Now we have 900+ devs, pretty clear path going into 1.0 and Squadron 42 launch with many tools to work with (including the upcoming Genesis). The future looks way more promising

I only spend 45$ on Star Citizen and I have a great time playing it. Start delivering some packages, do some bounty, get some money to rent an ROC and Cutlass Black to go, Minning, save enough money to Get a Prospector, Get in touch with Mining Org. Sell player Quntanium location, Save money Enough to buy a Harbinger, Do VHRT Bounty, Visit Invictus Expo, and get to fly 890 Jump with 10 strangers who I just met in the Expo.
It has a lot of issues, game-breaking bugs sometimes and the whole paying real-world money for in-game ship Insurance is weird but I say I've had fun with it for the whole 1-2 months, and For 45$ which is less for some AAA games that I far less enjoy playing. I got Star Citizen a few months ago. Made my way through and learned the basics. Once I got everything ready to go, I set out to a planet that was a hotspot for resources and weapons. I get there, lay down on ship’s bed, logged out to use the restroom, logged in, and my ship fell through the planet with me inside, glitched out, died, had to replace my ship, attempted again, collected the resources, got back to my ship, and as soon as I closed the bay doors, the ship fell through the planet again. I died, lost everything, haven’t played since.
I can’t even do the most basic stuff in this game without it falling apart and punishing me for it. I don’t want to repeat the same mission tens of times for hours at a time, just in the hopes that the proper sequence transpired for the program to be happy and allow me to progress.

That Squadron 42 release date started me thinking...
CIG began developing Star Citizen in 2011.
SpaceX began developing Starship in 2012.
CIG has announced SQ42 releasing in 2026.
SpaceX announced Starships to Mars in 2026, during the next transfer window. This means people on Mars as early as 2029. (More likely, 2031 or so.)

Lmao if you believe that they will be launching a full human crewed mission to mars by 2026 then wow, you need to touch some grass...
They have only JUST been able to catch a rocket with the idiotic chopsticks. They have somewhat of the shell of a rocket and nothing else... there is no design or architecture for the interior where the astronaughts would have to live for months on end. They have done NO human trials of what that much time is zero G would even do to a human body. Starship has NO ABORT method which will mean they will never be able to fly NASA astronaughts which means having to train your own astronaughts. Then there is the simply fact that it's literally less than 2 months from 2025.... they haven't even finalized or began building the totally stupid and insane "elevator."
Sorry dood but Elon isn't a god. He's just another rich kid that used his daddies money to sue and buy his way into everything and everything he has tried to do with his own brain has failed. Starship may one day go to mars but the first ship there and a few after will be with no humans aboard. Then maybe within a decade they'll start planning a real manned mission to mars but absolutely not with the next 2 years....

SpaceX has invested approximately $5 billion into the development of its Starship vehicle and associated launch infrastructure. This includes spending on rocket designs, the development of its Super Heavy booster, and the construction of facilities at Boca Chica, Texas. A significant portion of this investment has been recent, with around $2 billion allocated in 2023 alone to accelerate development and testing. When you consider that the game has spent nearly a fifth of that... It is not that impressive! Musk should have done the game instead haha

Its crazy the amount of shit you can interact with and how space travel feels so great. Downside is its graphically intesive so you need a decent pc. Hey I just want to clear up a few things about wipes, SC does NOT have regular/frequent FULL database wipes any more. However, there ARE partial data wipes, but rarely do they include in game purchased ships, weapons, armor, components, etc (things that are expensive). Back in the pre 3.0 days, SC had frequent full wipes because there was no way for the game data to persist between updates. The last full wipe was for 3.18 because it introduced full persistence which was a complete overhaul of their backend database, they prefer for player data to persist now between updates as it is important data for them to have on player activity.
If there is a need to reset some of the player account data, CIG will let players know in advance what will be affected. Most recently we had a reputation resent because they overhauled the reputation system, and the new and old systems had completely different styles of progression.
In extreme cases CIG has the ability to select what player data they want to reset i.e. Money, Items, Reputation, etc either game wide or on an account by account bases. For example, there have been a few money exploits recently where players were duping resources and making millions within an hour, CIG was able to ban the most egregious offenders and reset the money balance for others they knew were exploiting as well as remove anything they purchased in game using the exploits. Those of us who did not use the exploits were unaffected by the resets.
I have several ships that I purchased in game about a year ago that have persisted. Several I purchased just because I knew a money wipe was coming the following patch, but I also wanted to test if there persistence tech was working as advertised. Since then I've had one ship that was accidentally wiped but was able to get it back after I alerted customer service. that was over 6 months ago now and I have not had any issues since.

    • @jameshanna8762
      @jameshanna8762 29 днів тому +5

Yeah the wipes are only a thing during development. Once the game goes live, and we are no longer playing in Alpha, the credits and ships you grind will persist. Anyone playing the Alpha version will have to acknowledge the fact that they know they are helping provide data for the devs, and the database is subject to partial or complete wipes. None of the items/credits acquired through gameplay, prior to official release, should be expected to carry over to the final release version. I fully expect everything to get one final total wipe right before the official release of the final product.
As for paying to excel, buying a bigger ship doesn't really do anyone any good, unless they can crew the ship. Take the Carrack, as an example. Sure, a single player can fly the ship around, but while they are flying, they can't do anything else, including firing any of the guns. You are just a big defenseless target without a sizable crew manning the ship. All they really accomplished was to help fund the game development for everyone.

I have yet to hear anyone come up with a better way to fund this project past release, in order to cover costs of servers, and the continued dev of the project. As we players keep hoping and asking for more content.
Blame CIG for feature creep, then look at the massive amount of requests for content we players keep making on a daily basis. Irony!?!
If we want it, we can have it, with enough money and time. But where is that money gonna come from.
Big corpo investors could be a good source I suppose.
The current funding model has never forced a player to spend more. Its always been by choice.
Come up with another way that will allow that.
Rockstar does cash for credits, and I hear they make in a year what CIG has made since SC started dev.
But I also here the players complaining about that option.
Again, come up with a better way that no one will complain about, even though they are never forced to spend.
Ship sales will continue after release. And those that don't have the free time to play it takes to earn a ship will be the ones buying them.
We should be grateful for those that can, who choose to give money to this project, instead of the disdain that is so common. I sense envy often.
If it wasn't for them, this project would never be possible. The first time in my lengthy life the more fortunate have ever invested in something I want to see happen.
How is that other similar project going, that "released" in 2014, and forced its players to buy expansions in order to play with the promised content? Much of the long ago promised content still missing, and will officially never come to be.
I hear selling ships is there new way to fund the "released" game.

Thanks for giving the game a fair perspective, Luke. I bought the minimum game package that included the same Aurora ship you flew in this video, Star Citizen, and Squadron 42 for $65 back in 2015, and the only money I've spent since was another $40 to upgrade my starter to a Gladius in 2017. Rest assured that nobody is as upset about how long SC and SQ42 has taken than the actual backers of the game, so for anyone complaining about how long it's taken, I agree 100%.
As for the monetization, I agree that the ship pledges and their prices are obscene, which is why I haven't bought any outside of what I mentioned above. For that investment, I have already enjoyed hundreds of hours of gameplay (and have hated hundreds more when bugs occurred), and have no plans on giving CIG anymore money not because I can't, but because for me part of the fun is earning those ships to fly them. In the long term I agree they likely won't stop selling ships, but I also feel like when we get to 1.0 those ship prices will drop or they just won't sell.
To hopefully help put the $730 million headline in perspective:
    - with over 5.3 million game accounts, assuming every one of them has the bare minimum aurora + SC game package ($45) that alone makes up $250 million of the revenue they've made, so more than 1/3 of the game's revenue over 12 years came from just people buying the base game offering. The whales absolutely exist but you don't really need that much money per person to get to $700 million.
    - Genshin Impact made $930 million in revenue for 2023. That's just one year to CIG's 12 years.
    - Concord cost $400 million to make and is literally gone, cannot be played.
    - CIG employees over 500 developers. If we lowball their average salary at $75,000 a year, then pay that for 10 years (they didn't have all these people when they started) that works out to over 380 million just to pay their developers over that time frame. This is JUST to cover the developers, not the writers, composers, actors, mocap studios, none of that stuff. I shouldn't need to say this but game dev is expensive.

The last armor set I got almost 2 years ago or so. I'm still carrying it in storage. I think they might wipe with 4.0 (pre-release version 4.0, not to be confused with the 1.0, for any 'outsiders' reading this, basically 4.0 will come before 1.0) again next time.
If we jump to the conclusion that 2026 will indeed be SQ42 release and if we assume that 1.0 might be deployed some time around or shortly-ish before 2030, and seeing how the last full wipe of gear and money and so on was like ... 2 years ago(?) then I assume we might only see about... 2-3 more full wipes? Give or take?

Are you saying that no tech developed by CIG is actually new/different/groundbreaking?
I'm not a tech (backend) person myself so I can't judge, but server meshing seems pretty unique and their grand-scale tech is maybe rivaled by slight simulator?
But even then flight sim is less in depth in terms of layered topography (from ground to space and beyond).

    • @Ficohaker
      @Ficohaker 26 днів тому +3

@@Humanaut. Hi, I will start by saying I do consider the scale of the tech they are doing is cool and not done before.
But, server meshing has existed on smaller scales in a lot of previous videogames, from minecraft servers to ark survival evolved and probably a few others I am personally unfamiliar with.
On the topic of ground scale tech, its pretty similar to no man sky, or any other generative system for a planet. Bethesda's starfield did the tech, but that was so bad it made the entire planets boring and uninteresting. So while I adore the scale of star citizen, it is not "new" nor is it interesting thus far until we have proper gameplay to judge the entire systems working together. Until then it is all a tech demo and a lot of other studios did entire engines and multiple games in the same span for CiG to do a tech demo.
But I understand CiG had to do a lot of engine rebuilds and changes that threw their timeline from 5-10 years, to 15-20, which is pretty similar to what happened to some other well know games(hytale and one more that I can't recall right now) that just scaled too far and realised what they have isn't going to support their game and vision not only on launch, but thinking 10+ years into the future, hence why we get such insane delays on games.
What I was more targeting in my comment was the social features and base building. None of those were anything ground breaking, nor would they even be considered the best in their respective game genres. Sure they might be the prettiest, but that graphical fidelity is only in engine, and when you have to scale the tech and the game to actual playable state, you lose so much that the game simply cannot look that nice, or you have to sacrifice something else because server meshing isn't jesus tech, and they would have to rely on 100's of shards (different servers/instances of WoW or any other MMo you probably played in the past) that the scale and beauty of it defeats the purpose of the world being such a lovely vast and open space.
And that is why I think even CiG doesn't know what they want, or how to make the game and why it is taking so bloody long.
SQ42 might be their good grace play here, a singleplayer game that promises everything for everyone, and then when they end up releasing SC 1.0 the community and the company will not crash and burn, but if you ask me they are bloated and overstaffed as it is, and are burning way too much cash for the amount of product they released.
Hope this long comment answers your questions you had

Luke, I think they don't want to release in 2025 because GTA 6 will be releasing next year. I don't think any studio wants to be anywhere close to that release. I can't remember the details but any ships purchased with real world money will automatically have some type of insurance. I forgot what level of it it is though. Also, they don't delete your in-game ships very often anymore with new patches. Any earned money and consumables will be gone. Two of the Starlancer various variants will be available next month in November in the in-game IAE event. As far as real money purchases, I buy ships with my money because I work 12 hours a day Monday through Friday and I don't have time to grind for the ships I want. I literally have a few hours on Saturday and Sunday to play if at all. I buy cool ships but that does not help me because I still suck at the game. I have a high-end heavy fighter but I continually get my ass handed to me in combat. I spent $230 on that ship. But I love it. It doesn't help me win anything lol. I just don't want do we have to grind for it if they do do a wipe and take the in-game ships with the wipe. Plus some ships are limited time sales so yeah I'm a victim of fomo on occasion. The really good fighter pilots will honestly tell you, skill wins in a ship almost every time. Like you, I get wrecked a lot in ships so many claim to be good. And often by much smaller and less formidable ships. So those pilots say knowledge and practice practice. But practice takes time, and I really don't like combat gameplay in most games. 41:10 to be completely fair with wipes, they aren't an intentional feature of the game like something with Tarkov or Rust, rather they are a symptom of the state of development that SC is in.
Wipes are actually very infrequent these days and only occur with very major patches or if something goes very, very wrong.
I last played Star Citizen February of this year, and I logged in yesterday and there has been no wipe in that time.
There will likely be a wipe soonish, with patch 4.0, as that patch adds the second star system and will change the game massively. But Wipes these days are super infrequent, and CiG are working to make them even less infrequent until there is no longer any need for them at all once the game reaches the 1.0 release that they outlined at this citizencon.

      Thats the key right there.
No one is ever forced to spend more as they develop the way beyond original scope of the game.
My friends who have spent "WAY" less than me in the same decade, are playing with "WAY" more than me, simply by playing the game different and/or more.
But ED forced its players to by expansions of promised content. Content yet to be seen that was promised 12 years ago.
Of the two projects, SC is the biggest scam of the gaming industry!?! I guess "released" gives immunity from such criticism.
I could go on for quite a bit of the irony this project gets in criticism when comparing it to that game alone. And from that player base is insane irony.
Much more if I include other projects.
And ED recently started selling ships to continue funding.
We should be grateful for those that can, who choose to give money to this project, instead of the disdain that is so common. I sense envy often.
If it wasn't for them, this project would never be possible. The first time in my lengthy life the more fortunate have ever invested in something I want to see happen.

The idea, the dream of living among the stars as a Space Cowboy-esk Dude, the itch that Star Wars put into me and the itch that i wasn't able to scratch until i tried the game out. Now, i can't play it ofc, cos it's very, very laggy for me, but even that bit of gameplay i did get to enjoy, was exactly what i wanted out of a game such as this. The ability to fly around planets, land wherever, trade cargo, mine in space, do bounty hunting like a Fett, and such. You sit in front of this game and all but fan-boy for the revolutionary advancements that Roberts and Cloud have made in this $730Mil endeavor, but you always circle back to disliking the “pay to fly cool ships”. Without this mechanic, there wouldn’t be the diversity of combatant class required to force advancements.
I was a player back when the Hornet first came out, it was the big baddie on the block, running circles around the starter ships. It forced people to evolve their tactics, whether by banding together, improving their hardware or using an intelligent strategies to overcome the overwhelming superiority of the Hornet.
Pay to fly cool ships, in reasonable quantities, creates both the need to evolve and the opportunity to steal said cool ships from the rich people that bought them. Don’t miss the chance to go full GTA on a players capital ship because you’re mad he bought it.

Luke unfortunately you skipped over the 1.0 discussion right to endgame. Detailing what they’re targeting for a launch version of the game for the first time is a very important topic and more tangible right now than endgame content. The video for this part of the presentation was just uploaded and it is called The Stars My Destination: Star Citizen 1.0. Edit: Spare me the “CIG doesn’t deliver” comments. Yeah, duh, we all know what they say and what actually happens are two different things. I’m not saying any different or defending them. So much about this information always leaves me scratching my head about how much research goes into the subject before talking about it. Since so many brought up the issue with feature complete I would like to point out a couple of persistent misunderstandings surrounding SC.
    1. SHIPS ARE NOT PROGRESSION!!!
CIG has stated it before and they stated it again during Citcon. They consider reputation to be progression. That will allow you to get more credits to play sandbox how ever you want. The ships simply open up avenues to play, but larger ships are not "better" for you. They have cost associated with them to run. The most expensive ships in game take larger crews to run. If you are a Solo player, or if you play with one or two friends, you don't even "need" to get a larger ship that supports this. Also the server wipes are not intentional but related to tech. The plan for 1.0 as you implied you watched it, is to have insurance (recieve credits back) plans for ships you purchased in game and warranty (hull replacement) you can earn.
    2. Monetization
The desire to stop selling ships outside of starter ships and concepts, is Chris Roberts idea. And it is unlikely that is going to change. What can the sell other than ships though? EVERYTHING ELSE! Already in the store you can by in-game weapons, armor, paints, decoration, and flair. They tested a system in which you can have paid customization for ships (test run done with 300 series). They have not expanded it to every ship but due to how they plan the insurance system to work than they still should be able to bring in plenty of cash for the high number of items they can sell.
    3. Most important bit - In game purchases and rentals
This is glossed over often, but you are not really required to purchase a ship with real money to enjoy it. In game there are stores that sell the ships and kiosks that allow you to rent ship for a relatively small fee. You start game with aurora and think salvaging or mining is up your alley? Do a handful of basic missions and you will have enough to rent these ships which in turn allow you to make more credits, so you can either rent other ships to try or earn enough to purchase ships you want. Also the community is awesome so just asking in chat people will let you tour or fly a ship in question or group up to make some credits so you can get your desired ship.
One of the worst things about seeing SC content is sometimes there is either a lack of information or misinformation that turns the discourse toxic. Of course when people that play or follow along try to explain they get labeled as cultist or trying to explain their "Ship Purchase". It is sad and somewhat telling when people get attacked for trying to clarify a lack of information or misinformation.

@staticneuron I'm not going to fully agree with @718Hokage here, but I'm going to play devil's advocate as a fellow longtime backer who, while generally optimistic about the project, also agrees with a lot of the criticism that is levied (even when it is often in bad faith - though 718Hokage made no real argument which is always disappointing). I'll similarly go point by point here, and won't necessarily disagree with all the points you raise - but I really wanted to make a comment in general contention to your points because I feel most of your 'pointing out persistent misunderstandings' is biased/opinionated, and more interested in swaying people in favor of the project rather than being realistic and presenting primarily facts regarding the project (which is fine to do, but feels misrepresented by suggesting your opinions are factual by saying you are 'combating misunderstandings/misinformation).
      1. Agreed with the progression plan as stated in the context of 1.0, but right now - ships are progression, and will be for the foreseeable future, due to the lack of other progression means. We still do not have a projected timeframe when crafting and reputation will come in game, and there are no meaningful money sinks beyond ships currently. Agreed that the server wipes are technical issues - but when it is the current primary progression loop in a paid alpha (antithetical to most alphas which invite testers and provide them with most assets in the game) where their main money maker is selling ships, it's worth criticizing at this time. To that point, I would say that right now larger ships are strictly 'better' if you are playing with friends for similar reasons - but still agreed in the context of 1.0 talk.
      2. Agreed that the last we heard, ships will no longer be sold following the release of 1.0. With that said, while yes we can assume that will not change, it's not unreasonable for someone to feel it COULD change given the general number of changes in scope/expectations for the PU over the years. In fact, I feel the community's reaction to Lando's clarification on pledge store insurance is one of relief and satisfaction - with many in my org suggesting this means pledge ships are now effectively underpowered - and I believe this could easily lead to marketing feeling they can then continue selling ships in 1.0. We've had two ships and one rifle sold en masse in the last year alone which we were told would not be released until SQ42's release, and that would have to be earned by completing that game, for an example I feel is at least somewhat relevant.
      3. Agreed you don't have to purchase ships with real money to enjoy them. Also agreed the community will generally be willing to take new players around - though new players can tend to not reach out for said help/guidance. I would say the recent economy changes to further enforce the current progression loop of acquiring ships as detailed in item 1 has skewed this against your overall point. You don't have to buy a ship with real money to enjoy it, but many of the ships are now quite a bit more difficult to obtain - and given the very broken state of this current patch (mostly server-side but still fair to point out), it gets that much more frustrating to make marginal gains towards a ship when it's a swipe away, and that FOMO which CIG is preying on is disappointing to see.
I certainly agree it is frustrating that the general gaming public is still so aggressively against the project, given you and I have likely had any number of genuinely remarkable, unique and unforgettable experiences with friends in this game over the past few years - but I also think it is fair to meet people where they are and appreciate the perspective that this project has largely earned its reputation, regardless of the toxicity of discourse often had. A lot of the points I tried to raise were for the sake of trying to illustrate that a lot of Luke's criticism and points made in this video were largely contextualized in the current state of the project. I felt he was expressing wishes to see things change come 1.0 that were less to do with nuanced specifics about the game - but general concerns raised by a gamer who, while maybe not intimately familiar with the game, uses the information he does have to poke reasonable holes in what he's presented with, in a mostly charitable and respectful manner.
You don't have to be an expert in something to criticize it, you just need to represent yourself as 'not a doctor' and be humble enough to also be open to being corrected. I think Luke did very well in this video, and didn't provide blatant misinformation as his feelings towards things that generally do happen/exist and are accurate in the current project, and fairly analyzed the 1.0 discussion with a critical and concerned lens. I do hope this finds you well and am open to correction or challenge on my thoughts as well - have a good one o7

I know I know, Roberts is "making a AAA, can never be topped, is more awesomer than anything ever made game" and give us an epic gaming experience. But I can't ignore that gut feeling that, with all of the bugs (or parts of the game that aren't working or don't integrate with the whole game) that are STILL plaguing the game, is Roberts vision even technically possible at the current state of technology? IF he is "inventing" the technology, than that's what is making that gut feeling warn me to just stand by and see what happens first.

The 2 biggest things that came out of CitizenCon is what the full release 1.0 game is intended to be and one of the most boring but important things ever for an MMO system is the Friends and Organizations interface that is the most basic thing in all MMOs. The fact we are 12 years into it and still don't have that basic functionality is mind boggling. But what they showed, is exactly what is needed, and we are glad they are finally addressing it. The downside of course is the "When?" question was not answered, and 1.0 features look like they might take a really long time. SC 1.0 2030? Maybe. One thing that I should point out in your video, is that on your 'descent' to Arial, you were in SCM-Gun mode instead of NAV-FLT, which means your maximum speed was like 1/10th of what it could be, which is a fair mistake for someone who checks in every so often. A recent patch introduced Master Modes to the game, with SCM-Standard Combat Mode, being much lower in top-speed compared to NAV-Flight mode, which cannot actively use its weapons (or shields) in exchange for much higher top speed.
Also wipes rarely happen these days, there was like a two-year gap between wipes, and because of how wipes now work, they RARELY wipe your in-game cash, to the point I can't even remember the last time they did so, which means you can just re-buy the ship even if they have to wipe player-ship-ownership for some reason.

Definitely some valid concerns you brought up at the end. Recently had a discussion about this with a friend. The main issue right now with buying ships in game is definitely the wipes, but with their 1.0 plan, those wipes will no longer happen making buying and crafting your ships to keep in game wayy more viable.
This brings up the concern of how difficult or lengthy they'll make it to get ships in game to potentially incentivize just buying them for actual money. And if they do stop selling ships, how else would they be able to appropriately fund the studio to keep building on their ambitions?
These are exciting times to be a fan, but there's definitely room to be concerned with the future of the game, even with the huge advancements it's been making lately.

They aren't just making a game they are also inventing new tech just to run the various systems in this game. I like to compare this game to GTA 6. Consider that GTA 6 is not nearly as complex as Star Citizen, and yet its taking just as long to develop; and apparently with a development price tag twice of Star Citizen; also consider how much time was lost during Covid. Maybe im delusional, i think Star Citizen is taking the proper amount of time to make, the people who are angry simply forgot that they bought into a game thats still in open development. Its 730million. Not sure where you found the 2bn. Cloud Imperium games now has more than 1100 employees. That cost alone is more than >50million annually. The only way to create a game like this is by crowdfunding it. Its probably way less costefficient than a big studio could do it. But a big studio would never do it, cause it is too much risk for the shareholders.

Love your videos Luke and your objective and breakdowns of games and why (in your opinion) they are good or bad. You being able to point out narrative incongruencies or appreciate something well down is a rarity in a world where people make videos to pull as many clicks as possible and then say whatever they think will get likes. You don't do that. I think you and Space Tomato have that in common and I look forward to your video together.
One thing though: this game isn't pay to win. Yes, you can pay crazy money to buy ships, but you don't have to. Most of the ships are available to purchase with in game currency. Wait a couple months and newly released ships that were only for sale with real money will be available for purchase with aUEC (in game currency). You do have to make an initial purchase for a starter ship and game package. But there is no obligation or real necessity to purchase additional ships with real money. I have spent $56 on this game and have about 8 ships in game that I could have otherwise have purchased with real money. So why buy ships with dollars? Its really to continue to show your support for CIG and this project. As you have mentioned several times, there is a lot of crazy tech they are pushing out and trying to make work while attempting to make two games: Star Citizen (MMO) and Squadron 42 (single player). A lot of people have shown their support over the years by supporting CIG this way. It has also garnered a great deal of criticism and skepticism on whether they can accomplish all this. Again, I really look forward toward your conversation with Tomato.

Just FYI, the terminology ‘content’ and ‘features’ are two different things in the game dev. Features usually refers to tech requirements for an MVP whereas content is actual gameplay elements that are front facing for players that take advantage of said tech.

12 years? Really at a cost of 730 million. No company would let them do that because the odds of it ever making 1 penny is next to impossible. It could be a hit and sell 6 million copies and the company would still go broke. You need a mega hit. Those don't come along every day. At $60 they'd need to sell 12 million and they still don't break even. Not every game is Elden Ring in sells. Good games might sell 3 million. You only need to sell this at a $243 a pop to get 730 million back. Good games are not all mega hits.
