I agree with so much of this. I've been trying to use an iPad as my main machine more or less since 2020 but it just never works out. Everything feels like I'm doing tasks with 1 hand behind my back. I love using it for note taking with the pencil and when I need to focus on just typing out something. I think I'll be looking at an M3 Air to "replace" the iPad

At last, a honest to goodness review of the new iPad Pro! Everyone else is just gushing over how the colors "pop," how thin it is, and Geekbench scores that are meaningless to regular people. Thank you so much!
I have literally all of the same frustrations as you LOL I felt very seen by this video. I got the 11 inch instead of the 13 inch, and finally sprung for an iPad because the smaller ipad pro got a good screen at long last. There was no way I was ever going to buy a big ipad. I agree w/ all the complaints, but I feel the biggest thing about this ipad that I know I wouldn’t get if i spent the same on the macbook is fun. There’s no way around it, this is the most fun product. It is not the most practical product at all. But me and my partner have fun drawing on it. It’s really fun to watch content on, the screen is drop dead gorgeous and it’s in a great size. It’s much easier to just pick up and use for a quick task compared to even my 13 inch macbook air. This screen is basically just a bigger version of my iPhone screen but that’s why I love it! It’s much easier to see and enjoy, i love my iphone screen and I’ve always wanted to watch movies on it but even the max is tiny for such a task. This is great! Everyone always says that the older iPad has essentially the same screen but that’s only true for the bigger model! I feel like this is the best screen you can really get on an ipad at this size, and I think that plus the novelty and the fun factor of it is nice. But hey, maybe after a month it’ll wear off and I’ll stop using it much. But for now, I’m enjoying it!
If regular students want to stick with MacOS and IpadOS and not Windows laptops the iPad 10th gen is good enough the USB C apple pencil can get most things done. after spending 350 dollars you'll have plenty of cash for the Macbook Air, so yea go ahead buy the 10th gen iPad and the M3 MacBook air (or save more money and buy the m2 MB air if you really are a regular doing basic tasks).
I personally use the new iPad to watch YT, Netflix, scan documents and do light work like emails and stuff. With minimal gaming from time to time. So far I’ve been most annoyed about how not all apps are optimised for the magic keyboard.
Samsung is currently advertising their s9 2024 edition with s pen included,128gb and Dex for 300. That's a tablet I recommend to students. A wireless keyboard is like 40, toss in the buds fe for 60 and you have a match made in heaven for 400. THAT is value
@@this_world.s_test a real apple sheep right here, thinks apple makes apple makes both Samsung tablets and iPads 😅. The base tablet of any main-entry Samsung tablet has the same screen and chipset. Size and ram are the main differences.
For desk job folks doing mainly typing and reading, i like portable options. Light and fast enough is good enough for me That said we have the M1 13 inch and it is so heavy with the magic keyboard
Upgraded from 9.5’ iPad Pro to m4 13’ received $135 as a trade in through apple. It was working fine but battery was not doing too well also selling my 2017 iPad Air which is getting old. Replacing two items. One to carry around for entertainment and playing with photos.
Finally someone calls out the 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s very unfortunate for a device that is used for content watching by a large portion of its customer base.
@@gardriel8208 Not for ONLY watching content, but I don’t know a single iPad user that doesn’t watch content at some point on it. Besides, I’m not suggesting a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 16:10 that’s used on virtually every laptop, including MacBooks, would be a common sense compromise.
4:3 is preferred by artists (who buy the Pro and Air) and students who take notes (who buy the standard and sometimes the Air). It makes sense. Samsung's tablets are 16:10 and even the $600 ones have OLED screens if that interests you
@@IceBlueLugia I’m fully invested in the iOS ecosystem, so a Samsung tablet is impractical. The vast majority of iPads users aren’t artists or students, so it seems silly to offer all iPads in that form factor. It’d be a good idea for future iPad Pros & Airs to use different form factors. At the very least, it’ll help differentiate a lineup that is confusing & redundant for many buyers.
Amazing review…as someone who abandoned Mac laptops many years ago and only use desktops (Studio and TrashCan) upgrading from my 2018 has been amazing, speed ram management and how much I enjoy iPad as a tablet is another amazing companion but an expensive one. Air is the way to go and even the m1 air. Thinking about getting one for the office
I completely agree with this video. I've been trying to figure out how to use my iPad M1 as a "laptop replacement" but as Ella said, power users will not enjoy the experience. Even official apps for productivity such as MS Office, Canva and the like, offer features that barely scratch the surface of what you can do on a full fledged laptop (Mac or Windows regardless). Refreshing to hear an on-point review for once. Thanks Ella!
You are missing out the m4 ipad, i genuinely think it is worth it. Almost no heat, deep black screen, good battery, powerful, and fully replace my work mbp. Unless you are video editor ipad pro m4 absolutely worth it and can be your only device for all your work or study purposes. For those apps you can use word apps from apple, canva is available on ipad aswell. Photo editing with this is good. Light video editing without much effect or complex structure timeline is good aswell.
Been trying the iPad Pro for a week to decide if I wanted the M4 iPad or Macbook Air, you helped confirm all the frustrations I had and even helped me realize exactly what it was for some features that had been bothering me. Really well and thought out video, very much appreciated and will be looking more into the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro for my money💙
Thanks for the video!! One thing I would say about the editing is when your lettering appear behind you, it dont show the text once, to fix this i recomend you make a movement keyframe of Y position, to show the leeting entrance then return your position to standard place. Other than that the video is amazing!!! Still S9 Ultra is better!
I think most will use the iPad as a standalone device for the lightweight convenience to play games read on and surf the web I think the better comparison would be newest 13” M2 iPadiPad Air to the 13” iPad Pro M4. I want a big (13”) screen that I can sit outside on my balcony and read and surf the web and watch UA-cam or whatever So if you ever have a chance to compare the newest iPad Air to the M4 iPad Pro, let me know which is better in the sunlight. Also for reading books at night, is it easier to read on the OLED screen or the LED screen? Oh, by the way, SDR brightness for the M4 iPad Pro 13 inch is 1000 nits Max. The LED iPad Pro M2 12.9 hits 600 nits Max SDR brightness, which is most content. Thanks for the great review
Thank you so much for talking about these issues with iPados, like no one ever discusses this like you are. Like it feels apple needs to justify the price so they release half baked software as a 'feature'. Samsung Dex seems like the better option and samsung tabs come with the pen included and has micro sd card for expandable storage, sure the ipad has power due to the m4 but it doesn't make sense with the lacking os
Nice review. I was on the fence about getting one of these, but frankly watching this, I dont' see a use case there that my Mac isn't covering. I keep a gaming laptop and a mac for productivity and my M3 pro macbook pro does the job nicely. And is portable enough to throw both laptops (my gaming macine is a zephyrus g16 2024 so very light and thin) into a bag if I need 2 screens for something.
Your example with the UA-cam app is 💯 and I felt that. I also noticed that the ESC key basically does nothing, you can't use it to stop full screen UA-cam, or much of anything else. iPad is great for iPad stuff, with touch screen. Keyboard is only for people that want to type up a lot of emails or work on Pages.
Actually you will regret it mate. 15 pro max is superior compared to s24 ultra , but as you are upgrading from iPhone 12 so you will find ultra quite awesome
When I first bought it was giving me like 8-9 hrs sot now only 7 hrs and also cameras are not that much consistent ( camera is great but not consistent)
Honestly, I don’t need my iPad to replace my laptop, if I had to select between the two I would obvs go for the laptop But my iPad I just wanted it cause, taking notes is fun there and cause entertainment I guess since prefer to read or watch stuff there and it’s comfortable to take everywhere
Just curious, what did you do in college? I only ever used an iPad in college, and it worked great for taking notes and writing essays. I could obviously see it being very different if you were in some kind of computer science or engineering field.
Thanks for the video. I learned about your channel when I was deciding whether to switch to the iPhone from Android, and you convinced me that I should give it a try. Since then I've been buying an iPad, MacBook, Apple Watch, Airpods, etc... 💸💸
I have the iPad Mini 6 and like its performance and form factor. However, iPadOS doesn't come close to my Samsung Tab S9 in terms of customizations and usability. I use DeX quite a bit, so it comes close to replacing a laptop. I find the Tab S9 more versatile and suited to my needs, but I am no longer a power user.
I believe the 120hz mode for Safari is something turned off by default (likely for power consumption). These iPad Pros have a number of ideal use cases. For children, even, they’re fantastic. FaceID is seamless, you can control what they access easily, and they seemingly last forever while playing games really well.
For a device that costs more than most laptops and is more powerful. It’s shame it can’t replace them for the simple reason that Apple doesn’t want it to. That’s why its the surface pro 11 for me
@christianr.5868 it's not Apple don't want to replace the laptop with the iPad, they can't.. just check the confuson on Snapdragon X Elite testers, when they realize that the machine perform better from battery like from a charger. But it's kinda easy to solve the problem, the chip is thermal limited, and made a huge different if you heat the battery (while chargig the battery, it's also generate heat) the thermal limit kicks in sooner.. this is the same on the iPad, but there are even the display generated heat is a permanent heat source next to the chip.. so even with the same chip, it can't operate as a Macbook (because that 4-6W constant heat generation from the display is basically the different between the non throttling and between the throttlig chip.. because that heat generated far away from the chip in a Macbook, so irrelevant in the chip performance there, but it's relevant in tablets)
@@TamasKiss-yk4st this chip doesn’t get as hot or lose as much performance under full load though. Look at gaming benchmarks compared to the m2. That, and it blows away the m1 in the MacBook Air performance and efficiency wise. So I don’t know why it wouldn’t be able to run macOS efficiently
As a former student with an iPad, I quickly realized that having a traditional laptop with windows is so much easier to work with in terms of submitting assignments, pdfs, doing research and working with the college servers, as opposed to an iPad or MacBook. 🤓 Nonetheless, I did upgrade to the new iPad 4M.

I think it depends on what you are using the IPad Pro for. I have a M1, 1TB and use it for Email, UA-cam Video's and Reading books and magazines. I have only used 35 GB of space so far. So for me, no sense in upgrading because I will never use the IPad Pro for Video Editings or more advanced functions.
My take on this review is that it goes around the idea of having an iPad as 'a single all purposes one device' replacing a computer entirely. It certainly has a screen big enough for it, as well as the processing power along with its price tag. But that's not how I see tablets. I believe that's not the vast majority of iPad users see them. Since iPad introduction, a new market was born and it has a healthy rich environment full of specific designed apps for the platform both for work and fun. We shouldn't expect to find them and work with them out of the iPad, not it would be a better experience. This iPad Pro is about the best tablet experience possible. Not about replacing your personal computer. At least that's how I see it.
Exactly, I 💯 ageee with you. When I was in school , I needed a computer because majority of the apps run better on a computer. I always thought of a tablet more of a multimedia device than a computer.
Yeah, I purchased ipad pro 11 inch thinking it will be more portable and convenience. Turns out I always come back to laptop for convenience. Ipad now become an accessory and only sometime useful when Im not working at home. I prefer laptop even when I'm outside

Good review. There is one thing IMHO that many miss about an IOS device, especially the new 13in iPad Pro. I use a windows machine every day for work, and my friends use the Mac for work. Both machines are driven by the keyboard, and mouse. The IOS device has a touch screen. I find there are many many times I wish I could just touch the place on the screen I want instead of usinging a track pad, or mouse to move around to find the place to click on. When I use my 13in iPad Pro to do things, I find myself saving time, lots of time. And that is what I think many people miss using a touch screen device like the iPad. Now, they are coming out with Final Cut Pro improvements, and they look very good, and take advantage of the touch capabilities.
I’m going to keep it 100 a student using over a regular iPad or air is wild NGL I’m struggling to see how that would be a good ROI. The Mac book air argument as well. Apple strikes me to be like Porsche the 911 looks and is great and most people will be in awe but a 911 turbo S can be right next to you looking roughly the same but cost double the money. It only exists for people who want a tax write off or love to track. At 2000 for a iPad 11 with nano screen. I can’t say many people would need that ❤

You've presented a great, objective review, summarizing all the usage issues and glitches.
I just switched from my MBPro to ipad pro m4. It is the perfect device for me. 11inch is perfect.
The pencil dangling is hilarious! 😆
Fantastic review!!!! Concise and well thought out. 🌟
The whole presentation and production value A+, I had to subb
I personally use the new iPad to watch YT, Netflix, scan documents and do light work like emails and stuff.
With minimal gaming from time to time.
So far I’ve been most annoyed about how not all apps are optimised for the magic keyboard.
Samsung is currently advertising their s9 2024 edition with s pen included,128gb and Dex for 300. That's a tablet I recommend to students. A wireless keyboard is like 40, toss in the buds fe for 60 and you have a match made in heaven for 400. THAT is value
But we dont want a Samsung tablet 😂
Lies
bro base samsung tabs are not worth buying. they too weak and has weak battery as well. i would recommend ipad gen 10 for students and it’s just 340$🎉
@@this_world.s_test a real apple sheep right here, thinks apple makes apple makes both Samsung tablets and iPads 😅. The base tablet of any main-entry Samsung tablet has the same screen and chipset. Size and ram are the main differences.
I love your videos, fun and informative. Please keep doing them.🎉
Most informative review thus far. No bias and concise.
For desk job folks doing mainly typing and reading, i like portable options. Light and fast enough is good enough for me
That said we have the M1 13 inch and it is so heavy with the magic keyboard
Thanks for the honest review.
_The iPad Pro with an _*_M4_*_ is like having a scooter with a _*_FERRARI_*_ engine._

Very excellent job, you checkmark all the important aspects that other ytbrs don't cover!
5 Stars worth video 👍🏾
Wow..surprisingly exactly the points I needed to knw..thank you
Upgraded from 9.5’ iPad Pro to m4 13’ received $135 as a trade in through apple.
It was working fine but battery was not doing too well also selling my 2017 iPad Air which is getting old. Replacing two items. One to carry around for entertainment and playing with photos.
这集Ella真的自己都讲high了,隔着屏幕都能感受到的热情,very convincing!👋
5:54 那句5年定论真的扎心了
Finally someone calls out the 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s very unfortunate for a device that is used for content watching by a large portion of its customer base.
Nobody is paying 1000+$ for watching Netflix on it
@@gardriel8208 Not for ONLY watching content, but I don’t know a single iPad user that doesn’t watch content at some point on it.
At the very least, it’ll help differentiate a lineup that is confusing & redundant for many buyers.
actually 4:3 is better for everthing but watching movies.
Love your videos. Keep it up!
I have a m1 iPad pro and I absolutely love it I want to upgrade to the m4 iPad Pro 13 inch as soon as I can afford it
I completely agree with this video.
Great review!
Both ladies do their research. They both give accurate information about the iPad I just got the iPad Pro M4 It is extremely thin but I love it
Thanks for the video!! One thing I would say about the editing is when your lettering appear behind you, it dont show the text once, to fix this i recomend you make a movement keyframe of Y position, to show the leeting entrance then return your position to standard place. Other than that the video is amazing!!!
Still S9 Ultra is better!
Your honest review about the negative side of iPad pro makes me subscribing to your channel. :)
Loved the video! Will you be reviewing the ARM Surface pro?
Ela no one thought this were perfect gurl
A bit like your English
Excellent review with excellent editing. I agree with all points made.
Pretty nice and indepth review 👌🏾
I think most will use the iPad as a standalone device for the lightweight convenience to play games read on and surf the web
I think the better comparison would be newest 13” M2 iPadiPad Air to the 13” iPad Pro M4.
I want a big (13”) screen that I can sit outside on my balcony and read and surf the web and watch UA-cam or whatever
So if you ever have a chance to compare the newest iPad Air to the M4 iPad Pro, let me know which is better in the sunlight.
Love the honesty, great review Ella!
11:35 💯, it could have been the ultimate portable 2 in 1 with Magic Keyboard attached allowing mac os and ipad os while seperate
I just got an S24 Ultra to replace my iPhone 12 and I'm super happy with it!
Your videos helped me a lot making this decision, thank you very much!
Loving my S24 Ultra. Moved from apple too.
Use for 3-4 months then regret like me 😂
Actually you will regret it mate.
@@TheB1naryi literally want an ultra just for the pen lol. Like i can use apple or android but in like give me a dam pen
Thank you so much for explaining the iPad Pro M4 2024 ❤
Honestly, I don’t need my iPad to replace my laptop, if I had to select between the two I would obvs go for the laptop
But my iPad I just wanted it cause, taking notes is fun there and cause entertainment I guess since prefer to read or watch stuff there and it’s comfortable to take everywhere
And here i am replaced my mbp with ipad m4.
Just curious, what did you do in college? I only ever used an iPad in college, and it worked great for taking notes and writing essays. I could obviously see it being very different if you were in some kind of computer science or engineering field.
I studied comp sci!
surprisingly your thorough inspection is quite remarkable. thank you for the review.
ipads aren’t meant to be laptop. get 10th gen ipad with macbook air
Very honest review from a Apple Fan Girl.
love the aesthetics of your videos! the edits are so good, making me want to buy every reviewed device 😁
Thanks for the video. I learned about your channel when I was deciding whether to switch to the iPhone from Android, and you convinced me that I should give it a try. Since then I've been buying an iPad, MacBook, Apple Watch, Airpods, etc... 💸💸
Have been waiting for your review… thank you very much!
FaceID is seamless, you can control what they access easily, and they seemingly last forever while playing games really well.
iPads are not meant to replace your Laptop. And all the add ons to give you a “laptop feel” is just ways they get you to spend more money.
You're wrong. Ipads are not laptop replacement only so apple can make more money.
@@michalrv3066 That's the obvious, its a business. It's two different products for two different use cases.
Good review. It's frustrating how the charge so much for ipads yet so many basic features are missing.
Hi Ella, thank you very much for your detail m4 ipad pro review... just curious... any reason why we can't have macOS installed on an ipad? wouldn't that solve all these issues? i mean... both are M series CPUs... look forward to your advice on this... thx...
@@Krrishkumar23333 : Before talking about costs of getting both laptop and tablet... bringing both devices to lectures is a hassle... no offense, just impractical...
The fact you have more authenticity than more popular female UA-camrs(*cough*ijustine*cough)

this is not the praise you think it is
Tearing other people down to compliment someone is ugly
Our Ella is special don't compare her
Shut up.. lmao iJustine’s follower count is in the millions… first, you really think she’s gonna care what YOU think about her? But more importantly, iJustine’s in a completely different level than Ella is and you can’t compare oranges to apple.. lmao
Isn't the front camera a different location? Along the long side of the ipad so making the facetime/ zoom more optimal?
I use Galaxy tab s8
As a student, i think it's very great and not that expensive
Yeah, I purchased ipad pro 11 inch thinking it will be more portable and convenience. Turns out I always come back to laptop for convenience. Ipad now become an accessory and only sometime useful when Im not working at home.
I prefer laptop even when I'm outside
Finally, HONEST HONEST HONEST REVIEW!
And nooooo one commented that the browsing web is limited at the 60Hz on ipad pro……. I am pissed off! I ALMOST buy an ipad pro m2 and loose the new apple pencil pro feature that is so more nice for me that will buy my first ipad to change for a digital notaking, because i was listening that blablabla of 60Hz and face ID… oooh cool that you don’t have to move your finger to turn on you tablet but still needed that to open or close something in the apps of this tablet because the cursor does not work properly 🙄
This is a honest review
I’m going to keep it 100 a student using over a regular iPad or air is wild NGL I’m struggling to see how that would be a good ROI. The Mac book air argument as well. Apple strikes me to be like Porsche the 911 looks and is great and most people will be in awe but a 911 turbo S can be right next to you looking roughly the same but cost double the money. It only exists for people who want a tax write off or love to track. At 2000 for a iPad 11 with nano screen. I can’t say many people would need that ❤
Well done! Great review!
How does iPad's Stage Manager experience compare to Dex on Samsung Tab's, when you want to do multi-tasking and such 🤔
