Yeah, rising in the ranks of the Yakuza, being left for the dead, killing his old boss, searching for his son, finding out that his son is working for the oganization that their fighting against, seeing his son being killed by the person he's working for isn't a good enough story.
To me he's the best cause I just love his mask design. It looks so much more menacing than the old version that Houston has, and that sassy personality is the cherry on top. Matter of fact I recently got a physical copy of Hox's mask.
I just love the idea of a guy in a stone mask, absolutely slammed blackout drunk, telling you to lay down and find that zen place in your mind, it's amazing. dukes yelling lines are really good too, the VA puts so much emotion into it and it fleshes out the characters personality. but I mainly pick him because he sounds like the bee movie script guy while calm

I've been playing as Houston since he was still called Hoxton in 2013, something about him always had me hooked. His calm professionalism kept me grounded when everyone else was either a wacky, over-the-top psychopath or a stereotype. In my opinion, Houston seems like the most likely to be a real bank robber. I can totally relate to him as well, as we're both overshadowed by our older brothers. It's a shame Overkill threw any potential story away and essentially kicked his character to the curb.

I was so upset when I found out Wolf's voice actor left as he's by far my favorite character. A complete wackjob who does different voices and is energetic as hell. And I'll never forget the one time I clutched a heist and right when everyone got put in custody Bain told me, "Wolf, you're the only one left. You can do this."

The Hardcore Henry pack trailer actually plays really neatly into Jimmy's lore, with him basically joining the gang simply to get back at Akan, and with him killing "himself" as suit Jimmy before coming back in as the coked up Jimmy clone we know and love
Man, as a Joy player that suggestion of Japanese lines when she gets an excited over a kill sounds sick. I also do wish she had some more depth and story, particularly with her connection to Locke. Anyways, great video.
Scarface is my favorite, I just love his gusto and his pager lines never fail to give me a chuckle no matter how many times I hear them. Sadly, I don't get to hear them enough as I mostly play loud, but his loud voicelines are also admirable in and of themselves, giving me the same sense of accomplishment he feels when saying each voice line. Also, hearing Scarface whisper in stealth is funny to me, idk why.
I love Scarface too, his specials lines are great. It’s not even super comedic it’s just the way they’re said like “we just killed ourselves a medic” or “ I wasted that medic fuck!”n

Wolf is like a modded character, who stopped getting updates since 2015. The most scary thing, is that nobody knows will Wolf recieve a new voice actor, or will Ulf come back to this character, or Wolf will be just removed from Payday3 at all, despite being in Payday Gang from the beginning. But i still love this guy so much
Unfortunately, I think it’s more likely that Wolf will be gone. If I’m not wrong, his ending said that he went dark, and he hasn’t been seen in a while
Jakeson Brass Oh yeah absolutely Jiro has not just the language but the unique connection with the katana, the interactions even a proper story arch. My point is better and more humanised voice lines paired with brilliant acting makes dragon better. Than Sokol anyway. Sokol didn’t even have a trailer for his entrance just a poorly made golden grin one. He would easily be top 5 if he actually spoke the language that he’s claimed to be native too and familiar with. I just don’t feel anything like wow that’s cool when I play Sokol. Dragon jiro and chains tho, you feel immersed as much as you can granted it’s payday. But totally agree jiro imo is number 1 best design for a character by far

Omahgod I could cream halfway through. I just wish he spoke more English as it would make it easier for me to hear the in-game callouts. But then again, it wouldn't make sense if he was perfectly fluent in english after a few years in Murica as an outlaw
Sokol is my most played character. The Grinder perk deck is cracked, the hockey stick is perfect for smashing in a Dozer's face, and the Valkryia is great for dodge-crit builds. Like b33 said, the voicelines are awesome. My favorite is the "house in Montana" pager response, only because it was a reference to Borodin from Hunt for the Red October.
Forget about Jacket or Wolf drilling the Dozer Joy literally treats murder and crime like a game she even set up a point system. Most psychopathic character in Payday confirmed
For the most part I can actually agree with these placements, but Dallas will always be my favorite heister. From how recognizable he is to the amazing and extremely memeable voice lines, he’s just a really fun character to play as.
I gotta say, Rust is one of my favorite. The lack of emotion and constant throwing of slurs everywhere is honestly perfect to me. It’s basically just Ron Perlman

I really think Rust was a missed opportunity, they got Ron Perlman to do the voice acting then had him deliver boring and generic voice lines with not a lot of emotion, he definitely could’ve been a fantastic heister is they had done it right
@@elijahnakumura4375 Nah, there are options. Out of all the heisters, I think Rust and Sangres are the least likely to pull off a high profile job since they are just glorified petty hoodlums. The original quarted and Huston are after all the most suited to such work, professional, low profile, well rounded, calm and collected. Same goes for Dragan, Sokol, Duke and Clover. The more bonkers and outlandish characters were added and more franchise tie ins they did, the more the image of the heist group became murky. Eg. Pointless movie tie ins such as Whick (I could just watch the movies), Bodhi (old movie character, not interesting) and Tony Montana (loved his game, no reason for him to be here) which add little to the game's original lore and are weird, as well as characters which are "crazy psychos" such as Jacket (quiet boi), Jimmy (loud boi), Bonnie (fat and Scottish), Sydney (lame generic punk), that have no meaningfull purpouse other than "I kill shit". Then there are just flat out stereotypes, like Jiro (loud, japanese speaking yakuza man who can be understood by 10 % of people and 0 % of the team), Sangres, Rust (the Overkill MC is already in the game) and Joy (Wolf is already a technician). But shit, it's just my opinion. It's a comedy series not meant to be taken seriously.
Dragan? Did you mean "Communist Dallas?" (legit, an old crewmate of mine mained him, and would randomly switch to Dallas to see if we could notice... We hardly ever did until we started playing) Also, as a Jacket main, I don't mind the "lack of variety" in lines. Except when Medics were first added, it took them a while to add other lines as opposed to "Doctor no longer in the house." I'll admit that I switched to Jimmy until that was fixed.
last week i played with 2 people they played dallas and jiro. i played dragan. jiro told us we look exactly the same. then we started guessing each others characters ages and everyone was surprised when jiro wasn't even that much older (dallas 44, dragan 45, jiro 52). dallas and me would've thought jiro is easily in his 70s while jiro thought dallas and dragan would definitely be younger lmao
My favorite is Sangres. I love the way he delivers his lines with pagers, half the time it feels like he’s thinking completely random things. Plus his accent is great.

I’ve been running with a British crew for quite a while (Clover/Hoxton/Jimmy/Bonnie) as I just love their voice lines because of how crazy and aggressive they are. I occasionally swap Bonnie with Duke for his posh assertiveness It’s much better with the bot improvements mod as you get to hear more of their spotting, domination and special kill lines

I wish there were alternate versions of Jimmy to match how wildly different the clones were from HH. Different voice lines for the colonel, punk, hippie and nerd clones as well as the addict one would've been a rly cool way to implement the film's canon into the game

Jiro is the guy who I never play but adore because for some reason, whether it's a lobby with 3 players or an offline game, he is always the one who helps me if I get downed. I've had times where I'm about to die and suddenly Jiro comes in and murders anyone who even looked at me. Jiro is the best
My headcanon is that the Scarface in Payday is Tony’s son with Elvira (who actually wasn’t infertile like Tony claimed). Elvira disowns him for reminding her of Montana, and he grows up idolising his late father. This leads to him following in his father’s footsteps and attempting to become him. He then takes revenge on the Sosa Cartel with the Payday gang as the entire heist would feel very personal to him. It would also explain why he looks so much like Tony when it’s established in the FBI files that Tony himself is long dead. But that’s besides the point- a pretty good ranking I’d say, didn’t expect Clover at number one though. I’d also rank Wolf higher just because of his voice lines when he points out a special unit (and how downright panicked he sounds).

Honestly, i like that these characters are grown ass heisters with lotta experience. the one Yakuza member of the gang wasn't an anime character but a cool old.. turtle as you said with dramatic backstory. Well and Joy? A gamer teenager with no scratch on hands suddenly picks up a rifle and empties a bank? Meh...
I play jimmy because i like the movie, a problem with him is he has no lines for the medic, saying nothing when killing them and going “HOLY SHIT” or other swearing and screaming while spotting
Jiro's voice lines are just "AHHH HAYAA YAHHH HAYAAA AHHHHH", with the occasional "I NEED HEALING" also, Hoxton is my favorite heister because he BUYS THE GOLDEN GRIN CASSINO in the secret ending.
Jimmy is my favorite because I love Hardcore Henry and his cocaine version was done real justice in the game. Wish the character could be in more things, though : \
I feel in the next game they could get Keanu reeves. He's in cyberpunk and he accepted that because he loved the story and cdproject red. So who knows? Loved to see more of him.
Chains is number one for me, when your doing stealth and you place bodybags he screams: “BODY BAG CASE IS OUT” or “AYO WE’VE GOT A BODYBAG CASE” and it gives me a laugh everytime😂
Personally My top 5 would go as thus: 5 - Joy I Don't really mind her not sounding Japanese because I think she was born in the USA? But to Japanese heritage. Her voice can be a bit... "Attention Grabbing" but she's in her early 20's and it matches the idea of a snarky younger adult who thinks they're hot shit 4 - Wolf To me wolf may not sound very swedish unless he's speaking Swedish but his story and unhinged voice lines give him points imo 3 - Clover I love Clover though I do wish there was more story integration for her 2 - Duke Personally I'm a fan of how Duke played a massive role in the story aspect of Locke's later missions 1 - Jacket Considering how It's been said that Payday is not canon to Hotline Miami but HM is canon to payday Jacket is an interesting take. Is this THE Miami Maniac? Is this a 50 blessings agent? It could just be a copycat killer because the HM1 protag sorta... Yaknow, spoilers nuke spoilers. As a Hotline Miami fan I do like their take on how to bring a silent protagonist into a very verbal game
Regarding Bonnie's "Sasunnach bastard!" line, 'sasunnach ' is a somewhat disparaging term for non-gaelic speaking people. In a literal sense it means 'Saxon' but is used to mean anyone who isn't a highlander. You could think of it as a very Scottish way of calling someone a foreigner that can carry with it an hint of highlander pride and a bit of contempt, or in Bonnie's case a lot of contempt.
Jimmy would be my number one pick because he’s so fucking unique and cool and I love how his tone of his voice changes from getting shot at or before an assault wave he’s just so fucking cool lol
Personally a huge fan of Dragan. Love his actor and I prefer his more quiet delivery when some of the newer character (at least I feel) scream way to much sometimes.
Same, Dragan’s my most played Geister coming up just short of 3000 heists with him. Also the actual VA did time so it makes it a little more cool to see he was able to bounce back after a three year sentence and VA in a popular video game.
Bodhi was the first character I played as and He’s grown to be my favorite, jacket and jimmy are 2 that I’ve played and loved, and I’ve been playing Sangras a lot lately and he’s slowly becoming one of my favorites.
I'm really glad Jimmy and Jacket made it so high. I just like Jacket as a concept (since I dont have the game in order to play him in payday) but I absolutely love Jimmy. I picked him because we had the same first name and fell in love with his goofy full of life lines. I ended up watching the movie after my friend pointed out he was from Hardcore Henry and oh man 💯😄
I really like Sangres and Jimmy, everyone can agree that Sangres has some dope ass gloves and the Shirt that changes from heist to heist, Jimmy's suit is very unique and nice looking (it is not because of the weird powdered sugar there) and the White Death mask for Jimmy is dope looking

I've been playing as Houston since he was still called Hoxton in 2013, something about him always had me hooked. His calm professionalism kept me grounded when everyone else was either a wacky, over-the-top psychopath or a stereotype. In my opinion, Houston seems like the most likely to be a real bank robber. I can totally relate to him as well, as we're both overshadowed by our older brothers. It's a shame Overkill threw any potential story away and essentially kicked his character to the curb.

Scarface is my favorite, I just love his gusto and his pager lines never fail to give me a chuckle no matter how many times I hear them. Sadly, I don't get to hear them enough as I mostly play loud, but his loud voicelines are also admirable in and of themselves, giving me the same sense of accomplishment he feels when saying each voice line. Also, hearing Scarface whisper in stealth is funny to me, idk why.

The most scary thing, is that nobody knows will Wolf recieve a new voice actor, or will Ulf come back to this character, or Wolf will be just removed from Payday3 at all, despite being in Payday Gang from the beginning.

Jakeson Brass Oh yeah absolutely Jiro has not just the language but the unique connection with the katana, the interactions even a proper story arch. My point is better and more humanised voice lines paired with brilliant acting makes dragon better. Than Sokol anyway. Sokol didn’t even have a trailer for his entrance just a poorly made golden grin one. He would easily be top 5 if he actually spoke the language that he’s claimed to be native too and familiar with. I just don’t feel anything like wow that’s cool when I play Sokol. Dragon jiro and chains tho, you feel immersed as much as you can granted it’s payday. But totally agree jiro imo is number 1 best design for a character by far

Sokol is my most played character. The Grinder perk deck is cracked, the hockey stick is perfect for smashing in a Dozer's face, and the Valkryia is great for dodge-crit builds. Like b33 said, the voicelines are awesome. My favorite is the "house in Montana" pager response, only because it was a reference to Borodin from Hunt for the Red October.

@@elijahnakumura4375 Nah, there are options. Out of all the heisters, I think Rust and Sangres are the least likely to pull off a high profile job since they are just glorified petty hoodlums. The original quarted and Huston are after all the most suited to such work, professional, low profile, well rounded, calm and collected. Same goes for Dragan, Sokol, Duke and Clover. The more bonkers and outlandish characters were added and more franchise tie ins they did, the more the image of the heist group became murky. Eg. Pointless movie tie ins such as Whick (I could just watch the movies), Bodhi (old movie character, not interesting) and Tony Montana (loved his game, no reason for him to be here) which add little to the game's original lore and are weird, as well as characters which are "crazy psychos" such as Jacket (quiet boi), Jimmy (loud boi), Bonnie (fat and Scottish), Sydney (lame generic punk), that have no meaningfull purpouse other than "I kill shit". Then there are just flat out stereotypes, like Jiro (loud, japanese speaking yakuza man who can be understood by 10 % of people and 0 % of the team), Sangres, Rust (the Overkill MC is already in the game) and Joy (Wolf is already a technician). But shit, it's just my opinion. It's a comedy series not meant to be taken seriously.

Also, as a Jacket main, I don't mind the "lack of variety" in lines. Except when Medics were first added, it took them a while to add other lines as opposed to "Doctor no longer in the house." I'll admit that I switched to Jimmy until that was fixed.

jiro told us we look exactly the same. then we started guessing each others characters ages and everyone was surprised when jiro wasn't even that much older (dallas 44, dragan 45, jiro 52). dallas and me would've thought jiro is easily in his 70s while jiro thought dallas and dragan would definitely be younger lmao
My favorite is Sangres. I love the way he delivers his lines with pagers, half the time it feels like he’s thinking completely random things. Plus his accent is great.

I’ve been running with a British crew for quite a while (Clover/Hoxton/Jimmy/Bonnie) as I just love their voice lines because of how crazy and aggressive they are. I occasionally swap Bonnie with Duke for his posh assertiveness
It’s much better with the bot improvements mod as you get to hear more of their spotting, domination and special kill lines

Jiro is the guy who I never play but adore because for some reason, whether it's a lobby with 3 players or an offline game, he is always the one who helps me if I get downed. I've had times where I'm about to die and suddenly Jiro comes in and murders anyone who even looked at me. Jiro is the best

My headcanon is that the Scarface in Payday is Tony’s son with Elvira (who actually wasn’t infertile like Tony claimed). Elvira disowns him for reminding her of Montana, and he grows up idolising his late father. This leads to him following in his father’s footsteps and attempting to become him. He then takes revenge on the Sosa Cartel with the Payday gang as the entire heist would feel very personal to him. It would also explain why he looks so much like Tony when it’s established in the FBI files that Tony himself is long dead.
But that’s besides the point- a pretty good ranking I’d say, didn’t expect Clover at number one though. I’d also rank Wolf higher just because of his voice lines when he points out a special unit (and how downright panicked he sounds).

Regarding Bonnie's "Sasunnach bastard!" line, 'sasunnach ' is a somewhat disparaging term for non-gaelic speaking people. In a literal sense it means 'Saxon' but is used to mean anyone who isn't a highlander. You could think of it as a very Scottish way of calling someone a foreigner that can carry with it an hint of highlander pride and a bit of contempt, or in Bonnie's case a lot of contempt.

Personally a huge fan of Dragan. Love his actor and I prefer his more quiet delivery when some of the newer character (at least I feel) scream way to much sometimes.

Same, Dragan’s my most played Geister coming up just short of 3000 heists with him. Also the actual VA did time so it makes it a little more cool to see he was able to bounce back after a three year sentence and VA in a popular video game.
Bodhi was the first character I played as and He’s grown to be my favorite, jacket and jimmy are 2 that I’ve played and loved, and I’ve been playing Sangras a lot lately and he’s slowly becoming one of my favorites.

I'm really glad Jimmy and Jacket made it so high. I just like Jacket as a concept (since I dont have the game in order to play him in payday) but I absolutely love Jimmy. I picked him because we had the same first name and fell in love with his goofy full of life lines. I ended up watching the movie after my friend pointed out he was from Hardcore Henry and oh man 💯😄
