I walked into an old warehouse in Knoxville TN probably 15 years ago. A friend had some extra tickets to see Mastodon and I went with him after work, on short notice. I opened the doors and had the same look on my face as the dude on the right when these vocals kicked in. I stopped at the doors and said "Danny! Who tf is opening for Mastodon?".....It was Gojira. I've loved them since that night. Check out the video from their performance from the Olympics or the song "Born For One Thing" to hear what they sound like these days. They've somehow only improved over the years.
Gojira , beside being one of the best metal band of all time and playing at the olympics , is a real gate opener fo rnon metal listeneners , lost in vegas became great fans .
I think they are using a DigitTech whammy pedal to get the high pitch tones. The last time I heard that was from Rage Against the Machine as Tom Morello likes to use it quite a bit.
While i love this song this isnt a good representation of the kind of songs they normally do. I think Flying Whales, Gift of Guilt or Where Dragons Dwell or Silvera would be better introductions
