      Yeah I agree they probably will make a factions dlc soon

    • @ThatGuyNicho
      @ThatGuyNicho Рік тому +1

      I agree, this is an exceptional framework to put more IP onto. By identifying Leaders with a homeworld, an Ethic, and a Faction allegiance (previously each Faction only had one Leader associated with them, right?), there's the basis for way more factions and stuff like self-autonomy movements, ambitions for certain council seats or appointments, rebellions, betrayals etc etc...
      PLUS, now that the Sectors system is customisable again, Empires will really start to feel more like pieces of a greater whole. THAT could connect into IntPol as well. Imagine a Faction corresponding to outlying sectors, and a rising Governor positioning to have that Sector broken off as an autonomous region? OR imagine a Militarist General or Admiral in a Pacifist Empire, worrying about a growing external threat and agitating for a change in policy and pre-emptive action against it? These could make for some really good emergent stories in Stellaris and I'd love to see them.

  • @valdonchev7296

    Even if factions go unchanged, this fulfills my desire for an intricate internal government. This does raise many questions: How are hive mind/machine intelligence leaders going to be flavored? How will this change existing leader related civics like Philosopher Kings? Also, unique leaders already exist - how will they get reworked into these paragons? Will any of this affect Envoys? Hope to learn more about this as news unfold.

    This leader DLC has potential in the future to develop a compelling internal politics system if they work on the interaction with the faction system. It also opens a chance to have the government types to be more balanced as well with more variables to alter to do so, like standard council size, leader pool, effectiveness based on faction happiness-modifiers...
    Second, if the Scion-origin would enter a FE-council member in your government as they like to meddle so much, that would make for an interesting setup with great bonuses but more difficulty to rebel, for example.
    Third, if that is the Omega Alignment of the Worm, maybe we could get an animation of it coiling around the sun as cataclysm overcomes our homeworld. It probably isn't because good luck having the Event Horizon occur naturally, but one could hope.

    the announcement video made me want a few cryo-stasis origins.. ideas i could think of would be:
    start off awakening in pods aboard a crashed city-ship. you're clearly not on your home world. you'd start a quest chain to discover where you came from, why you left, if theres any of your people out there remaining, are you where you were setting out to go or did you fail to reach your destination, how long were you in cryo, etc. (it'd kinda mix elements of lost colony and on the shoulders of giants). this could have variables when you start the game such as the amount of time you were in cryo, why you left your home world, and if others of your kind remain so it'd be different each playthrough
    second idea would be to have you awaken in a cryo-stasis lab/bunker (like in fallout 4). most likely being on your home world you wouldnt have to cotten-eye joe it (where did you come from, where did you go) but why and how long would still be a question. this could have light scion and shoulders of giants vibes, maybe somebody else put you into cryo on your home world for a reason.. but maybe not and it was just you who did it to yourselves.. again variables of who did it, why, and how long could change the feel of the origin each time you play it..

I'm quite surprised at the short notice between announcement and release. I am loving what I'm seeing with the new depth to leaders, and I'm already relooking at the potential of a leader focused Progenitor Hive with this DLC, or maybe have fun RPing these mechanics with a Divine Cult empire (I might have that civic name wrong).
    As for the leader looks, I'd hazard to guess that the "normal" looking ones are base leaders that you'd normally get, and those with far fancier portraits are more likely unique paragons. At least bird boy is likely one of the legendries, the bearded guy maybe not as he has a similar profile arrangement as the others.
    Hmm...with leaders of different levels costing different upkeeps, I wonder how Feudal Society will change, if it does, because as it stands, that civic waives all Leader upkeep, which would be even stronger with this DLC.
    For the Veteran Classes, it seems like there's 3 for each leader time, and they seem to be the icon under leader type, things like "Analyst" for scientists or "Tactician" for admirals. As not all leaders have these Veteran Classes, I'd wager at the very least they provide some sort of additional buff, but what kind of buff that's separate from their traits remains to be seen.

    The fact I can more easily grab Engineer is beautiful.
    Can't wait to run Engineer, and Unyielding though it seems we can have more than the average two traits.
    I also wonder if we're able to raise one of our leaders to a "Hero" level leader.
    If so, that would bring so much to rp, especially for those who like to run with Imperial Cult (Perhaps the cult will allow you to raise leaders to something like saints, similiar in 40k?) The emperor being a "Heroic" Tier leader would make sense for the Imperial Cult, but if it's galaxy based then perhaps not so much, but empire based? Yeah.
    I wonder if the "Under One Rule" will allow us to have our ruler at the start be the founder of the empire. I really hope so, and really like rping that kind of thing, sucks that it usually means he is immortal because of how the flavor shows it as, and the abysmal rng from the shroud makes it nearly impossible to get the immortal chosen one trait.

    This is just amazing! I am new to Stellaris and never bought a DLC, but this DLC is exactly what the game excels at for me. There is just so much roleplay and at least for me, the game happens more in my head than it does on screen. :) I always roleplayed that my immortal Empress has a council and now it becomes reality. I am currently in my first real campaign and I wanted to start from scratch anyway, as I learned many things that are now impossible to remedy. My destruction might be near. Now the game could use a tiny sprinkle of Crusader Kings and allow some more deliberate actions such as murdering NPCs or swaying them.

    The hands logo on venerated is similar to the +unity overtuned trait. Also irl venerated leaders/heroes are often a rallying point or unifying force. So I'm gonna guess something to do with unity.
    I'm also seeing a big upsurge in the use of the feudal society civic.

    Glad to see that leaders are finally being made interesting and also that the RNG involved with them is being cut down.
    They will need to revisit how machine empires generate unity though, if higher level leaders cost more unity because the sprawl rework kind of did a number on machine empires in that aspect.
    Curious to see if they'll do anything with leader lifespan traits or if those will stay as is. If so, will be interesting to see if this rework makes those worthwhile traits. It'll also be interesting to see how this shakes things up.
    Not looking forward to how hard it's going to be to choose civics and traditions. Got to wonder if we're hitting a point where maybe the devs should let us research the ability to get four by default, given that we're being given 8 more and we know future dlcs will only add more and revamp the weaker ones. Traditions are fine, I'll admit, we have somewhat hard choices now on that front, but it doesn't quite seem like we have so many that the current cap feels too restrictive.
    Bummed that we don't appear to be getting an internal politics rework, but maybe we get that next time around or they surprise us with that being part of the free features in 3.8. I mean, it does seem like a prime time to revamp internal politics.

    • @ThatGuyNicho
      @ThatGuyNicho Рік тому

      They do seem really really adamant NOT to do an Internal Politics/Factions redux. Not by their words, but by their behaviour. I've seen so, so many mentions of it - more than any other request - for two years now. What we've gotten instead has been Unity rework, Vassals rework (Overlord), Primitives rework (First Contact), and now Leader rework (Galactic Paragons). I was skeptical that Vassals or Primatives reworks were needed but other people in the people convinced me (very rudely and bluntly) that they were both necessary and useful in their own right, so fair enough. A Leaders rework I didn't know we needed, but I'm massively hyped for it and fully on board, and I believe that the Unity rework was a very good thing. But I'm starting to get very despondent that no matter how long we wait or how often we ask, Internal Politics is never given and isn't prioritised. I can't figure out why, but I keep hoping.

    That obelisk at the end makes me think it might be the "star forge" where you find the "astrocreator" paragon.
    With that title, I would think his unique ship might act as a second juggernaut, but I'd like to see it have a non-combat construction ability or two
    maybe the ability to terraform without the energy cost (ship just has to stay in orbit like a science ship scanning), or maybe a more dramatic ability like extracting stellar material to turn small useless planetoids into viable worlds.
    The first would be a nice savings in the midgame, or a major boon earlier before you have the research.
    The later would be truly unique and game changing. I personally love building up multi-planet and habitat systems to truly capitalize on Starbase modules that affect colonies. It would be a game changer to have an astrocreator make garden systems for me to play with

    Based on Galactic Paragons and First Contact; we might be moving away from small DLC which were species packs to mid size DLC that are hyper focused on one aspect of the game.
    Which makes sense. There are only a couple (if you stretch it) possibilities for more species packs, but a ton of systems that need updating to help mesh other systems together...which if PDX is going to be focusing on other games, helps send of Stellaris on a high note while still giving us the best version to play.
