That poor girl never asked for anything except for love. Also, I remember loving the portrayal of the Queen by Claire Foy, she was the Crown but she was still human, with compassion and heart. I was honestly surprised as how cold and unloving the Queen was in this season, with her children, with Diana. but that’s just how people are. he is unhappy because noone let him be happy (also it’s kind of implied that camilla is not that into him, which makes that even more tragic), his parents never actually understood or been particularly kind to him either. so he, like so many others, projects this unhappiness onto diana, cause she is close by, and cause it’s easy. now he has someone to blame for his misery, as he sees her as a literal obstacle between himself and camilla who he (mistakenly?) sees as his ultimate happy ending. it’s just like ann said, he lives in a fantasy. Perhaps, but they are definitely not portrayed as adulterous vilains, the series also points out the fact that they were in love, but not allowed to marry. That's what I like about this series, it shows multiple angles of the story and the struggles of all the characters.
@Janey Jester I am kind of same. I started with season 4 because the show didn't interest me earlier. But because of Diana's story, I gave it a try, two episodes in and I enjoy it so far. Not sure what happened in earlier seasons but I can perfectly catch up with the happenings and events in the story.
The most iconic episode is the 7th, even a stone would cry. Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon and everyone in there had more honesty, smile and love than any royal ever had. This was the best way to honour them and to see and know their world without them saying any word. Diana and Margareth Thacher were the stars of this season, but those two ladies Nerissa and Katherine, were the crown. Thank you for telling their story to see the world of those lovely people.
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for bringing Claire Foy back for the entire opening of episode 8! It was so wonderful to see her as the queen again! And MANY MANY thanks to Claire for coming back and doing such a wonderful scene! You and everyone in the scene were brilliant! It was truly a blessing to see ...may God bless you all wonderfully today!
I was stunned by the scene in S3 when Philip and Elisabeth returned from their dialogue about Margaret's future role where she realizes that her wish wasn't granted. It's so heartbreaking. Helena says everything with just a look.
As someone who lived in the UK during this time, I would like to address comments that this Season portrays Charles as spoilt, selfish and immature. That is how most people in Britain saw him during his early years of marriage, even though he was more popular in his youth. He flaunted his relationship with Camilla and made no attempt to hide it. This infuriated the public, because here was a man who had every privilege life could offer, but always wanted more. Moreover, the palace would have tolerated his affair if he had been discrete. If Prince Phillip had affairs (which many including this series have claimed) at least he did not damage the monarchy. However, Charles' irresponsible behaviour led to him becoming an object of ridicule for a time. It is the Queen's sustained dedication to her duties, and the good character of Prince William, which eventually saved the British monarchy and restored its popularity in Britain.
The whole cast here is stunning, but for me Josh O'Connor was the breakout performance of season 3. He was a perfect Charles, especially in the investiture episode- he was vulnerable, and likeable. I feel his character is going to change irreversibly in this new season.
Thank you for your words. Might I inquire about the sentiments around the Lady Diana and her role in re-popularising the monarchy in a time when the royals were losing popularity with the masses, who felt that resources would be better off concentrated on fixing the country and its economy? Deeply tragic and touching persona and may she rest in peace.
I have been on watch on The Crown ever since the first trailer of S1 came out, and I can't believe S4 is going to be released tomorrow. I am so in deep with this series 😥
10:44 Awwww, I wanted to see Olivia sliding down the slide, but they cut it. Season 4 won't come out until tomorrow, and I'm already going to miss this extraordinary, brilliant cast! I surprisingly grew more attached with these actors and actresses than the one's from season 1 & 2. If only we could have one more season with this cast.
I can't say enough how much of a brilliant job these group of people did. The cinematography was otherworldly and it honestly felt like the biggest honour to watch this series. The first time I had watched it, I actually gave up after halfway through the first episode and didn't come back and someone convinced me to get back to it. I am SO grateful to that person because this series ended up being one of my all-time favourites because of how excellently produced it was! I'm not even a fan of the royal family, never will but the way the directors capture you in this series, you never forget. Good job to each one of them!

But anyone who knows the Queen personally will tell you that she is very funny actually and that doesn’t come over at all . I don’t think with her family she is that stiff unemotional person that Olivia C gives us.

Amazing cast. Gillian Anderson nailed Thatcher. Olivia Coleman nailed the Queen. Tobias Menzies nailed it when I first noticed him in Rome. Then he does GoT and nails it. Since then, he keeps popping up in the best shows or films. Then there's Helena Bonham-Carter. She always nails it. Pure quality actress. She mentioned something interesting about how your character can rub off on you, especially one you become familiar with and play the role for an extended period of time. Apparently, it's not uncommon for an actor to temporarily adopt some of their character's traits when they're making a film or in the run of a play. Some do it unwittingly, some will intentionally stay in character whether they're working or not. I believe Daniel Day-Lewis adopt this method. As much as I can respect an actor's devotion to their craft and appreciate how constantly staying in character can have a powerful impact on your performance, I am also reminded of the legendary story about Dustin Hoffman and Lawrence Olivier during the filming of, Marathon Man. Hoffman was a method actor and hammered himself during the shoot. He became a Marathon Man, running all the time. Lost a fair bit of weight. Whereas, Olivier was old skool, a classically trained Shakespearean actor. Method acting did not compute. After Hoffman stayed awake for two or three days in order to look more convincing as a torture victim, Olivier made his famous quip. Although, the exact wording changes from story to story, the basic message is the same. "My dear boy, why don't you simply try acting?" lmao!
@@777cmr222 Thanks for your comment. I didn't know he was in Outlander. To be honest, Outlander has never appealed to me. Plus, it hasn't had much promotion in the UK. At least, I haven't noticed any. If anything, you highlighted how he is in demand as an actor. Personally, I believe the best actors are not the huge stars. Huge stars are destined to fade, which makes any lesser part of their career pale in comparison. The enduring actor is the character actor. They are still well known for their work and retain their celebrity throughout their career. By keeping their star at a constant shine, they don't appear to fade. Also, their career isn't linked to the success of film or TV show they appeared in. Instead, they're judged by their performance, no matter if it was a flop or not. It's how they keep their demand, stay in the business and tend to have the longest careers and remain well-known. The vast majority of my favourite actors are character actors. I suppose the best example is, Maggie Smith. She's had an exceptional career and still works in her old age. Hollywood has never hyped her career and she's maintained her star appeal without it. Then again, she is British. lol British actors appear to know precisely how to keep their ego in check. Even child stars tend to grow up without being overly affected. The Harry Potter kids are a perfect example. So glad Rowling decided against hiring American kids. Freddie Highmore is another. I'm not saying everyone is perfect, but they do have a better track record.
Casting, wardrobe and make up was right on. The acting was perfect. I didn't want it to end. I was so sad when I realized I had just watched the last episode of season 4. I am already looking forward to season 5. I never want the series to end.

“It’s not my job to tell the true story of Charles. It’s not what we’re doing at all”. We definitely have to remember that as a show is a portrayal and story based off of truth with a lot of fillers to make it a show. Because the actors are so good and so is the writing, it’s hard to remember that it is the show and we have to hear everything from the real people themselves and their actions in public.

She birthed two healthy heirs and brought possitive world wide attention to the RF through philanthropy and an amazing personality. She did for them what they couldn't do for themselves. She was one of the best things that ever happened to the RF and they blew it...
True. The only royal i love! Only her.
Something tells me that Charles and Camilla are gonna hate this season 😂
Lo spero ,per quei due inutili
Perhaps, but they are definitely not portrayed as adulterous vilains, the series also points out the fact that they were in love, but not allowed to marry.
That's what I like about this series, it shows multiple angles of the story and the struggles of all the characters.
Was thinking the same thing. People are going to hate Camilla all over again.
@@H3nry488 It gave me perspective as well. However he didn’t have to rub it in Diana’s face it’s like he didn’t grow up.

Emma is the first believable Diana I have ever seen! Very believable and her pathos in character so moving.
The most heartbreaking thing about The Crown is that for the show works, you need time jumps, you need to say goodbye for some good actors😭❤️
I've had to rewind the scene of Princess Margaret saying "It's wicked, and it’s cold hearted" over and over again. It gave me chills
I was stunned by the scene in S3 when Philip and Elisabeth returned from their dialogue about Margaret's future role where she realizes that her wish wasn't granted. It's so heartbreaking. Helena says everything with just a look.
@@AqualungsBreath Agreed, the emotions she is able to display through her gaze is incredible
Such good acting. I just wonder if Princess Margaret actually felt that way or cared as much in real life?
That scene is so intense....and my Favourite of all in the series..... 🔥🔥🔥

4 amazing women, 4 amazing actresses, 4 talented people. This is why I pay internet (and Netflix) 💪💜
I don’t live in England but I agree with you, totally.
That was throroughly well explained, thank you!
Thanks so much for that interesting insight!
Imagine being in the presence of Olivia, Erin, Helena, & Gillian? Holy cow.
I have been on watch on The Crown ever since the first trailer of S1 came out, and I can't believe S4 is going to be released tomorrow. I am so in deep with this series 😥

Awwww, I wanted to see Olivia sliding down the slide, but they cut it.

Good job to each one of them!
gillian just is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
As is Olivia
Gillian Anderson is hugely underrated. and extremely beautiful
Her Tatcher portrayal is brilliant.
So why on earth did she have to play Thatcher? Not her role.

The Charles character is good. Emma Corrin portrays Diana's vulnerability very well. It makes you want to cry the whole time.
Olivia Colman = Perfection. Her performance is even more inspired in “Broadchurch.”
I found her better than season 3 when she was a bit "dull". More nuances as well.
This series are pure perfection, the production, the cast, the dialogues, everything

I've enjoyed Olivia Colman's work for so long. She is truly a gifted actress and I await her next role. I hope it's a comedy because she can be so funny.
4:18 omg this part. they're amazing, can't wait to watch all the episodes
Gillian, Helena and Olivia. Three absolutely brilliant actresses. I hope we get to see them working together again.
This is going to be such a great season. It's going to be heart wrenching when The Crown reaches 1997 in Season 5 or 6.
I assume it will be season 5 in 2022 based on how they cover a decade or so every season. Season 6 will be the last season and i assume it will cover charles marriage to camila and William and kates wedding. Theres a theory that it will end with the 2012 london olympics and marking the queens 6 decades on the throne. Maybe go to Prince Georges birth. So thats 2023 i hope after a break they do a surprise season 7 and cover harry and meagan and prince Andrews recent scandal
@@SuperKing604 I think the Diamond Jubilee and Prince George's birth would be a perfect way to end!
SuperKing604 I guess, they said that after '97 it would be political and wrong to portray the characters as the incidents are still very up-to-date.
Apparently it will end in 1997.
I read that it will end in the early 2000s (02-03)
OH. MY. GOD. that is Gillian Anderson, Scully from X-Files. Oh. My God. I have never imagined. She did a magnificent job playing Thatcher. Standing ovation.

Seeing them all together singing to dancing queen melted my heart. I'm really gonna miss them ❤❤😭
The whole cast of the Crown has been superb! Olivia Coleman is such a talented actress and I just hope that for season 4 she gave the Queen a little bit more emotion and passion.
@Lockjaw Claire Foy looked nothing like the Queen if that's your logic.
she’s not supposed to show much emotion, she’s portraying the queen..
The Queen does not do emotion and passion. That is why she is so loved and respected.
@Rosamund Powell I do but she also human with emotions and passion. I understand that when she meets the public she Reserved etc but at home..?
But anyone who knows the Queen personally will tell you that she is very funny actually and that doesn’t come over at all . I don’t think with her family she is that stiff unemotional person that Olivia C gives us.
The whole cast is incredible! I've been watching since season 1 and every year I anticipate it's return. I didn't recognize Gillian Anderson for quite a while her transformation is so absolute. Their Diana is very good, also.
Gillian and Emma were WOW in this season! The Crown never goes wrong with casting....brilliant casting all the way around! Can't wait to see who carries s5 and 6!
Are the 53 dislikes from the Royal Family? This was a brilliant season 4. Although it is fictionalized, this drew me back to the 1980's in a way that the multitude of documentaries on that era never have. Thank you for the wonderful work.
I went back and started watching from season one, and I must say Claire Foy is fantastic 👏👏👏
The actress who plays Princess Anne deserves just as much credit for her brilliant portrayal
When Tobias mentions the IDES OF MARCH on that margaret thatcher betrayal scene.. it reminds me of him being BRUTUS which did the julius cesar stabbing in the Rome series
“It reminds me of...”. Ummmmm...that’s what you were SUPPOSED to get out of that scene

The entire show has done a fantastic job of interpreting history and I want to say thank you for doing your work so well! What an amazing cast and crew.

Everyone was terrific. Absolutely amazing actors.
"the disintegration of her marriage" she never had a marriage. Having said that, the Brit's really knock our socks off with their talent, behind the camera and in front of it. LOVE The Crown! Thank you!!!
I loved Margaret Thatcher!! My 18 year old daughter and I have been watching this series and have learned so much. Please continue to bring us this kind of shows. All the actors do a great job!!
I love Olivia Colman. She is mad as a box of cats, she is a joyous human being, she is funny and always looks like she is having so much fun. She is a full mood and i love her for that. She is a national treasure. and she is so good as an actress that this bonkers and funny and slightly naughty mischievous person can just so easily slip into the really serious and stoic characters and not slip for a second is impressive. like honestly if i could have a celebrity adopt me i would choose Olivia. she is a delight.
Emma Corrin did a splendid job in portraying Princess Diana. She captured everyone's heart with her innocence and purity. I won't be surprised if she got an award for this. 😌💅🏻

I just love how they portray Charles' victimhood in a way, and how they spent an entire season making us feel sorry for him in a way, and now they went "aww you felt sorry for him? Let's how you feel about him after this" lol they balanced his victimhood and his inner victimizer really well
Why?
Seeing the cast just grooving to Dancing Queen made me smile so wide!
Mustn't forget Tobias Menzies' portrayals of Frank and Black Jack in Outlander!
Then again, she is British. lol
British actors appear to know precisely how to keep their ego in check.

I started looking online for Thatcher after season 4. I was socked when i saw the real one and how Gillian nailed it . I am following Gillian since 1993 when X Files debuted and i think in 2020 that she is literally one of the best actors of our generation .
Can we talk about the scene where charles and diana dance with can't take my eyes of you? 😭😭
This was one of the most beautifully created, produced and written shows I have seen in decades, positively addicting! I love all of these characters.
I'm completely obsessed, the acting is phenomenal. I have watched season 4 twice so far.
Just from the trailer, I can already tell that Gillian Anderson is a more believable Thatcher than Meryl Streep was.
Not seen it yet. But thought Streep was brilliant.
I thought they both were terrible. Thatcher gets no break...
