Lol based on how sharing my thoughts on Twitter went I fully expect a lot of people to not even listen to everything I said and now attack me thinking I hate the show. Great episode except for one part for me!
You the GOAT don’t worry bout them lol
if it’s the same little problem I had we’ll see. either way opinions are options not facts 🔥
It deffo felt a bit rushed, to me anyway
Some people in that thread took it to the extreme. I'm surprised it spun outta control from the tweets.
Twitter am I right?
You’re never supposed to tie a horse to anything in case it gets spooked. It needs to be able to come loose so they don’t break their own neck. So it was actually some pretty impressive attention to detail by the show-runners
Plus if you want to get away fast unting would take too long
Agreed
I hadn’t thought about horses hurting themselves but I did figure it was to let it run away if attacked or let them get away quickly
Oh shut up it’s a show 😂
@@Riqq44 did you not read the comment lol?
Seeing Pedro Pascal show a side of Joel we never got to see in the game was too perfect. Loved it.
You sure we didn't see this side in the game i mean he kinda did but i think the show did it better
@@OhyeahMrKrabz yea we saw it but not to that extent but it was shown
Yeah, Joel in the game was way more reserved, keeping things inside. I really like this version of him.
They made Joel too weak. I am sick of this modern "subversion of expectations". New female protagonist more hardened and competent than aging male protagonist. Literally modern writing. Joel should have more grit to him, more anger. Joel is a survivor, not a random dude, and this Joel is not a survivor.
@@paulbadman8509 Dude. Chill tf out lmao 😂
That old couple in the beginning really caught me off guard, they were cute..

I'm genuinely surprised by the amount of reactions I've seen where people aren't familiar with a menstrual cup
FR, maybe because it wasn't that common up until recently, but still...
@@diegodeluquev1433 menstrual cups have been around since the very early 2000’s so it can’t be that…
I had no idea what it was until this comment section lol
Unless someone in your life uses them, it makes sense. I’m a woman (28) and didn’t know those things existed until a couple years ago granted, I was the only girl in my family aside from my Mom and we didn’t really talk a lot about that stuff.
@makeda6530 I'm not a woman and don't know anyone using it but I know what it is
12:15 That was a diva cup - it is a reusable cup to replace tampons & pads when on your cycle. You fold it, as she does, insert it, and it unfolds, acting as a collection cup. Once full you take the knob on the end and pull it out, empty it, rinse and reinsert. ** Not really recommended for those with intense cramps
IT WOULD BE SOOO CLUTCH since you saw ellie score 1 singular pack of tampons in the gas station
Most reactions of this episode the reactors didn't know what a diva cup is
@@OhyeahMrKrabz oh really? i knew what it was so quick but i immediately remembered that i didnt even hear bout these till 2010s but apparently they were invented 03
That’s good to know, I didn’t know they existed until a few years ago too, so thanks.
@@brittnianime
This is my first time knowing it too, like i mean not everyone have coochies, i have a pee pee and in my country tampons are the standard and even if someone i knew use them, would they just casually talk about it?
I'm a guy and I knew what it was
The game injury was definitely more exciting but that piece of rebar sticking out of Joel would've KILLED him. Even without the show, it seemed strange that Joel would've survived that with just a little bit of antibiotics
Some good old fashioned game logic right there. He definitely would’ve died irl.
Ellie not only somehow got Joel to recover, but he was able to kick ass right after
They still could have done the same sequence but without that exact thing. To be honest I think the injury part is whatever mostly. I'd say it's more to do with how they handled it all as nothing really happened. It's just a super fast moment. They easily got out of the building, quiet af, no interaction at all just a jump cut. They definitely could have at least showed that leading up to action part at the end to keep Some suspense if not having the entire action sequence as they go all throughout the building like in the game.
@@ImShyo right? They skipped over literally the most badass thing Ellie does in the game
@@ImShyo this comment is my speed
Y'all really thought the diva cup was a contraceptive 😂😂😂😂 why would Maria give a contraceptive to a 14 year old she just met lmfao (FYI it's for periods)
I think the question is why wouldn't Maria give a 14 year old she just met a diva cup
Yeah, I was expecting Sheera to correct them, but no
I thought it was for peeing in the wild
It's amazing how so many people ( male and female ) that didn't know what that was. All over twitter and the subreddit. Someone guy even though it was an IUD. xD
@@Moondragon1821 and none of these people stopped to think "wait that doesn't make sense who the fuck gives an IUD to a teenager they literally just met" lmfao like let's be serious
This version of Joel is the most real(listic). Some ppl didn't like that he broke down or that he has panic attacks. But that's so human... I love that in the show he is more human, because in the game he acts as if he is a super soldier (tough and guarded), because in some way, he is. He cannot die permanently. He is a character you play, he is, in essence, immortal. And is not super affected by the close calls like a normal human usually would be.
They're doing amazing with the show.
Wait what? you're more or less right about the show but Joel doesn't know he's "immortal" in the game lmao why are you acting like he's suppose to be aware he's a videogame character that respawns
@@xDbrad If you don't get what I mean I don't really have to explain further. If someone else wants to explain it to you, they're free to do so.
@@tramarthomas6105 what no in the game he braver sure but thats just cause he is, not because he knows he cant die hes right yall niggas are stupid
He's tough and guarded because he doesn't want to emotionally invest in anything, so that he can't get hurt again when it gets taken away again. Which is also entirely human. It has nothing to do with building his personality around the gameplay. It was fine the way it was in the game. Instead of breaking down, he hardens up. Pushes her away, refusing to accept he's grown attached to her. If anything, this version is super pathetic, asking a soon-to-be father (his own brother no less) to risk his life instead. That's not a Joel move. Unless he truly believed Tommy is the better choice; in which case, he's irresponsible for letting Ellie pick.
personally I think they just made a different joel. both joels are human and real. some people like game joel become real reserved and tough and turn of everyrhing besides survival and keep personal stuff to themselves because they don’t like opening up. show joel is the emotional type that opens up to his bro because for some reason despite his brother abandoning him he still feels safe to him. either one works and it comes down to preference what you like. since I can identify more with game joel I prefer him. but each their own.
Episode 6 is probably my favorite episode so far seeing Joel showing fear getting emotional showing he is human and not just a cold heartless killer seeing Joel and Ellie bond even more just something special about episode 6
You knw damn well why they made him tht way. So they can atleast have consistency when adapting TLOU2. Im all in for it rather than what they did with the games. Glad the writers acknowledged wht they did wrong and is adjusting the characters better for the overall story.
@@Buckheimer what’s wrong with Joel in the game?
@@Buckheimerthey adapted joel realistically in the duology. people just love joel too much to see the flaws he had such as killing the doctor who could have made a vaccine which would have saved mankind.
@@SASU_Z I assume this person meant Joel's survival instincts/distrust, which were his distinct personality traits in the first game, but were completely brushed off in the second game for the sake of plot convenience. Joel from the first game was through a lot, knew he had *many* enemies, and knew better than to trust a bunch of strangers he just met. Joel in the game was even more closed off than in the show, and never really had this opening up moment, even with Tommy, the most trustworthy person in the world for him. We could understand why he did what he did, but we never really see him admit his motives/emotions out loud in the game. So the show runners really seem to set Joel in the show for the events of the second game beforehand, making him more open about himself than game Joel ever was.
Watching lupas hair journey is crazy
Nah fr. He came a long way lol
I'm about 6 months deep in mine, his 2 strands looking crispy.

You shouldn't tie up a horse, in case of danger they should be able to escape. Joel did it right - you just need to make horse "think" that he's tide up to not make him wonder around by himself.
how do ya do that
@@toophoot2757 Like Joel did, very loosely. If the horse only moves his head, he feels he's tied up, but if he moves stronger, like in fear, he'll be free.
Thank you
Are Tommy and Maria both insane or what!? Having a kid when you have no access to professional healthcare, midwifes, and doctors who can perform a C section if necessary. How stupid can you be. And having a child is just another mouth to feed. They sure are selfish, mindless, and primal instinct driven, they might as well be infected...
Interesting I never ever knew that
It's so sad when Joel thinks he sees his daughter in the crowd because that woman is about how old Sarah would've been plus she had a daughter which is what Sarah could've had
As an oldest sibling, I’m with Joel on this one. Tommy was wrong for not radioing. Even just a “I’m safe, but I won’t be able to radio for a while” would’ve been better than that silence. Joel’s out here risking his life and losing everything and everyone else he loves because he thinks Tommy’s in danger or worse, meanwhile Tommy’s just chilling getting his new wife pregnant? Nahhhh I’d be PISSED
That Dina cameo in the cafeteria, TLOU Part II baby.
I noticed tht very quickly
That was Dina? She came early in the show
Cool Easter egg
@@OhyeahMrKrabz Tbf Dina was already living in Jackson, plus she said when she first saw Ellie, she was eating through food like an animal
yeah they confirmed it on the podcast
The plastic thing Ellie was holding is a reusable period cup so that she's not constantly in need of pads/tampons....it definitely wasn't a contraceptive 😂😂
Damn Joel breaking down fearing he would fail Ellie was fantastic acting from Pedro
The machine that FEDRA uses probably checks for antibodies like the COVID test does. Antibody tests tend to show that you were exposed, not if you actually have it. The dog on the other hand probably actually can smell the fungus and so while Ellie will have the antibodies, she would not have any fungus.
Or the fungi are eveoled, different then to rest or her brain chemistry is normal despite fungus so dog doesn't register it like normal
my theory is that the dog was a bluff. couldn’t really smell anything, was just used to scare people into admitting if they were infected lol.
@@babykermie
maybe! We do know that dogs can sense the fungus- the dog Mercy in the first episode knew something was wrong with grandma before she fully turned. Maybe the sniffer dogs are sensing active spores- Ellie doesn’t have any active fungus in her, otherwise she’d be able to zombify people by biting or scratching them.
I like the fact they put shimmer in this episode and I’m thinking that girl Ellie yelled at was probably Dina but I’m not 100% sure
it was confirmed in the podcast
@@ItsIto- oh Nice thanks for the info 😁
if its Dina it was really smart to introduce her like this instead of intruducing their relationship like in the game.

This is one of the only tv shows I’ve seen where EVERY single episode consecutively has at least one major tear-jerk/gut punch scene. Most of the time it’s 2-3 amazing gut punches in one ep. t’s insane.

Y’all, that was a menstrual cup - an alternative to tampons and pads. 😂😂 That was tooooo much! 😂
First thing I thought of when Ellie found those pearls in episode 3 was "Yeah I guess menstrual cups hadn't really caught on in 2003.", but surprise surprise! Here they are in Jackson.
And what makes it so useful is that it’s reusable in a pinch
I actually agree. I think with all the drama in the show, the few times we have action it should be mad intense. It’s a better balance and HBO has pulled some crazy stunts with their budget already.
Yes. Last two episodes will probably be crazy
I'm with Sheera on this, Tommy could have told Joe he was just moving on and was going to be safe and he wouldn't hear from him for a while, Joel would have just let him be. Part of what was driving them on this trip was Joel thinking something was wrong Tommy. Tess would not have gotten bit imo.
But that's what I love about the series, the conversations it can bring and different viewpoints 🙂
i was expecting Sheera to explain about the diva cup but even Sheera didn’t know what it’s for 😂 it’s a reusable menstrual cup for periods. very useful for swimming, long days out, zombie apocalypse, etc as opposed to tampons and pads which are scarce during such times
Along with the jokes and the chemistry you three have with each other, another one of my favorite things about your reactions is when opinions differ and you guys not only discuss these amongst yourselves but you hear each other out. 💯

It's just tragic when a unique take on a zombie game receives good reviews up to this day, then flips it over as a typical revenge story in Part 2 and makes it so bad that the whole fanbase was divided into half.
I understand what you're saying, but I think it's easier to heal a stab wound than an iron, more because of Ellie's care, it's more exciting in the game, but it makes much more sense in the series.
The stab wound is fine, im just disappointed with the raiders scene because it lasted 2 seconds.
Roshi isn't upset with the stab wound, it's the way the scene was executed. it practically had no build up. showing a few men walking around >> having one of them stab Joel >> Joel knocks out from it. on paper it sounds fine. you can stretch out the gameplay in the game after all. but that kind of stretched out build up doesn't work for TV, which is why it's important to strike a good balance between drama and action. if there's little/too much of either, it'll feel off.
Roshi is not expecting a 1:1 recreation. but it would be awesome if they put more effort with conflicts. there's certain things that wouldn't feel "right" in a TV show, compared to a game. but they proved that it can work if you move the script around a little, and envision the source material in a different way. joel getting stabbed by one man during the last few minutes of an episode is terrible balance. that's not how you do action lol imagine if they sped through Tess's infection by removing the build up. it's better to see people struggle and fight before something heavy happens.
but that's how i feel at least. the stab wound is fine in itself, but the show just breezes over it. like it just "happened" and that's so disappointing. i relate to Roshi trying to find the right words to explain lol. took him a minute to get his thoughts out.
@@ilay_ux Yeah, I also find that when you’re actually properly critiquing similar scenes, other people will sort use the “it wouldn’t have worked in the game anyway” point. That sentiment is fine when someone is nitpicking things but it sucks that some people use it to disparage the game now.
@@REChronic54 exactly. im also against that way of thinking. you always hear the same arguments as well, things have to "make more sense than the game" for it to be better, somehow. quite lame in my opinion. people don't wanna suspend their disbelief for an impressive looking scenario, i guess. i'd take a well crafted scene over a rushjob ANY day. the game laid fantastic groundwork for them to work with, so it's unfortunate that they dropped the ball here and went with anticlimatic direction..
it doesnt have to be 1:1 with the game, show us something memorable fit for a different medium. they proved it already so i hope they continue that streak with the upcoming episodes!
@@ilay_uxyou’re definitely spot on. I love how in depth they’re getting with the emotions of all these characters but I feel like its somehow taking away from the physicality of this world. That whole scene shouldve been a shootout THEN joel is stabbed. If anyone wants to bring up the fact of saving bullets, they definitely couldve implemented some looting/ or even joel finding rounds off of the raiders
I’m ok with this ending, definitely feels like the main focus of this episode was the Joel and Ellie relationship, and it makes sense with them wanting to end this episode on that scene. But yeah Joel falling 2 stories and getting a rusty pipe through the stomach was not a, “oh you’ll be fine with a few bandages and some antibiotics” kinda injury. It was cooler though. But if countless book adaptations have taught me anything, both mediums have their moments.
This episode was so emotional beautiful the Bond between them i did have cry pedro was amazing here , i love how they are more focused on the humanity side not just horror thing side , that a menstrual cup you fold it and put it inside like a tampon when it get full you remove it wash it and put it again that's why she said gross
100% agree with Roshi's sentiments about the last bit of this episode 👏🏼👏🏼
They went crazy fast in this ep I was like THEY'VE ALREADY MET TOMMY?! and then I was like THEY'RE ALREADY AT THE UNIVERSITY?!
As a brother this whole episode had me in my feels, couldn't imagine being separated from him for so long especially during an apocalypse. Chokes me up just thinking about it. I would travel to the ends of the earth for him.
Lupa and the snacks killed me out of the gate. I love that man. Don't tempt me, I'll shoot my shot.
Love you guys and thank you for all you do. This show is helping me because I'm too much of a scaredy cat to play the game.
I understand where Roshi is coming from, the first two episodes gave us a lot of the action from the game and then it slowly died down. I see the route the creators are taking, and it is a bit saddening that we dodnt get certain set pieces from the game. But at the end of the day its all opinions people. We can enjoy yhe show and have opinions at the same time
Lupa snacking got me rolling 😭
Its so Nice to see Tara from True Blood being played as Maria. (Top Vampire show)🤗
You're totally right. It needed the action scene. It was supposed to feel like Joel's last stand to survive and keep Ellie alive.
They probably thought Ellie and Joel taking out over 40-50 of the raiders (which is the whole point of them chasing them) would be unbelievable
@@TheBlackKakashi That's just something you needed to suspend your disbelief for in the game in order to have gameplay, 55 year old local man Joel taking on a group of 15 24 year old men with his bare hands never made any sense. I do wish they had more of a scrap here though, then after him and Ellie are tired from killing a handful dude with the bat comes out and it plays out how it did.
@@TheBlackKakashi The number of raiders doesn't matter. They could've even still used the same 4 dudes who rolled up on them this episode. But an extended action/suspense sequence dedicated to their escape would've definitely had more impact. It was way too rushed here.
Dunno man, in the game you kill 300 people every level. Here doesn't really matter, also the show is more about man vs fungus (aka if you succeed in avoid the fungus, you live)
@@TheBlackKakashithey still could’ve adapted it into the show but not with 50 people lol
They could’ve done it with 2-5 people.
Joel deaf in one of his ear thats why he didn't hear that one guy sneaking .
Great reaction! Keep in mind that this whole journey started because Tommy would not answer the radio. Joel travelled across the country, had multiple situations where he almost died and lost Tess. Only to find out that his brother basically abandoned him to stay in this place without even thinking of letting him know.
I think Joel has every right to be pissed at his brother.
Them skipping through the fight we had in the game at the university makes me wonder how they’re gonna do David later on.
The way they're building up Joel being able to take action for the finale
I agree with Roshi. I feel Joel getting injured was too quick.
editing has me SCREAMING!!
The editor never fails to make me laugh
how he was injured was fine with me, but it should have been like the game where ellie has to shoot her way out while assisting joel. happened too fast and the ending didn’t have the same impact in the game.
having 2 survivors scape the docens of armed enemies like in the game wouldn't really aid the effort the show puts in to seem grounded
@@whereDoCarrotsComeFrom it doesn’t have to be dozens, at least 2-4 people. i just would have liked to see ellie have to shoot some people and also linger on joel being hurt. seeing joel struggle to walk to the exit and him falling over really set in the emotion for me. just happened too fast and didn’t allow tension to build as much imo. still great episode tho.
@@whereDoCarrotsComeFrom And yet that's exactly what they did for the last episode. Also if we wanna talk about realism, how about the fact that 4 raiders pull up on a university without a single firearm on any of them (or at least none of them cared to pull it out on the two as they were escaping on horse). Or the fact that a single guy managed to sneak up on Joel and Ellie near the horse even though there was next to no cover nearby for them to sneak out from, and Ellie seemed to be looking behind Joel the entire time.
At the end of the day, it's not that they needed to make the scene as seemingly impossible to survive as they made it in the game, but there was so much more they could have done with the entire university section. In the game the university is one of the most iconic moments of the game, where it feels like a desperate and almost hopeless slog to escape, and ends in the climatic moment where you just lose hope for their situation. It marks the drastic tone shift for the next arc of the game, and I think it's such a shame that they threw all of it out for the show, and instead made the university painless to navigate through, with the climatic moment being more of an anticlimactic afterthought.
Thx for keepin me up-to-date. I can't afford HBO rn LUL
They really showin the deeper emotions for Joel and it’s helpin build to what’s coming. Shows been great, the falling off the 2nd floor part woulda been dope to see tho
All the set ups for Part 2 really took me off guard and I appreciated so much. Loved this episode
At least you can enjoy it, me personally it has me worried because I was disappointed with Part 2's story, but the set ups were definitely impressive
@@elharvey5032 agreed
I feel the show needed to be 3 or 4 episodes longer to tell the story better with more action. We didn't get many moments of Joel and Ellie fighting infected on their journey to find Tommy. But overall the show has done a great job with set design and it must be pretty expensive so I don't really blame them
9:51 Not the horse sound Lupa made from MHA 😭😭🤣🤣💀
Yooo Roshi's take at the end, I felt it in my soul lmao
22:10 I knew some stuff like this would happen when one of the most iconic parts of the game in my opinion was omitted for what we got in episode 3 I get it wanted to wait to showcase the bloater in episode 5 but I knew about the school section before ever even playing the game which I just beat last year for the first time
I loved they introduced elements of Part 2 in this episode like Maria, Dina and the town of Jackson. The scene with Joel teaching Ellie how to use the sniper rifle was really heartwarming.
I get what you're saying on the uni bit definitely. However I think it's worth sacrificing for time AND the spectacle thats gonna be involved during the Ellie fight in the pub. Not to mention the final episode is all that AND next episode is left behind so I feel like it was definitely a matter of "we have more important emotional beats that DO involve action that we need to pull off than the university fight"
the way Lupa looked for help on what contraceptive means and none of you helped him XD im crying
"Ellie... you gotta... improvise..." hahaha!!
One of the rare moments when the show did a better job about the character being vulnerable... Man pedro Pascal killed it 🔥
one thing to point out, you can really see the PTSD coming out of Joel when he finally is safe in the settlement and has to "stop". you can see both Joel AND Ellie had their issues already popping up.
like Joel getting those moments when he starts gasping for air ( what i think could be some sort of panick attack) and him seeing flashbacks of his daughter he lost YEARS ago. when Joel was walking through the town at night alone he was... constantly in his thoughts about his daughter. then when his walking up the stairs in the house very slowly... touching things as if his in a spaceship. as if scared. and when his opening up to his brother he explains he sees nightmares he cant even remember. the guilt the pain of the loss of losing his daughter. Joel most likely has not processed any of these since he was constantly on survival mode.
and Ellie too, seeing how the other kids were living and comparing it to the life shes had. and finally realising just how messed up it all was for her compared to these kids who never saw struggle.
Ellie unlike the other kids was never watching the movie in the theatre. she was constantly looking around reading people. nervous, jumpy. as if looking for threats. she or Joel cant relax like the others because their mind is a warzone.
and when they both finally can stop for a moment, with no threats around to distract them they finally let out how they feel to each other at the room they meet in. they start to crack a little,. its great detail but i have seen this and experienced this myself. when you go through enough trauma its only when you finally STOP that your mental health issues wich your traumas caused you, start. wich is why on the road surrounded by constant threats Ellie and Joel were fine mentally per say, but here in the settlement we see a side of Joel we never saw before. we see him cry. its only when he was forced to stop and just BE, that we really see just how broken both Joel and Ellie are. we see this with war veterans as well for example, when they come home from war they can never get used to "normal" again. something we see with both Joel and Ellie. and when Joel was walking through the town, he was... constantly in his thoughts about his daughter. then when his walking up the stairs is when i noticed these people are not used to normal. and it will take them a LONG time to heal and maybe find a bit of peace inside their minds. i myself have all my childhood traumas torturing me now 12 years later. i almost killed myself last night i cant take it my head is so loud even though my surroundings are silent. i love this show and its realistic attention to realistic details. this episode made me cry so much
I love the fact joel showed his emotions. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a man represented like this. Strong man, with emotions still!! Love it, appreciate seeing it on screen. It’s okay for men to cry, my mamma told me, she never lies!!!!! Yet to catch her lying
I do prefer this more believably survivable wound but agree that the ending felt a little rushed and could've been a bit more intense, especially since David really wants revenge against Joel cause he killed a lot of his men but here it was just the 1, I still trust they'll make it work though.
With how they’ve changed things they might change David’s motivation or have something happen later
@@clover2739 surely
I do believe they'll make it work, just like how they tweak Henry's motivation and make it better

Monster Energy is an energy drink that was introduced on April 18th, 2002.

Every episode just keeps getting better and better
That thing Ellie has was a diva cup for her menstrual cycle. Tampons aren't readily available and the cups are reusable.
FYI, Monster Energy drinks came on market in April 2002... so it did exist before the infection began 👍
I figured they were going to do it like this for this episode. In the game there weren’t many clickers or infected roaming around except when you’re in the building exploring. They don’t focus much of the exploring which I understand and don’t mind.
wyoming dude here! that color you like is just what it is in winter, large blizzards and ice crystals hang in the air and create that affect for days. its very real.
I can’t wait to get to know Shimmer more. That horse is the bomb! 🔥🔥
I agree, although I didn't mind it, I thought the way joel was impaled and how the entire situation played out in the game was handled better and really made you feel anxious to get joel the hell out of there. For example while Joel was impaled, you didn't know how close or far the enemy was to zoning in on your location, which gave off a strong sense of urgency than how fast it happened in the show where it sort of just happened and they just rode off with no real struggle but I get it was done to save time in terms of the show.
I agree with you, Roshi. I was anxiously waiting for that whole hospital fight sequence, including the fall. But, the fresh viewers wouldn’t believe all that, because HBO Joel ain’t got no health kits. Lol. Love you guys!
according to the podcast the girl watching ellie was Dina from pt2. Also i think that the horse at 9:50 is Ellies horse form pt2 that she rides trying to get to jackson
2:02 it really goes well with his shirt.
that inside the house they were staying on were exact same interior as joel and sarah's house in the game
Yall have the coldest 🥶🥶🥶 intro on yt!!! 💯🔥
I'm very interested in seeing what they'll do in the next episode, since *spoilers for a part of the game that has been covered* Tommy doesn't live there, but in the dam, and the town, with that diner, is just past the next section.
BRO THEY RECREATED THE SCENE, YESS WORD FOR WORD TOO
Let’s Go!!!!!! Been waiting on this
So, Monster energy drink was introduced in 2002, some good time before the outbreak apparently happened. So Joel could have had either Red Bull or Monster to help keep him up 😂 Not sure if those drinks would be good after 20 years though…
Confirmed: Lupa doesn't use protection. Raw dogs all his girls. Pimpin
it's a small detail, but when ellie and joel are camping, joel mentions how he would raise sheep if he could and in the second game, ellie later had sheep on the farm.
Lupa’s horse sound will never not be funny to me, especially when it comes out of nowhere lmao

The diva cup is a reusable menstrual cup (dump & boil to sanitize) that lasts for upto 10 yrs so in an apocalypse it's SO SO SO precious when pads/tampons are single use + hard to come by.
man mt dew amp was the only thing that got me through my senior year in high school 😂 it was the beginning of my caffeine addiction. but yeah there weren’t many energy drinks available in ‘03, def nothing like today.
wow the teasers to the second game! ellie meeting what will eventually be her horse, plus i have a good feeling the girl with the braid who ellie yelled at was probably dina
I totally agree with Roshi, the university level was my favourite part in the game because all the gun fights against the raiders and infected and even fight two Bloaters in the dorms was very thrilling. I found it a bit disappointing to have them cut it short, But it is what it is.
12:26 it's a menstr*ual cup, they are a recent thing so don't really know how they are still around considered the timeline, but anyways lol - Lupa killed me "contractor" yeeeeeah 😂😂
Fun fact I heard that the outro song is a cover of the outro song we heard at the end of episode 1 but this one is sung by creator Craig Mazin's daughter
This whole episode showed how close Ellie and Joel got, Joel didnt want to lose her like did Sara. He caught the first panic attack when he thought his bro might have been dead, because it was his fault he left, The second one almost came when again he couldnt do anything to save Ellie when the dog was checking her, the one after arguing with Tommy was cause out of a bit of frustration and jealousy that Tommy was gonna be a dad and after he "saw" his daughter, him remembering his daughter was him seeing Ellie as his daughter and didn't want to lose her since he is really getting attached to her and seems to love that feeling of being a dad again, so I understood why he was being a dick in that part in the room.
The plastic cup at @12:24 is called a menstrual cup. Does the same job as a napkin, but it's reusable.
Pretty good practical solution for red days in the time of apocalypse. But I don't know if it existed before 2003. A subtle product placement perhaps?
100% agree with Roshi, don’t be afraid to show unrealistic gun fights, I felt that how Joe got injured in the game was so much more impactful.
There have been energy drinks before even Red Bull. There's one called Bacchus D that was almost the same size as 5 Hour Energy. Used to drink that as a kid in the 90s. It's pretty much what Red Bull tastes like.
Yo how long have you been uploading at 1440p? Shit looking sharp!
Also i'm surprised sheera doesn't know what ellie was holding, it's not a contraceptive, it's a menstrual cup, you fold it stick it up your stuff, it unfolds and collects period blood, kinda like a tampon, i'm a dude and i know this, learned it in sex ed thousands of years ago lol.
This episode had some great and tough conversations. It really showed the toll on Joel and Ellie, compared to most of the other characters.
Yall, Lupa reaction on every episode is GOLD!!!!
19:45 “it’s like voldemort” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i agree with roshi for this one, that fight was so fast and non-existent, like joel doesn't need to get stabbed through with the rebar but they could've still had him tackle the dude and fall a little ways onto a branch or something so we could get the scene where ellie has to help take out the raiders and drag joel out lmao
Absolutely agree about the end. I really wanted to see that struggle of joel protecting ellie after getting hurt, it had more stakes that way. They really could've splurged cause this episode was so nearly perfect until that part.
I was like there aint no way hes already dead... i thought this man was the main character...
