HOW RIPE SHOULD BANANAS BE FOR BANANA BREAD?
Your bananas should be more brown than yellow and look like they’re ready to toss out. Basically they’re starting to liquify inside making them perfect for baking into your banana bread. If your bananas are not there yet don’t worry you can easily “ripen” them in 10 minutes using the steps below.
HOW DO YOU RIPEN BANANAS?
If you need to ripen bananas for a recipe like this banana bread just place them on a baking sheet and bake at 350F (177C) for about 10 minutes or until the skin blackens and the bananas are soft. Allow to cool a bit, then remove skin, transfer to bowl and mush up!
If you have some almost ripe bananas and a little time you can store them in a closed paper bag and the ethylene they naturally emit will ripen them at an accelerated rate.

i just made this recipe and omg i’ve always had trust issues with recipes posted on youtube cause usually when i make them it doesn’t turn out good at all but this one this one is so so good!! super easy to make and it’s delicious!! so soft and moist! i recommend this recipe 100%
Can't wait to try this recipe. So far all of his recipes I've tried have worked out great for me. Following his directions I've made perfect Italian buttercream frosting several times. I have to admit I absolutely love the marshmallow frosting the most. The texture is divine. Love all the helpful tips too. Like how to bake a cake with a flat top. Love his energy.
I made this banana bread last night, and I can assure you, that it is the best banana bread recipe I have ever made. It is delicious and so moist and fluffy!!!!. It definitely was a win in my house, my husband and his daughter loved it. Thank you for the recipe John. And by the way, I printed out the recipe from your blog, and it does not have a step to add the yogurt and the vanilla, I just guessed it was supposed to be after adding the eggs. Thank you.
Most amazing banana bread recipe! I added walnuts and chocolate chips to the batter and sprinkled walnuts on top and it was a great addition!

I had a few bananas that were going fast and your timing was perfect - loved the recipe and the bananas on top. I added some chocolate chips and it was one of the best banana breads I've had. Not too moist, just moist enough to enjoy without butter.

Hi, I came across your recipe yesterday and decided to try it today ( I make these regularly) . This was by far the moistest banana bread I’ve ever made. The touch of the sugared banana slices on top, HEAVENLY!!! The yogurt is what made the difference to the recipe I use which calls for 1 tbsp milk. I took the liberty of adding chocolate chips and increased the amount of flour to 2 cups. I also didn’t have nutmeg or all spice on hand and I honestly don’t think they were missed. A little tip for the fast ripening of the bananas if you want to save on time, is to microwave them for about 2-3 minutes on a dish with the peel on and you will get the same effect as putting them in the oven. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I freeze my bananas when they are overripe until I have enough to make banana bread I have some thawing out right now. Your recipe came just in time. I don't the exact same thing with my bananas, they freeze perfectly.
I made this and it turned out absolutely heavenly. Thank you so much for this recipe! I included whole wheat flour to make it just a little bit more healthy haha, not that it makes a huge difference. Had to add a little bit of water because the consistency of the batter with whole wheat was thick. I am in love with this recipe 💕

I made this yesterday and everyone loves it! I don’t like sweets so sweet lol so I reduce the sugar to 2/3 cup and substitute yogurt with sour cream because I’ve some in the fridge and it turned out perfectly moist and fluffy!
Also add using Sour Cream in Zucchini bread recipes make it beautifully moist 🤗

I freeze over ripe bananas until I have sufficient for a recipe - so there's no need to throw out the odd black one!
A sliced banana bread/cake is perfect in the freezer too as you can just take a slice when you want one - great for those of us who are single and without will power when it comes to cakes!
