Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
10
10/10
10
I give it a ten. But even that underrates it.
Clip is good, but title leaves out the fact that the guy from Detroit had a little bit of help from a guy from L.A.
After this experience, Mike Ehrmantraut learned not to take half-measures anymore.
I always thought Foley was remarkably calm for a guy who was almost certainly going to die
usually its calm before the storm!!
He got a look at the script.
If you plan on not dying anyway, calm is a good place to be. Helps you work out the details.
AND they're beating on him. Means they aren't that good at their job, means more opportunity for openings. AND he's got Billy. Heck, for a man who is certainly about to get out of a tight spot and get some smacks in, he's doing an excellent job of not being giddy.
@@petermgruhn Lol very well said
It's incredible how Eddie was on top of the movie world in the 80s, and then the 90s came along...
At least he had the 80s...that's more than almost the entirety of the rest of the Universe could even remotely dream of...much less experience. Certainly more than you...right?
Don't be such a hater fuck, Dude.
He did have a few really great ones in the 90s like Nutty Professor, Metro, Life and Boomerang. His hot streak was over but he managed to make some come backs.
The five stages of an acting career.
"Who is Ricardo Montalbán?
Get me Ricardo Montalbán.
Get me a Ricardo Montalbán type.
Get me a young Ricardo Montalbán.
Who is Ricardo Montalbán?"
Ricardo Montalbán
Just change the name to Eddie Murphy, or any other actor or actress.
That’s about the time he met your mother, it was all downhill from there 👍🏻
That is the most appropriate music for anytime Judge Reinhold is on screen. Pure 80s.
What about when he’s close talking?
He was signing his death warrant with that little remark. “When I popped your little buddy”
The look on Eddie face was foreboding.
Mike Ehrmantrout gets around.
I’d recognize that nose anywhere
Jokes aside, Banks was always a standout character tough guy - even in bit parts like this he distinguished himself. Glad he got to play such a multi-dimensional character across the greatest TV twin-series of all time.
This movie was the first time I saw Jonathan Banks on screen and I've hated him ever since, LOL. He was so good at being despicable.
Holy fuck lol
So it is. Thanks for the tip.
Another example of someone who didn't follow Tuco's advice in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly".
if your going to shoot , shoot ,don't talk
💯%
True dat.
The amount of movies where the bad could of won by immediately killing the opposition.
But they always talk and wait, and often walk of ,
rather simply killing the adversary.
Love how Axel instantly recovers from that beating to take down two guys no fuss. That's one hell of a second wind.
That's a Hollywind
FM
fake
@@markschaefer249 that's "weird". Hollyw... ;)
Understand there's ways to take blows that renders them not so severe and would think Axel knows how to do that so he doesn't get so hurt.
0:53 that slap to the head always got me 😂
It was so disrespectful
@@KtotheG Utter contempt!
It took a long time for Axel’s new partner to come to his senses, he fought his fear and saved his partner’s life from the bad guys
In fairness, Axel did tell him to stay in the car.
wasnt fear....Axl didnt wanted him involved and Billy knew he is getting into trouble with the PD
Well done you.
We watched it too
I really think Billy needs more firepower. You can never have enough.
Those little 38’s are great weapons, but usually just for up close and personal and mostly one on one trouble.
"What are you? nuts?"
Look in his trunk. You will be amazed.
eh, the best gun you can have is the one you can hit your target with
@@InfernosReaper Yep. Practice practice practice. Especially with the same weapon. Of course not trying to get political, but ammo was probably much cheaper in the 80s to acquire and spend some time at the range with.
Another "villain has chance to eliminate hero but for some reason does not" moment brought to you by the Screen Writers' Guild
Actually he pretty much did eliminate the hero, in the sense that the hero was not left alone. He was left with multiple henchmen who were ordered to kill him. They seemed to be having no trouble accomplishing that. Surely that villain had arranged exactly this for a number of his enemies in the past and rightfully assumed basic competence from his henchmen.
Why would he need to personally kill people, if he has people for that? And more importantly, he was wise enough to leave when the hero was still live and healthy. That way if anything at all goes wrong, he could tell the police that he knew nothing about it.
That final slap at 0:53 was just cold
Can we just stop to appreciate how strong Axel's abs were because counting this clip and the Taggart gut punch from earlier in the film his stomach has taken a beating.
I love it when Billy decides to check to see if Axel is OK. When he saw that he was about to die, Billy took the opportunity to save his life, and started to see that Axel was right about everything.
“It’s Billy he’s doing something dumb again”😂😂😂😂
1:03 *Victor be like, YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT TO DO.... HANDLE THAT "ISH"!!!*
Film, fun. Soundtrack, a blast.
The 80s: _Lived ‘em. Loved ‘em. Miss ‘em_
Fun fact Zac "the one who's not mad at Axel" is Mike from breaking bad or better call saul
And Gunderson from Airplane!
Fun fact Axel Foley is Eddie Murphy!
Wow!! No wonder why he looks so familiar. It makes a lot of sense.
His second time working with Eddie Murphy. He was also one of the plain-clothes detectives who gets killed at the start of 1982's '48 Hrs.'
Like the way he plays Zac,cold, calm a professional villain!
One of the best soundtracks of the 80’s
Karate man don't show no weaknesses. Karate man bleed on the inside.- Eddie murphy
wrong movie bro...lmao
I mean, that really feels more like, "Don't mess with anyone from Detroit who has a cop friend in Beverly Hills that hasn't given up yet."
Harold Faltermeyer is a genius in making soundtracks
Always loved how Judge Reinhold was always like Cameron from FBDO, in BHC, lol. 😁 Speaking of acronyms, don't forget that the balding thug who punches and slaps Axel is none other than "Mike Ehrmentraut" of BB and BCS. Absolutely awesome that he finally got recognized for his incredible performance work.
so recognized that you didn't realize his name is Jonathan Banks
Steven Berkoff plays the perfect bad guy.
BEST line… “Well cuz…”!! 😂
Mike has always been a badass.
Love that one guy is punched out twice...he even had time to rerrange the boxes between him
No sarcasm or witticism. Just a sincere "Thanks man."
"Have a nice day"
*cough* "I'll try"
God the banter is hilarious.
Mike Ehrmantraut in his Prime after a long a distinguished career
well said.
The jungles of Vietnam and the Streets of Philly will do that to one!!
@@bentstrider 🙂🙂🙂👍👍
You can tell how much has changed. No cop these days would ever use a snubnose 38.
Its a 2 inch barrel. Height of accuracy!.... in 1642.
@@monkchips Precisely what I tell my wife ;)
@Andre G it ain't the size of the barrel! 👍
Hollywood doesn't have the Balls to make an R rated comedy today. Thank God this came out in the 80s!!
That's because the liberals will get offended
BACK IN MY DAY
@@-Benedict Gen Z 🍼
Deadpool?
In the 80s teens went to R-rated movies anyway. They're not financially viable if they actually don't let teens see them. Nowadays you'd probably go to jail or at least be fined $5000 if you got caught selling a ticket to a 16-yo.
0:52 Love that slap at the end 🤣
That's mobster stuff.
No punches to the face. Just straight stomach punches. Lol
I forgot his name at the moment but the guy that plays Victor was always a great villain
His Name... Steven Berkoff
yes he's always been good, i mean, Octopussy, Rambo
he's a good actor
@@martinkuliza yea on the tip of my tongue, convincing bad guy, he was born for that role
@@BlacKnightRising
I Undestand
He played Adolf Hitler in the TV miniseries “War and Remembrance.”
I saw him live, his one man stage show "Shakespeare's Villains". He was energetic, almost manic. This was 2006 or 2007
2:05 - Nice Trigger Discipline. Rosewood going by the book, as always.
“But I should have taken care of you in Detroit..when I popped your little buddy” man I love actors who play bad guys really well👏👏👏
Who would have thought Mike from breaking bad had beef with Axel Foley
There must be something between Detroit PD and Philly PD...
"Well, cuz......" All-time greatest movie quote
That title actually goes to Tom Cruise in Collateral. "Yo, homie!"
@@OneShotStop229 that one is a top 3 for sure, we just gotta find the other one for the trifecta 👍
That dude's bald now, time flys
@@m42037 to be fair, he was balding in this role already
@@mg19cal I see hair, 🙄 he's going bald in the front, now he's Kojak lol
OMG look how young Jonathan Banks is lol lol lol
This film is from 1984. Looooong time ago.
just remember who u working for
He was a deputy in Gremlins.
I love this movie. I just watched this last night in fact. Im a huge fan of Eddie. That being said, he has never come across as a "tough" guy. At least to me. In the beverly hills cop movies, he seemed to perfectly blend comedy with action and he came across as very capable and scrappy. In this film and several others, he even gets serious at times. Ive never thought to myself in any of these films that he was about to go HAM on people.
The music with Billy crossing the street (signifying crossing over to the side of assisting Axel) was the climax of the film.
- Good bye mister Foley, have a nice day.
- I’ll try
Victor Maitland was a real classy gentleman!
Better times, where even the gangsters had class...
Can't wait till 4 comes out. I'm excited
2:30 So nice of them to restack the boxes before getting knocked into them again.
Billy seeing what it would have been like if he joined the Detroit P.D.
So THIS is how Ehrmantraut got his start.
Steven berkoff as a trio of bad guys: Octopussy, Cop 1 and arguably col. Podovsky in "Rambo"! What costar s he had in the 80s.
the prequel to Better Call Saul---Mikes Story
I am guessing the reason Rosewood clearly looks shaken here after saving Foley is that he has
either never had to shoot anyone before or it has been a long time since he had to.
One of my favorite all time movies. Eddie Murphy was fabulous
One of the best movies ever after all these years later appreciate the memories you guys rock still going strong after these years later appreciate you guys thanks job well done you should be amazed and proud love you guys ! Joe
It's crazy how this character Zach is the same actor that plays Mike Ehrmantraut from Breakfast Bad. So cool!
Un policía forastero en la ciudad al ritmo del synth pop desafíando a los tipos más malos, los profesionales. Con humor y muchos lo subestimaban, pero no contaban con Axel. Un gran papel y una saga entretenida🎬🍿🎞️
We’re not gunna fall for the banana in the tailpipe….!!!!🍌🍌🍌🍌
An interview with Eddie after his movie came out, he explained that at a club he thought he could get into a fight and guys would fly away when he punched them… and they didn’t… he realized movies aren’t real life, and he should avoid fighting.
Very true. Real life is brutal.
Are you serious? You're being real that Eddie Murphy did this film, thought "man, I'm a real badass", went to a club and socked some random guy thinking he'd fly five feet back?
The music in this film was on another level
Axel : Chaotic Good
Billy : Neutral Good
Taggart : Lawful Good
Bogomil : Neutral Good
We need another Murphy / Reinhold reunion!
They made it 😎
Really great soundtrack.
Yes hope the new one is good in bhc4
Billy saved axel life in this scene
It's really fascinating how some old movies made it into the future with really good film quality and some are just horrible :)
Some films are remastered, that's pretty much it.
In the 1980s 35mm film was already excellent. If you see bad image quality, that's an old transfer, often from a theatrical print. Recent restored versions are made by scanning the camera negative with some tweaking. It looks great.
@@RuknaGeraltas exactly
It's hilarious to this day how people act so tough when they're in a group and holding someone preventing them from defending themselves, its the most cowardice thing but yet people still embrace it, but at the same time that just shows how much they fear a person
Gang mentality.
They never go solo.
It's been a very long time since I've seen this movie. That was Mike Ehrmantraut roughing Axel up.
I was once a cop, I used to carry a load of liquid nitrogen. It came in useful when I told suspected criminals to freeze.
Always walk away before loose ends are tied up.
Didn't want blood on his suit. Also, wanted deniability; he didn't pull the trigger, nor give the order directly.
Those old mercedes are a thing of beauty
All 3 receives 10 out of 10. Love this movie
Such an awesome movie!
WOWOWOW is that young Mike? :D
I like how Axel says to Billy "thanks man" as they make their getaway.....he knew that had Billy not acted on instinct and taken a chance he would have been killed.
I had no idea the guy who plays the main villain is British. I always thought he was from some Eastern European country or Sweden since he always plays Russian characters. It was actually my first seeing him play a non-Russian character in Beverly Hills Cop. He also kind of looks like the late Michael Nyqvist from the John Wick movies. I actually thought Michael was him when I saw him in Hunter Killer, but then it dawned on me that he would be very old by then.
Coincidentally the main villain in the second movie is also known for mostly playing Russian characters.
Memories of 83, saw this at Holloway Odean
The music in the scene is 🔥
Finland, same. I love Foley.
That run 1:44🤣🤣🤣
I feel that wall wouldn't stop bullets
Yeah, what I saw was the California kid, save Foleys ass 🤣🤣😂
thank god Billy upgraded from his lil P-shooter 38 to a 44 magnum in the second movie. Even better if he had a desert eagle
Desert Eagles are impractical as fuck what are you on?
Look at the gun nuts trying to out piss each other ,news flash it's a movie not real life.
@@benholland3740 well he probably does have a Desert Eagle in his Collection since that gun did come out in the 80's. We probably didnt see it when Axel closed his room door that showed the number of high caliber pistols he owns. If you watch the latest AK guy video about Desert Eagles, Im sure that is one of the best high caliber handguns back in the day.
Billy probably has the Wildey automag that Charles Bronson used in Death Wish 3. But as Alex pointed out, they don't make the ammo anymore.
There's a good reason that no police or military body anywhere in the world uses the Deagle routinely.
One of the best 80s movies.
11+ Axel Foley rocks !!! Funny azz movie for the time period ~
The more I watch this movie the more I see Health ledgers Joker in Steven Berkoff's performance. Just his voice, use of eyes and sarcasm are all very similar. Health ledger would have grown up on the likes of this movie too. I wonder...
Shit i got it. Officer murphy (robocop), and Axel Foley. Buddy action comedy... im a genius it sells itself.... 😅
9/10. Should be longer.
That soundtrack. Gotta find that vinyl.
Johnathan Banks looks so weird young and without his goatee
1:15 baby Judge Reinhold looking a lot like Chris O'Dowd
I can't wait till 4 comes out. Wonder what the opening song will be. Be hard to top the first one.
Because that would be a neat trick! LOL
Doesn't matter where you're from. All that matters is where you're at and what you're doing now.
I've seen people from very rough places go to small towns with no ghetto and get tuned up dating all the way back to the time I lived in Montana.
2:54 "First team" in the background..
How come 80s villains never stick around to see if the main character is actually killed by their henchmen?
They could have easily killed him right there but instead they choose to have a long talk before someone else commes and saves the day 😂
0:29 Mike Ehrmantraut 😆
Only.... Reggie Hammond gets beat up by Frank Mc Pike.... And then gets a goodbye from Colonel General Orlov.
Detroit is THE town... !
Victor was the same crap that did Rambo 2. 😂
The head bad guy in this played the copper who got his balls crushed by Alex in A Clockwork Orange. He had hair back then.
Just an interesting little fact of the day.
