Barel is a bike scientist! Has been since his DH days. You should get him involved in some long form stuff about bike setup. Could listen to him all day!
As usual, I'm impressed by the attention to detail and the fact that Fabien can clearly explain why he makes each of these technical choices. I feel like I'm learning a whole lot from every interview I watch with him!
Wonder if he has any special battery mounts as just about everyone on the Strive on forums is suffering from the battery latch issue where the battery is disconnecting, the design is extremely poor and the amount of people with the issue is insane. 9K bike and people are having to zip tie their batteries in !
Such a shame. I'm currently looking to buy an ebike and this was top of my list. Almost pulled the trigger last night but after joining a few FB owners pages and reading about this issue I've decided not to but a strive now. No way am I spending £5749 on something I'll need to fix before I can use.
Fabian seems like a top bloke. Great analysis! But I still don't understand the sizing of the Strive:ON. Why make such a long bike and then put the saddle all the way forward to "shorten" it? And elsewhere we have a 6'2" tester on a Medium, with the seatpost at a crazy height. What's going on with Canyon's sizing? Any idea which one is equivalent to a Spesh S3, a Trek M or a Whtye M (all of which fit me well)?
A bit silly to suggest 2.6 & 2.8” tyres for enduro racing, it doesn’t take a scientist to understand rolling resistance. Iam a bit baffled with Steve’s comment, normally the chat is extremely good. But sooooo good to hear Fabian’s insight into the spec- I geek out over the wheel specs
as strange as it can gets, but bigger tires roll better, and you will notice that on a BIKE. The only problem with fat/plus tires, is precision on the line. Best tyre combo I've tried, with great feeling and grip: 29x2.5 or even 29x2.4 up front 2.6x27.5 rear 2.8x27.5 if you have some sand, or slippery rocks.
What a guy i could listen to him all day talking bikes
Steve and Fabien it's a pleasure to hear from you (great duo) this is a mountain bike master class…

He is a different breed of racer!
Really enjoy when FB is talking. Man knows his stuff. He must be so helpful to Troy and Luca.

same issue with the new whytes… whyte have revised the battery latch to make it stronger
É a minoria.. gostam de extrapolar quando uma pequena percentagem com o problema fala nele
Faz uma sondagem num desses grupos então e vê qual a percentagem
Same problem here and 2 friends too

Great interview! Very insightful and humorous video.
"you don't throw plastic in the nature" what an epic line!
Wow, great vid! I'd love to see the Specialized e-enduro team's Levo pro VS. retail. Keep stuff like this coming...say till the 2024 season starts?
I wonder what % of "mtbs" sold are emtb vs non-emtb in the US. I really liked the openness and information, you can tell he's proud.
Lol lol loves working on his bike.
Fabian must get special built 30mm synthesis rims. The only ones I know of are 29.5 and 31.5 internal width.

I would like to ask: Is the front wheel 29" / rear wheel 27.5''? What is the total length of the vehicle including tires in c/m.?
nice bike
L’anglais de Fabien 👍 au top
Fabian is an expert communicator. Always takes the time to explain everything.
Wish it had a triple crown fork!!
+1 to tear off not allowed!

What size is Fabien barrel ?
5'10"
Hello 😳
Did Canyon fix the battery latch issue ? upgrade
Optimised
Fully! 🤘
What is Fabien's Height?
Lol. Little surprised that he didn’t know that he wasn’t aware that it’s common to not share certain set up info, tire pressures being a big one.
Funny guys
Boris, wash you hat
