    i am setting the powmr3000w with 2x 12v 200ah lifep04 in series for 24v .. with 1kw of solar.. and 20amp grid power for my RV ... tried chins and originally had a 2k straight inverter .. so settled on powmr. but the whole system is 24v (2x (2x)100w thunderbolt panels in series and then got a couple 330w 24v panels running to an mc4 combiner.. really really like it for a first solar setup. with lifep04 prices dropping like a rock.. each 200ah lifep04 was 460.00 shipped.. 2.5kw ea .. may go up with another pair.

    In the manual they show a battery image with white bars coming down from the top. With no white bars the image is all dark and the status is listed as 75-100%. This may seems obvious to some people but it doesn't say if the status is charged or discharged. I think it would have been more intuitive for me if the charge indicator bars came up from the bottom. My system shut off with red alarm flashing and the battery logo was all black. So now I know for certain that all black means discharged.

    for ur pump u could look into a "softstart" . on a rv a/c with a softstart it can be run on a 120v wall circuit where with out u have to be plugged into 30 amp plug.

    How did you handle the ground/neutral connection in the panel connected to PowMr? Does the unit bond or is it an open ground on AC output? I have a Growatt 48V and it does not bond on AC output. My unit is off grid with no possibility of grid power coming in ever so I have decided to bond in the panel and run to a ground rod after reading so many different opinions. Even electricians seem to get stumped on this but Will Prowse seems to say no ground rod is necessary on a completely off grid system. Confusing.

      You do need a earth rod with these systems if you go completely off-grid. I found out the hard way. Everything that was being charged gave me a tingle, because I did not earth the unit. Ended up earthing the unit to the houses AC and no more problems.

    I got this hybrid inverter. When I plug in the solar panels, the box doesn't detect any PV. I can see on the screws of the terminal blocks that it has 22v from the panels, but nothing coming in. No green light to indicate charging. I have tried changing it to 'SOL' mode, not result. Can I fix that, or did my unit arrive with some kind of problem?

    • @MicahGallant
      @MicahGallant  Рік тому +1

      pretty sure you need minimum... probably 80 or 100 volts or something. 22v is low and probably not enough to wake it up basically. Try them in series, this unit takes up to 150 volts if its the same one. You should get it near max of the top voltage imput to maximize efficiency of the mppt controller

    • @GreenTextPro
      @GreenTextPro Рік тому

      @@MicahGallant This proved to be correct. One panel was not enough to detect the pv input. I hooked up two 200w panels, and I now have a happy green blinky light. Thanks for your reply. Great channel.

    I have another question. At the end of the day when the unit stops receiving solar, it boots up and shuts down for about 20 minutes. It blinks all three lights, beeps, checks the voltage and shows it on screen. Then turns off. (I do not refer to how it sometimes has intermitted solar energy, Yes it beeps when it loses pv, but this is different). Does anyone know what setting might cause it to do that?

    Hi there, what AWG battery wire fits into the system?

    • @MicahGallant
      @MicahGallant  Рік тому

      Good question. I don't know the max size. Any standard household wire fits in for the 120 volt output, and its meant to accept standard solar cables for the input, the size you'd buy off amazing for solar panel arrays. So it accepts all the standard stuff

    • @MicahGallant
      @MicahGallant  День тому

      I swapped this out with Signature Solar 3kw EG4 inverters (dual). the issue with this PowMr is that the mppt wasn't reseting correctly as voltage increased in the morning. so the wattage would not be high. you had to restart it to get the full input of solar. Not sure if they have fixed that but the MPPT resetting was a major issue. the eg4 units are near flawless, have been running the for over 2 years now straight.

      @@MicahGallant I figure it out, the problem was when i connect the AC input the there is a ground to neutral from the wiring of the house, so when I trying connect my living room to inverter it kept popping the breaker. So what I end up do just run a hot to the living room cause, neutral there already. Cause I turn my main grid breaker off and supply current to the entire living from an outlet.

Thanks for sharing

    • @MicahGallant

      I don't know about the bonding there. Thats a tricky subject so I won't comment. I'll let an electrician say something there. I didn't bond anything myself though, just used it as is.

      How have you gone with finding further info?

    • @matthewknight5641
      @matthewknight5641 Рік тому

      @@MicahGallant the neutral ground bonding is kinda difficult with thos unit. If its bonded at the ac input which it will be if you have a ac input then it will not be bonded at the ac out put. When you bond your neautral to ground as you are supposed to do on the ac output then it works right until you plug in the ac input and it trips the gfci. So the trick to make it work right and safely is to have a switch on your ac output ground. Have acoutput unbounded while using ac input and when you switch to solar or battery you need to flip a switch that bonds your neutral with ground

    • @MicahGallant
      @MicahGallant  2 роки тому

      You can technically run 2 of them because breaker panels have two 120 volt sides or rails. So one on each rail. BUT!! You cannot run 240 volt appliances across both rails because the AC is not synchronized. You need 2 units that communicate which each other to be able to do 240 like that. So i'm sure its very unsafe to run 2 that are not communicating but if all you need is 120, then its technically something you *could* do.

I don't mean grid-tied, but similar to a grid-tie inverter, which puts all the energy from the PV into the house. I'm also curious if it could be AC coupled with a grid-tie inverter to provide power to it instead of feeding the panels into the PowMr. Thanks for the review.
