DETAILS:
The female sedan driver was waiting for the light to turn green as she was going to enter the southbound I-5. The female driver of the truck slammed into the back of the sedan at a high rate of speed. The collision sent both vehicles approx 30-40 feet from the impact point, with the sedan hitting a traffic light pole.
The female victim was seriously injured and trapped. Firefighters were able to open the car door with the "Jaws of Life", and extricate the female. The woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The female driving the truck was "Tested & Arrested" for DUI in an Injury Crash. Traffic was backed up for a good distance as commuters had to detour around the crash scene.
Driving drunk at 6 am what garbage lives these creeps lead. Ugh.
Another innocent victim of someone else's stupidity.

Poor lady in the Hyundai😢 I’m so sick of these drunk folks driving. This heffa can’t even perform the test.
I was seriously injured by a habitual drunk driver. Even the police officer that responded knew this person from previous drunk driving encounters. I have sustained life altering permanent injuries . I'm in pain 24/7 due to the permanent nerves damage sustained and have had several surgeries. I was a nurse but I can't work now. There's been a lot of changes in my life because of a drunk. A habitual one at that !! The laws are too lax on these individuals. They're aren't being held responsible in my opinion. He did go to jail for a bit and that gave me just a little joy but my life has been altered.
Thank God there weren't children in the back seat.

Feel very sorry for the sedan victim. She is minding her own damn business then slam. She may have life altering injuries. At very least, PTSD. Bless those firefighters + medics. Sorry that accidental window shattering scared the victim. The DUI driver is impaired @6:40 in morning. She needs AA/NA and recovery treatment after she serves jail time for what I think will be charged as a felony.

when you’re drunk, your body is loose at time of impact vs stiff at impact of a sober. sucks but drunk driver 90+% of the time will suffer less injury than sober.

Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo. Probably started her drinking yesterday, and didn't stop till a couple hrs before getting behind the wheel.

P.S. I almost was hit in this exact same spot last year, some 100mph BMW running a red, racing home from the bar at 6AM, while I just try to go to work.

Your post implies ignorance of how these tests actually work. Protect yourself from cops; learn how the tests actually work and how they're judged so, when it's your turn to face a cop, you've a better chance of "passing" their ridiculous tests.
Better yet, don't play their games; refuse all testing up to the point you've been arrested. Fun time is over once the arrest is made; you'd better think long and hard about your next moves, because the stakes just went way up.

@@S1N1ST3R_K1TT3N Okaaaaayyyyy... Hear me out... cops give FSTs to people who haven't been drinking too and, if you don't know how the tests work, you might just fail them when fully sober. Of course, lots of cops incorrectly administer and interpret FSTs so even knowing how they're supposed to work is no guarantee of passing.
Just say "no" to FSTs and the PBT, even if you're stone-cold sober.
And don't DUI / DWI.

Man that’s horrible it’s my absolute worst nightmare to be hit from the back like that since I have my toddler with me all the time, I drive like a damn granny just to be extra safe but then comes along a freakin drunk driver and nothing you do can avoid you getting hit by one of those idiots. My family lost many friends in the 70's & 80's from from drinking & driving. Then laws were made. Thank goodness. No excuse for drinking and driving. Have taxi's, ubers, friends, or stay where you are until sober. Horrific injuries and deaths still happens from drinking & driving.

I don’t disagree that it’s a huge problem that needs to be talked about, but car crashes don’t usually make it on the news if there aren’t any fatalities (especially in a big city where there are lots of wrecks every day).

For those commenting on the 6 am drunk driving, you’d be surprised how many DUI accidents occur between 3-6 am(and just about any time after midnight) Seen plenty of horrific ones on the way to work. Thank GOD I’ve never been unfortunate enough to be in one. Hopefully victim recovers.

It’s so selfish for one to drink and drive. I wish there were stricter outcomes for people who do so. If the victim had a kid or passenger in the back seat this would be a different case. Some judge somewhere will let her skate free to cause another accident. These people usually commit several of these dui’s accidents before there’s a tougher penalty. So sad.

The part of this that always gets me is the judges in the legal system. Like the police say its a revolving door, she will be sentenced for 1 year(when she should get 20 years)--but since she is a wonderful inmate--they will release her in 2 months to do this again!!!!!!! The legal system in this country--is beyond a joke.

I went frame-by-frame through this portion of the video. The window didn't break until AFTER the rescuer's tool was no longer in contact with the door!
Sort of answers my question.
Usually they put a blanket over victim prior to using s breakout tool on window.

I have permanent neck, shoulders and back damage due to being rear-ended six times in ten years. Stop sign, red light, stop sign, drunk driver, red light, tradfic stopped due to idiot turning left from the through lane. This last one caused a five car chain reaction. Of course I was the first one hit-by a pickup truck. PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE. YOU CANNOT DRIVE FASTER THAN THE PERSON IN FRONT OF YOU.
Mission Bay Area is a death zone, in past years. I counted so far of 15 deaths in that area since 2020.
There need to be some size restrictions in place. Some of these SUVS and Trucks are so large that they are killing machines.

I see cars and SUVs nearly in half all the time now in accident videos. Speeding has always been happening but with the new way vehicles are made to crumple a large truck or even a smaller EV that has substantial weight from the battery cause a lot more damage.

I'm not sure what behavior they look for in order to want to test you, but as a person with a seriously bad back, I could no way pass that test stone sober. I don't drink or do drugs, even prescriptions, so no problem there, but I could not do those moves easily.
I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice, merely my potentially flawed opinions and understanding regarding the the present state of things in California.
FST=Field Sobriety Test
PBT=Portable Breath Test
FST performance is not admissible as proof of intoxication. Neither are the numbers generated by a PBT unit.
FSTs are not about ascertaining "whether you're safe to drive", whatever the cop may tell you; FSTs are about building probable cause for arrest so you can be tested down at the station using equipment and protocols capable of generating results that *are* admissible as proof of intoxication in court.
You are not obligated to perform FSTs or blow into the PBT, and refusal to participate will not result in automatic suspension of driving privileges.
If you are arrested on suspicion of DUI, and subsequent to that arrest you refuse to voluntarily submit a blood or breath sample, officers will obtain a warrant to compel you to provide a sample, and you will be tied down if that's what it takes to get a sample from you. Your driving privileges will be suspended even if you are ultimately found innocent of the DUI charge.
Part of the standard FST protocol is for the cop to ask about conditions that might cause problems on the test. If you decide to do FSTs, make sure you are up front with the cop about your issues before you begin the tests. They're supposed to ask.
Information about how FSTs are supposed to work, how they're supposed to be administered and scored, is readily available online. I recommend you look it up. The tests are tricky, and it is very easy to "fail" a test without realizing it. You might think, "my back makes balance difficult", but that should be the least of your worries. No joke! You'd better pay very close attention to the cop's words and do exactly what he says, because the test is in progress well before you think it is.
For example,
Cop tells you, "Stand here, feet together, hands by your sides. Now, when I tell you, lift one of your feet about 12 inches off the ground and hold it parallel to the ground..."
Most people think the test hasn't started yet but they're wrong. Failure to stand with your feet together while listening to the instructions is a point against you. Failure to keep your hands at your sides is a point against you. Lifting a foot before the cop tells you to begin is a point against you.
Most people think this is a balance test, but they're wrong! The test is actually placing multiple loads on the brain. A sober person will utilize multiple parts of the brain to deal with the simultaneous loads without too much difficulty. In an impaired person, one of those parts is malfunctioning, and the other isn't working at peak performance either. So the one part has more work than it can handle. It will pick one of the loads, at the expense of the other. A blasted drunk can listen to instructions, or maintain their balance, but not both at the same time. A blasted drunk can count, or balance, but not both at the same time.

@@911VideoNews And I feel that shortage is made worse by the frequent (non-stop?) runs for homeless and criminals experiencing minor medical issues. The ambulance that arrived here is Medic 21, stationed at Fire Station 21 in Mission Beach. This ambulance may have just delivered a person to Sharp Kearny Mesa and then it must be cleaned and prepped for its next run. I think we need a fleet of pickup trucks, staffed with EMT's and supplies, to respond to less-serious incidents, freeing the paramedics for those in greater need. Your thoughts?
