless, bullies, piece of shit I call bullshit on you. You didn't see it happen so how can you call this guy out? There is so many drunk drivers, drivers on the influence of a substance and just as bad if not worse is hit and run. This guy did none of these things. I say he's a man who stayed and took responsibility for his actions which is something not seen often. Good for you!!

No, speeding is selfish disregard for the lives of others. You DON'T 'own the road'. You have to SHARE the road.

But maybe he would've kept going if his truck tire wasn't messed up? We don't know his mindset. I've seen a lot of awful drivers. Two different times we were driving in the regular lane with cars passing us in the passing lane, which is normal. All of a sudden, someone was passing us on our RIGHT side...off the road!! They went out of their way to put us and everyone else in danger just to get ahead of us! And it's not like we were going slow. They swerved back on the road in front of us just in time to miss the beginning of a guard rail. Could've been reeeeeally bad for so many on the highway! Yes, we speed but we stay aware of our surroundings. We keep an eye on all other drivers and make sure we have a buffer zone between us and the people in front of us. You have to be respectful to others and know stupidity takes just a second to change someone else's life or your own. Hope everyone involved in this accident heals, not just physically, but also mentally.
Speeding and driving reckless is insanely selfish, the minimal time saved by driving fast isn't worth the potential risk to other drivers. Wake up idiots, the world doesn't revolve around you!

3:42 * 2 per day * 5 days per week * 4.5 weeks per month = 2.775 hours saved per month!
Except... things don't work out this way. We're assuming a 75mph AVERAGE speed, which means we will actually be going a LOT faster quite a bit of the time to make up for the slow douche bags that get in your way and the stop lights on the beginning and ending segments of our route.
In reality, 75mph on San Diego highways during non-congested times is usually *safer* than 65mph; 75mph tends to be middle-of-the-road speeds on SD highways, minimizing speed differentials between your vehicle and surrounding traffic.
Go with the flow, and keep a safe following distance.

Thank goodness the cats were the ones under that blanket. At first glance it looked like a toddler car seat. Covered by a blanket made it seem like it was a deceased child. Had I not read the description I would have believed it to be a child. But, it was the cats. Better cats injured than a child. What I don't understand is why this channel did not give any details on the video screen. How hard would it be to add some text? Or audio. Watching a complicated scene like this would be so much easier if you didn't have to read the description first to know what's going on. Also, no additional information as to the aftermath of this accident. Just makes these videos prompt more questions than answers. More effort please!
It’s called an accident for a reason 😫 everyone jumping to conclusions 😒not knowing the actual cause. Older drivers aren’t the best drivers in the world (I’m 50 before anyone comes for me) . Maybe it’s his skin color that makes him at fault 😡 and not the other people. These comments are so typical when an accident occurs 🤔 and it’s some of color is involved. And yes I’ve had this happen to me and I wasn’t found at fault. It was the non POC to be at fault and everyone ( not knowing the actual case) wanted to blame me. Guy probably doesn't have $175k * 2 worth of insurance though. CA minimum insurance probably won't even cover the totaled Mercedes, much less the medical bills for the "serious" injuries suffered by one of the victims.

Subsequent attempts saw minor head movement.
That's not the point of the test though. This is called the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Look it up for trustworthy details but I think the person giving the test is looking for jumping eyeballs when the eyeballs are at or near the horizontal limits.
