Easy business, I've been doing it since I started as a NY notary public
Do you have to be a notary to provide apostille (courier) services?
@@jamilael-gizuli4600 no you don’t have to be a notary, but what I found is a lot of documents do require a notary, I.e., POA. Also doing the notary yourself help eliminate a bad notarization by a notary that does it incorrectly.
Apostilles are a great addition. We wrote a book on this magnificence of this business model as well as many other similar concepts that notaries can tap into just as easily!
I had to get an Apostille - it was quite the process! I'd be excited to offer this as a notary
Can i ask you for help please like a video 1 on 1 call
I was made for this business. Love it.
Thank you for this great information! I’ve heard about Apostille but the way you broke it down in such layman’s terms made it easier to comprehend. I’m going to sign up for your course tonight!

Thank you for this information. What is the average charge to do Apostilles? I'm in NY close to Albany so this would be ideal for my business. Thank you!!
These are not considered "notarial" acts, so the Notary may establish any relevant service fees with the client.
Thank you this was very helpful. I would love to talk to you more about Apostille Services.
This was great information. If the document originated from Wisconsin it has to be Apostille in Wisconsin.

Of course! Thanks for watching.
I’m in Colorado and I had a client try and do an apostle of their drivers license. It got rejected cause the notary didn’t cross out the other parts of the doc. So I learned that today and redid it. Now I wanna do apostle. Is there a directory of agencies you use and what fees do you charge.

So, Do we need partners in other states to handle the multi-state apostilles?
If I’m an IL notary but a document originates in AL, do I need to fly to Alabama Secretary of State to get the document apostilled? Or can I partner with an AL Notary to handle it on my behalf?
Thank you!
I do have a question: When the Notary identifies the Signer, what Notarial Certificate is best to use, and is the Notarial Certificate the same always for identifying the Signer..no matter the document that goes to the SOS?
Thank you!!!!!
Of course. Thanks for watching!
I am still a bit lost as to what the Notary's function is for an Apostille 😐. To my understanding, it sounds like the Notary authenticates the signature, and then offers to send it to the SOS for the client, and that's it? I understand that the Notary also needs some knowledge of different forms, but basically you, the Notary, are sending on the documents, to the SOS. When approved they come back to the Notary. Then you, the Notary, give these forms back to the client, and the client then sends them to the country they need to go to. So the notary can charge for their notary work and the fee for shipping to the SOS. I am in Virginia, and there's no guidance on how to do this as a notary.
Hello. Your only responsibility is to notarize the document itself. Because the document is destined for another country, the notarization must be performed properly to ensure that there aren’t any problems on the receiving end. An apostille is issued by your Secretary of State's office or Notary commissioning agency. The single apostille is the only certification needed. Once prepared and verified, the apostille is attached to and sent along with the notarized documents. Notaries cannot issue apostilles themselves. This all happens after the notarization and requires no action on your part.

Hi I really enjoyed the infomation you shared. Thank you! I have a question. I'm a NY notary. Would I have to make a stop at my county clerk or can I just send docs to the SOS? When does the county clerk come into play? Please and thank you.

Great information

Hi,
Great presentation, question for you,
for the state of Texas to do an apostille for a birth certificate to be presented abroad in Mexico. This is what I understood, submit the application, submit a statement notarized,
obtain a certified copy of the birth certificate at the vital records office and submit the fee, is that it? Thank you,
Greetings, I'm going to get a notary license next week in Florida, does this apply to the State of Florida as well?
Yes it does. It actually applies to every state in the USA
On the exemplified copy , would I as an apostille agent do I follow the same steps to the S.O.S. to get it in the route it needs to go from there ?
Hello Ms. Judith! How are you ? I'm watching your great video for a 2nd time. I'm interested in becoming a Notary Public. What would you advice on how much bond or E&O insurance I should purchase? I want to jump in and be ready to do a vary of notary work. , General notary work, apostilles, loan signing agent, Heathcare etc,. Thank you!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!! Oh yes! I will be purchasing your book!☺
Hi Mark! What state will you be commissioned in? In most states, you'll need to purchase a bond. A typical amount ranges from $5,000 to $10,000, although it can be as low as $500 or as high as $25,000.
A liability insurance policy (E&O) is not required, because your state does not write Notary laws to protect Notaries - it writes them to protect the public. That’s why many states require bonds. You should consider buying a Notary errors and omissions insurance policy because it protects you against claims relating to any errors you make during a notarization.
@@NationalNotary Thank for the response ! I'm from Michigan .
@@markmcclendon7063 Michigan requires a Notary Public to hold a $10,000 surety bond, which must be filed at the office of the county clerk (filing fees apply). The surety company must be licensed to do business in the state. If the Notary acts improperly or is negligent, and there are financial damages, the bond will cover those damages. The company that issued the bond may require the Notary to pay back any damages covered. If you are a licensed attorney in the state of Michigan, you are not required to file a bond.
Insurance is not required for Michigan Notaries, although you have the option of purchasing a policy. Errors and omissions (E&O) insurance helps protect the Notary. If you make an unintentional mistake or a false claim is filed against you, an E&O policy will cover your legal fees and awarded damages up to the coverage you select.
I enjoyed this thoroughly! Question. When you gave the examples of California and Pennsylvania with the diploma, I was confused . I thought apostilles were for sending it to people to take out of the country?
Thank you ☺️
No problem! Thanks for watching.
Hi thanks a lot enjoyed this it was very informative, quick questions for the birth certificate as a notary we can't notarize it so we would just send it to the originating state and have it apostilled by SOS and they'd mail it back to us? Second question regarding the marriage license if it originated in California and we're in Arizona, I the notary would notarize the marriage license in Arizona and the SOS would put a seal on the document to confirm I am a legal notary, then I would send the document to California so the SOS can apostille the marriage license since it originated there?

Do you ever have the clients pay the fees up front to get the document to the SOS and for fees the state charge? Also, what is a approx. profit for a notary handling this process?
Hello. These are not considered "notarial" acts, so the Notary may establish any relevant service fees with the client.
Very interesting. Thank you...But I've seen some notaries that offer this service in ALL 50 states. How is this possible if the apostille have to be done in the state in which the documents originated? Wouldn't you have be get a notary in that particular state?
Good question! An apostille is issued by your Secretary of State's office or Notary commissioning agency. Some enterprising Notaries who live near their Secretary of State’s office offer "apostille services" as a way to generate additional income. They essentially provide a courier service to deliver and return the paperwork to customers. These are not considered "notarial" acts.
Hi I know this is 3 yrs old but informative...everything for notarizations and apostilles available online now!
I know this is old, but I have a question! Does this mean that they can only have the forms notarized in the state of origin as well? Ex: state of origination is Philadelphia, but client now lives in GA. Would he have to find a Philadelphia notary, or can he use a GA notary since since that's where he lives?
Hello. If you're notarizing an out of state document, you will need to attach your state's notarial certificate. More information can be found here: www.nationalnotary.org/notary-bulletin/blog/2015/04/how-handle-out-of-state-notary-certificates
Thanks for the incredible information. I wonder to know how much I can charge for an apostille of dead certificate in the State of Maryland. It is hard for me to price my cervices.
Thank you for the information. Where in Illinois do I get an Affidavit of Single Status? I have asked Clerk and they don't have one, I have check with the SOS and nothing. Also, in legalization of a document, you mentioned that "it then gets sent to the Dept of State for Legalization.." who sends it there? Us or the State? Thank you in advance!
What does Texas accept for online services if any? And what are the ones that you would use in Texas.
