I popped over for some tips on fixing my Bug-A-Salt and found just what I needed. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by your patience and how you interact with your son. We could certainly do with more fathers like you.
Great video. Little man was a real hoot . Mine just quit working and am freaking devistated. I have some serious fun with it. But I bet this is the problem! Thanks for the video!
Because men keep things working. The easy way would be to get a new one. Plus, the deal he made with his son was priceless. You can't have moments like that at the store. Good job sir
I actually found your video to be pretty helpful, man. being able to see the mechanism and how it works BEFORE I do anything to my friend's Bug A Salt he asked me to fix is pretty nice to say the least. lol I'm the type of person that gets a LOT more enjoyment out of fixing things than buying them, so I think it was definitely worth the effort. It's also really great that you're not annoying lol it's nice to see a how to with someone I could see hanging out with. I also think it was really awesome you included your son in on the project. My dad was a mechanic. He was always building and fixing things at home but I had to leave him alone when he was in the garage or workshop. Brother, you brought a huge smile to my face when you told him you where going to give him your tools when he grows up. Great, job, man.
Great video, Great Dad, Great Kid!!!! I just happened to have the perfect hex head 1/4" screw with collar and with a little grinding and epoxy worked for me first time, and thanks' to you it really shortened the teardown rebuild time! Got my first Bugasalt in 2012 and this is my 4th. gave the rest away as they released better models. This is the first one that broke because I left it cocked all the time... ordered a new 3.0 anyway.
This video wasn't exactly what I was looking for but still watched the whole thing. It's not a great tutorial on the gun, but it's a great tutorial for life. 🤣, he just called me a very bored person. You can tell this guy has a busy life and he's using his spare time to create spare time for his wife and bond with his son thereby enriching his family tree. And it all revolves around a project that is stress free because if for some reason it couldn't be fixed, he'd toss it in the trash and buy another, which he could have done from the get, but then this experience would not exist. Anyways, perhaps I am bored, and perhaps he'll be able to relate when that boy becomes a teenager lol.
as a professional master tech... i find your video interesting from an engineering standpoint. I just got one of these for christmas and wondered how they work without having to tear into it thanks for the informative video.....
Loved watching you and your lil man fixing the bugassult. He's a cool lil guy and you are a damn good dad .I loved you guy's conversation and the way you explained to him what the deal was . AND YOU HELPED ME FIX MINE "Good thinking with the ground down screw and epoxy. As I type this I've got mine tore down and am about to mimic your fix. Hope you 2 keep making videos . Very entertaining and informative thanks man . I live in Gulfport Mississippi and the flys here are never ending .
I will just buy a new one. I have killed countless pests with it. Was a worthy investement. Aside from the fact I got it free as a gift. I have drropped flies out of the air with it. Even a gnat.
Long video but great fix… way to save the day Super Dad! Btw, are you a nurse, scrub tech, doc or something? I recognize those blue scrubs… Dad was a surgeon and they became his daily attire!
Thanks for the video! It helped me take the orange tip off without breaking it. Mine had salt jamming up the salt valve and was blowing the air out of the hopper. Took it apart cleaned everything and put back together good as new.
Man you blow me away i just threw my 2.0 out 2 days ago same problem as you mine was 3 yeRs old lots of flys in wisconsin 100 feet from my house i loved my gun i was 2 damn lazy im a fly killin expert dont even need to aim awesome vid u did what i should of
Started watching this video because I needed help with my Bug Assault gun and by the end of it I'm just loving the dad and his son that is the coolest s*** ever you guys are awesome definitely an awesome dad
daddy son moments are the absolute best a childs curiosity can be a a bit much but thats how they learn good job dad sad how many sons dont have that... i love the days my sone wants to hang out in the shop. hes 13 now so im to the point to where i say DUDE !!!! YOU HAVE TO LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU USE ALL THE WIRE IN THE WELDER !!!!!! i dont care if you do but i need to have iit when i need it lol
I have two of these guns. one of them that orange trigger catch is what broke and on my 3.0 gun there is a different design of catch and the part that latches the plunger rod broke. I tried supergluing it and it broke again. Tried some metal sheeting and I got three more shots out of the gun and it broke again. I ordered another 3.0 Bug a salt.
I understood all the audio, but you were off camera a few times and we couldnt' see what have you done, while doing it. Thanks for the video, it helped me.
Has the screw damaged the "seer"? Seems like that screw could be hard on other plastic pieces over time. I just got my 3rd Bug a Salt used off eBay seemed a good deal since it came with the Lazer site. The description said "works great" , well it is broke in that exact way. Thanks for the interesting fix video. I always like fixing things as opposed to making everything disposable. I wonder if someone used a part as a template, maybe cast aluminum replacement parts could be more durable?
Thanks for the video,I know it is easier buy another one there in america but here in Brazil its is not available, we have to buy from Amazon and very expensive so we have to know how to fix it
Is there something you could do to that spring to make it shoot with more psi . I was shooting a stink Beatle to see how something with "protective armor "so to speak and it didn't deliver an instant kill even after several shots ... it wasn't surviving probably wasn't doing to good after first shot but not dead just all peppered up (with salt lol ) could you do another video on powering up your bugasalt with more power by doing something with the spring so there isn't problems assaulting bigger game. Some before and after the spring alterations shots to show increased power. Thanks for the video it was good I think that you are the only bugasalt tear down video BTW. You new mission/video should you choose to accept will be good too can't wait
Yeah, they do... the only problem is I thought he was going to be graduating from high school before his old man finished fixing the dang thing. My god. Cut forward to year 2035, the son walks into the garage, (all growed up) 'Geez dad, are you still messing with that bugasalt gun?!' ;)
having same issue with 3.0 ....too bad the bug-a-salt folks don't take your advice. Nice sear fix trigger mechanism fix...LOL For 40 bucks they ought to fix that on their newer products.
Thank you! Your video was very informative and fun. Mine had a different problem that mysteriously fixed itself after I opened it and checked that mechanism. I wish I had watched your video to the end because putting the muzzle back together without that trick was way harder than it should have been. I’m not bored, I’m an engineer. Fixing things is my jam!
I would rather Mod that Bug a salt for a air tank chamber, made of PVC tube, that way you have Air pushing the salt harder/faster, and mod it for more salt volume to be shot, per shot. Multiple, fast shots with a air tank could be had. You could also use a Main Large Spring spacer to add more spring compression, now that you have it modified
A stronger spring will compromise the plastic seer and other comps. You could make a new hammer and piston to accomdate, though you may just find yourself chasing after replacement piece after piece as you break the remaining TOY pneumatic shotty.
Your little boy totally made me forget why im sittin here with my same bugasalt gun taken apart. Trying to get the pump to pull back and click again, its not shooting and trigger feels jammed...mijes not completely taken apart yet, wanted to make sure i could find a video to show me what im getting into cus ya this thing is surprisingly complex. just mine isnt shooting ...Not bord just a Mom, lol. Im desperately to shoot these dam flies all over my back porch. I dont think mines got same issue as yours though...im not seeing what my problem is either looking at it. But thank you for basically the tear down so i at least can get it bsck together
my bug a salt is completely jammed, cocked and trigger will not pull, safety off. I took all screws out but cannot get gun apart without breaking something. How does it come apart so easy?????????????????????????
Mine still shoots decently, but the part where they hold salt always lets salt pop out because the lids broken. I used super glue, hot glue, electric tape and many other tapes. Any suggestions?
Appreciate the video. I think i would eliminate the secondary safety. I see that you didn't incorporate the pop up site into your refurbished BA 2.01 model. Who really cares, just as long as the assaults continue. My future model is called the Corona Killer
No I'm not a bored person but the same thing happened to mine when I cocked it it wouldn't fire the cock would just come back but then it wouldn't you know uncock it when it went forward again I just threw mine in the garbage and I just purchased the 3.0 blackfly edition it's a lot stronger I shot it into my hand and it was like I got shot by a bebe
It can be frustrating, but entertaining a child's curiosity and answering questions is so important. Great father son dynamic here for sure.
"because I fall under the daddy bought this and I can do what I want with it clause" I officially love this guy 😂😂😂 fucking awesome lmao
100%

He’s a fine little fellow, and you’re a good and patient daddy! And you’re both very bright!

Dad: “her voice...”
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jump cut right after. Makes me wonder if a couple other things may have been said! Hah
@@joshoconnor9666 You know it.
I've spent many nights huddled over my dad watch him fix my toys. The best was when he would solder shit, blew my little mind. Thought it was so cool
Love the way you include your boy, great job oh and cool fix on the bug a salt!
Great video. Little man was a real hoot . Mine just quit working and am freaking devistated. I have some serious fun with it. But I bet this is the problem! Thanks for the video!
It's a pleasure watching the two of you sharing father & son time.

God bless you and your family and fixing the bug a salt
“With her voice…” CALLED IT! Can relate 😂
That little gent is a treasure! Curious and smart as a whip!

Love the 'daddy clause'. ... I'm still laughing. My boy Dexter is 8...and I sure shit am gonna work in a 'clause' today
Thanks.🤠
Great job dad! It was great to see how you involved your kiddo, and why I kept watching.
I like when the son makes a deal to his dad about taking care of him when he gets old
Great vid man! Hahah funny kid Ratting you out hopefully he grows out of that.
yes i am bored. and i am a dad. and yes i liked your conversation with your toddler :D good DYI and good example of parenthood

CRNA. Long odd hours interspersed with really good time off.

Cutest kid ever, good job being patient and teaching the little man!
He's an inquisitive lil guy! Enjoy this time of his life, while dad is still cool. Good video
then realizing it is 4 years ago already. an still people from all over the world still watching. greets from the netherlands.

Well done it’s the sort of thing I would do spend many man hours fixing something that’s worth nothing because I don’t like being beaten.
Started watching this video because I needed help with my Bug Assault gun and by the end of it I'm just loving the dad and his son that is the coolest s*** ever you guys are awesome definitely an awesome dad
Thanks! My little buddy is now a 1st grader. His favorite thing to do is aggravate his big sis about her boyfriend.
I’d think about 86ing the safety. I epoxied mine in the fire position.
Great Dad and Son too
Lol i loved how he asked what does this mean and you said you shouldn't have 2 people on it then he says then why did you have me and you ride it? XD
Yeah I got busted.

Cut down the spring a little and than stretch it out to match the original length before you cut it. Might add a little extra power.
dude youre a pretty cool dad with a pretty cool kid
Not bored my son just wants me to fix his because its the 2nd one we've bought and I won't spend another 40 on them haha
Mandah Garcia it was a fun fix and it held up.
Petroleum based oils/lubricants eat plastic: use PTFE- AKA Teflon lubricants.
Ah, the pure nature of children... ooh, ooh, ah-ah
Like you spending time with your son. But, you left out the most difficult part of dis-assembly. (BARREL SEPARATION),
My daughter asked the same thing when she was on the quad.
Hahaha, how does momma aggravate you? "With her voice"
I left mine cocked up accidentally for a week... does it make any harm to the gun?
Thanks for your help
How long did you use it before it broke? (Or how many shots roughly)
The best vid ever.. i love it.. kids grow up quick. First start talking.. then start talking back to you.
I know right! this video made my day =)
Yeah, they do... the only problem is I thought he was going to be graduating from high school before his old man finished fixing the dang thing. My god. Cut forward to year 2035, the son walks into the garage, (all growed up) 'Geez dad, are you still messing with that bugasalt gun?!' ;)

Yes I'm a boring person. But now I know how a bug a salt works and don't need to take one apart.
He shook on it and it’s on camera, there’s legal proof. He can’t take it back 😂
Same part broke on mine i used contact cement then filled both sides with glue stick
Flys will be extinct after this great toy takes hold.

Waiting for chronograph test
Heavier spring/tighter bore/choke? Fill trigger structure with epoxy before it breaks?
I’m happy with the pattern and power. I’d feel guilty shooting my kids and wife if it were any harder.
Trigger fix on day one is a great idea.
Love the video.

A big rubber band?
@@texacajundiy tried that.. I just ordered a new one. Thanks for the suggestion
Yea i had the same problem as you but i fixed it whit some velcro and now it is as good as new
only help i needed was getting the pump handle off...........and he didnt show that part !!!
What does mummy aggravate you with?
With her voice..
ROTFL
I’d delete the safety. I’d consider a new o ring. I’d shoot flys if they were a protected species. Fly shooting should be an olympic sport.
So like nerf guns, if you take that big firing spring and wind it out to lengthen it a little bit and that should increase your firing power
my dad had all the tools in the world, I get none of it. 😭
Appreciate the video. I think i would eliminate the secondary safety. I see that you didn't incorporate the pop up site into your refurbished BA 2.01 model. Who really cares, just as long as the assaults continue. My future model is called the Corona Killer
Yall shook on it, I saw.
JR you need to keep your head out of the way.
I can see how some wd40 would slick that thing up good.

Would have been a good video without the child
nice head
Your kids head is in the way, so really couldn't see squat
It wouldn’t have helped you figure it out anyhow.
He actually aggravated me so much I couldn't get past the "using a screw to fix it" mark.
This really wasn't a how to video was it.
