100% worth it! I have had my Bug-a-Salt 3.0 for a couple years now. Just got the laser sight and installed it today. It is very helpful with aiming especially if you have to reach to an odd spot to get close and can't really get behind it to aim. As many have mentioned, the installation in this video is incorrect. The mount does go over the larger section. In the package photo, you'll see there are 3 grooves towards the end of the barrel but after installation, there are only 2 showing. There are raised bits in the mount that fit right into the front-most groove. This also ensures it is aligned and does not spin around. I had to completely remove the screw to get it on as I didn't want to overstress the plastic when going over the larger part as it clicks into the grooves. Also, the instructions say to use a #2 Phillips but that didn't fit well. I had to use a #1 Phillips, plus make sure to get one with sharp edges. Last thing you want to have happen is strip the head and have to go looking for a replacement screw! Note on salt. Use any type but make sure it has an anti-caking agent (most common one is Yellow Prussiate of Soda). I have tested different brands of table salt, as well as kosher salt. Don't recommend using kosher salt only. I now have a mix of 2 parts table salt with 1 part kosher salt that seems to work better than either salt alone. For those who are shotgun enthusiasts the table salt acts like a buffer for the larger kosher salt like in flite control rounds. Specific to the Bug-a-Salt, it also gives a better seal for the air than using kosher salt alone (since it was designed for table salt anyway). Salt grain sizes I tested. Windsor and Sifto table salt were the finest and cost $2-$3 for a 1kg box. Wal-Mart Great Value table salt was about 15% larger grains (and interestingly the cheapest at $0.97 for 1kg bag, and that's Canadian money! ;-)). The only kosher salt I found with the anti-caking agent was also made by Windsor but it was like $7 for a 1kg box (though afterwards I saw it for as little as $5 at another store). So now I have 4kg of salt to use up! 🤭😂🤣 Oh one last note on salt sizes. A neighbour gave me some coarse pickling salt but the grains were much larger than the kosher salt so I didn't try it in the Bug-a-Salt for fear of damage or clogging.
THANKS FOR MAKING A VERRRY INFORMATIVE VIDEO !!! I've had a Bug-A-Salt since I saw one at Sportsmans, about 4 months ago...during the off season. I saw them on Shark-Tank. I read his story and reasons for building his gun creation. I thought it was KEWL !!! It WILL sting the crap out of you! I think everybody is going to be STUPID enough to shoot their hand with it...I did!!! wished I hadn't!!! It hurt for a couple of hours! When you aim and shoot, it's like shooting a close range shotgun. It does lave a little "pattern" of salt "shot" that is forced out at an incredible speed. (He said he used to pour a little sand into his BB gun and shoot it. This is just a bbig version of a BB gun.) The nice thing about it is that when it kills the bug, it does it immediately! There's no time for the bug to hurt! That, plus, it doesn't tear tye bug to shreds! Its easy to take a tissue and pick up! I imagine I'll get an old tissue box and one tissue and pick the bugs up with the tissue and drop them into the box with it, over and over, and then when the bag of garbage is ready to get tied up, dump that box out and. put it all out. That way, nothing gets into the dead bugs! REMEMBER...those bugs are NASTY, and the stinging bugs STILL HAVE A STINGER !!! You can sting yourself with a dead bug, if you pick him up wrong! I know, I wrote a book! sorry! The gun is a verrry good investment, but treat it AS A REAL GUN...it's NO toy! I labeled it, NOT A TOY ! They say...don't leave it cocked! So I labeled it, DON'T LEAVE COCKED ! I will know it, but my daughter brings my grandson up and they use it! Thanks again for your video! Bill from Tn. 🇺🇸
I have the same exact model in the same color, the Black Fly edition. I backed the screw out of one side of the mount then separated the laser from the mount. Then I slid the mount onto the muzzle until IT SNAPPED INTO PLACE and it completelely covered the first of the 3 orange slots. Then I put the laser back on the mount and tightened up the screw. Your laser mount isn't all the way on, Fix It Now. You should do what your name says. I also put 2 small pieces of electrical tape on the laser before I slid it into the mount to take some slack out. It snugged up nice and tight when I tightened the screw. The tape is optional, but I do suggest you mount the laser properly about 1/2" farther back. When it clicks into place it will keep the laser from rotating around the barrel if you bump it on anything.
Well let me tell you something, you're right! I took my bug beam off & slide it back over the first orange color until it clicked & it's on tight. Not only that it's shooting with laser beam accuracy! Thank your input!
I don't recommend the laser sight if you have cats. Once they see the laser, cats inadvertently scare of the target insect when they chase the laser dot. My cats stand in alert everytime I take out the Bug-A-Salt cause they think it's chase the "red glowy immortal red bug game"

Actually you can use coarse ground salt or Epsom salt and it greatly increases knock down power
No. I own one and a small amount drops through a hole and into the chamber..
Plus the spread would be useless.. assuming u fit 2 pieces it would almost always miss..

Your laser is installed incorrectly. It does in fact go over that first "rung" as you described it. It won't twist when it's on there correctly.
