I just finished it. After two years of on and off reading, taking it all in; the end broke me. It is beyond explanation of how beautiful a story this was/is. Thanks Exurb1a, wherever you may be.

The first 'section' let's call it, from the start to the foundation of Bodhi; I would take notes thinking "wow Johannes represents the fool's journey to become a hero, Ursela represents the priestess, etc." Then I read the part about them sleeping together and thought "ha, he probably wrote this after getting laid from some girl, like how other authors create authentic stories based on moments of their lives." I stopped for a while and thought "damn it can't get much better than this, how is there still over half a book left?"
Then came the part where the next two heroes stepped in (Hisarya and Leo). I stopped taking notes, and just let it work on me instead. I stopped again when Mriga took Hisarya and then they invaded Bodhi. I thought "How the heck is the story going to continue? Are there going to be new characters brought in? I was mad, really that you would just end that emotional journey with the Tereshkov family.
I returned a few months ago having graduated high school, it was tough to keep up reading and life.
This last part really was the magnum opus. With Leo as the main character, the story wrote itself it seemed. A good flow that came to be expected with real emotion. Then with the twist when Anaximander was revealed, it really makes this story only comparable with the Divine Comedy, in that it is a three part journey (loosely) through depression, struggle, and finding meaning.
I hope this isn't too long winded but you should know how you inspire others like me with your stories. You make me feel less alone, more understood. You have even inspired me to write.
You are one of the most important philosophers of our time, most people just don't know that they will be reading about you in English class.

I would do a little research on him before praising him. There are accusations (supported with loads of evidence) of him being a rapist and abuser to his ex girlfriend. It's quite the harrowing read. You can find his face, real name, and such with a quick google search.

Hey Exurb1a, just finished this horrendous book the other day! It was phenomenal! Like, may have changed my life level phenomenal.
Also you should totally read your stuff as audiobooks. I’d probably listen to the story even after reading it just cause it’s you.
I read it almost a year ago now and I have to say, it is one of if not the best book I have ever read and have failed to find anything close since. The Fifth Science and The Prince of Milk were amazing, however, this one was just different. You truly have a gift for words and I hope you never stop writing.

They did say that they came from two different civilizations. One of them focused on the pursuit of social constructs, the other focused on science. They both said their civilization got into stupid, meaningless wars that were trivial at that point. Maybe Geometry for Ocelots is actually a prequel to that video? Or a sequel where the two siblings follow the footsteps of either the bear or the goose? IDK, but it does seem that the bear and goose at the end of everything is at least loosely connected to this book.
In fact, it might be both a prequel and a sequel due to the main belief of Buddhism. You know the video he released on the same day as this trailer that talks about Buddhism? As an off note, he says that the universe according to Buddhists does not have an actual beginning. Allow me to explain this:
Buddhism has no creator god to explain the origin of the universe. Instead, it teaches that everything depends on everything else: present events are caused by past events and become the cause of future events. Indian religions often see space and time as cyclical, such that world-systems come into being, survive for a time, are destroyed and then are remade. In Buddhism this happens naturally without the intervention of gods. One tale told by the Buddha in the Aggan̄n̄a Sutta describes the process of recreation on this grand scale. An old world-system has just been destroyed, and its inhabitants are reborn in a new system. To begin with they are spirits, floating happily above the earth, luminescent and without form, name or sex. Their greed causes them to become physical. A cycle of suffering happens, and eventually ends with all achieving Nirvana and the world being destroyed.
Remember how Bear and Goose both say they think they actually had names, but call themselves by their species because they forgot it a while ago?
I believe that this entire story is a cycle. Bear and Goose create the universe, the people in this new universe make the same mistakes, leading to the end of everything where Bear and Goose make the universe again. An infinite cycle of suffering, just like the Buddhist idea of Samsara.
