I have a pretty simple approach. The 11” iPad Pro has every feature that the 13” iPad Pro has, except for that larger display, for $300 less. To me, $300 is just too much of a gap to justify getting the larger size. Also, I personally love small, compact, but very powerful tech, and that’s what the 11” iPad Pro embodies

In other words…Get an 11” Pro if you want a tablet. Buy a 14” MacBook Pro if you want a laptop.

I went with the 13 inch. I’ve only spent 2 weeks with my M4 pro, but I’m glad I went with the 13. Admittedly there was a brief bit of dread the first day dealing with the size. That feeling of “i should have went with the 11” was real. It just becomes normal after a day or so. Especially with the Magic Keyboard. It’s no different than carrying around a MacBook. It’s probably not as overwhelming coming from newer larger iPads…I upgraded from the air 2……like going from a cell phone to cinema screen.

I sold my MacBook and 11 inch pro back in 2020, and opted for the 12.9 and a Mac mini. This has been the perfect setup for me.

To my mind, anyone with a laptop does not need a keyboard for an iPad. I can’t think of a single keyboard usage requirement that I would not prefer to do on my MacBook over a top heavy iPad/keyboard combination.

Counter argument, it would be lighter to bring an iPad+keyboard as opposed to an iPad+macbook.
But generally speaking I agree with you. I bought a M1 macbook pro out of FOMO, and it absolutely does feel better to type on than an iPad's magic keyboard. However since I need the iPad to draw, if I have to choose between the two devices, the Macbook always gets leftbehind. Can't travel without my trusty doodle pad, lol.

I had a 12.9" M2 iPad Pro and just replaced it with the 11" M4 iPad Pro.
It's not about the weight, but because it is too big, the weight distribution makes it hard to hold the iPad to read and sometimes watch things. I usually hold it from the middle to bottom of the iPad and it is too big that it gets too heavy.
I didn't have this experience with the 11" and with the M4, there's no difference in screen quality nor performance, so I'm really happy.

Went for the 11inch and have no regrets. I use mainly photo editing apps for work with the video editing also being a part of my workflow. Unless you need the extra screen I'd save the money and use it for a Magic Keyboard or an assortment of useful accessories.

I could probably get away with the 13” iPad Air, but the only reason I’m opting for the 13” iPad Pro is bc of Face ID and the oled display. I’m so used to those things on my phone that it makes my user experience a bit meh when I’ve used other peoples cheaper iPad models

The 4 friends at school sitting in a row with me all have the M1 iPad Pro 12,9". I have the 11" M2 and though I'm kinda jealous because of miniLED, the smaller display doesn't matter for and I enjoy the smaller formfactor and weight. Both are great and very usable for school. In my case, I don't feel more narrowed or something and get the task done in the same time.
Just try it out in a market or try your friends devices 🤝.

The 13" M4 iPad Pro is incredible. It's so thin and light that it's very portable. The screen real estate allows for much better work and media viewing. For note taking, it's like using a spiral notebook. I'm veyr satisfied with it. The 11" was my last purchase, and was also nice. With that said, the screen size and lightness of the 13" is perfect for me. By the way, I don't use a keyboard case, so this 13" without a case is very portable. If you need a keyboard, you might want to consider a laptop. That makes more overall sense if the Apple Pencil isn't a priority.

Four years ago, when I bought a new iPad 11, I almost immediately realized that it was terribly small and switched to 12.9. I used a large iPad with pleasure for two and a half years. Then I gave it to my mother, as I moved to the MacBook Air 13 myself. Time passed, I wanted my own iPad again. Without thinking, I took 12.9. Using mainly MacBook, I now realized that I made a huge mistake by choosing a large diagonal. I'm sure that now I'll switch to 11 inches and will be happy to use it. I'm not smart enough). Until I get the item at my personal disposal, I can't plan the degree of its convenience for myself.

I'm almost 40 and I still don't quite grasp how people "multi-task." I even run my own company (a bakery), and it still boggles my mind. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just missing something.
I literally cannot do something with 2-4 tabs open. I can't read from two different sources at once. I can't read while listening to a Podcast or UA-cam video. If I try, I'll just be taking in static. Do people that? Can people read from multiple sources at once at the same time? Can people read a book and watch a video at the same time? I had to pause this video just to type this.
It's just an interesting concept. I see a lot of people argue in defense of the Macbook, because multi-tasking is apparently really important, and I just don't know who these super humans are, lol...
I'm forced into an iPad regardless, because I use it for drawing. Macbook can't do that. But I also have a hefty desktop PC with a 4090 for basically any computer work. And while this rig itself is probably a king at multi-tasking, I really don't do much different than I would on a phone or a tablet. I'll have Firefox open in the background when I play video games, but I won't be reading Firefox at the same time I'm playing a game.
I could argue that I listen to music or a podcast while playing video games (like Age of Empires), but that's not beyond an iPad's ability. An ipad can run spotify in the background while you read something on Firefox. Could you imagine if it couldn't, LOL!
    ---
As for adjusting to size, I find this philosophy to be extremely true most times! And I absolutely agree with it. For awhile I was using an iPhone Pro Max, and then later a Samsung S24 Ultra. Both massive phones, and when I first went big it took me about 2 months to fully adjust, and then it just felt normal.
However, I ultimately went to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, because while I adjusted to holding a larger phone, it was actually worse for me. It's hard to be athletic with a brick in your pocket. And I can't text one handed.
But as for reading and using the phone, I adjusted right back to the smaller size almost instantly and don't regret it at all.
And one thing that goes in my favor, along with my inability to multi-task, I struggle to watch media on a cellphone. I don't need a bigger screen to watch UA-cam. I'll watch stuff at home in my office, or on my TV.
And it's kinda the same for the iPad. I want it to draw. I'm not really gonna watch anything on it. Though the screen is nice. I'm mostly looking for the ease of use for a long drawing session. I've been studying my drawing habits the past several weeks with my 13 inch 2020 ipad and realize I don't use half the screen. So I'm excited to get an 11 which should make travel way better.
    --
as for batteries, like with my smaller iPhone, they invented battery banks for a reason, lol! I've been trending down to lighter more streamlined products the past few years and have been loving it. I feel so free!
Kinda hinting back to my dislike of the bigger Pro Max and S24 ultra. It's hard to spontaneously jump into the back of a truck or do parkour when you're phone is so big you worry about bending it over your knee because it's just so wide, haha. The smaller phone stays flush with my leg, and I never worry about it.

When I bought the pro 13 the display seems to be always a little warmer/yellow tinge compared side by side to my 11 inch pro. I was surprised by this difference (even when I have both ipad true tone/nigh shift turned off for true side by side compare). In the end I liked the 13 but had to return it due to inconsistent warmer display

I like the 13” air - can go between handheld and table top. I returned the M1 Pro finding it too heavy for on the couch handheld use. Most reviews aren’t covering this difference.

  • @ard2595
    @ard2595 12 днів тому

Most people trying to decide between an 11” and 13” pro model iPad, need to stick with the Air. PERIOD! Save yourself some money and STOP acting a fool that can’t manage money! You won’t know the spec difference in much of anything, YOU will use it for, which to be honest, will mostly be content consumption. This is especially true regarding the 60hz vs 120hz refresh rate, unless you’re a gamer. Then that decision pretty much solves itself.
11 versus 13 is easy! I used a 9.7inch Pro for most of my work that lasted for over 8 years, which was a downgrade from my 13” macbook pro model that bit the dust. So, when upgrading this time around, I’m going back to my 13” real estate. That’s how I justified spending the extra money. Because I will have use for it, including the 120hz refresh rate bump, which I’m already use to with my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
This then, is a grouping of specs I KNOW I’ll use.
As for the rest of you who don’t know anything about specs? who just merely want to sound intelligent? aspect ratios and all that nonsense will ALWAYS BE a factor in an iPad; because apps are mainly made for iPhones. But the dark lines is mainly about the FILM adaptation to smaller screens.
As I said, MOST of you are spec illiterate. So just go with the AIR. It’s only your ego that wants to waste money on what you’ll NEVER utilize to full capacity!
I use my equipment for occupational purposes! Most of you DO NOT! The M2 Air with Super Retina screen, is more than you’ll ever require! TRUST!
