I am so pumped! Canyon FINALLY released the Strive:On in the US market! I was going to settle on getting a Torque:On but now I dont have to! This bike will be a much better fit for what I ride locally. Keep the content coming! 🤘
Great video! Could you please do a comparison between your Canyon and the Orbea wild 😇. Everything I've read about says they are the two best ebikes on the market.
I've always found the 36 engagement pretty good. No pedal kickback and lasts longer. I don't notice the lack of engagement like some folks do, each of their own.
SWEET RIDE there Rob. Canyon appears to have come up with a fantastic performer here. Many have wondered though, is there a performance advantage to engineering such a huge gap between motor to frame? Cooling perhaps? Just feels like using the Bosch motor was a last minute change or something hence the irregular gap. Could you explain to us riders why there seems to be a large gap between the motor and frame which, typically along with wires/cables etc would be hidden by the motor cover to make it more aesthetically pleasing to look at. Cheers Rob.
Great review. Words are easy to use without any truth however there is a lot of enthusiasm in your voice when talking about this bike which tells a viewer like me there is passion in your ownership.
I like some of the additions. I've been looking at the EDC gear as I use backcountry research straps becuase I prefer riding packless. I will agree on the Oneup V2 dropper too. Mines been on for years, it's been abused and at worst it's had a quick strip down, clean, regrease and refit. Takes an hour tops. After watching this, you've convinced me on a Strive:On rather than a Spectral:On or Kenevo Expert. Keep up the good work!

Nice Setup! I bougt a CF Strive:On too and want to include the edc tool. Even oneup answered to my question if it will fit that it is not possible only the light will fit. You installed the threaded v1? Is the fork tube long enough? I hope it will fit on the fox 38 performance elite
Hey Rob, how does this compare to the Torque On? I know the Torque will hit the big bike park jumps better, but is the strive that much faster down a DH track? It would be interesting to know the difference. Thank you
Ageed, it'd be great if we could just ride on the auxiliary batt as needed. But I'd rather see a software bump up to 95 nm, if it could handle the stress and set the assist cutout at 28mph. Not asking much are we aye?
Interesting Rob. It made me look at their site and the Geo. The M is actually bigger than Mondraker M (Reach & Wheelbase). That's the biggest surprise to me for sure. On paper, I REALLY like the look of the Geo and it certainly underpins your point about stability. Will you be going Coil ??
Another great video Rob, keep up the good work! One question, you might not have experience of, but its been holding me back from buying this bike. The majority of reviews online about Canyons customer service, is the experience is horrendous! When importing a bike and not going through a local bike shop, this is a very worrying concern and like I say, it doesn't matter how good the bike is, the reviews of the after market experience has totally put me off. What do you think Rob?
Hey Rob, how would you compare this Canyon Strive to that 29 Kenevo you built (or stock one), deciding between these two bikes, looking purely for enduro/DH performance on steep gnarly trails. Thanks
Ok Rob, you got me to get one. I just hope it’s not too big for me. Great info on this video. Any issues with the bike Rob, after having it for almost a year?
Stock configuration honestly is great! This is actually the stock fork, I just had a Kashima upper that I fit. The stock X2 is virtually identical performance wise but just not as much adjustability. And that rest (DT wheels / XT) is great. No need to change!
Nice build! What bike would you recommend as the "one bike to do it all" (riding to work, trails and downhill) this Strive on or the Pole Voima? I´m about the same height as you 188-189cm.
the t9 rubber is good in the begining, after it begins to use the tire loose much grip. my chioce, schwalbe EC front 2.6 soft, rear BB 2.6 soft (the rear grip monster)!
Hello Rob I have a question did you manage to install the bosh powermore 250? Is the engine compatible? Finally, does it fit well at the level of the bottle holder? Finally, is the frame strong enough to accommodate the Powermore 250, is there no risk of cracks or anything else? Thank you Rob for your opinion on this....
I would be happy if I could buy the bike in your config or even buy a framekit from canyon to build it by myself. Where did you get the x01 axs power cable from?
Rob, I built my version of your Cheeb: Rockshox Zeb fork, nice SRAM rear shock, CF wheels (wheels and frame from Light Carbon), Bafang M510 motor, mullet 29”, 27.5” wheels. I have been riding it the last 3 weeks in the Colorado Rockies and have been super impressed with the handling (geo & suspension). The motor has its pluses and minuses - I am hoping I can fiddle with the config to remove the power delivery dead spots I experience … we shall see. My question is how does your Cheeb compare to the Strive ON. Now that I have a positive taste for emtb’s I am wondering what a higher end “store bought” bike would have over a “custom , quasi home-brew” bike.
Hi Rob - great review...we're spewin' that we can't get these in Aus yet.....that said I'd really like to know the real diff between the Strive and Spectral....any chance you'll get an opportunity to compare the pair?
You should try fixing the rear hub to loose the engagement lag. Cheap way to do it is just to cable tie the cassette to the spokes. This will make the drivetrain spin constantly letting you shift while coasting. Since the cranks already have a freehub mechanism the one in the rear hub is not necessary for the function of the bike. Of course the proper way would be to machine a piece of metal without the ratchets and place that into the rear hub.
Hey Rob would you be able to smash the dropper into the seat tube? Also with bike would have the shortest seat tube? I ride the trek rail and that is my biggest complaint. Cheers!!!
I’m glad you said you downsized , i was curious about that , Im normally a large , I am on my nukeproof mega , but the medium on this bike has the same reach s my large
Looking at getting the underdog just because I want a black/orange bike. Are you planning on doing a build for this? If not would the build be the same?

Hi Rob, How does this compare to the trek rail and I thought the new canyon strive on 9 didn’t come with a Bosch motor I thought it came with with the shimano ep8
Rob, can you swap the batteries - so have a 625 (for shorter rides & get a lighter bike) & for longer rides swap it for the 750? Or can you have the 625 & is it compatible with a Bosch range extender?

I don’t see anything that can compete with my custom s works Levo gen 3 with full EXT suspension. Does 35mph if needed and 90nm. EXT smokes anything from fox or RS
That is interesting. It does seem like the Voima and Strive are similar enough in capabilities that it would be hard to justify owning both. I could see it more owning a trail bike with a super enduro. But hey, if you can afford it, that’s awesome! I’d love having both. 😊
I got the Strive ON Undercover after seeing your review about it. It is my first e-bike and I am super happy with it. Thank you. I hope to see more content about the bike in the future. Edit: didn't mean for this to be a reply to above comment. Sorry, YT Comment UI is weird.
Hey Rob. Great video as always. Do you have any insight into why they are not selling this model (Strive:ON) in the US but they are selling the spectral:ON and the torque:ON? It seems weird that they’re not selling one that would be really popular here. Thank you.
I'm not seeing any Bosch models available here in the US. I'm trying to decide to wait for this, go with a Pole, or wait for the gearbox drive system to be offered to the public.
Im torn.... I am 6'5". Live in the us. This bike isnt available. I heard it will be in the fall. Should I buy a kenevo on sale or wait for this. Im coming from an s6 stumpy evo. It fits me soo well. I ride park style trails. I mainly want an ebike to session jump trails.
Geeesss Rob, how many bike do you have?? When are you getting one of thos that have the gearbox/motor combo? I say the parking lot review, but need to see more
Do you genuinely find the slacker HT better? U have a Torque ON and currently running a - 1.0 headset in it and a 60mm - 8deg stem to get a more dominant front end VS the vauge feeling it had OEM.
Looks like a perfect bike. What’s the best e-bike ? The last one I drooled over... Sorry, but I’d like a throttle and 160nm torque.... Someday when e-bike laws are amended to: Just obey all traffic laws; we might get e-bikes that really perform at your desecration. Haul ass up a fire road at 30mph or do the speed limit on the road. Most cars can do 100mph or more. Most people have never driven driven that fast, let alone I. Town... I’ll stay with my diy e-bike that will go 20/25mph uphill without pedaling, or maybe 10mph straight up, and then I’ll help the motor...or turn the the power down and pedal for some exercise. And sure there’s a mechanical issue. Wear on the drive train. Why I’m going back to a good KMC single speed chain. Oh, I’m running a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub. All that power requires few gears. These 1000 watt Bafang’s can be run as single speeds. These new bikes look lovely, but for me, totally disappointing...
@@Another-Address Cost is a big deal. I got lucky with the Covid supplementary checks. 2 checks for $1,200. Retired on Social Security, I never would have been able to build, add the Bafang BBSHD. I gearded the bike where the top speed basically meets the top speed requirement of a 28mph Max. At 70 years old, doing 30mph, the speed limit for cars on city streets now, is just about right. But the bike is built for getting up a trail easy. I really don’t have to pedal at all. So bike was destroyed Oct. 15 in a head on with a pickup truck. It’s taken until now to replace frame, fork and front wheel. $1,100 worth of damage, with $600 worth of stuff. Used fork and front wheel in good nic for $300 and NOS GT Zaskar frame off eBay. And I sold a lot of stuff, like RC cars, my single speed, etc. All stuff I got while working. The cost of living is high and nice bikes seem to be a real luxury... And the laws in Oregon ? Looks like the the police could give a shit. I ran into a guy that’s been riding a Sur Ron all over the place, street and trail and has never been stopped. Sorry that seems impossible in the UK. But things change. I go by the maxim, obey all traffic laws, nobody seems to blink here. You should what they get away with in Los Angeles. Looks like anarchy. Chin up and keep riding and smiling...

Sadly not on these eMTB EXP OS hubs (I just found out!)
I don’t see anything that can compete with my custom s works Levo gen 3 with full EXT suspension. Does 35mph if needed and 90nm. EXT smokes anything from fox or RS
Hiya Rob. Just ordered the same bike. Is your downtube protector a Nukeproof Dissent. Obviously the link works no longer with CRC going down. Thanks
Excellent TY!
Rob, have you tried the TRP Brakes? How do they compare to the Hope? I love my XT brakes my always fun to try new stuff out!
Didn't you just buy a Pole?
You obviously never watched the video? He also has a Pole. Lucky Boy!
Yes 😊
That is interesting. It does seem like the Voima and Strive are similar enough in capabilities that it would be hard to justify owning both. I could see it more owning a trail bike with a super enduro. But hey, if you can afford it, that’s awesome! I’d love having both. 😊
@@sparksfly369 I’ve got 12 bikes. Ever heard of N+1? 😉
Thank you.
I agree it’s a strange one. I did hear that it is coming. Possibly something to do with distribution of Bosch in the US for Canyon, at a guess.
I say the parking lot review, but need to see more
How you ride without a chain guide ? Does your chain stay on the chainring at drops and harsh rides? The new SRAM transmission is good at that?
ROB HAVE YOU TRIED DOMINIION A4?
Great Vid as always Rob, have you tried the comparable TRP brakes vs the hopes? Kind regards from Oregon.

Cost is a big deal.
Hi how does this Bike conpare to the Orbea Wild you tested ...thanks
Is this a previous year model? Not on Canyon website at all…?? Thanks.
Do you have the option of getting it full 29er and not a Mullet? I really don't like the mullets.
