I’m genuinely going to miss these two in their roles as the Queen and Prince Philip, they were iconic. Praying for flashback scenes of them in the new seasons. Claire and Matt will always be the Queen and Prince Philip in my heart. Absolutely incredible.
"You just sorta watch and clap, and ummm... You know, you're just really pleased when it doesn't go quite as well." Ha ha ha ha! The most honest response ever.
The interviewer is the best panel moderator I’ve seen in a long time. Respectful, he knew his stuff, and he let them talk instead of some people who can’t stop interjecting.
Matt seems more "royal" than the actual family members. He comes across as a cultured gentleman. Excellent choice for the series. And yes, they WOULD make a GREAT couple!!! 12:39 - best part of the interview!!!!
Because Matt still manages to keep his private self, which we're unaware of, unlike the Royal family that are exposed even when they just have to go out and do normal things.
You must have missed his glide over the inbreeding of the corgis. When Claire cut him off, I’ll guarantee he was going to imply that the royal family might be suffering from the same problem.
Yeah he’s such an annoyingly posh man boy... but then he’s an actor and a creative so his vibe is wonderfully satirical and lampoons the whole idea of class at the same time as benefitting from it. The juxtapositions run deep with that one 😂
"You just sorta watch and clap, and ummm... You know, you're just really pleased when it doesn't go quite as well." Ha ha ha ha! The most honest response ever.
The parts where Claire Foy does those scenes without speaking are amazing! That’s truly how I remember her in The Crown. Especially when she looked at Philip during the marriage ceremony scared to death omg it was so real. Also, when she was being told what Jackie Kennedy said and it literally turned her head. She’s a true artist ❤️
It's official, I've seen more than enough interviews: I'm in LOVE, LOVE LOVE with the two of them. I will continue to watch their future careers and I'm even gonna take a look into Dr. Who just for Matt Smith. So very much going to miss them on the show, I might not even keep watching.
Matt is the 11th Doctor. I love 9th and 10th but just for Matt you can start the show from 5th season. The show got new director and the show can be watched without the other 4(but I love them so if you want to backtrack I recommend it :) )
Yess, everyone should watch Doctor Who! If you like Matt Smith, he's the 11th Doctor, you might really like David Tennant, who's the 10th. Also since you enjoyed the Crown you might actually enjoy the original Doctor Who show, which are doctors 1 to 8. Anyways... Hope you did watch Matt and enjoyed it :)
@@GoogleUser-dwcy yes! Ive watched a couple episodes but only with a buddy since were trying to get into it together. Haven't seen him in a while so haven't watched in a while but i was intrigued the last time i watched. A little confused though. 15:12 Love how when they were talking about the corgi's and how they must all be related and inbred, Matt wants to make a joke: "and that's..." and then stops himself and Claire knows exactly where he wanted to go... 😂😂😂
I love Claire and Matt so much. Their characters made The Crown, Claire really. I am gonna miss them. I've been struggling with the thought for two days now since I finished the second season. Sad
Claire Foy and Matt Smith were just perfect! In fact I thought the cast leads of the first two seasons were excellent, infinitely better than the ones that followed. Olivia Coleman just did not feel right for me, and neither did the others.
Totally agree with your opinion. And the role of Margaret, after Vanessa Kirby, feels more like a characterization than a character. A let down all around.
Delightful conversation! My one regret is that when they discussed Claire Foy's ability to carry scenes nonverbally, no one thought to say "We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!"
I am from Odessa, Ukraine. I live in Philadelphia, USA.Love England. People Of England ! Big Thanks For Great Actors, Great Musicians, Poets , And Great Movies. Something Magic Going On In Your Country . :) Thanks Great Britain!
Love these two as a couple...now we can say this with their both being single♥️♥️ Totally tuned in with one another, listen astutely, encourage like each others greatest fan....and they love one another’s humour 👑👑 Watch this space💞
@@Irawry0u i did miss them, but i loved watching the lovestruck, brooding charles. he had all my attention towards the end of s3 lol. was a pleasant surprise.
Funny coming back and hearing some of these tidbits. Claire's question on how the showmakers prep the audience for the new cast in the first episode and now we have the answer from the two coins in Episode 1. And then Matt bringing up the barbecue, considering what Episode 4 is about.
It WONT DO AS WELL! It will not ever be the same without these two! Don’t even want to watch it now knowing these two amazing actors are not in it!im so sad.
Ellice The ratings might've gone down but, imo the shows quality improved compared to the 2nd half of Matt's tenure in the Tardis. Peter Capaldi has been one of the best Doctors ever. He's certainly up there with Tom Baker and David Tennant in my personal list.
MrAzmatMahmood That's cool, it's all down to taste, they both have pros and cons but I choose 11s charisma and heart over 12s cold and creepiness, but anyway good luck to Jodie, hope she's the best yet
You've definitely got a point, it all comes down to taste. I love the colder, darker, ruder and more mysterious Doctor (don't know where you got creepy from) we got from Capaldi in series 8. From series 9 onwards he mellowed a lot though and if I'm honest, personally I liked him best in his first series (still love him later on) but what do you think of Capaldi after series 8?
MrAzmatMahmood Haha I can't point to his creepiness if I'm honest, I've just felt uncomfortable watching him, but I'd agree he mellowed out. Why do you think the shows improved recently? Imo series 10 was the worst ever, 12 is a bit victim to poor writing compared to past series (with exception of some eps like the husbands of river song)
Ellice I think series 6 and 7 are the two worst series since the revival. One has a overly complicated, convulted arc and is solved in the most baffling, unsatisfactory way. The other has no proper arc whatsoever and no two parters, meaning many episodes have rushed, anti climatic resolutions. Series 8 is still not on the level of all the RTD series and series 5 but it's a definite improvement. It actually has a substantial arc, that is concluded in a relatively satisfactory way. I like the darker Doctor more, rather than the silly, goofy 11th Doctor, don't get me wrong, I love 11. Series 9 has many great episodes like Under the Lake/Before the Flood, Face the Raven and Heaven Sent but unfortunately the Hybrid arc is botched in the finale. So series 9 is still not as good as any of the RTD series or series 5 but on the whole better than series 6, 7 and 8. Series 10 is a solid series with very few bad episodes. It's consistent throughout. It's series finale is probably the best of the Moffat era. Definitely the best series since series 5.
This guy Matt Smith is not messing around. Six months ago I didn't know he existed. Since then I've seen him portray Prince Philip and Charles Manson, both brilliantly. That's quite a range.
I really liked their depictions of the Queen and Prince Philip. They were the best. Claire managed to capture the Queens solitude at difficult times, burdened with family or state problems. The Queen must have got sick of family members who couldn’t keep their pants on or stick to protocols, when she herself was beyond reproach. “The crown happened to fall on MY head!” Summed it up. Since then the series has run been slanted with less respect and understanding of the difficulties of the senior royals.
These two are brilliant in The Crown. Yes they are both well spoken, without a doubt..but they seem down to earth. Watch a programme called EastEnders, then you will hear how many people in London talk. Thank you for sharing.
I see that Peter Morgan's depiction of the breakup of Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend's relationship was wrong, judging from Claire Foy's comment. Both the Queen and Anthony Eden went out of their way to give Margaret a chance to marry Townsend. The only thing Margaret would have been forced to give up was being in the line of succession to the throne. The same would have happened to her children. This eventually happened to Prince Michael of Kent when he married a divorcee of Catholic faith. But she and Townsend would have been allowed to remain in Britain and Margaret would have been able to continue receiving a Civil List payment.
Margaret and Peter would have to live England for few years. And she would loose her privileges. Margaret would be addressed Mrs.Margaret Townsend. Watch this episode again. She chose her status . She made her bed. Love this show.
But Elizabeth being there was not a fluke, it would have been inevitable because had King Edward been able to marry Wallis and remain King, they obviously still could not have children and Elizabeth would have become Queen anyway.
And I've always thought he - Matt - looks a bit like Harry. He really does, especially his forehead. I always send the Harry deniers to pix of the Duke of Edinburgh as a young man, and they look so alike! The new Philip? Meh. Can't get excited about S3.

He does sound like a royal on and off "The Crown".
