This is an amazing video on the whip making process, and I am a big fan of your detailed descriptions of the choices you make. I have tried making leather whips before, but this makes me want to dive into Kangaroo work.
21:30 Similar thoughts recently from the nylon perspective. I can braid the overlay tight enough to get my optimal tension, and I think saving the tight braiding for the overlay gives me more control over where the tension lets up. I don’t like the idea of accumulating stiffness over multiple layers.
For sure, I used to think about it very differently, but sometimes the results defy reason and I think we have to temper our intuition with practice and field experience. I remember when I first started down the road of omitting binding from my transitions, and the first thing I found was that the arc of the thong looked great but I consistently had a kink right off the handle. So then I started experimenting with fewer bellies, no bellies, and graduated tension, and over time I got to a point where I can get that strong transition with fewer layers and no additional materials. We have to be willing to try stuff that doesn't make intuitive sense, I guess is my conclusion
Thanks for the great instructional video! Beautiful work Terrance. I reside in LA/California. Where is the best place I can get my Kangaroo hides from? Thank you!
I’m learning a lot watching, I feel like I’m ready to take on kangaroo! I’ve got 3 hides waiting for me
Thanks for your support my friend, good luck on your upcoming projects!
Thank you for sharing this! So cool to see your process
Glad you found it interesting, and thanks for your support my friend!

Thanks so much! I hope you do play more with making leather whips, I think it's extra challenging of course, but very rewarding
Yeah, I'll definitely need to be shown in person how to make a whip.
I bought one of your whips recently, so it's interesting to see behind the scene videos like this showing how they're made
Thanks very much for your support!

Awesome video Tory! I’ve really enjoyed watching your whip making journey on this channel
Thanks so much Alyssum! Crazy seeing how many times and how drastically my methods have changed over time.
Thank you for sharing😉😉😉
