I just picked up my B.A. Roughneck yesterday. I saw this advertised through an email. I debated whether to order it or not. I'm glad I ordered it when I did. I checked again yesterday, and they were sold out. I went with the 9mm bc it's the must common round. I can't wait to shoot this bad boy. Thanks for making this vid. My next purchase down the road will be the sweet six inch barrel. Godspeed!
My wife and I are shooting our Roughnecks for the first time today (.38sp/.357mag and her 9mm). I also have the .45 colt/.410 barrel, looking forward to shooting that for sure. This video is invaluable. Thank you. I really appreciate, even given your experience, that you are cognizant of the camera in your training. Too many of the testosterone laden guntubers ridicule folks for being critical of them for flagging the camera…but the safety rules are the safety rules. So again, thank you for your excellent training. Did one of your .45 rounds tumble…seems it keyholed, which can happen if you’re relatively close. I had a Sig 9mm that used to do that.
Thank you for the complements! Tumbling rounds can happen, especially with short barrels and even shorter rifling (1/2" in some cases with our short .45LC). Depends on barrel length, and sometimes ammo. My 44-40 out of a 3" doesn't tumble. Sometimes its just the round. I've seen 45ACP tumble out of a full size 1911.
Just bought the Rowdy and watch the video to see how exactly it works. My gid question was about the sliding safety pin... When is it in the firing position???? when its pushed all the way to the right and the red mark is showing to the right of the hammer outside or when the red mark is seen on the inside of the hammer housing???
I would like to know about the safety. Being a slide safety is the bar notched for the hammer to recess into the bar to aid in stability of the safety accidentally being pushed?
I first saw your gun on BigDaddyHoffman1911 youtube channel. I saw him review the Ranger. I was amazed and fell in love with this gun. I did more research and saw you had the Ranger II. Looks like a solid built gun. I just got my wife a Judge, so the ammo is the same. I really am leaning towards getting a Bond Arms Ranger II or Snake Slayer for myself now. OH, by the way, great video on safety as well. Seems like a company of days of old, customer satisfaction as well. Great reviews too.
Gordon Bond makes opening and closing and reloading his handgun look very easy and fast, and I'm sure I could get better with mine too with a little more practice. I carry a Glock 30S for security duty at Church but enjoy carrying my Bond most everywhere else. It is so slim for IWB carry and carry a few extra rounds on me for reloads......if I have time. And it's just cool!
I've got the Roudy XL and shoot the 3 inch .410. I'm trying to find a range with a five or seven yard target. The state ranges are longer for the hand guns. It's frustrating but I'm getting used to the pistol. Actually , it's quite fun to shoot. I usually shoot black powder for hunting, but the Roudy is fun to shoot. I need a harness for it and I'm trying to decide what I want to get.
Got my Roughneck today 38/357. With a two hand hold, can’t pull the trigger! One handed works fine! Weird. Gonna take some getting used it, but my first six rounds at 7 yards with 357 were head shots. Nice. 38 not quite so well. I’m looking forward to learning the art of firing this gun.
is there a half cock notch you have to put the hammer on for loading like the American derringers? and is there a safety like the American Derringer? is it safe to carry loaded?
I carry a 45 lc 410 cowboy defender w/ crossdraw owb holster as a backup to my Glock 27. I have now for years everywhere I go. Beside my bed at night. My bond arm is really my best buddy that's with me all the time. Important thing is very accurate w/45lc. Love it
I wrote a comment on how I safely reload at the range...then I watched Hickok45's Bond Arms Texan review, and he shows the alternate method of holding the barrel and flipping up the action until it is inverted.
SADLY MY TEXAS DEFENDER I HAVE WHEN I WAS TAKING THE HOLSTER OFF SOMEHOW THE SNAP CAME UNDONE AND THE GUN HIT THE FLOOR,THE GUN GOT DINGED UP SOME,DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE MARKS CAN BE BUFFED OUT? AND IF YES,HOW DO I DO IT?THANKS
I have been wanting one for years it's going to happen, my Father had one and as a little boy it fit right into my hand so I just thought that was the coolest thing. Unfortunately my sisters sold all of Dads guns when I was in the Navy. That will not happen to my son.
I’m sorry that your sisters sold all of your dads guns. To your sisters that would be like you selling all of your moms jewelry. Did you pick one up yet?
I've been trying to get a Derringer for years but every time I have money for it none of my local stores have one but every time I'm just looking they always have one 😒
A very very high quality hand cannon that looks as sexy as it shoots. I always get a lot of compliments at the range. I am glad I own one, mine is a Y2K and I love it best of all its made in the good ole USA!
I watched your technique for decocking the gun. Would the gun fire if it was loaded and your thumb slipped off, while trying to ride the hammer forward; or would the rebounding hammer feature prevent that?
I didn't catch any mention of the actual safety mechanism and that's why I watched the video.. obviously very important, and can't seem to find any videos that talk about the safety...
The only problem I have is the back of the trigger guard hitting the knuckle of my finger so when firing more than a few rounds it becomes painful to use.
+jamen brooks Pull back and look at the base of the hammer see the gap on the base ? Big gap is the bottom, Small gap is the top It will rotate each time- Does that make sense
It makes a difference to the point of aim and recoil, I always set mine to shoot the bottom barrel first, as it keeps the recoil lower in the frame and the sights are dead on for that barrel.
@@BondArmsInc I hear you. My local range is okay with it, but won't allow shotguns because they had a lot of problems with it. I think they will allow my little Rowdy hand shotgun as the salesman at the range who I ordered it from also has one but I will ask. I mainly plan to shoot the .45 Colts anyway, but for self defense I got some #4 Buck on order. Need to fire a few of them just to get the feel. My local range even rents machine guns you can fire off on their range, but the next nearest range will jump on you if you fire your pistol or revolver too fast.
Yes. Instead of using the pad of your thumb to cock it on the hammer serrations, use the inside of your first thumb knuckle down lower on your thumb than the pad. It will increase leverage and make a world of difference.
I enjoy the Bond videos and have been carrying my Bond for more than 5 years. I have difficulty hearing. The audio quality needs improvement in the videos. The concrete block walls don't help much. Thanks.
Yup.. another like !! I'm trading up to a Bond and shedding my A.D.C.45/410!! Wish I had seen this before I paid $725.00 retail for a gun that had a loose screw within the first seven or eight shots, with barely any safety features and without the ability to switch barrels. If I was a betting man then I would bet that pretty girl was your daughter.. you ought to be proud - and armed!!
2 things ... #1. When you load/reload , grab the barrel set with your non dominant hand then flip the action instead of the barrels . #2. Single handed grip is no good for this firearm , I use a grip hand with index finger extended in combination with an overgrip, which is action hand ( to work both the hammer and the trigger ) It's a much more natural grip with a handle that works so very well in terms of concealability (action hand index finger will fall semetricaly in line for a trigger pull using this method)
Astute observation. No, this is a video intended to instruct shooters on safe practices when firing our derringers versus the failsafe's that we build into our firearms.
We manufacture inside city limits, and so our range is limited. But if you want to see some longer range action, check this one out: ua-cam.com/video/dzTO8aPDy6Y/v-deo.html
Agreed I just got one and I can't figure safety out I have a cobra one too it's safety pushes to right for safe my Bonds looks backwards book ain't helping

I'm new to Bond Arms Wish I bought one a few years ago where I could have picked up the .22 barrels.

I love my Grizzly

I’ve seen that you can push up on the cocked trigger with a high grip and that makes the trigger really hard to pull.

It has a rebounding hammer as a drop safe feature !!!

I’m so conflicted. I don’t know if I should get one of these or an LCR.
The ultimate battle between sexy and practical.

Which way is safety on and off on a Bond arms roughneck .45 acp
Need to make 22 lr & 22 wmr in a 4 or 6" barrel
Also 32 acp would be nice too
I have a cobra dillinger in 32 cal. Do you think the bond arm s is better. Just wondering. I would like to get a bond arm s in 410 and 45 long colt.
Fantastic firearms and a fantastic company. By a mile, my favourite gun of the (plenty) I have.
If you haven't tried one, you will love it.
Thank you Mr. Bond!
Can anyone tell me about the safety of the gun if it falls and lands on the hammer, will it discharge?
The old models might. All their current models have rebounding hammers which prevents this
The only problem I have is the back of the trigger guard hitting the knuckle of my finger so when firing more than a few rounds it becomes painful to use.
Grip the gun tighter?
I’d love to have 22 mag barrel
Are you Bond...Gordon Bond? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Like your pistols, will be ordering soon. Be safe.
when you pull the hammer back, how do you know which barrel shoots first?
+jamen brooks Pull back and look at the base of the hammer
see the gap on the base ?
Big gap is the bottom, Small gap is the top
It will rotate each time- Does that make sense
This is explained at 7:30 to 8:00. There is an indicator on the left side of the hammer lever.
What difference does it make---just point the gun---and shoot.
It makes a difference to the point of aim and recoil, I always set mine to shoot the bottom barrel first, as it keeps the recoil lower in the frame and the sights are dead on for that barrel.
Excellent point starting about 220 on how to reload gun at range and not sweep the barrels.
It's good head knowledge! A lot of ranges don't allow derringers because so many users flag everyone on the range doing it sideways.

It takes a lot of skill to put words to your muscle memory
my hammer aint that slick, it like pulling back an elephant any tips lol?
Yes. Instead of using the pad of your thumb to cock it on the hammer serrations, use the inside of your first thumb knuckle down lower on your thumb than the pad. It will increase leverage and make a world of difference.
I want one. 410/45. 38/357 extra barrel
Could you possibly have any more background noise???
How do they hold to dry fire?
I can’t afford one yet but I can’t wait, definitely unique but definitely my style
We have some models under $300 these days. Check out our website!
That shooting range seems very exclusive lol
That is some good shooting! I want the Snake Slayer IV. Thats on my wishlist!

The Country Store in Chilhowee.

Do what works for you as long as you keep it safe!
leanad built the first 45 410 derringer they never lasted long tho the atf would not leave them alone i heard
I have the Bonds arm deringer . Never shot it.
You should give it a shot.
Last shot was down low to the right. Wasn't up top except for first one.
Not one damn word about the actual safety button on the gun.
Dotson sweepers
I’m glad I’ve got one, and I hope I don’t have to use it anytime soon. I hunt squirrels and wild turkeys
Made in Texas....not Obama and Hillary's Nanny State of America
Harry Kuheim ...who the hell wants to send money to New York and Connecticut??? I buy Texas and Utah...
Id rather own an American Derringer.
