Lemmy spent his entire life taking cocaine and amphetamine. I used to take pharmaceutical Dexedrine, for which I was able to finagle a prescription, back when I was 17-26. I would have never given it up if it weren’t for adult-onset muscular dystrophy, which began ruining my life at age 25, and which caused my Dexes to give me painful spasms. The beauty of amphetamines is that you can drink more or less forever without slurring your words or stumbling. You feel loose and happy, but your thoughts are still crisp and clear. Alcohol is a shite drug in its own, but combined with pharmaceutical-grade amphetamine? Great stuff. Anyroad, I was originally gonna say that his interest in crank vs. LSD was what got him kicked out of his previous band, Hawkwind (I love BOTH)); it is also the combination of Jack Daniel’s’, cigarettes, and post-nasal drip from snorting speed that gave him that voice. Motörhead, like Yours, Truly, is a product of (what was, then) Her Majesty’s United Kingdom…Though I’m from Manchester and Motörhead is from London. Given the way we Mancs feel about Londoners, this feels nowt short of a miracle; as we Northerners think of Londoners as a load of posh nancies. I dunno about the others, but I do know that the reason Lemmy was proper ‘ard, though, is ‘cos ‘e was originally from Burslem, which is only about 65km from Manchester.

This is...most definitely an English band.

I saw Motorhead open for Alice Cooper in '88. The newspaper the next day described them as "A Perfunctory Earbleed ." I completely agree.Thank you So Much, Lemmy for giving the fans what we want and deserve!! RIP. Having a Jack and coke for you right now brother.
