    Loving the great addition in having the old native & secluded couple be living still in all this terror world, now the show brought actual levity and not leave us in sorrow after. I would watch a show about them 2 in the cabin any day. Also love how they foreshadowed more aspects to the 2nd game and the chills are there for the 2nd season😅little Psycho😂

    • @fullmetalb5241
      @fullmetalb5241 Рік тому

      @@adityavenkatesh7260 Sure, a good majority of the scenes they gave him are not only the complete opposite of the character in the source material (which stands especially because of how well they have done the changes so far by fleshing things out not just making characters opposite) but also conflicts with what the show itself has told us about Joel.
      Joel has completely closed himself off from the horrible things that happened to him and even the "bad things" he has done or has to do. The show has shown that and characters have even mentioned it. Joel doesn't even begin to let himself start to be vulnerable until way later and because he closed himself off, he barely even knows how to be vulnerable once he starts trying to be. And we see that with him and ellie. We see that with him refusing Sarah's picture from Tommy in the coldest way possible in the game. And we see it in both the game and the show in his refusal to let the topic be brought up. Same with ellie talking about Tess. The scene of him breaking down to Tommy and the whole panic attack thing is the complete opposite of the character. The reference to what he did to protect Tommy and even what he did all the years to protect Tess IS JOEL. He IS terrified that he will lose people or won't be able to keep them safe. But he has focused that into being a cold person who will do whatever it takes, literally do terrible things, to make sure they stay safe. Having panic attacks and saying he is scared to even move when thinking he might lose someone is the complete opposite of that. It's the whole crux of the first games story and the catalyst for the entire second game. He is willing and capable of doing objectively dark things to protect someone he cares about. I completely understand what they are doing, but it just isn't as impactful and is the completely opposite of what the show even wanted to suggest.

    This is why this has been the only shooter video game that I like. There are so many video games out there where you can just turn off your feelings and become a killing machine, shooting and killing your way into getting better and better at such violence with no issues, but this game was different. It was created so that you feel remorse for killing, especially the NPCs you don't have to kill. (like most of the dogs) This world is still so far fetched but it to me allows me to feel the way I would feel if this were to really take place. For to many of us, life is worth something and to just kill with no remorse is not in any way desirable.

    Great episode, character work and world building.
    Joel: "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon."
    This sentence says so much. Joel already connects Ellie's dreams with his.
    Next episode Ashley Johnson will probably get an appearance in the Ellie Flashback.
    We probably already met Dina in this episode. This might be the one who yelled at Ellie during dinner and/or the one who sat next to her in the cinema.

    Honestly, I think both versions of the story are so great and for different reasons! It’s honestly beautiful to me that we can have 2 versions of a story that are so well told and artistically beautiful. Pedro’s version of Joel is much softer and more emotional than his game counterpart but it works so well for the show and how it sets up the end whereas in the game Joel is much more ruthless and brutal but it works better for the game since we control Joel and we all want to feel like the bad ass Joel is. Just a great job by this crew bringing this story to life but also making it their own while staying true to the spirit of the source material. It’s a wonder of an adaptation!

    Tommy has never needed Joel, it's Joel who always needs someone for him to play the role of protector. Tommy survived a tour in the war without Joel. He survived 20 years post outbreak often without Joel. He has managed to make a better life for himself without Joel. Joel is still a smuggler, drug dealer and muscle for hire. He had someone who loved him in Tess and could have had the kind of life that Bill and Frank had but wouldn't even try. He comes to Tommy and demands that he abandon his wife and new child to risk his life on something Joel wants to walk away from. Joel mocks Tommy and denigrates his wife for following the rules about the radio that protects everyone in town. Yet he had no problem blaming the demise of the people living in the underground settlement in KC on someone's inability to follow the rules. Tommy being Joel's brother is no reason for Tommy to break the rules about the radio, everyone in town may have someone somewhere they want to contact. Making even one exception one time could be the time that breaking the rule leads to disaster. As Ellie can attest to, the only rules that matter to Joel are his own. So far, his way has led to the death of everyone he's been trying to protect except Tommy who walked away from him. Joel is a wrecking ball in the lives of others. He is selfish which is why he sees Tommy's choices to help others and the Fireflies attempts to overthrow a dictatorship as delusions and wastes of time, because he doesn't believe in doing anything that doesn't result in a payment or direct benefit to himself. His ultimate act of selfishness which in theory affects everyone will be something that follows him into next season with tragic consequences.
