  • How to restore your headlights like new after destroying them with the rust-oleum wipe new kit. I threw the kit in the garbage after they put a terrible film on my headlights and started from scratch the old fashion way. With a little elbow grease and the right sandpapers, compound, and polish I had my headlights looking new again.
    The rust-oleum kit came with a ceramic wipe pad after you completed the restoration. The wipe pad actually left a film that left the headlights looking terrible. I would NOT use this kit. It is hard to apply the wipe pad without making a mistake. I would go to another kit or do it the old fashion way of using 600 grit, 1500 grit, 3000 grit, 5000 grit, compound, polish, and a ceramic coating or paint protection film.

    Thanks for the video! I wet sanded multiple times using 2,000 then 3,000 with the included block. The driver's side headlight 3 times and passenger side 4 times. You're supposed to keep sanding until the water on the headlight loses the yellow (the oxidation coming off) tint. You can tell your close when the headlight surface becomes fairly smooth from sanding.
    I could tell you may not have sanded all the oxidation off because the Wipe New cloth had yellow on it. The cloudiness as it dried was likely remaining oxidation under the ceramic. It's a LOT of work but mine came out crystal clear. (Even overlapping with the wipe). My headlights were completely clouded and yellow before. I am very happy with this product even though it required a lot of elbow grease.

    Not sanded well enough and you did way too much overlapping when you applied the coating. Open the cloth and get it done in no more than 3 or 4 wipes. Way too much back and forth. Mine turned out like a brand new lens.

    I used this today and barely put effort into it and my headlights look great. This product works. I’ll be using it going forward.

    I’ve used Rain-X and Armor All and recently found this Rustoleum product. I found this did a great job. The headlights on two, ten year old cars that are Boston based are 98% better. Very happy with this product.

    I just used this product on my lenses. It was easy to use and my lenses look great. They don't look brand new but close enough

    Thanks for the video. I was surprised of the results on my end. I think my head lights were even worst. Looks new again and was able to do both my vehicles. So far the results stayed the same the following day.

    I dunno, I followed the directions above and the process came out just fine for me. Clear as a bell on my Hyundai's 12-year-old headlights (that I'd never cleaned/cleared before). Note: I did NOT overlap the wiping. Money well spent.

    Maguire’s mag and chrome polish. No sanding and it last a long time. Put it on buff it off.

    What if I kinda got the wipe on my paint a little because I can kind of see something on my car paint

  • @adamwinquist5824
    @adamwinquist5824 Рік тому +2

    Yeah man, you kinda screwed up the application process. You have to be really careful to not overlap and wipe the lens in long continuous strokes from side to side. Still, your video was helpful as I learned what not to do 😬

    OH, you can also use 3M wipe on clear coat instead of all that sanding and time, its a ONE time permenate wipe on. it also can be used to touch up spots on paint with the clear coating gone. just f.y.i.

    You did not follow the instructions, ONE wipe from top to bottom untill you cover the entire headlight. NOT round and round and over and over, what are you? my age. im 13 and did a better job on my brothers lights with this kit. NO KIT do you continue to wipe that clear coat liquid over and over it gets sticky and dries and lint and bug can get on it, just ONE wipe top to bottom from left to right. You going to put a inch of that clearcoat on it?? to satisfy yourself?

      Toyota and Honda best on the market. Best quality and longest lasting by far. Ask any reputable mechanic. They are tanks and can go for 300k miles+ with basic maintenance. Had a mechanic tell me my Sequioa will last 300k and said they’ve had sequoias and tundras at 350k miles. One 2007 Toyota Tundra went 1,000,000 miles and the dealership bought it back to take apart the engine to see its condition. The video is on UA-cam look it up. My Chevy started breaking down at 120k to 140k miles and gave up on me at 180k miles and all the interior parts started breaking and wearing out. Knobs, trims, carpet, seats

    This Rustoleum Wipe New Kit ruined my sons headlight. I called Rustoleum Company and all they did was give me a lousy refund for the kit. It ruined his headlight. I mean now we have to take it in to a detail shop. Completely disgusting that they do NOT stand by their products
