Great job I am 73. I’m going to start leather work. I started doing upholstery at the age of 14 and now I’m ready to start doing some leather work. I am really impressed with your Detail and quality. I just hope I can be a little bit as good as you are. Thank you for your video.
Great stuff! I actually got into leatherwork and made my first project, a gun belt, by watching a combination of your videos and Sam Andrews, and it turned out great. Glad you guys take the time to do videos like this, because it's led me onto several other projects and a hobby/trade I truly love.
The best and most functional belt and holster design I've ever seen. I will definitely apply this experience. Thank you very much to the master. Show me your work.
Something I pick up from Sam Andrews is putting some scrap carpet down when using the sawing action that way you can keep the leather flat on the table.. It works great especially when cutting thicker leather
Excellent work. I like how you thought through some of the steps and tried some things I haven't seen others do. I learned a ton here! Thanks for the extended cut video.
@@whitandpark I'm 15 and starting to get somewhat decent at leatherwork and I want to do western goods like holsters, chaps, and stuff of that nature. I want to try my hand at the gunbelt in this video where can I buy the pattern? if you can show me where once I get it done ill send you some pictures. it will take a while though to stitch because I don't have a machine. thank you for your time and have a good day.
I'm a leather worker for about 15 years, do a lot of custom knife sheaths and small ammo holders I'm air rifle oriented so I've done quite a few cheek guards also
Great gun fighter rig. That said I would have added a 4oz liner to the holster so you have smooth leather inside an out. Traditional rigs were made from a single piece of leather. but our modern reproductions are all lined. Beautiful work none the less.
On the machine, the traction stone should be as close to the knife as possible. Then the traction will improve and the skin will be removed smoothly.Good job . Thank you, it was very interesting. Greetings from Dagestan Russia.
Always exciting to see another video from you! Awesome to see the whole process step by step 👍 Very informative, and of course, as always, amazing work!! You continue to be an inspiration! Hope to see more videos soon!
I cut my patterns out the same way. I've found it helpful to place a door stopping weight on the leather and have it overhang my workbench when cutting.
Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing. I hope you're considering making these holsters for models with a 7.5" barrel. If so, I will definitely order one. Cheers!
The only success I've had with the fuzzy bits, is to sand it with rough, then fine grit. The rough gets rid of the big bits, the fine almost burnishes it. Holster and belt came out great!
Thanks Rob! You'll notice, that's what I did. I used 80 on the wheel and then finished it with 320. Usually that works, but the leather was too loose, all the sanding in the world would only make it worse.
@@whitandpark I did see you smooth the edges with it, to good effect. I use it on the flesh side too, it gets most of the really bad bits down, but rather not use the fluffy bits unless I have to.
I really like the way you looped the leather to hold in the bullets. I'm making a plague doctor costume and I have small viles, and I've been trying to find ways to add them to a belt. I think I might try this method
Really enjoy your videos, thank you! Just curious, why don’t you put a tapered welt in between the halves of leather before you stitch them together? I’ve found the fit to be better and that area has a lot of stress on the threads.
Whoa Baby!! huh ? No !! Duh ! My lightbulb upstairs 'bout to fall out. Better tighten it up. Am lovin' this. About as good it gets.!! Dam Boy yous got what it takes. Love to have a holster of yours.. Well, all I can say is good luck , very best to you with that talent. Over & Out !!
Very nice! I been making cartridge belts with no lining or anything behind the loops. Ive seen many examples from the 1800s that were just plain jane like i do....from Sears and such
I have made several leather holsters in my lifetime. I would never make one where the trigger is so exposed as is shown in your photos. A branch or stick could easily engage the trigger. Maybe it would be an advantage in a fast draw competition but I want my triggers covered. A tip for shooters who use commercial holsters. The snaps will wear on the bluing inside. Save worn out leather wallets and cut and glue on a piece of the thin leather to cover the snap. I used to save my mother's leather pocketbooks to make my holsters. I don't think ladies carry them as much anymore but they were like gold. I even used the locks and straps.
@@stephengagliano3831 True but sometimes the hammer itself can be pulled back and cocked and not noticed. With age, hearing often fades and sounds go unnoticed. I prefer not to have anything exposed. Also, some of my guns are double action on first pull of the trigger and single action after. No safety.
Absolutely beautiful. So interesting and mesmerizing watching you work your art. I am getting into cowboy fast draw competition and am wondering if you make holsters that meet their specifications?
That is stunning !!!! Well done brother . I have a question - maybe a stupid question… But what is the purpose of the large piece of leather that is stitched to Holster . ( the flap over part ). I was thinking of just trimming mine down to just a belt loop and carry “ Slim Jim “ style . Do you know what I mean ?? Just need to know before I do that , does that flap serve a purpose ?? Thanks so much !!
Hey neighbor, I was wondering if you have seen Sam's stuff on the hank strange channel, you should try his carpet and sawing technique for cutting out holsters. Looks easy enough. Great video as always.

Awesome work as always, Parker! Quick question about your strap cutter that I'm sure you get all of the time; which one do you use? I have a strap cutter, but thus far it is the only tool I have that I don't look forward to using. Thanks for your consideration, and again, beautiful work!

To keep the belt on your waist, the rough or "nappy" texture provides friction helping to keep the belt from sliding up when you draw your pistols.

Use multiple layers of Saran Wrap over your revolver mold that will give a little room depending on number of layer of wrap
