Footings! | New Construction ADU in SOCAL | First-Time Owner Builder

- Once the old patio demolition was completed, our ADU project started from scratch. Starting with the crucial step of constructing footings. Footings play a crucial role in ADU projects, as they evenly distribute the weight of the structure to prevent it from sinking into the ground.

Good Job!👍
The footing distributes the weight of the structure along the soil.
Great job, really good prices
Good stuff brother! I’m looking to do an adu in the Bay Area . This is very cool content to relate too.
Thanks for documenting and sharing! Was the plumbing done before the floor framing?
Simultaneously, just before floor insulation and floor sheating.
Check your plans for the sewage line and water line coming to your house and instruct the footing guys where to put the plumbing pipe.
Hello! Thanks for sharing the knowledge! New to your channel. Did you use an architect or just draftsman? I am new to SoCal as well (coming from NY) and hear that in CA you can use a draftsman only for the plans. Thanks!
Did you have to re route any pluming that was in the way of the footings?
Hello there,
There were no plumbings under the old structure, so we didn't have to do this.
i am planning to build ADU about 350 sq ft only, who did the blue print plan, so i can hire?
Homeowner is required to live in either main house or ADU.
I know this is true for JADU. The information that I received is that I can rent out both main property and detached ADU. Can you provide me a resource page so I can educate myself. TIA!
For the footings why high rise footing ?
Trying to match my main house.
This is a crawl space foundation right?
Yes!
Great work! I’m planning on building my 490 Sq attached adu once my plan get clearance from the city. I’m trying to save as much as I can so I’ll be doing owner builder like you. If you don’t mind me asking do you share your sub contractor info so I get an estimate. Thanks!

What's the information for the architect?
Not sure if I responded to this? Are you in Southbank area? The architect that I use is limited to certain cities.
Would you be able to share his contact information? I have a project I need get done
What kind of project? Did the city approved your plans already?

Thank you! I sent an email and IG message a couple days ago

Wow, there is no insulation between dirt and concrete 😂
Insulation is on the next video. The adu is elevated from the ground for the crawl space.
🤣 Promo`SM
Hello Kevin
Thanks for sharing the great video, could you please give me the contractor's phone number thanks.
Send me an email if you still need this.
Wow you got hosed. 15000 for concrete blocks😂
Did you miss all that purely manual labor in the first half of the video? If he only paid $15,000 and almost half of that went to material, I wonder how much of a week all the workers were actually paid.
? I think it was fair considering the amount of work and material needed. Keep in mind this is in Southern California not Alabama
This is fair priced in LA
