This early episode was shot at 545am and Jon shows exactly how he prints documents, works through some kinks, and gets it all done showing real tips and tricks with being efficient during the morning.
When you print Loan Documents you want to be highly organized with your Notary business. The more organized you are as a Signing Agent, the more orders you are able to fit in your schedule every single day.
In case you didn't know, Notary Signing Agent, Loan Signing Agent, Certified Signing Specialist and Real Estate Notary are all the SAME thing, so don't be confused!
No matter what you call yourself, printing loan docs correctly and staying organized is what its all about on your mission to helping others.
The printer used is an HP P3015 that Jon bought new. We'll attach some links for you if you're in the market for a great printer. This one prints over 40 PPM and is dual tray and laserjet, and we LOVE HP for printers.

1.get the carrier pouches
2.client sends the signing agent docs with instructions (dress code, black/blue ink pen, address etc)
3. Print all doc and carrier label
4. Print a second copy ( keep 2nd carrier label copy)
5. Check numbers are good
6. Check for quick claims ( depending on state, no witnesses)
7. Double check list ( aka client instructions)
8. Have a lot of printing paper and great printer
Just got certified for basic notary ( have no idea what I’m getting into) but now heard of signing agent and going for it. Very scared but need money and be my own boss :/

Hello Jon you mentioned you order fed ex or UPS plastic envelopes. Do you use those to mail back documents and if so where do you order them from?

You can have them copy it ahead of time, you can have them sometimes send it to who needs it, and majority of time you just snap a picture on your phone and upload to where it needs to go, then just delete it. Is it appropriate to make front and back copies in order to save on the cost of paper for the signer's copy that you leave behind?
Don't do that. When they make mistakes (and they will) you need their clean copy (one sided) to send back with the docs. This is by far one of the most thoughtful questions we've ever received, nice job! Yes, the top tray is thinner and holds less paper, and the bottom one is thicker and holds maybe 2-3 times the amount of paper as the top tray. That means you want letter in the bottom since most of the loan package is letter sized, and this helps you to not have to reload paper as much as saves you time and also wear and tear on the printer long term too. If you have legal in the bigger section, and letter in the smaller section, you'd be filling letter way more than you need to wasting time. Thanks for your comment! Is there a reason u use the plastic envelopes instead of the cardboard envelopes or is it just a personal preference? I noticed UPS has some envelopes with the plastic shipping pouch already attached so u don’t have to attach it and wondered if maybe there is a reason, that I’m unaware of, that u don’t use those instead.

Hey Peter, great questions. The cost of paper and ink is negligible for the amount you're paid per signing. The concept of "buy by the acre, and sell by the foot" is what I like to use as a concept here. Buy in bulk and things work out. There are certainly strategies with that, but put it this way, if it costs several dollars to print and you're getting paid over $100 a signing, does it technically matter the true "cost of printing"? Not really, you just do as many signings as you can since the costs are more than covered. The $75-$200 range depends on WHO you get the order from, and we specialize in helping you get paid the higher ones. We had a student cash a $400 check a few weeks ago using my system. How do I know which document needs to be legal size or latter size when printing them out?
He mentions how in video around the 4:30 mark. Some contracting companies will tell you to print on legal paper if you dont have a dual tray printer but always check with them first!
