I'm rooting so hard for AMD. Those Nvidia prices are out of control and someone needs to put them in check.
Put them in check lol...people are going to buy regardless...just buy what you want
@@bigbay1159 they're ridiculously overpriced. The 4080 is selling extremely poorly. Nvidia needs competition to bring things back in line.
@Business Man that's basically why they priced them so high.. get rid of 3000 series. And that IS working.
amd will do the same once it catches up lol just see CPU prices
Isn’t it known that the amd aib cards will be as much as 1600? I thought I saw that in a price leak earlier this week. Amd is just as greedy when they can be but I agree 4080 too expensive and I have one lol
Calling out the 2.X size of the slot size is actually important for SFF cases, the case I have supports a 2.9 slot card max, so if they called these out as 3 slot cards it would make anyone with that case think it won't fit, but it will actually fit totally fine.
If i plug muh Soundcard in Slot 4 and its a 2.99 slot GPU, it would suffocate the fans of the GPU that are pressed against it.
Yeah... some weirdoes like me still use stuff in their PCIe slots other than just the GPU...
Totally agree. I also use itx cases and gear. Even though we can fit the larger card in. Thermals and power consumption are huge factors in a build
I thought the same thing. Plus it can tell you that there's that little bit more room for air to flow into your card and let the fans breathe with something that's say 2.2 compared to a full 3.
I agree with you on that. I finished my ITX build over the summer and the 2.X really helped when choosing my GPU. I did buy the Hyte Revolt 3. Even though it’s technically a three slot card compatible case; I went with the Red Dragon RX 6800 (2.5 slot) for maximum airflow.
@@ZeroB4NG yeah I use a network card for 10gbe and it’s good to know that I can fit it in there. I’m not small form factor but my motherboard was designed before 3+ slot cards were normal
We love Phil as much as Nick as much as Jay. The whole team is great. I will say I miss the crazy experiments from when I first found the channel. Then: crazy experiments like toothpaste for thermal paste. Now: review and vlogs. Love both forms just miss some of the old quirky experiments.
Like blowing up a watercooling setup with a compressor 😂
@@Kknewkles legit yes. Those were some of the funniest moments. Did I need that info ... no but I may have watched jay cower under the desk multiple times
That's right. We've not had a "Two Idiots" video in forever. I bet that Phil is going to do a kick ass review though.
Why can't he power them up? AMD won't let him yet?
@Chris yet Paul did in his unboxing...
10:51 The distinction is that if you occupy the slot three slots over, the 2.15-slot card will have breathing room. I think that's information that can be valuable when you're considering different thickness graphics cards, even if the number of slots blocked will be the same.
At 2.15, it sounds like an nvme to pcie converter might slip in the next slot. Those are pretty short & wouldn't block much air.
2.75 though, what a joke. Just make it 3 with a triple wide bracket for zero sag.
@@goldenheartOh Except the PCB of *any* card is exactly 2 slots away from the PCB of the GPU; it's the back of the card that blocks.
Fitting even an adapter would require it to be super low profile to fit between the slot and the overhanging GPU cooler. Maybe a U.2 adapter - that would be close to just a cable coming out of the slot.
@@goldenheartOh are you really complaining that the card isn't thick enough? lmao
AMD: the embargo lifts at 9am EST.
Jay at 8:57am EST: I’m releasing my *Schtuff*
13th or 12th?
the vid came out at 9:03 EST. 3 minutes late not early lol
Jayz isn't the first one on my list so yeah
Who can make the pointless video first!
@@eillswim it's not pointless for many of us, it's a first look for those of us who haven't seen it or heard much about it yet
It suddenly hit me that thin red stripe on the cards' heatsinks really reminds me of some of the artwork from the Battlestar Galactica reboot which gives me an idea for a new build.
oooh white or metallic grey with dark red strips, that'll be cool
Pairing the 7900 XTX with a 980 pro heatsink version 😉.
you know what, I just bought a 6900XT, but I'm still extremely excited for these cards! This could be a step towards more sane price/performance ratios.
I bought a 6900xt 2 months ago, only $700 and I'm loving it. Still excited for AMD to put nvidia's feet to the fire. I won't get a 7000 series card, but I'll probably be looking at the 8000 or 9000 series when this 6900xt isn't cutting it anymore (or when my kids are old enough for a monster system and daddy gets to build a new machine for them.)
Same... kind of sad now.😀
I got a 6800 for $530, and I'm super happy with it. It's my 3rd amd card, and I got nothing but good things to say about them. I've been running all red systems since 2019 with the 5700xt.
Super excited about these cards because of the generational tech improvement. I didn't like the Nvidia approach of just upping the size and power consumption. If you make a gpu the size of a microwave, of course it's going to be faster.
I'm probably sitting out most of this generation as well, but I'm very interested how AMD stacks up this cycle. Saw the preview for the Varja Aero 2, and I both want one, and am pretty sure even a 4090 can't drive it fully yet.
I got a 6900 xt for $700 just last week, and I'm loving it. Excited to see what AMD 7000 brings to the table.
Really looking forward to the new AMD cards, standard power connections and normal sized video cards. It’s a no brainer for me!👍👍👍
And the shit is even cheaper!
Looking forward to PhilsTwoCents on the new 7000 series cards while Jay is on vacation. I'm interested in the benchmarks for the card, needs to be some competition in the market. AMD needs to bring the same A game to the GPU market like they have been doing with the Ryzen vs Intel battle.
I’ve been eyeing the < $600 6800xt but if the 7900xt can come close to a 4080 for $900 then i ‘ll seriously consider these reference cards they are gorgeous!
I absolutely LOVE the design of these cards. This is my favorite reference/founders card I've ever seen from either AMD or Nvidia
After seeing Gamers Nexus reviewing the range of boards for Nvidia's 40 series, it's nice to see something that you could fit in a mid-sized tower with some care. I've got a full-sized case because I thought I was going to be upgrading my PC a chunk, and I wish I'd gone for a mid. The built in desk in my new house just doesn't have a lot of foot space with the full sized case there. And the aesthetics on that new card just look really clean to me. Here's hoping AMD can get this size war back down to earth.
@Druss The Legend nvidia fanboy 😂
@Druss The Legend nobody did
Yeah, I'd agree with that statement. It looks "clean", no over the top graphics and lights everywhere... sometimes less is more, that being said... it'll be interesting to see what the partner cards look like, kinda hoping for at least one to be available in white or silver to match some of the motherboards that are out there.
@drussthelegend2217good thing there’s a wide variety of AIB cards as well
Can’t wait to see benchmarks. These cards look amazing
If they come anywhere close to the performance of the 4080/90 i'll be up for one of these. They don't have to beat nvdia just be competative and they'll get my cash for sure.
Leaked benchmarks show it beating the 4080 by like 10-15% the xtx version and xt version beats 4080 by 5%.They don't touch the 4090 tho
@@johnnyboogalo4897 It's kinda hard to beat the 4090 when the design was for performance at all costs. So as long as it comes close it should be a win in my book.
They r not competing 4090 @ $1000. Both of them obviously gonna beat 4080 though
It ain't beating the 4090 I promise you that. This is a 4080 card!!! 4090 IS A BEAST!!!
@@abeidsalim8008 Doesn't have to, 4090 is irrelevant
These cards are absolutely gorgeous.
They look fantastic. Let’s hope the numbers put nvidia to shame.
They wont
Say what you want about the prices but Nvidia brougt huge upgrade in performence wise. They won't put anyone to shame.
At least put the 4080 to shame. I doubt that the 4090 will be put to shame tho.
To you zero design and plain black is fantastic?
I doubt they would be better than the 4090 in performance... But if this kicks the 4080s ass.. then its a total win for consumers
I hope that the XTX is a good alternative to the 4080... I really don't want to be forced to get a new case for my PC... finding one is hard enough (I really need a lot of harddrive-bays) and I really don't feel like going through the process of swapping everything over to that new case + cable management... I know, lots of people like doing new fancy builds, I just want it to work and be decent xD
Can't wait for Phil's video about the benchmarks and comparison
I don't see these card as the 40-series killers _at all;_ not at this steep price point. I'm rooting for AMD because Nvidia is Nvidia, but come on guys... If you're already dropping $800-$1000 for a super high end GPU, you probably want _the best_ and you'll probably spend the extra couple hundred bucks in the Halo tier Nvidia card.
Mainstream consumers still don't need cards like this. Most mainstream gamers aren't gaming at 4K yet. The enthusiasts who buy this tier of card want the _best card_ and are willing to pay the Nvidia premium.
The only way AMD is actually gonna _attack_ Nvidia's pricing is by dropping a card like this for way way less money. These models aren't actually going to hurt Nvidia's sales whatsoever.
Yay! A Phil episode is coming. The hero we need but don't deserve.
I really like the aesthetics of these new AMD cards. Can't wait to see the performance and comparisons to Nvidia.
These cards look really good! I'm so hyped for the performance review on the 13th of December. Finally, my first gaming rig will be all AMD. The only thing I will have to wait for is 7000 series X3D processors.
THAT is what will be the SHNITZ !! It will cost more, but it will be well worth it for the performance. How they divvy that X3D around is gonna the question, and how much memory? I just wish that they would quit holding back and put out a BALLS-OUT card now !! They're in position now to do it,do it DAM IT!!😎
I wonder if AMD is going to release the ryzen 7800 as X3D only. there were so many models of cpu released last time around maybe they'll be more focused now.
@@henrym5908 As per the rumours, they might be releasing 3 SKUs 7700X3D, 7800X3D and 7900X3D.
Amd reference cards are really starting to look great. They used to look too much like a toy to me. This one I would rock no problem.
Yes, because you display your case to everyone that visits you?
RGB Queen
@@nowaay692 Bro has beef with a person that has taste
I've always thought the reference cards looked great, the LE Vegas for example.
6000 series also look great
Cant wait for the benchmarks!
I love that the ARC sign is constantly looming in the background
I personally find those cards gorgeous. Simple, elegant yet "techy" at the same time. Super nice mat black. I also like the red accent because they kept it very limited (not like the horrible red lip of the evga rtx 3000 series). Good job AMD, let's hope performances are on par.
These cards genuinely look like the way to go this time around.
I REALLY hope its near 4080 in terms of performance, that will surely pressure Greedvidia to lower the prices.
I think RX 7900 XTX will be ahead by far than 4080 but I'm not sure about RX 7900 XT. If this card gives the same performance as the 4080, it becomes no-brainer choice.
@@berkayjan11 Because of the size and cost difference if it's even close to a 4080 it'll be a win for consumers.
I'm hyped about the USB-C port, I already use 3 docking stations on various locations where I plug my Notebooks in. Might build a SFF PC next year and this would make unplugging it very convenient.
Maybe you could also do a USB read/write speed test through the card (at least I heard that it also carries a standard USB signal)?
The 6000 series have a USB-C port.
Lots of the 20 series cards from Nvidia have a usb c output as well. Sad they dropped that feature for the newer cards, but hopefully AMD will stick with it.
Yeah I’m excited for Phil to do the full review he deserves a lot more credit than we give him
I smiled when he said that... looking forward to Phil's run down
Wait a minute. Just last week, I gave poor Phil over 13 credits
what credit dont you give him?
@@foggy90 Shoot! 13 was all the credits I had. I gave poor Phil all my credits. Since then, I got 6 more, and I’m considering sending 3 to poor Phil. He deserves more credits than we usually give him.
well they are not here yet , otherwise we would have seen gaming benchmarks already.
Jay, would you mind adding in a segment for the post-embargo review of how they've updated the encoder on the 7900XTX/XT? I'm curious if AMD increased the bandwidth capabilities of it versus their previous generation cards as it's pretty important when it comes to PCVR through something like Oculus Link. It's the one factor that is holding me back from grabbing one on launch day. It would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in the same boat. It's between this and the 4080 (once they drop the price) and I would like the xtx if it can perform just as well as nvidia finally using Oculus link for quest 2
@@jason6213 Agreed. I've had the opportunity to use a RTX 4080 over the last few weeks that a buddy of mine let me unbox and test drive to see if I want to buy it, and I honestly love the card but the price is just all wrong. I could see myself spending $1000 on it at most since it's double the performance of my 3070 Ti and nothing I've played at 4K has made it sweat, but $1200 is just too much of an ask when you can get the 30% - 40% faster 4090 with the extra VRAM for only $400 more. As far as the 7900XTX goes, at this point I'm more concerned with the lackluster 3DMark scores that were leaked as there are now rumors that have allegedly been confirmed by reviewers with the card off the record that the card cripples itself when it gets close to full utilization causing the performance to tank, thus heavily handicapping its 4K performance. If this is actually true, they suspect it has to do with a hardware bottleneck within the card itself whether that be power limit, chiplet architecture, latency, or the GCD silicon itself is yet to be determined though. I really hope they're wrong and it's an issue with 3DMark itself not being updated to work with the new architecture yet though, as no amount of driver optimizations can fix a hardware level defect.
11:00 The good thing about cards being referenced as there fractional slot thickness, I.e. 2.5, 2.25 slot ect.
Is that it allows you to know how much clearance you'll have within the third slot. If for some reason you need to put something in slot 4, and the card is a true three slot, you'll have no clearance for the fans. However if you know it's a 2.25 slot, you can assume you'll have at least 0.75 slot clearance for the cooling fans.
Obviously a very niche use case, but it does help you to know about clearance. This can also help with vertical mounting if you're trying to figure out how much space you'll have between the card and the front glass panel.
Can't wait for the reviews! This will be my first build. I have all my parts, but the GPU. I really am hoping the 7900xtx performs well for the price and the MCM architecture stands up well.
First build is so fun!
Just remember to take your time building the rig and enjoy the process. 😜 Out of interest what did you go with? I'm planning a full AMD build myself with an XTX if I can save enough cash for it.
@RogueWraith909 i went with the 7700x, when it was on sale, and the Steel Legend X670E Mobo. Found some great deals on case and RAM etc.
Thanks, I will definitely take it slow.
I am tempted to see the X3D CPUs, but there is always something better. And the price on the 7700x was a good value.
@@chrispreczewski Yeah absolutely, looks like solid choices. I'm thinking about the same processor but with an Asus X670E-A motherboard. Fun fun fun!
Good luck Chris! It's a great time to be in the market for a build. 👍
For reference cards these look better than any aftermarket card I've seen, personally. Love the design, excited for the performance changes. The price point on these, while steep, still seems pretty affordable for performance per dollar. Really really looking forward to the mid-range offerings from this next gen.
This produces me way more hype than Nvidia, mostly because I know that I can afford them haha
Hopefully can scoop up one at launch... afraid if not they gonna be scalped like a mofo
PHIL! WE LOVE YOU! WE ARE WAITING FOR THOSE TESTING VIDEOS!
If the XTX really is close to 4090 in Rasterization and about a 4080 in RT all for just $1000 AMD just wins.
And AMD is letting the AIBs push the cards harder if they want. So we could maybe get an AIB card that matches 4090 Raster & beats 4080 RT for about the cost if a 4080
These look great! I have been using NVIDIA cards for as long as I can remember, but now with these silly prices and the problems with 4090 bursting into flames... I might just go to team RED.
After seeing that the new 4070 TI 12gb (was the 4080 12gb) is being released Jan 3rd at a 899 msrp, AMD is looking like they can grab some serious market share with this series if they can keep enough of these 7900 xtx and xt's in stock if they perform well.
I'm astonished by the size of the 7900 XT, its pretty much the same size of my 6650 xt, small triple fan design. It looks great and fits everywhere.
loving how they look, cant wait to see the performance they bring to the table
Oh yay, cant wait to see some full videos with Phil in front of the cam. You got this homie.
Rooting for Team Red as want my next build to be fully AMD. Exciting to see Phil's reviews! Happy Holiday Jay.
I made switch to AMD CPU build.. then I got a 6700xt for under 300 bucks 4months ago.. I wanted a 6800xt or 6900xt but I knew 7000 series was coming so I didn't want to pay too much. I came from 1070 from it's launch
Include raytracing performance too , if it's decent then I only expect a way around to CUDA from AMD side .
Great video really looking forward to seeing the bench scores. Also just wanted to say there is a good reason for calling the cards 2.25(example) slot cards, for example I have a case/MOBO combo where my top pci-e slot has 3 slots of space between it and my PSU shroud so realistically I can't fit a 3 slot card in my case without choking the fans but, i could fit a 2.25 slot card. Just wanted to throw that one out there.
My wife painted the red stripe on the 6900xt white to match her case. Came out awesome.
Excited to see Phil's content. Also, these cards look premium! I get the red, but I applaud them for adding just a very minor amount.
"What's in this box? I have literally no idea." *Slams it down*🤣
Classy looking cards, i hope AMD is packing a big surprise with the numbers.
great now Im colouring my GPU in with marker pen! Thanks Jay
I can already tell that those cards will be as costly as the 4080 here in Europe. Those prices are just absolutely insane... I think it will be around 1200-1300€ for the XTX if not 1500€.
Yes I think so too. The reference cards will be scalped out of the hell. The aib cards gonna cost like 1300-1700 Euro.
4:59 Finally someone mentioned it looks like the BMW M stripes.
First thought: compare Ryzen 5xxx series with Ryzen 7xxx series together with those cards.
This. They seem to be hinting at some advantages when pairing the new gpus with ryzen 7xxx. I don't want to change my cpu for a while still :)
@@dodruku I guess we should be good for a year or so. : ) Ryzen 5xxx RULZ : )
Jay, HDMI 2.1a is limitrd to 48gbps which is 8k60hz, the 8k 144hz that you talked about is applicable only for the new displayport
Beautiful compact cards with normal power connectors. Definitely looking forward to the release!
Perfect for people like you who can’t plug in a power cable all the way!
Are we still pretending that's an issue?
Nice video. I'm ready for the performance results of these cards. Can't wait until the 13th.
Those cards looks really sleek. I love the design.
Red bad. (Color, not the company)
@@sirius4k yeah that's a bit annoying, but it's not overbearing.
Haha, when Jay tries to fix these cards to the case, that scene always looks amusing to me :)
I'm really looking forward to the performance review on this and looking forward to Phil doing it as well. If it even comes near the 4090 it will be a gamechanger.
According to some leaked benchmarks, it’s equal if not a bit worse then the 4080
Define near the 4090? Based on leaked benchmarks, even the 4080 beats the XTX in some areas.
@@FactsDataTruth sorry but i don't take what internet randos say seriously. There is an embargo on reviews so anybody who leaks has no credibility. I'll wait for real reviews before judging.
@@reptileescape3619 it's a little better than the 4080 you mean

The aesthetic for these cards is so clean, absolutely love them, some of the nicest founders edition cards from team Green or Red.
phil hasnt even done the review yet, but we need more of him in your videos!!!
i love the look of these cards so much, they're gorgeous
Really excited to see Phil host a video. He's hilarious.
One request though. We need stable diffusion benchmarks.
I'm as excited about watching Phil do the review as I am about the new cards.
I believe Chemical Guys makes a cleaner for the inside of your car called New Car Smell or something.
It’s going to be cool to see how these cards will perform under normal gaming circumstances , AMD has always done me right ( went from a rx 580 to a rx 6750 xt) and has always stuck with ryzen due to them staying with the am4 platform , so needless to say it seems like I’ll be staying team red for a while
I have opposite experience, AMD GPU failed in gaming all the time for me, terrible drivers causing instability, terrible compatibility with emulators, a lot AMD only fixes needed to get full performance or any performance in some cases, zero support for NV tech(tho that's on NV). Since i changed to green team i never had any of such problems, you get support for all AMD tech and NV tech so you can choose what gives better effects etc. Not to mention NV just does so much better job with video editing or rendering it's no brainer if it's meant to be used outside of gaming. You of course buy what you want NV pricing is on silly side no denying that so I hope AMD will be successful enough for NV to notice.
I've always had gaming issues with my RX 580 590 and sometimes with the RX 5700. I went to the RTX 3060 3060 Ti 3070 and the 3080 Ti with zero issues in gaming.
Amazing video and thank you for breaking it down!!
Despite the economic downturn, I'm so happy😊I have been earning $ 60,000 returns from my $7,000 investment every 12days
Sounds good😊How do you do that? I'm interested, how do I go about getting started?
I really hope these cards launch smoothly and dont have any crazy issues like Nvidia's burning cables.
The Cards look great. I am going to buy one as soon as i can. Cheers Jay and have a great Holiday Mate. Phil I;m Looking forward to the the testing. Cool
Absolutely stunning design on both cards. Small subtle (but noticable) differences between the two. Looking forward to the testing, and to see if my RTX3070TI ill be replaced with a AMD 7900 next time its time to change out parts. Have a great Vacation Jay... Looking forward to seeing Phil's benchmarks.
phil you are going to rock this show. So looking forward to your reviews of the cards man.
Have a great vacation Jay!
They look great- hoping for the performance to match.
Phil, make sure to roast in your videos how Jay described a bunch of LEDs on the 7900 xt that arent there...
Just bought a 4090 Founders Edition from eBay yesterday. Really excited!! I’m giving it to my wife to wrap for me for Christmas, haha.
Such an awesome time we’re living in for technology, where one can just pop a card into your system and are instantly gaming at 4k with real-time ray tracing at over 100fps. And, even at inflated prices, it’s all a heck of a lot cheaper than computers use to be just a few decades ago.
Cheaper then it used to be? What lol
If Phil is going to be centre stage, whose going to be behind the camera? Nik?
GoodGame. Haha, I'm just kidding. All the best on the vacation Phil and Nik got this👌
I look forward to Phil superimposing himself on the ad spots
That ever who is the fastest between green and red.... the red one is a massive win for me because of the size
Good luck, Phil!
got myself a rx 6900 xt for 690 euros back in october. if the 7000 series is gonna run good, maybe going to upgrade with the 8000 series, when the new chiplettdesigne is going to be more polished
I bought a 6800xt during blackfriday ($799 compared to $1000+ for a 3080 easy deciesion) have had 0 issues with it so far. Runs my games great with high fps without FSR on on very high settings.
I pre-ordered one at $1200 for an itx build. There's a reason you don't call it a 3 slot card, a 2.25 slot card will fit in a 2 slot case.
You (left) versus the guy she said not to worry about (right) at 6:30. 😆
Hmm, would've liked another DP port on the back but suppose taking one out and all just for vr headset isn't that big of a deal. That or move one monitor over to hdmi. But waiting on when reviews come out and decide then. Can't wait.
A 2.5 slot card is not quite the same as a 3 slot card, because it actually allows for a card neighboring it 3 slots apart.
They shipped a Ryzen 7000 series CPU with it, because these Cards are able to work together with the latest AMD CPU series to split the workload, depending on which processor can handle the task more efficient.
Or at least something like that, if i remember correctly.
So i assume they expect you guys to perform the tests in a full AMD Rig, to show off one of the benefits of a complete current gen AMD Setup .😄
Phil deserves more camera time! Love this dude!
I like that we're gonna get a Phill video. Here's my petition to call the series Awesome Sh*t Review With Phill
'bout to become PhilzTwoCents up in here.
I’m thinking of upgrading my 2060 Super to the 7900 XT! Though I don’t really like the red accents but I guess they’re small enough to be okay.
The benchmarking is going to be Philnomenal 😁
Nvidia: Bet no one would be able to make a modern strong as heck card without it being the size of a small human baby!
AMD: Hold my beer...
It has a RoboCop accent all around. I would love to see a black matte build with RGB 😜. I just love the sexy black stealth colour.
The HD 7990 was launched on April 14th 2013 ! *So I believe/expect/hope, that RADEON will launch an '10 year anniversary' RX 7990 "an maybe 4090 KILLER" GPU , on April 14th 2023 !*
I'll wait for the Lian li v3000 plus full Black full RAD build

So disappointed by the pricing. Still too expensive.
I remember struggling to purchase a $500CDN 7970 Radeon back in the day…..now they are $1500CDN and up.
Low power consumption, smaller cooler, fits in nearly ever case and it beats every 4080 series card (including 4080 ti). It is around 20% less fps achieved in gaming versus the 4090. Wait till the card is benchmarks by 3rd party. You will see the numbers. It is an impressive card.
😲 Welcome to team red, indeed. So glad I waited!
