I was a bit confused as to why this video we posted 2 years ago became suddenly so popular and realized this month marks the 35th anniversary of the original movie. So I went to check a few things online and in terms of him potentially coming back as Serge, he said to Forbes:
“Oh, I have no idea. I have a long-standing agreement with my manager where if there’s a phone call and there’s an offer and they say, ‘This is the start date. Do you want to do that?’ then that’s great and I’m in,” (...) “If there’s any other form of the conversation like checking availability or whatever, I want them to just leave me out of that because then you’re wondering if it is going to happen.”

Serge is the greatest minor character in a movie EVER
I would argue that he is so well portrayed that the actor must have created enough backstory so that Serge is actually the real protagonist and for some random reason, the director of the film told Axel Foley’s minor storyline. 🤦♂️😇

That line and most of the dialogue in this scene was improvised
Fun fact: Bronson Pinchot was pretty much given free reign to do what he wanted with the character, and improvised the heck out of it, all from mannerisms to the lines. That is why Eddie is so toned down in this scene because he is mostly reacting to Bronson; they are improv-acting and making stuff up on the spot as we see it.
Bronson said Eddie wouldn't rehearse with him so Eddie had no clue what to expect. Eddie's genuinely laughing here.
Fantastic. Proper comedy.
Another fun fact. Espresso with a twist of lemon is surprisingly good.

I don't think I've ever seen a minor supporting role in any movie that totally steals every scene he was in like Bronson did. And he did it opposite Eddie Murphy. Simply wonderful work.

Their chemistry is amazing. Serge is so funny, Eddie really had to hold it together for these scenes.

Bronson Pinchot created one of the greatest characters of all time in Serge. You cant help but grin your head off when hes on screen.
Serge is good but his Balki Bartokomous character is better !

I’ve heard Eddie Murphy talk about his scenes with him in several interviews. The laughs from him are genuine! He has said Bronson Pinchot’s portrayal had him in stitches during the filming. I would almost put money on it he will be in BHC4 when it comes out on Netflix in the near future.

It's also funny that Serge has the same assistant in both scenes/movies. Would have been funnier if the assistant (Donny) had been wearing a turtleneck in the second clip.

The scene where Serge tells his employee to cover up it’s not sexy and dog to scrub was improvised. Eddie was trying so hard to hold in in.
But Donny was at the other extreme 10 years later, with a tie. Serge really hammered him into becoming a different person.
That first scene is legendary cinema to be completely honest. Priceless.

I still remember these scenes from so many years ago because the actors performance was so memorable. He was quite popular back in the day with his sitcom Perfect Strangers.
It's amazing how his first appearance lasted about a minute but that was enough to make him an audience favorite and landed him a tv series.

I always hoped someone would see the potential and develop Serge's role. His accent and persona are infectious. I could plausibly see him as a perfect reprisal of "Chief Inspector Clouseau"

When I first watched that movie, I was too young to understand the humor behind this character, but now that I'm 32 I think he's hilarious haha

Hands down one of my favorite characters EVER. Unforgettable.
I think I've figured out where Serge could be from. He could definitely be Franco Lebanese, and raised in France, which would totally explain his French accent being only ever so slight and funny _ having been tempered by the fact that he would also be a native Arabic speaker (taught by his parents) which would have loosened his tongue, compared to the average French speaking person. I have met a few people who are mixed between Lebanese and French. I think that the actor just channeled a gay, Lebanese descent French guy, so awesome! Love Serge so much, I have lost count to how many times I have watched this lol On an added note, being Portuguese I also love my espresso, and with a little lemon twist too _that's the best cure for a headache btw.
