It's not a direct comparison. You can get the 32GB/1TB version of this thing for $1k. That's with the keyboard, kickstand, controller connector, more ports, etc over the Legion Go. Yes, that wouldn't be worth it to many, but it's still more than reasonable for what you're getting.

It’s a 1,000. It does have 32 gigs of RAM & anyone who hasn’t seen 32 gigs of RAM in action is missing out, but it IS 1,000. The most useful thing about One X Player is that the software comes with a 1-press bottom to enable/disable AMD upscaling. Dealing w/ upscaling on these devices & accessing the menus in game that informs you the upscale is actually active can be exhausting. Primarily b/c almost all of them use portrait mode displays & AMD software is designed to work with landscape mode displays. The single press button just for instant activation of upscaling is a very useful tool.
ive seen 32gigs of ram in action and to be honest its not all that different than 16, most games i don't even notice a difference when using 16 vs 32, yes there are some games where you get better performance but it's not so much that I'd say your missing out
it is for a handheld especially with all the newer stuff. If it’s not making a difference then how can I run the new Indiana Jones game at 1080p on ultra settings w/ 32 gigs? How can I run Silient Hill 2 on Ultra settings? with a 7,000 series AMD chip? If you know anything about these games it would seem impossible. with 16 gigs of RAM that Indiana Jones game struggles to run at low settings, especially if you want to do 1080p. With 32 gigs it’s running with high end graphic settings. I have two devices where the only difference is literally the RAM. Everything else is the same. Holy heck, man. 32 gigs of RAM will run Alan Wake 2 on ultra settings.
I have tested it personally & with 16 gigs the best you can do it run Indiana Jones at medium settings with the shadows turned down. with 32 gigs you can run it at the highest setting, which I think is “supreme” with the shadows turned down. Everything but shadow quality is maxed out & it’s running at basically exactly 30fps, on 1080p.
While these mobile chips from AMD and Intel are getting more powerful, most AAA games will still only run at 40-80fps, making these 144hz and 120hz screens kind of unnecessary. Fortunately, driver-level framegen software like AFMF and Lossless Scaling are on the rise, which could allow these handheld PCs to play big AAA games up to 120/144hz, even on high settings. They could even allow you to save on battery (since you will technically be running games at lower frames, but you'll be seeing higher fps). I'd love to see you do a video on Lossless Scaling tried on handheld PCs like this and the ROG Ally X and Ayaneos!
I miss the days when there were only two parties vying for my consumer dollars: it's Coke v. Pepsi, Burger King v. McDonalds, Sega v. "Company Who Shall Not Be Named." Personally for me im waiting for a solid Oden sized PC handheld before i ever consider switching away from my Steam Deck. The Deck is amazing, but its a bit too big for being comfy long term. Basically wanting a Steam Deck mini, which is likely a way off.
On a personal level i am waiting for cpu/battery tech to improve enough that I can play 15 watt level for 6 hours minimum. Otherwise just get a laptop, plug it in, and play with a bluetooth controller.
I'm with ya. Although I think it's more likely that we'll first get efficient APUs that'll allow us to game at lower wattages for 6h, rather than new battery tech.
So it's exactly the same display as Lenovo Legion Go, same panel, specs and borders. It's also the same as Lenovo Legion Y700 tablet. And you can attach a controller to the tablet. When comparing three devices (X1 mini, GO, Y700) I prefer the tablet. It's several times cheaper (less than 300 dollars), it's lighter and more versatile. And I love playing PC games via local streaming, which this tablet does perfectly. It is also one of the small possibilities to run games at 1600p with 144 Hz.
The answer to your first cereal question is Corn Pops. The answer to your 2nd is the Ally X because it can run Bazzite, but if you're sticking to windows I'd prefer the X1 Mini.
I don't think Xbox is ever making a handheld, PlayStation seems like it's being weird right now, rumors about Nintendo's console only having 256gb of storage (also not a great lineup of games last gen), I think I officially given up on the perfect handheld being made by one of the big 3. So, for my end-all handheld I'm looking into something like this. 6 - 8-inch screen with detachable controllers. Probably going to get this or hopefully something thinner and lighter comes out. Just wish it came with a 4TB SSD so I could add the extra 2tb micro SD card and just have everything I could ever need on one device.
