Same here. Even though my Pioneer AV receiver has A & B speaker outs, not unable to utilize his YT method without losing 5.1 surround. The receiver manual also states this. If you have satellite fronts, it would be ideal to use the above fail safe solution. Since the satellite speakers are not bass efficient, hooking it up this way will make the mids and highs more listenable by adjusting the subwoofer crossover pot.
brand new to this stuff trying to figure it all out. when you say you hooked it up to your front speakers, does that mean you ran your left/right literally to your front speakers and not the receiver at all?

@ozgurinsan yes you can the way I showed allows more control using A/B speaker terminals sub on B speaker terminals to allow to turn off and on ' thats all yeah you good to go
I case your subwoofer has no high-level input: SVS has an adapter that transforms speaker level into line level output. I just ordered it to connect an external amplifier to my home cinema receiver without pre-outs. Thats not its primarily intended use, but it should work.
Yes I know what you talking about with SVS we have had these same adapters in Car/truck audio for a long time ' but yeah thr SVS adapters looks like a nice adaptor '
Thank you for this step by step. It will be very useful. I only have a question for you. Will it bring any impedance issues? I mean, should i take it in consideration? Thank you TJ!!
You can tape into the speaker output from amp Left/right channel the sub only takes like 500mv of signal theirs no drivr power with like a passive speaker
Thanks a bunch, I’ve been looking for how to do this but all I see are written guides. I’m just wondering if this method leaves anything to be desired.
I have an old Simaudio Moon integrated amplifier, 2-channel, which only has one set of speaker outputs - only an "A" channel. Currently I have a pair of bookshelf type speakers, 8-ohm, hooked up in parallel, to each of the left and right speaker outputs. To hook up my Definitive Technology DN 10 subwoofer, based on your very good video, I would use the sub's Hi-level inputs. However, since I do not have a "B" speaker option, do I need to run everything thru a speaker selector box? I have a Monoprice SSVC-4.1 4-channel selector box. Can I hook up everything directly to the integrated amp, or do I need to use the Monoprice selector box?
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 I was concerned about the impedance seen by the amp - with a pair of 8-ohm speakers already on each channel, then adding the powered subwoofer. I guess the subwoofer would not impact the impedance since it is not drawing any power from the amp? If so, great news! Thank you!
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 just hooked it up and put on A+B my bookshelf got a very little sounds even I turn the volume to 1 o'clock all I hear just the sub ( I only turn up just a touch) switched back to A only the sound is normal ( 9 o'clock) I was thinking the vintage receiver is not enough powers to drive A+B any ideas? Also just to confirm, with the method you’ve just shown would the sub woofer volume be controlled through the main power Amp right? Appreciate your help.
Theres a lot of 2 channel purest who refuse to use a subwoofer because they say they wanna here the music not the bass , But if hooked up this way its better timed aligned and phased matched , i keep my subs at very low volume just enough to blend in

Great video, I am new to all this. With this set up, can 4 speakers be used as rear spkrs. to create surround sound? Thank you
Thank you for this step by step. It will be very useful. I only have a question for you. Will it bring any impedance issues? I mean, should i take it in consideration? Thank you TJ!!
No won't hurt anything
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 thank you TJ 👑
Helpful.. And your accent made this entertaining to watch. Keep it up.
Thank you ! More to come very soon
What accent?
This is crazy, I'm using the same sub and the same amplifier, awesome coincidence
My reserver had a subwoofer port so all I had to do was connect 1 wire (lfe) and it worked but thanks for this video
Give me a warning next time! 😂 That thing was jamming like a damn concert 😂 I think my speakers in my phone blew 😂
Nice job -easy and clear!!! Not like some folks talk much with no sense
Great illustration and demonstration I’ll try that - thank you
Great vid, but I have 4 speakers in the ceiling, not sure this works without an open B set of speakers.
You can tape into the speaker output from amp Left/right channel the sub only takes like 500mv of signal theirs no drivr power with like a passive speaker
Now all I need to know is how can i play my bass guitar thru this system and I will be happier than a body builder directing traffic!! Lol
Thanks a bunch, I’ve been looking for how to do this but all I see are written guides. I’m just wondering if this method leaves anything to be desired.
Man my phone speakers have never jammed so hard! Nearly scared my neighbor's coffee out her hand!!!!!
Thank you so much! First and last video I had to watch 😉
Yout welcome please subscribe helps the channel out alot I have all kinds of tricks of the trade !
You are very welcome I cant believe how many People this had helped out ! Love it !
You can hook str8 u0 to integrated amp just using A the sub only uses a signal it will not take power away ' 😀
Thank you!
Thank you for this informative demo - much appreciated.
I know how to hook up a sub to my vintage receiver now thank you very much
Ha Tu your very welcome , I got more audio tricks coming soon !
Thanks again
Ha Tu sometimes when using A+B it'll take half the power away turn the amp up on your powered subwoofer
you may have to get more efficient speakers our a more powerful amp what amp you got ?
Ha Tu yes turn the power to the subwoofer half way then on your Reciever turn it up and see if it makes a difference if not your receiver might not be powerful enough the Reciever I use in this video is only 50 watts but it rocks out decently
What if you only have one set of speakers like the musical fidelity e10? Could you connect the sub to the same terminals of your front speakers?
Yes 100 percent -The sub only needs a signal - the signal gets boosted by the subs internal 'Pre'
Excellent video, thanks TJ. I'm trying to find this sub you used in the video. What model is it?
I bought new back on 2010 its the Klispch RD 10 ' hybrid class AB at low power class d at higher power back then I payed almost $900 for it klispch don't make them anymore '
Sucks sub was very good 👍
Tee Jay
Thank s for the video My subwoofer only has a single RCA input. Is there a way of wiring a spkr wire harness direct and if so would I need to make one or two harnesses since the sub only has one RCA input jack?
Thanks In advance
brilliant video and simple to follow. thanks, TJ.
Your welcome 😃
Would this connection method change the amount of power going to speaker A?
No !! It only putting out a signal ' theirs no speaker load at all' just an input so no strain on the amp
YOU ARE GREAT !!!..Thank you so much!!
Your welcome
My God, thanks for sharing this, I was ready to go buy a different amplifier tomorrow morning because my original sub rca output never did work to begin with. I'm going to get some more wire and give this a go. 😛🤘 Rock on buddy 👌.
Your welcome 😃 If you need anymore help let me know thats what i am hear for 😃

Your welcome so glad this video helped so many people out !!
The video i was looking for!
Glad of it ! If you ever need help with anything just hit me up '
Thanks! Just the info I wanted
Super useful. Just to check, does this method allow you split the frequencies, for some of the newer subwoofers? Thinking of picking up the SVS SB1000 Pro. Also just to confirm, with the method you’ve just shown would the sub woofer volume be controlled through the main power Amp right? Appreciate your help.
If the powered sub has built in eq for freq cut like only pickup freq between 60-80hz
very helpful, but I dont know anyone who ever felt like NOT using the subwoofer.
Theres a lot of 2 channel purest who refuse to use a subwoofer because they say they wanna here the music not the bass , But if hooked up this way its better timed aligned and phased matched , i keep my subs at very low volume just enough to blend in
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 fair enough.
I have a preamp + amp and an active subwoofer with low level in and out. Can I connect the preamp out to the sub in and then the sub out to the preamp CD in?
What happens if all ur sub gots is a line input jack like a onkyo skw-580?? And a 2 channel receiver such as a optimus sta-795. Thanks subscribed and love ur channel VERY informative & underated!!
Wow” TJ, this is Great .
Thank you 😃
quick question, was told it's bad to send amplified signel to a active amp??? I put my sub through a tape 2 output on my amp,it has no sub connection, works great...any feedback would be appreciated.
If your sub has has level input it should be ok i didn't think tape output had variable volume
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 thanks for reply,my sub only has RCA inputs and amp speaker wire, yes the only way I can turn my sub up is on it,it doesn't connect with volume control on amp,I was looking to get wire to RCA adapter but was told not a good idea? Any more help/info would be appreciated 👍
Also tried dodgy wired it in and sub is pretty max at lowest volume setting on sub but sounds good and loud, wire to RCA adapter would work you think? Just don't wanna damage amps
Subscribed👍
Will the sub still get louder as you turn up the volume?
Yes
