I’m 45 and I’m a white guy that lives in the mountains of East Tennessee but I lived in many places as a kid growing up, Fayetteville North Carolina in the early 80’s till 85 when I was 7, then Raleigh for a year then on to live with my Dad in DC. Ended up back in the country for jr high and high school in Bristol VA. I said all that to say this. All of us who grew up back then were probably affected by in some type of way by drugs, like you saying that song was inspired by B.B on PCP. I think about now with how Fentanyl is killing so many people and I think about how many people that are my age that grew up with drugs around and can only imagine how many great people would’ve never made it to become singers, actors, rappers, athletes and well pretty much any other profession if that deadly crap was around back then. This came across my feed and my first thought was "A Geto Boys cover?" Then I clicked play.......This is absolutely amazing! Never ever would have thought back in the early 90's that one day I'd hear a jazzzy/bluesy cover of this song.

This touched my soul. Brought tears to my eyes. I’m a Houston native born and raised. I was jammin this all through my teenage years while also discovering Stevie Ray Vaughan. This is a beautiful blend of hip hop blues. Love how he emphasized a “god damnit” and “motherfucker” for good measure. Much love to The Ghetto Boys and Nether Hour!
They didn't just do a remix in a different genre. They put STANK on it. Turned hard-core O.G. rap into a work of art. Not rapping but singing the vocals. Throwing down the organ solo that beckons the call of the reefer smoke till its funk fills the room. At least...that's what happened here. This was done deliberately with diabolical intention, talent, and professionalism on a high level. Not corporate musicians churning out trending short ordered topics while their hot on demand to make a buck. Artists.

This was much more than that. Creativity, inspiration, and art don't come out of a tap. The group was paying homage to an icon. Ive had many, many days that made me wonder why or how I keep on going, keep trying, or even get out of bed. Today hit me like a -10 and I dont know how Ill overcome another period of such struggle.
But this cover grabbed my attention, suggested from an 808 heavy British rapper.
