As someone who’s played basically every Mario game the amount of references they put in there is insane and I loved the rivalry between Mario and dk

What irks me most about some of the critic reviews is how they refer to game references as “easter eggs”

Even if Luigi took the role of kidnapped princess, he still had the best character development in the whole movie.
He didn’t really have “development,” he kinda kept his quirk of being stronger and braver with his brother, which I still agree is awesome
Well i'd say he was the same as before but making it that he got kidnapped was a good choice
idk, I felt like he was barely in the movie at all, def didnt get enough time
I wish they would have introduced Luigi's development in the form of Luigi's mansion. That would have been a good way for Luigi to leave his fears behind and have some development.

Honestly, the fact this movie was so simple gives it INSANE potential for sequels. The Mario universe is absolutely amazing to work with. As a Mario fan I was pleasantly surprised by this. I feel like it hit all the right notes with being a Mario adaptation.
if they tightened the story writing they will be swimming with billions every movie

Yeah, it's in some of the more recent Mario games. Super Mario 3D World had it, for instance, as did New Super MArio Bros Wii and Wii U.
My friend and i talked about this: Danny Devito would make a PERFECT wario. Just look up that scene of him scamming in matilda, and you can just hear the wario. On top of that, get jeff goldblum for waluigi. They could even make a scene referencing jurassic park by having waluigi say "life finds a way" while planting petey piranha
Personally, I think Steve Buscemi would make a great Waluigi, but I agree that Danny DeVito as Wario is a great choice!

Man, Bowser fought DK + Peach, took a beating from 2 super powered, star boosted people and was still fine. Dude's a straight up menace.
This movie is so awesome. Just pure, unadulterated fun. My favorite part was Jack Black's incredible performance and banger song, "Peaches". I also love the amazing animation, awesome references, colorful action, and great music and humor. Definitely the best film in Illumination's library apart from _Despicable Me._
Peaches is honestly funny at first, but thanks to children and constant playings of it it really got annoying, like I really like it but oversaturation kinda ruined it

This movie was better than I expected, I didn't know what to expect but I truly enjoyed it lol.
This movie could do anything it wanted because Mario is SO simple with its story you can do whatever. And BOY did they fulfill that. You just won’t get much plot. Wouldn’t mind sequels for this if they keep putting in this kind of effort.

35:25 - That actually does work, at least in New Super Mario Bros series. If a person with a star powerup picks up or gets picked up by another player, the star powerup gets shared between the two players. So it's safe to assume that multiple people can grab the same star and both get the ability.

They had King Boo at the wedding, so it'd be easy to set up a Luigi's Mansion sequel/spin-off. It actually seems pretty likely considering Luigi wasn't a big focus in this movie and it would be an easy setup for his character development.
The only thing I'm not entirely sure about is what they're setting up with the Yoshi Egg. I would think something like Super Mario World, but I don't know what they'd really be able to do with that plot-wise. I guess the Koopalings could attack the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Bowser and kidnap Peach in the process, but I don't really know where it would really go from there. Would probably also make more sense to come after a Luigi's Mansion spinoff, if it's going to be both brothers trying to defeat Bowser.
Also I'd really want a Super Mario Sunshine movie at some point, probably more than a Galaxy movie.

From what I have read Nintendo will create a shared universe similar to MCU with main characters like Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Link from Zelda, and Samus from Metroid. Then all together in Super Smash Bros the movie to something similar to Avengers.

The movie takes place in 2021 or after. One of the pipes on top of their plumbing van was manufactured at the beginning of 2021. That’s why Luigi has a smartphone.

I had an idea for a SSB universe after I saw this movie. Basically, the original characters of the franchise first collide, trying to reshape reality. Mario, Luigi, DK accounted for. Yoshi is coming. Now all we need is a modernized Hyrule as the setting, Shonen-style teen Link, Zelda - AKA Samus Aran - and Fox McCloud dogfights over the “Triforce”. They crash in Hyrule while the Mario crew visits. Everybody gets into a brawl over what turns out to be Kirby. Then Sonic crew shows up, looking for the Chaos Emerald. All this leads to Ganon being unleashed from the Master Emerald. Oh, and a stray Pikachu gets lost in the mix. Your thoughts…

My kid saw this twice, it was amazing - like the only family movie out.
Yes! They saw this masterpiece. It was a fun prequel to the franchise, I can tell they had fun making it. I loved the reimaginings of classic tunes and the take on characters, the animation was great too. I’m happy Lupa has seen it already!

I love thé callbacks, it’s a rlly rewarding thing for long time fans, the music, luigi and the haunted mansion, the king bomb dude from SM 64, rainbow road. Just a whole lot. 10/10. Maybe not the best movie ever but for what it is, it’s probably the best it could be.

Oh hell yeah. I've been wondering when you guys was gonna react to this. This movie had everything I could want in a movie like this. I had a blast watching it from beginning to end.
The musical score was one of the highlights for me. Not only hearing those familiar sound effects but also have such a lushful and beautiful orchestral sound was the icing on the cake for me. In fact, the whole soundtrack was a big old easter egg if there ever was one lol. Gave me chills. I am still in awe of the visuals and cinematography. I also like that it was not afraid to go kind of dark. It even had some reflective moments too. Reminded me of my childhood man. My only real issue is not seeing Luigi enough. I'm so excited for the possibilities of this universe now.
This movie felt like it was made by people who loved Mario and had a great time making this movie, so much love put into it.
I watched this in 4DX, omg… it was fun af, you got the seats moving like a rollercoaster, mist coming in from the mansion scene. Even pushing flower smells in whenever a flower was on screen. Heck I even got sprayed with water.
I remember looking at this and it was too late to watch and I was like it's defo gonna get taken down and it did so many reactors weren't able to upload it
This movie was my first movie going to theatres to watch since I moved to Florida. Great freakin’ movie!

When I tell you, it was such a cute and whole movie, it was very good that my mom (who I forced to watch it with me) ended up loving it. Normally she'll fall asleep to these kinds of stuff but she was up and asking questions xD
