Anybody want some venison?
No
Nahhhh
no wayyyyy
yes with extra human nails.
Not venison. Venni's son💀
Am I the only one that thinks the 4 guys going out for 'supplies' also might have meant 'kill anyone you run into for meat,' which is why they attacked Joel and Ellie?
"Deer" was clearly code for people.
@@BillH2949 holy shit
That's what they meant when he said they saw a couple of deer.
@@Tsai_tama oh my gad
Oh shit... You right, I think they did mean General supplies but people meat was definitely on the list... The hostility makes sense now
The several bodies hanging in that building also lends credence to this. They're not new to being cannibals.
Bella Ramsey is consistently surprising me with her authentic reactions. Her scream when Henry shot himself, the sound she made trying to rub the bite off her arm in the mall, her shrieks as she killed David-phenomenal acting.
she needs to win all the awards, I am blown out by her.
that scream when she got bit in the mall was so crazy
She killed that cage line bro
I just realize David mate the grieving daughter eat her own dad without her knowing.
That’s beyond fuck up!
"There are worst things out there, than infected".
After slapping her in front of everyone, poor girl.
Not only that, but the mom helped prepare the meal without knowing
Bro you look like david lmao
That's pure evil and sick 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮 poor girl
I feel like this episode made Ellie understand why Joel was so paranoid of being outside. Why he would spend sleepless nights watching guard for them. Joel knew there were ppl like this waiting for the perfect moment to sneak up on them. Ellie would poke fun at him but I feel after this episode, she understands that too.
I remember a specific moment when Ellie asks if people would kill them and Joel says something along the lines of “they would have worse in mind”. You can see she doesn’t really understand what he means, but after this episode she definitely does…
@@Yamismol exactly
Troy Baker is not just the vocal, it's also the acting. It's basically Joel
*Baker
@@saucy3639 my bad it's my phone 😅
The funny thing is i love Pedro Pascal as Joel but when i see Troy Baker he could have played Joel honestly
@@OhyeahMrKrabz I also love Pedro Pascal. It's 2 similar version with differences but both are great
@@OhyeahMrKrabz He could have, but that would be the least interesting way. Just a copy instead of a new interpretation and adaptation. Pedro is the right decision for the show.
Joel calling Ellie "baby girl" like he called his daughter in episode 1 was so sweet... he's decided to open his heart to unconditional love again. I can't believe they actually managed to make
David even more creepier in live action
Fr. I didn’t think it was possible to make David more of a creep, but they somehow did it. Props to them for being so faithful to the games, but also fleshing out the characters (including the villains) more.
I thought David's voice was more creepier in the game but thats just me
@@OhyeahMrKrabz I think the voice was creepier in the game but the way he acted in the show was much creepier than the way he acted in the game.
Gonna be honest I think it's because the actor LOOKS like a creep. The game David looks like a regular hungry dude. Did you watch the behind the scenes at the end? Bro is out of character and still looks and talks like a creep.
@@Anurahm_Kycor i honestly feel bad for him. He knows how he looks, and no matter what he does will always look like a creep :(
Venison = Human Male
Elk = Human Female
Rabbit = Human Child
James at the beginning: "They spotted some *DEER* a couple miles east"
Who did they encounter a couple miles east just a couple episodes ago? Ellie and Joel...
Once you rewatch this episode knowing their little "code" it becomes so much creepier.
They speak in code so often David even had to reassure James that he wasn't speaking in code when he told him to go get the medicine for Ellie.
My god that is so bone chilling but you are so right. That makes me so angry but shocked as well. 😮
omfg...
Seriously??? Damn
And keep in mind that there is food. Ellie went out and already found a rabbit and a deer in the woods.
The food situation is not as severe as they make it sound.
@@itsyaboy9829 Oh damn I hadn't noticed that. David truly is a sadist
He mentioned that he was teacher and that his students where around Ellie’s age, it is so horrifying to think how many other kids he hurt. This episode was so genuinely hard to watch as someone who has trauma. The actors did such a phenomenal job, those terrified screams and that anger from Ellie felt so real.
The “I don’t want your old pipe, sir” and the picture of an old pipe took me out 😂
🤣🤣🤣
The moment they started making shots focused on the meat earlier in the episode I knew what time it was
Dinner time?
@@lynxfresh5214 Dinner time with the homie
the whole time i was stressed david was tryna fuck Ellie i didint even notice that
@@lynxfresh5214 venision time :)
as soon as ellie went out to hunt and found that deer i was like shit i know what’s gonna happen 😭😭
Can I just say that Bella Ramsey’s performance was absolute perfection because those scenes with David really made me feel the fear and tension for her. Hope she wins an Emmy because she ate this episode to the tee!
And to those wondering, it’s confirmed that David’s right hand man; James, is Joel’s literal actor from the games (Troy Baker)!
Umm actually no it wasn't she was terrible. She was never once believable as a character, all i saw was an actor trying way too hard and it came across as shallow. If her acting was "perfection" for you then maybe you need to watch some more movies or tv shows that aren't pandering to a mass audience of people like yourself.
You hope Bella wins an Emmy? Nah she should win 10 Emmys
@@OhyeahMrKrabz as a matter fact, every award lol
Thought it was very weak and hammy. Her delivery of lines from the game like the "Buddy boy" line when she meets David didn't land.
@@splinter360 It's a child acting tough while she's scared, she's gonna try and say stuff that she thinks are intimidating when they aren't.
just realised that when the people from the community went scavaging, they didn't attack Joel and Ellie by mistake, lol they were trying to get them back to eat them I guess now... gross 🤯 🤯
yeah 100% they were looking for food and Joel looked like a snack 😋😋🤣🤣
@@deathsaidhello Cant blame them Pedro Pascal in them jeans mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
@@IIReckllessII 🤣
I wonder if James (Troy Baker's character), wanted to kill Ellie not out of hate but mercy. It's possible that he knew the real reason David (the "pastor") wanted to spare her. Hence James trying to persuade David with logical arguments to hide his motive (since they're all scared of him). This would explain why it took so long for James to pull the trigger.
As nice as that is, he seemed very angry that she killed his buddy so maybe both?
@@TheSuperNats I thought perhaps he might have played up his anger? I'm just theorising here though ofc. Would be nice to think the OG Joel had better intentions 😅
bella ramsey absolutely crushed it this episode!!! what a phenomenal actor

"It's okay, I believe him."
One of the most badass lines ever
The poetic irony of the first person Ellie killing on-screen being OG Joel.
Bella Ramsey is just a phenomenal actress. I have no doubt she'll do season 2 Ellie justice. She's understands how to play a character with a violent heart. And that's what you need.
I thought s2 was a direct follow up of the second game I have no idea how they are gonna make Bella look older unless they are gonna pull a house of the dragon and have a current ellie (bella) and a more aged ellie as another actor
Season 2 Bella is gonna go so ham as Ellie
@@theuprising2216 bella is confirmed to play season 2 ellie so they’ll probably age her up with makeup
@@kiasms22 They might still bring a new Ellie actress and keep Bella for the flashbacks
@@faroukaudu7305 I don’t think so. Like the person above said bella is the same age as ellie in tlou part 2 she just looks a bit younger. all they have to do it age her up with makeup. and who knows when they’ll start filming season 2, bella will grow more and look older anyway
Favorite little touch in this episode: Dude says the meat is "...Venison" to the cooks, making the audience think "Okay, don't know why he took that long to say that but I guess David and James brought the deer back, makes sense" and a minute later, we see them walk in with the deer. Great way of telling us something much darker is happening without coming out and saying it until later.
I love how gamers saying they prefer joel and ellie hugging in the middle of a burning house cause its more "impactful". Yeah the logs falling on their heads is impactful alright😂
Yeah I don't get that at all. Like, maybe it's because I haven't played the game, but I don't see how that would have changed anything
i swear to god, they're so annoying
@@KimandKamJam its so much meaninful in the game. especially considering how the 2nd game goes. joel hugs her and stops her from just completely losing herself comforting her right after. in this joel just sneaks up behind her which despite the scene being great, why tf did joel just run up on her💀
@@shosh5806 how did he run up on her lmao
when they were in the middle of the house, i got the impression that joel still "saved" her even though she saved herself. when they were outside, it really showed that ellie had to survive by herself.
that hisoka shirt while watching this ep is insane 💀😭
Saw someone on Twitter say "a pedophilic priest? they're really aiming for realism in the show!" i was dead lmfaooo 💀💀💀
I still remember the first time I played the game 10 years ago and I immediately knew something was off with David. Maybe Nolan North was too good at doing a creep's voice lol. I've played TLOU at least 5 times and I know that game from the back of my hand and David still creeps me out, his portrayal here in the show was no different.
Also, he used to be a math teacher! So... just creepy all around, my god.
It's always the men of God...
Except, hes not a priest. Just a man leading a cult
@@monalicee He calls himself a preacher. But you know what they meant when calling him a “priest” lol - close enough! (this person was strictly talking about the show version, btw)

They brough in the deer after he responded "venison." 😬
That Geico edit at 13:42 has me on the floor lmao
Sneak attack from the editor. I knew he couldn’t let that slip by
that shit just hit me like a truck xD
Came here to say just this lol 10/10 edit
So while I prefer the way Joel and Ellie reunited in the game, I still loved this rendition of it. The added details to David made him even more of a horrifying character. The fact that he was a teacher before the apocalypse just makes it way more fucked, and the detail of him reaching for his pants being why Ellie had the opening to grab the cleaver was wild.
Same, I also prefer their reunion in the game. I like it because it makes the scene more dramatic. However, realistically it doesn't make sense for them to reunite and have their moment while they're inside the burning house to inhale all the smoke and when anything could've dropped on them at any moment. Ellie could've killed (or wounded) Joel at the heat of her rage when he snuck up to her like that. Plus, how would've Joel got in? How would've Joel run up to her when all the doors were locked and David had the keys.
The girl at the beginning asking if they can bury her father has a much different connotation by the end
They did not disappoint with the 'baby girl' moment. They did a great job creating a different version of David but just as creepy and sadistic.
Yes the other eps were great but this one is the best of them all everything was perfect and that baby girl in the end was so freaking touching so warm so loving, what Ellie did in the end was so satisfying ( oh how i wish I was able to do that too )
What an episode David was creppy as fuck and Ellie showed off her badassery
the "you so hungry for vengeance". omg. they were going to eat joel.
Just a correction about the torture scene, it wasn't about him, Joel didn't give a shit they attacked him. He was pissed they messed with Ellie.
I swear, this series keeps improving with each episode. And Bella Ramsey continues to excel. Really hope she wins an Emmy for this performance because she's been incredible.
It must have been crazy for Troy to point a gun at Ellie after all these years! Making him kill Callus was also crazy! Some people say they wish he was in that torture scene with Joel so we could get Joel vs Joel, but imo seeing Ellie killing him was much cooler to see lol
Ellie used her biological advantages to get the better of him. She can move quieter and hide more effectively. SHE did a sneak attack critical to even the playing field for the confrontation.
Might very well be my favorite episode of the series. Bella's performance was spectacular. Troy Baker was such a damn treat. David was perfectly casted. Pedro was so frightening as Joel. It was absolutely outstanding.
Man I was waiting for this, the end when Joel calls her baby girl got me yo….
The fact that he used to be a teacher before the apocalypse makes my skin crawl
And let me guess ...
You start to think about all of your school teachers. Right?
13:16 Sheera's face here should be an automatic meme, lol the disgust is real loool 😂 ♥
I was wondering how dark they were gonna make the *DARKEST* part of the game. And yeah, they did not hold back. They made David in his last minutes even more disturbing than the game made him. And when David tells Ellie that she has a violent heart he had NOOOO idea. I would honestly put her near the top of the list of the deadliest people in tv or video games. When she is chopping the hell out of David it is cathartic at first but then you see the tragedy because Ellie needed to tap into all of the darkness and violence in her heart to survive. And then we get the scene of Joel hugging Ellie and calling her baby girl😭😭😭.
Also I kinda wished that Troy Baker (the original actor who played Joel in the game) was cast as someone far more important than James. Still he was amazing and he had an awesome death scene, and it was darkly funny that video game Joel was killed by tv Ellie. Also wish that they gave Ellie her trademark bow and arrow, but hopefully we get that in Part 2.
7:05 Mangekyo Sheera back at it again!! 😂😂 like seriously, no matter what show they are watching....Sheera ALWAYS manages to pull out the wildest but most accurate predictions
i can’t get over bella’s acting in this episode. she’s AMAZING. deserves a emmy
I knew they were saving a lot of the violence for these last couple of eps so they would be more impactful, and god damn I'm so glad they did. Amazing 👏
This episode was amazing, bella rampsey is a fantastic actress, the guy playing David is alsso great. Such great episode
The thing with the girl in the intro is we don't know what the other 3 survivors told her because they didn't appear until after Joel killed the dude. The only ones that know it was self defense are Joel and Ellie.
Also the dude probably attacked Joel to get his horse since they were all starving anyway.
Or probably attack them so he can have not only the horse but also a full grown man and a teenage girl nobody knows about. Meat for weeks 🤢
Exactly she’s a teenage girl. If Ellie found out that Joel was killed, even if they were defending themselves and Ellie wanted all of them that killed joel dead (😉) then people would be on Ellie’s side on that. I don’t get why people get mad at the young girl for having that reaction to her father being killed, expecting her to know what happened and what’s going on. I think it’s interesting because it just confirms what the last of us about, that’s the big theme of it based off of perspective
@@clover2739 I completely agree. It has been said over and over that Joel and Tommy k word a lot of people to survive and no one is mad at them because « you gotta do what you gotta do to survive ». But if anyone did that to them we’d be pissed because they’re our babies. And that girl is fed lies (probably don’t know she was eating her own father’s flesh too) about how and why he died, so I completely understand her sorrow and why she wants revenge.
@@darksistersdelight exactly! Like people excuse Joel and people associated with him even though we know they’ve done wrong. Problem tend to say ‘they were just doing what they have to’ that’s a teenage girl who lost ‘her Joel’ but instead she knew him her whole life and not a couple of months. Like I can already tell the next season for people who respond like that with how the girl reacted is going to have a hard time next season. Which is the point.
I’ve seen a couple of reactors who said the little girl deserved it when David smacked her… like maybe it’s just me because I know what the show is about but I genuinely can’t understand that. A teenage girl deserves to get backhanded by a grown man because she wants the people who killed her father dead? Like… the little girl hasn’t done anything bad. She doesn’t know what’s going on. Even so she just probably sees her dad as always someone who’s doing what they can to survive. Minus David (clearly) there’s not really strictly good or bad here.
Bruh that Geico line killed me! Dann near choked on my food 😂
6:43 Sheera like "Cold is cold" ....... if you know, you know 🤣
James trying to kill Ellie hits a little harder once you realize why David wanted to keep her around... Also amusing Ellie is the one to kill Troy Baker's character. Great episode. Great acting.
Joel sleeping is the Shack sleeping meme. Man they activated him.
24:16 that clicking noise was so impressive omg
"This is the way!" is HILARIOUS! MANDO JOEL!
I love the dynamic you guys have, every reaction I watch never fails to bring a smile to my face
My fav episode yet. That being said, as a fan of the game I wish we could see more infected. They deleted so much of that content after 2 amazing first episodes. We had like 3 scenes of infected in 8 episodes
I feel like “there are worse things than infected out there” is the theme of the show
21:42 I agree with Roshi. They could have done a better job of explaining and showing that girl's side and this whole group's side. To me the group just shows of a basic cult with a basic cult leader, or just faceless minions. Walking Dead did do a somewhat good job of showing both sides, despite what folks want to say sometimes, cause folks want to ignore the other side with the "no excuses" argument on everything, not related to the main characters.
They did good with the little amount of eps they have, TWD has like over a hundred
best episode in my opinion
everything was carefully placed and theories would confirm themselves slowly as you get more and more into the episode
so good
This episode was good, but the pacing did seem a lil fast. I would have liked to have seen the part where Ellie and David caught the hoard together, even if it was on a smaller scale, it just builds that bond more that makes the viewer as well as Ellie believe that ‘ok maybe this guy is trustworthy’ so that when the trauma comes round it hits harder as a viewer. Because in the game, where its a longer pacing, it has that time to cook, so to speak
was just rewatching yo reaction to this show and u uploaded .thank u
This episode was AMAZING! This is what good writing looks like. They make each part so similar to the game, and they try so hard to keep it loyal to the fans while adding that extra something.
Thankyou for adding the "ah-hah" sound for the snow bunny, that was all I could hear and think of during the hunting scene lol
Ain’t no way this man said “we’ll leave you for later”😂 15:58

Underrated moment in this reaction “hold l2 and press x”
That wake up dead comment had me absolutely dying for some reason OMFG. Glad you guys felt that them attempting to kill Ellie was out of mercy- I felt like they knew what he did and just didn't want him to get another little girl. You can tell they don't fw his behavior. David was waaaaay creepier here than the game. They were so real for making Ellie unsure about the penicillin because she's never been in a functional hospital with IVs and stuff before and the way she tried to chase the rabbit was so childish. No adult would try to grab a rabbit.
