You mentioned KoF:Wing at the end there, and I absolutely loved playing that. Started playing it around version 1.3, where it was just the 6 fighters: Kyo, K', Iori, Kula, Ryu, and Moriya. Went with Moriya due to him reminding me of Roy from Smash Melee. I just fumbled around until I somehow learned how to play it on normal control scheme, and it was amazing. So the flash game devs temporarily had it shut down to avoid a potential lawsuit then came back later with the "Street Fighter Online" moniker when the heat died down (and surprisingly were able to get through even with the Marvel characters still included). Interestingly enough, the voice clips and sound effects are all from Capcom fighting games, even the character portraits are traced-over Capcom art! To top it all off, Ryu and Saint Seiya are secret bosses you can face. That's all. Looking forward to the follow-up video!
I thought the Sprites from Smash Flash were MMX4, not MM8. But those styles are a bit similar I guess. I never noticed Link's being so similar to MMZ Zero, but that makes a lot of sense.
One game that absolutely needs to be featured if you ever do a follow up to this video is PPGD: Battle in Megaville. It's a pretty old fighting game similar to earlier Dragon Ball fighting games on the SNES based on a webcomic sequel to the Powerpuff Girls (that I didn't even know about when I played it, I just thought the designs were made for the game and that's it). It probably has aged very poorly and I remember the characters all played very similarly to each other, but it's the game that comes to mind when I think "Flash Fighting Games" alongside the Smash Flash duology and the Super Brawl games. Also the game featured the X vs Zero theme from Mega Man X5 and I remember being so hyped when it was added to Smash Ultimate because I got reminded of this game.
I thought PPGD was some official thing I never knew about until you mentioned the game having the X vs Zero theme (unless it is official and Capcom collabed with Cartoon Network)
@@lajenehuen260 It's 100% a fanmade thing. It's a fangame based on a fancomic. You may be thinking of Powerpuff Girls Z, which has a similar premise of turning the classic cartoon into an anime, but it has a completely different tone
You have no idea the flood of memories you opened with the Teen Titans flash fighter. All the random flash games from Cartoon Network’s website I used to play. Wow
There used to be a The King of Fighters 98 recreation on flash and playable on browser, which is insane for the time, specially because it didnt feel like a flash game but instead as a decent port of the original
i wonder if you covered "Capoeira Fighter 3" the game is browser based too and the dev is currently working on a updated version called "Capoeira Fighter 3 Legacy Edition"
I mention it in the pinned post! Long story short, this video was going to cover the trilogy, but I ran into issues with my editing program and it corrupted the video footage I recorded for those games. I do plan on doing a follow up to this video at some point with those games highlighting them. More people need to know about Capoeira Fighter 3, tbh
I remember clearly how Battle in Megaville was me and my younger brother’s choice of browser fighting game. It was based on a fan comic which is an anime themed cartoon characters like the Power Puff Girls, Rowdy Ruff boys, Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, and Zim from Invader Zim. I believe there’s also another character there that’s an original character, but I can’t remember her name exactly. Anyway’s. This game’s fun to play with friends. While combat isn’t fast and most attacks are broken and can be cheesed with enough use, it’s quite a great time to play around.
Damn man seeing that old Newrounds page takes me back. There were some flash games I'd play over my entire already massive console library back then, even now a lot of the smaller and indie stuff I play on PC feeks like it is in the spirit of these relatively simple flash games. Speaking of how Alien Hominid made the leap to commercial product, I was always hoping to see the person who made Sinjid and Sonny go that route. The second Sinjid was fantastic and the two Sonny games showed a massive improvement in their overall quality beyond the game design. There was some really impressive stuff on those sites, miss those days
Like many others I had a blast with Smash Flash, Super Brawl 1& 2 as well as the seasonal Brawls. Some other games I remember playing on computers at school or home were Chaos Faction, Cartoon Network TKO and Godzilla Daikaiju Battle Royale!
i misread this title while half asleep as "Bowser based fighting games" and was confused when i finished the video and there was not a single game that featured bowser
I am happy you made a video on this. My younger brother found the first super smash flash and i have been keeping up with super smash flash 2 ever since. I even prefer it over some of the main games. Man the memories. Im a smash player
You legit covered literally every browser fighting game I had childhood memories of. Seeing Bloody Rage again was especially wild, I remember sneakily playing that during library time, it was so sick. A fighting game where I could make my own character? I don't think I'd get that joy again till Soul Calibur IV (seriously how aren't there more games where I can do that). Great video!
I remember Adult Swim had a fighting game called Bible Fight, wherein you fight as iconic biblical characters. There wasn't a massive roster but they included Eve, Mary, Jesus, Moses and Satan. Satan was the final boss. Eve's moves were especially interesting. She could summon Adam to punch the foe from below, lob the Fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and swing the Serpent like a whip. Since the Serpent is actually Satan too, this enables you to whip the devil to death with himself.
The first thing that came to my mind when I read the title was that Teen Titians game.

But seriously, everyone needs to try Tough Love Arena. Rollback, an in-depth training mode, goofy characters, and the ability to roll a lemon. It's so good
Dang, I actually played like 4 of these I think, both of the Smash Flashes, that Street Fighter one, and the Teen Titans one. I also remember some Marvel vs Capcom Browser game that had new characters like Rhino and Sandman from Spider-Man. It was like a Mugen pack you didn't need to download. There was also this one DBZ Shockwave game that was sorta a fighting game. It was based on the Namek saga, but I can't remember it's name. I hope you do go back to this because it's a real fun topic!
I've just been pushed back into my childhood, i loved typing in "fighting games online" and just trying out the different ones especially with friends. Thank yu for this. ❤
One game I haven't seen anyone mention that I loved playing is Marvel Tribute. It was basically a Marvel vs Capcom clone, but it didn't have the Capcom characters, nor did it have the assist mechanic, so it was more like a continuation of Marvel Super Heroes. It had every Marvel character from MvC2 besides maybe Marrow, but it ported over two characters from MUGEN, those being Sandman and Rhino. I remember me and my brother would sometimes play and we would always pick Venom and Spider-Man.
Man… I remember the times Cartoon Network had flash (RIP to that 😭) games and I’d play their games, including Teen Titans Battle Blitz and just mash buttons. Good times! I’m surprised this hasn’t been covered-great video!! 🙂
I remember playing this one official American Dad vs Family Guy game back in the day, where Ryu was the final boss. Years later I found out they made a new version of that game with any family members missing before added to the roster.
You might not know this but Smash Flash 2 has a deep and historic online competitive scene as well that (citation needed) rivals that of actual Smash games not named Melee or Ultimate, and has been going strong ever since the game got online play ten years ago.
I remember playing Bloody Rage and Super Smash Flash back in the day. Didn't know that Kira was the announcer for Smash Flash. Now how funny would it be if 2B showed up in a future Smash Bros. game?
My go-to childhood "flash fighters" that I never left to this day: Capoeira Fighter 3, Chaos Faction 2, Dragon Fist 3, Gun Mayhem 2, Newgrounds Rumble, SFO - Street Fighter Online, Super Smash Flash 2 and The King of Fighters: Flashwing.
14:14 That assessment tracks, as in my fuzzy memories of this game, while Cinderblock and Plasmus were both walls for me, I could chip at Cinderblock until I brute-forced a win. Plasmus, however, clearly had no patience for button-mashing chumps like me, because could never beat him.
good vid man, tho i gotta say one fighting game im sad to see wasn’t mentioned was cartoon networks crossover fighter, tko. i remember playing that game a whole lot as a kid. every character was a robot but they all had their own specials. it was pretty wide reaching, iirc it had ben 10, adventure time, flapjack, generator rex and a ton more
I had so many good memories loading up Super Smash Flash 2 after finishing my work earlier than the entire class during the 2010s, I'm pretty sure it's the big reason why I love things such as Mega Man so much nowadays.
Oh my gosh, I remember so much of these! I remember being so blown away by the roster for bloody rage back when I came across it when I was 10 years old. My mom of course wasn’t OK with me playing it, mainly because of the name of it LOL. And how could I forget teen titans battle blitz? That was literally my introduction to the teen titans IP, as well, as one of my first introduction of DC comics in general back when I was 6. And don’t even get me started about super smash flash, that was literally what made me fall in love with the entire smash brothers concept. Are used to play both the first and second games so often on my mom’s computer. back then I wasn’t really too familiar with most of the characters appearing in those games aside from the Mario characters, the Sonic characters, Pikachu and MegaMan, so that was pretty much my introduction to other franchises, primarily Dragon Ball. To tell you the truth, I actually thought the anime characters were actually from other games, and their shows were just simply based off of them! LOL. And I very much enjoyed all three Nickelodeon Brawl games, even though I was more of a Cartoon Network kid back then, but even as I was a fighting game fan all the way back then, I still appreciated it. I can’t say I really remember the street fire one though, had I known they were marvel characters in it I definitely would’ve enjoyed it. On a similar no to that I’m actually surprised you didn’t cover Marvel tribute, because I thought that was pretty good back in the day
God this video was a real good trip down memory lane. I spent so many hours on bloody rage and that teen titans game back in the day, it was almost surreal seeing it again in a video. If you ever do a video like this again, check out Fighter’s Rampage, its sequel, and combat tournament legends. They’re all stick figure fighting games
I'll never forget being in 6th grade in the computer lab thinking I was cool playing that one anime based browser fighting game with the chibi artstyle. My crush at the time was sitting next to me, and while poking fun at it she seemed pretty engaged from what I remember lol. Wonder if I talked to her about it more (of course I was nervous as hell) i'd have steered her towards being both a fighting game and anime fan lol. Wish I remember what the game was called too, it was actually pretty damn good for what it was. I also do remember the Teen Titans one, that was a well spent summer afternoon. Man good times.
@@Aardavianboy I managed to look it up again, it's called Anime Fighting Jam. Apparently there have been updates since I was a kid like actual official fgs lol
@@Aardavianboy oh yeah i managed to find the title, it was called Anime Fighting Jam. Though it's apparently gotten a couple updated editions since i last played as a kid lol
Bloody rage was my dream game 18 or so years ago. Pleasantly surprised to see it first on the list. Pencak Silat 2, Final Slam 2, Dragon Fist 3 were all amazing fighting games for their time by the standards of the era. Still hold up a bit too
One flash fighting game I remember playing back in the day was this Avatar fighting game where you made your own bender OC and dukes it out in a tournament, I know it eventually means that there was only 4 fighters but it was still fun
Back in 2008-2010 days I use to just go nuts with Flash Games and Grand Chase. Ultimate Flash Sonic, Smash Flash, Newgrounds Rumble, Catscratch and Territory Wars are the first few Flash games I'd play everyday until I found out about Flash 2, SonicVSLF2 (which became the real creepypasta) and OpenBOR games. Smash Flash is also actually my introduction to Smash Series. It all started with just me searching up Sonic Games. Unfortunate that I actually only able to learn about Teen Titans Battle Blitz and KoF Wing after the downfall of Flash. (But one of the first nightmares I got are definitely from Happy Three Friends Valentines and that Mario VS Sonic War. I'm not as scared as I used to but dang seeing Happy Three Friends art will always bring back true horror for me)
Bloody Rage sure brings back the memories but there was another game that me and many of my friends jammed out...can't remember the name. You played as circles with hands and feet and could customize pretty well. Game had a map maker too and ton of fun modes (I remember there being a fun plunger match). I think the reason it was so popular at my school was that there was six player multiplayer I think. Anyone remember it? It was a smash-like fighter instead of a proper fighting game.
I remember back in 8th grade where i would download games to my hardrive at home and play them on the school computer, one of them was a marvel vs capcom mugen game, some of my classmates would actually play the game with me and other people, i still have my hardrive to this day!
Really hyped for an eventual follow-up mentioning Capoeira Fighter! Another great browser fighting game that had a super interesting system was adult swim's Death Vegas, it was rad
Man, I miss Teen Titans: Battle Blitz. I remember when that game was releasing new characters weekly before the show came out. And I lost my mind when I learned that you could summon all four of the other Titans with everyone, not just one character per person.
30:49 Fun fact about Super Brawl 3, there was previous version that had the Gold Ranger and Xandred from Power Rangers Samurai but it was removed from nick very shortly after release
Teen Titans Battle Blitz and the two Super Smash Flash 2 were always enjoyable in my end. Selecting either the Titans or the H.I.V.E. was pretty fun in the former. It still feels unreal that with the Smash Flash games, some of the characters chosen for fun had eventually transformed into legit Smash Bros. fighters like Meta Knight, Sonic, Mega Man, and Sora.
No lie, you brought back memories with street fighter online, there was another version of it too i believe. Also there was a cartoon network fighting game was well that was actually fun
One flash fighting game I distinctly remember playing it was Battle in Megaville, based on the still-currently ongoing PowerPuff Girls Doujinshi, which was basically my introduction to that webcomic. As a fan of PowerPuff Girls at the time, my mind was blowned. Not only it has the main three and Rowdyruff, but also Dexter from Dexter's Lab and a character that i have never seen in other media before, Bell. And when i get to the final boss using Dexter (arguably the best fighter in my opinion), i'm fighting Zim from Invader Zim, but because i never heard of that show at the time, i was like "who is that guy, and why he is walking on spider-legs? I don't remember him from PowerPuff Girls, but he looks cool as hell!". The gameplay itself is actually solid. Hope you can cover the game in part 2 someday.
My definitive favorite fighting game that was browser based is Capoeira Fighter 3. Literally my childhood and any time i get the chance to on a computer, ill play it to this day
The teen titans one was one of my favorites. I remeber those years when I hit that Cartoon Network site to see if they had new games Edit: super smash flash is goated
I BEEN LOOKING FOR BLOODY RAGE BRO this video was made for mfs like me this shit brought back so many memories nostalgia aside great video man keep up the great work!
8:27 Teen Titans battle blitz I absolutely loved playing that game on conputers in libraries and so did many other kids. That game was like Street Fighter for kids. I remember hearing rumors about a secret level were you could fight Slade or something. This game introduced me to the Teen Titans animated series. Im sure it was many other kids introduction to the Teen Titans show as well😀
There's also a Street Fighter flash game that used the SVC Chaos sprites. I played that one a lot back in the mid 2000s. I believe it was also my first proper intrroduction Street Fighter.

I thought the Sprites from Smash Flash were MMX4, not MM8. But those styles are a bit similar I guess. I never noticed Link's being so similar to MMZ Zero, but that makes a lot of sense.
Seeing bloody rage again is insane I completely forgot about it
One game that absolutely needs to be featured if you ever do a follow up to this video is PPGD: Battle in Megaville.
@@skapokonroll Yeah, I knew PPGZ and PPGD were two different things. I just never heard of the latter and was kinda confused lmao
Ah browser based games.
They were great time killers.
I miss miniclip etc😢
Oh the fighting games they
Were fun as heck.
I haven’t even watched this video yet, but seeing the Teen Titans fighting game in the thumbnail was a HUGE throwback 😭😭 Jinx mains rise up
I remember clearly how Battle in Megaville was me and my younger brother’s choice of browser fighting game.
God i miss browser based gaming, I miss the whole entire old internet tbh. You was never bored man
You legit covered literally every browser fighting game I had childhood memories of. Seeing Bloody Rage again was especially wild, I remember sneakily playing that during library time, it was so sick. A fighting game where I could make my own character? I don't think I'd get that joy again till Soul Calibur IV (seriously how aren't there more games where I can do that). Great video!
Forgetting a website back then and never finding it again was devastating back then
Danny Phantom Urban Jungle Rumble was peak btw.
It's so good
My favorite browser fighting game that was the official family guy fighting game that had ryu in it. Family guy x Capcom needs to become a thing
I mean, Fortnite technically made it happen by having skins of SF characters and (Buff) Peter
It's uncanny that I'm working on something very similar but taking my time with it. Specifically with one game you talked about here. Great stuff!
Ill defo watch
Great minds and all that! Looking forward to the video!
4:30 i think that "blanka ball" is there because of wolverine who has used it in some marvel fighting games
PPGD: Battle in Megaville was one of the browser-based fighting games I played back in the day, based on the Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi webcomic.
I am literally making an original browser based fighting game and watched this video for inspiration. Hopefully my game is good enough.
Good luck, I'm rooting for you!
Watching this unlocked a core memory of these games I would play either at school or at home after school.
This video encapsulated my entire childhood in 30 minutes 🤣 great video man
Man… I remember the times Cartoon Network had flash (RIP to that 😭) games and I’d play their games, including Teen Titans Battle Blitz and just mash buttons. Good times!
I’m surprised this hasn’t been covered-great video!! 🙂
I've played so many of these fighting games on the computer when I was a kid. Thank you for this nostalgic trip down memory lane!
I remember playing this one official American Dad vs Family Guy game back in the day, where Ryu was the final boss. Years later I found out they made a new version of that game with any family members missing before added to the roster.
Definitely the best Era of the Internet
You might not know this but Smash Flash 2 has a deep and historic online competitive scene as well that (citation needed) rivals that of actual Smash games not named Melee or Ultimate, and has been going strong ever since the game got online play ten years ago.
I remember playing Bloody Rage and Super Smash Flash back in the day. Didn't know that Kira was the announcer for Smash Flash. Now how funny would it be if 2B showed up in a future Smash Bros. game?
Teen Titans Battle Ready thumbnail, Neku pfp, AND Sonic Heroes ost. This might be record breaking levels of subscribing
The Super Smash Flash section hit me with some extreme nostalgia, haven't thought of that game in a long time
My go-to childhood "flash fighters" that I never left to this day:
Capoeira Fighter 3, Chaos Faction 2, Dragon Fist 3, Gun Mayhem 2, Newgrounds Rumble, SFO - Street Fighter Online, Super Smash Flash 2 and The King of Fighters: Flashwing.
If you ever do a part 2, please cover TKO and Combat Tournament Legends! They were amazing flash fighting games for the time.
Was it etherena beta?
@@Aardavianboy I managed to look it up again, it's called Anime Fighting Jam. Apparently there have been updates since I was a kid like actual official fgs lol
@@Aardavianboy oh yeah i managed to find the title, it was called Anime Fighting Jam. Though it's apparently gotten a couple updated editions since i last played as a kid lol
Death Ruins as the backing track of the Teen Titans section is peak.
Bloody rage was my dream game 18 or so years ago. Pleasantly surprised to see it first on the list. Pencak Silat 2, Final Slam 2, Dragon Fist 3 were all amazing fighting games for their time by the standards of the era. Still hold up a bit too
I spent a LOT of time on the Teen Titans game growing up.
I remember playing Teen Titans Battle Blitz back in the Summer of '03 and being hyped for the OG Titans show's premiere at the same time.
Crying in nostalgia, man this brings back so many memories of playing these games on a Saturday as kid back in the day. 😔😓😣🙂
You woke up a completely forgotten memory of me playing Bloody Rage on one of my elementary school's big ass Mac desktop computers
God I remember having so much with Battle Blitz growing up & would play during computer lab so many memories back in 2003.
Loved taking a trip down memory lane. Thanks for the video. 🎉
One flash fighting game I remember playing back in the day was this Avatar fighting game where you made your own bender OC and dukes it out in a tournament, I know it eventually means that there was only 4 fighters but it was still fun
Dude when I was kid, we used to run little tournaments for Teen Titans Battle Blitz in our local library. Shit was amazing.
Oh man I remember the Teen Titans one. Good times.
oh man, i used to go to town on that Teen Titans game
I'm not as scared as I used to but dang seeing Happy Three Friends art will always bring back true horror for me)
Fun video. Was born in '97 and I remember a lot of these. You seemed a little rushed in the outro but I relate to the feeling of project bloat lol
I remember back in 8th grade where i would download games to my hardrive at home and play them on the school computer, one of them was a marvel vs capcom mugen game, some of my classmates would actually play the game with me and other people, i still have my hardrive to this day!
i was around in the early 2000s, and MAN i remember this stuff so much!
Really hyped for an eventual follow-up mentioning Capoeira Fighter! Another great browser fighting game that had a super interesting system was adult swim's Death Vegas, it was rad
You hit on every game I loved back in the day man great video!!!
i remember spending years of my life playing kof wing. my main introduction to fighting games
Man you really brough some memories back with teen titans blitz
I started spit-taking and crying when I saw Sheen's block-stun combo. That is the face of a true S-tier character.
Oh and cover American Dad VS Family Guy Kung Fu II Turbo too.
My definitive favorite fighting game that was browser based is Capoeira Fighter 3. Literally my childhood and any time i get the chance to on a computer, ill play it to this day
Had to show up for the teen titans fighter in the thumbnail, so many great summer days on that
Man takes me back to when life was good unfortunately I don’t have a computer
I remember a lotta of those browser fighting games they were hella fun and rad.
The teen titans one was one of my favorites. I remeber those years when I hit that Cartoon Network site to see if they had new games
Edit: super smash flash is goated
I BEEN LOOKING FOR BLOODY RAGE BRO this video was made for mfs like me this shit brought back so many memories nostalgia aside great video man keep up the great work!
8:27 Teen Titans battle blitz
I absolutely loved playing that game on conputers in libraries and so did many other kids. That game was like Street Fighter for kids. I remember hearing rumors about a secret level were you could fight Slade or something.
This game introduced me to the Teen Titans animated series. Im sure it was many other kids introduction to the Teen Titans show as well😀
I remember almost all the games when i was a kid to this day. it was awesome memories tbh.
There's also a Street Fighter flash game that used the SVC Chaos sprites. I played that one a lot back in the mid 2000s. I believe it was also my first proper intrroduction Street Fighter.
Bloody rage, teen titans & newgrounds fighting game was all my childhood games
