You saved my a$$ today with this video Dave! I remembered watching this exact video after I bought my new 2019 Jeep Wrangler 6+ months ago. Had the oil changed today (~6+ hrs ago) at a trusted “local” mechanic shop (I try to be loyal to small, local owners businesses). Anyway, I picked up the Jeep, & sprayed oil the entire way down the freeway heading home till I realized it was me making the blue smoke. I pulled over into a shopping center & called a tow truck. It was an oily mess.. I followed your instructions to the tee, & even the tow truck driver was impressed, he had no idea how to disengage the transmission. Thank you!!!! 🙏
hey david thx for the great work u did on my truck a couple weeks ago,u are truly the best at what u do,i wouldn't trust my vehicle to anyone else.u always take pride in ur work thx again
Another great MCM vid. Knob on dash or push button shifters- Mopar/Chryco always tries to get around stick shifts. But one thing remains the same...drivers fail to understand that P or PARK on a transmission shifter only "parks" the transmission. It is not engineered to imobilize the vehicle. The handbrake/'E'brake is the device that safely holds a vehicle stationary when the vehicle is parked. Driving 101 teaches this on Day One. I'm surprised auto makers don't have a buzzer and/or light to enforce this. Fully loaded 1 ton PU attached to a fully loaded tandem trailer parked on a steep grade with only the transmission in PARK/P position is a fatality waiting to happen. Best to you and yours.
You are correct. Very few people seem to use it ever. I can tell each time I get into a vehicle to pull it in the shop. I might see one engaged 1-2 times a week at the most out of 10-15 cars a day. Thanks for watching Ray and for the comment. Try to enjoy the weekend
Great video, I learned that you can use the roof of a bird house to chuck the tire, lol. When the new diesel comes in on the Ram, can you do a video on it, show us where the fuel filters are and can it use bio diesel fuel here in the Midwest.
Your right. We have a 2019 Chrysler 300 and the transmission shift knob is weird. I miss having a stick shift or something that makes me feel like I'm in control. (ha ha) The bird house was classic.

People go crazy when you take away their shifters lol. Trust me....I have read all the comments on the Ram shifter override.....they get mad! lol. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
@@MotorCityMechanic people just hate change, but change is something that is good. And the jeep lacks storage. The shifter could be placed on the steering column too to make more storage.

I took a 2019 Wrangler with 4700 miles on it, for a test srive. Left dealer parking lot, started slowing for a red light. Transmission downshifted real hard, so....I pulled on shoulder and told salesman to drive back. He said it was just a freak thing, they will look into it. I said no thanks on the deal, and left the dealership. I've had 3 phonecalls from the salesman claiming they got it taken care of. If I'm still interested, they will knock some $$$ off for me. Electronically shifted transmissions are nothing new. Other manufacturers are doing it as well - people don't often realize it, especially if a normal looking shifter is put in the console like in this Wrangler.
Glad they kept the shift lever when they introduced the 8 speed electric shift to Jeeps. I guees I will have to keep my 2012 300 until they bring back the shift lever and ditch that radio knob shifter like they did the dash mounted push button automatics in the early 60's!
They have brought it back in a few vehicles like the Durango. I think we will see more.....when the people speak, they usually listen. Thanks Kevin for watching! Make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
I actually had to use this the other day when my Jeep locked up in a busy road. I was unaware of this feature. Luckily the officer that came to assist me knew . Only problem I have now is that after it was moved and towed I’m not sure if it got set back into place correctly. Will this cause any issues
I am totally IMPRESSed and thankful that you provide your knowledge and experience with these Videos. If I may ask a question not related to this video but related to a 3.6L 2013 charger. The question is about oil pressure at the beginning of the turn on. I noticed that when the engine is first turned on the climbs up to 75-80 psi. and then it comes down to 25-35. Is this typical and if it is why does it do this. Is this some how controlled by some computer system? Thanks again and keep up the great Videos

When it comes to features like this and every vehicle having different options.....I like to do a "one size fits all" type format. What I mean by that is those Jeeps that are 2WD. Also......its a pain in the rear some days to get the t-case in neutral....feels like I am about to break the handle off....got to let the vehicle roll just a bit to get it to easy move and remember the shifter wont move to let us. It can be done but for some people......I would say women but thats not the case most times..... it will be difficult. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
