- Emma Corrin and Josh O'Connor from Netflix's 'The Crown' school us in royal slang. From "elevenses" to "Operation London Bridge," Emma and Josh sound like "blue blood" in this episode of Slang School.

the two members who didn't contribute anything to the group project and then were chosen to give the presentation in front of the class
thank you for the laugh at 3 am hhaahaha
the best description Everrrr!
So true
Hahahahaha you nailed it
Me. Always. 😂♥️ this comment is gold.
Josh O'Connor is much too good looking to play Charles.
And decent!
Prince Charles wasn't bad looking when he was younger, though...
@@Tyanes17 well I think he was pretty ugly lol but that's my opinion only (but comparing to Josh he was not that good at all)
@@Tyanes17 Dude. He looks much much better now than how he looked back then
And Emma isn't striking enough to be Diana
When you want to hate Charles but Josh is so cute and you can’t...
Yess
@Simon Cowell nahhhh he's a snack
I dont get why is everybody hating on Prince Charles, i mean ,he wasn’t in love with Diana, and still was forced to marry her, even though he loved another woman, just imagine.
@@thetrailll it's not diana's fault? at least don't threaten her just because of your unlucky life?
@@thetrailll Being in love with another woman shouldn't allow you to be emotionally neglectful to your wife. His situation was sad, but Diana's was worser.
I don't think I have seen any two people less prepared to explain anything.
We, the people who would actually click and watch this, are much more prepared to actually answer these questions...and it is SO FRUSTRATING
I just think they were just sort of expected to know them and weren’t given them to prep. Which considering the fact neither of them are actually royalty they didn’t know them
Izzy Farmer These aren’t all royal terms. I knew all but one
S RKH I know but usually I’m these videos the people are clearly given time to prepare or experts in the field . It was abundantly clear they weren’t given prep time like everyone else and these aren’t universal terms which is they didn’t just naturally know them
Edit: these are terms only really used by the upper class and neither of them are upper class which why they struggled to avoid that very predictable outcome they should’ve been given them in advance so they knew them
Izzy Farmer The title was wrong for what was presented. They’re just too young to have heard many of these terms. Plus, you don’t have to be “upper class” to know these terms, 😆
It’s nice to see Diana and Charles so friendly with one another.
😂
LOL
Hahah true
LMAO
Certainly, very nice!
Emma Corrin looks *so* much like a young Jodie Foster
She really does!
And nothing like Diana.
yes thank u
Actually! :o
I see Clarice Starling not Diana
As a british person, can i just say this is an accurate depiction of how the average British person would describe these words
It’s really not! It highlights thick people, not average people! Emma thought afternoon tea at 4pm was the same as elevensis ffs!
Honestly yes omg
@@JulieWallis1963 I’m in the US and I know more than these 2 chuckleheads. “Of the British Empire”?? 🤣
I can’t possibly believe they were being real here. Unless they’re incredibly thick.
@@JulieWallis1963 who cares
These two would definitely not pass a citizenship test.
Still they get the lump sums and we get to wash their dishes. 🐽🐷🐖
😂😂
They get the citizenship by birth right.
@@AuroraChernobyl The OG commenter isn't questioning their domicile or britishness, she knows that they are British already. She just stated that if they took a citizenship test there's no way they're clearing it.
People here saying they weren't prepared for this interview. But isn't that how interviews are supposed to be?
I think people are meaning that their knowledge of what they are answering is very limited. Quite a lot of the answers they are giving are incorrect and as they have been paid to play these characters and probably research these things, it's just quite funny. A lot of this slang is fairly obvious common British knowledge which seems to have bypassed them both. But they are young and this can be excused. I only know a lot of these answers due to watching the news and reading my gran's Hello!
Ask your next potential employer?
fun fact: the most expensive pigment is indeed purple, the is why there are no(or very little) flags with the color purple on them. It's considered "royal" because monarchs used to wear purple suits and dresses in order to show their status.
You are talking about the emperors of Rome. Who happened not to be considered royalty by their contemporaries. Royal blue isn't purple, by the way.
So wealth, even back to the Romans. Yup makes sense to flaunt it if you have it or what's the point.
@@szabados1980 Roman emperors wore purple all the way to the fall of Constantinople in 1453. the Queen's father wore purple in his coronation in 1936.
& Crown Royal comes in a purple bag
Blue was the colour of French royalty not English.
They’re like the happy version of Charles and Diana.

If we don’t get more Princess Anne this season I swear
iwilitu YES! We better!
laduchesse why??
@@antoniogalindo4869 Because she's the best royal ever both in fiction and in real life.

WELL WE SHOULD
How is Josh o connor is so likeable in real life, when i had grown to hate him with all my being in the series

Did you not feel any empathy for Charles’?
it’s this crazy thing called...acting 😱
@@hateitorlovification not at all
Okk they are confused AF. But it's adorable.
They have no idea what they’re talking about and it’s painfully hilarious
7 minutes of 2 posh British actors knowing nothing about posh British society.
They're not posh
@@gabrielsanabriaibieta Just Well-Spoken!
There’s a difference between actual posh royal/upper class people and people who are upper middle class, with rich to moderately well off parents but, unlike the upper classes, actually worked to their position
You mustn’t be British Bcos they’re not posh
I went to a posh school. None of us were posh. Maybe 2 or 3. Actual posh people are exceptionally rare. There's only like 10 schools that produce that level of poshery.
I'm pretty sure she was right about the purple....
YES! Purple is the most difficult pigment to make and therefore the most expensive, that's why only royals and rulers could afford it
When Josh talked about other colours I was saying no no nooo you’re so wrong 😂
Yeah he was thinking of Lapis which was more of a thing in the classical era. Also she was right about a lot, she came prepped like it was a game show!😂
It’s about time for Josh O’Connor to get more recognition 🥰
Yeah. He was great at Emma although his role was not so big.
So trueeee!!!
They have NO idea what's going on and I'm here for it
I'm the only one thinking that they had a lot of chemistry. I know, their characters fought all season, but even fighting they had chemistry.
I think part of that chemistry is how amazingly good those two actors are. They really, really come across at just how horrible that match up was, Josh completely in character and Emma so completely in character. Josh has stated how horrible he felt after fight scenes with the queen and Diana - as in, "I'm sorry, I really didn't mean it". Those two have skyrocketed in my opinion of them as actors. Certainly they aren't the trash that passes for Hollywood on this side of the pond.
Josh:”well interesting enough we are sat by a cup of tea”
Emma: “or a BOWL of tea” 🤣
Cast of The Crown learns Royal Slang at the same time the audience does.
These two explain these slang like how I try to remember a dream I had at 3pm
Diana had no "Bridge Code". Thats why they used the Queen Mothers Code (Tay Bridge) to arrange Dianas funeral.
Diana was no longer a member of the royal family in the moment of her death. They gave her the funeral due to public pression
Diana finally got the Pont de l'Alma or Alma's Bridge... (😕, désolé, c'est de l'humour français)

Josh saying that he doesn’t know anyone with the title of OBE, yet half the cast of The Crown has it. 😂😂😂 i love him
(Sorry, English is not my first language)
He was being cheeky, he knew half of the cast has OBE
Who else thinks they're both going to become huge stars!
They knew so little. The real definitions should have been made clear in subtitles underneath.
At 3:23, Josh: We might know someone who has an OBE
Olivia Colman: AM I A JOKE TO YOU
I believe she has a CBE
HBC?
CBD?
I am a US citizen, never having lived in or been immersed into British culture, but I know that OBE - Is not "Of the British Empire" OBE - Is "OFFICER of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" as opposed to MBE which would be MEMBER of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire".

Have you seen photos of emma dressed as a pregnant diana??So sweet

This should be called T"he Crown Cast Teaches Us How Little They Know About Their Own Country."
To be fair, they're trying to explain a language variation (register) mostly exclusive to the upper class in British society. While they play characters belonging to this class, the actors themselves might not know the jargon and slang the royals or upper class use unless it's actually something that their characters talk about.
So I dont think it's fair to say they dont know about their own country when these might not even be general knowledge to the majority of the UK.
No kidding. Buck House?.? They didn’t know? How much are they paid?
@@pauldevonian6158 Way too much it appears to one.

I love how they know nothing. This is so charming and I can’t wait to see season 4. They’re going to knock it out of the park!
FYI: OBE - 'Order of the British Empire'.
In Chile we use the exact same term “elevenses” for tea time in the afternoon but in Spanish: “Once” or “Tomar la Once”

Here after watching 4 season. Oh, they are so good actors. In real life they have so chemistry and, except for the Australia ball scene, they can portray a couple that have no sparkles. Just waiting for a romantic movie with both of them.
Woooo! They have way too much chemistry to be playing Charles and Diana! Cant' wait for season 04!
It is my understanding that "blue blood" initially referred to the fact that veins, which are blue, strongly show up if you have white skin.

"A bowl of tea" is the kind of British stuff i expected while clicking on this video.
"I don't think I got a bridge... Probably the Dartford crossing" 😂👌

they have chemistry. i can't wait to see them on screen playing one of the most controversial couple
Netflix went through the trouble to change everybody's outfits in all these Crown videos but did not bother to change Emma's boots, once.
So heartwarming to see Charles and Diana have a genuine conversation after all these years.
So.....they don’t know. Why did I know the answers before them?
2 days until season 4 , so excited !!!
Yes, josh knows his trivia. It was the lapiz lazuli "rock" that made the blue pigment very expensive back then ... 💙
These two stumbling with the knowledge is hilarious. Look forward to the next season with Diana.

I CANNOT WAIT!!! There's that twinkle in Josh O'Connor's eyes. Emma Corrin is perfect as Diana. Striking beauty.
I am really surprised they didn't know more of this, especially the royal stuff, having played the roles of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Was this recorded before the filming of Season 4?

If only Di and Charles had Half, at least half of their chemistry...
Diana's funeral was "technically" Operation Tay Bridge, which was the Queen Mother's funeral plans and the only one that had been prepared and practiced at the time of Diana's death. They just tweaked it a little to match her personality and life.
