HOW TO Replace the Main and Auxiliary Battery on a Jeep JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator Truck

- Having your Jeep battery die really isn’t that big of a deal, especially if you have a set of jumper cables handy and another vehicle near by that's willing to help out. But, what do you do if you're out in the middle of nowhere and all alone? That just happened to Cindy and I and if you can believe it, on our Jeep JL Wrangler that's only about two years old! Fortunately, we did have our super compact, Type S Jump Starter with us and that was able to get us going again. However, once we got home, we discovered that our battery still wasn't holding a charge or at least, not enough to fire up the engine. All the lights worked, the radio played, windows opened and closed and even the dash lit up just fine - there just wasn't enough juice to get it to get it to crank.
Well, as some of you may or may not know, the Jeep JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator Truck WITHOUT e-Torque will have two batteries under the hood - a large traditional size battery that's used for cranking the engine and a smaller auxiliary one that powers everything else, including a relay that connects the two batteries together for cranking. Needless to say, even if your main battery wasn't dead, you could still have problems starting your engine if your auxiliary battery is dead or dying. I should note that we were actually seeing strange messages on the dash EVIC including one for, Aux Switches being temporarily disabled due to "Battery Charging" and another saying, "Service Shifter". So, when it comes time to replace one, you're more than likely going to need to replace both and for us, we decided to use the opportunity to upgrade our main battery to an Odyssey. I wish we could have upgraded our auxiliary one too but there really isn't a whole lot to choose from and so I just got a Super Start Platinum AGM battery (Group Size 400 SSB AUX14) from my local O'Reilly Auto Parts Store. In this video, you'll get to see just how easy it is to replace the main battery AND what all you'll need to do to replace the auxiliary one. We hope it helps you out.

Man, I don't even own a Jeep, but you have to be one of the best instructors on UA-cam. Great work
Thank you. I'm genuinely flattered that you'd say as much.
agreed supradav403. i want a Jeep now after watching the Wayalife videos. He makes me think I can do it and im a moron when it comes to cars/ trucks.
I agree, he is fabulous. Get this, I used his instructional video to help me install a metal cloak lift on my JL even though he was installing a lift of a different brand. And yet his video was more helpful than the manual from Metal Cloak.
This guy is my jeep bible
was jus thinking i cant be the only one who specifically look for his instructional videos haha
I’m a 56 yr old lady and was able to change the batteries following this video. Thank you !
That is awesome! Glad we could be of help to you.
What an incredibly helpful and well-made video! THANK YOU! My dealership wanted almost $800 to do this -- using subpar batteries, no less. I bought the AUX you installed for 129 at O'Reilly, and I got an Interstate H6 from Costco for 169. You saved me almost $500! As a small token of thanks, I just bought some merch on your bonfire store ... and you've made a lifelong fan. Thanks again!
Awesome! Happy to hear our video was helpful and that it saved you some money 👍
I just now had to do the replacement for my 2020 JLU sport with 70k miles. Been reading on the forums everyone is saying not to go through the top through the fuse box but from below through the fender skirt and to order extra Mopar fasteners because they will snap. I followed this video precisely and it was a sinch. Got it done in 20 minutes! Thanks Eddie!
Glad to hear our video was helpful to you and that it only took about 20 minutes to do. That's about how quick I did it as well.
Beautifully produced video. Very clear and easy to follow steps explaining a cumbersome process of removing and replacing batteries on my Gladiator. Could not have done it without these tips!
Glad it was helpful!
That is a really dumb design for that second small battery
LOL - not exactly the easiest thing to get to, that's for sure.
Yeah. It sucks. When I was changing mine out and tightening the last bolt on the battery I accidentally touched the other terminal with the socket wrench arcing the terminals and fried the row of fuses for another $60 out the door.
@@ProficientEnough ouch
What a pain..!! Yeah just keep taking bolts off, and Dickinson with the terminal plugs for the fuses..?! Every fuse..?? I can see where this will cause more problems....geez
The engine bay is very tight i am sure they had no other room.
The error codes you mentioned in the end of the video are so important. I wouldn’t have thought that the batteries needed replacing but it makes sense. Great job, Eddie!
Glad I could be of help with this video :)
With so many things yet to do to my JL, I can always count on you to explain a repair or modification in DIY'er terms. Love how you tell us what tools we'll need, what sizes and recommendations for parts and accessories you like, tried and tested. Thanks again for another great video!
Awesome, so glad that our videos are helpful to you. 😎
Yes, the knowing the wrench sizes in advance does really help. I watched twice and noted all wrench sizes, it made the job go much smoother. Your mechanical how-to videos are great!
This was an extremely helpful, thank you!! I just went through this exact process in my 2020 JLUR and you made it a lot more bearable - ha
The only thing I might add is, I went around and made sure all of the fuses were seated good - as some had gotten a little lose when I re-installed the fuse tray onto the plugs.
Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Glad it helped!
Absolutely the best instructional video for any automotive replacement I have ever seen. Thank You Very Much!
Happy to hear you found our video to be useful :)
Eddie, again, I want to thank you for this video. Swapping the batteries from above became an extremely manageable endeavor for me thanks to you, in what I'm sure, knowing me, would have been a "train wreck" without such guidance.
It was such a pleasure to know that before I began, that I had every tool I needed already out, not the least of which being an E6 reverse torx bit to swap the ESS battery's terminal studs.
Please know that I have ordered the electric torx wrench that I've always wanted from your sponsored link as the least I could do.
Awesome! So happy to hear our video was helpful to you 👍
Had the famous A-hole light come on on my 20 JLU, and with your help swapped out the batteries, and Wala all fixed. Thank you for the detailed directions, it definitely helped!
Awesome! So glad that our video was helpful to you.
OMG the Dog Ripley! I wanted to see her rip into the new toy. Great how too video. Even replacing batteries is a pain now. Oh well, at least much of the vehicle is still old school. At least compared to many new vehicles. That tiny jump starter is incredible. I have looked into similar but haven't seen one that small. I am blown away that it works. Great addition to anyone who travels or really anyone who drives. great video!!!
Thank you and we're so glad you enjoyed the video :)
As always, fantastic and very informative video... with each video I gain more and more confidence working on my rig
Thank you
Awesome, so glad to hear it and glad that we've been able to help you out :)
Just did this with mine. Pretty easy with these clear instructions. Thanks. I wouldn't bother going the under the fender route for the auxilary battery.
Happy to hear our video was helpful to you 😎
Outstanding video. Super informative and your procedures and explanations are the best I ever seen. I own a gladiator and they seem to have a lot of problems with the auxiliary battery on which even the dealership hates to deal with. I thank you for your time and awesome video...you make it look so easy hahaha. Thanks again..also at the end of your commentary you are absolutely right my gladiator was doing all of the above including malfunctioning of the start/stop function. Thanks God bless 🙏
Awesome! So glad to hear our video was helpful to you and really, it is that simple to swap out. We literally filmed this video in real time meaning, it only took about 15 min to swap out both batteries. 👍
This was spot on. First time replacing either battery, let alone both. It happened just as it did in the video. Thank you so much. You saved me time, worry, and money that I would have paid to the dealership.
Awesome! So glad that our video was helpful to you.
Eddie, I know this video is a year old but you saved me a bunch of time. I didn't even have to hunt for tools! Thank you for what you do!!
Awesome! So glad to hear we were able to help you out with this video. 😎
Beautiful border collie puppy! I have a 7 year old border collie that came to our house together with a male border collie, both appear full breed, as strays one night. My daughter kept the male and we kept the female. They are the best dogs ever! So loving and affectionate!! Never seen any other dogs like them!
Ripley is our second Border Collie. After we lost Tessa, I didn't think I could do it again but then Cindy convinced me we needed another and yes, they are simply the best.
Thank you so much! I was able change my Auxiliary battery with your video! Loved each step and how detailed you were with all the sizes. Thank you so much again! Saved me hundreds! I also had a engine light on before and went right away after installed new AUX battery. It’s not hard at all, Thanks!
Awesome! So glad to hear our video was helpful to you 👍
You’re a legend brother, still love your videos. Really appreciate so much information you’ve shared with everyone!
LOL - you're too kind. So glad to hear the information we share is useful to you :)
Huge help!!!!! Followed your video perfectly to remove everything from my Jeep Gladiator with no damage. Will follow through after I buy new batteries for the follow up. So far so good!
Awesome! So glad that our video was helpful to you.
Thank you! Yesterday I didn’t even know my Wrangler JL had an auxiliary battery and that it would be so difficult to get to. Today, I replaced both batteries and everything is working. So glad that I didn’t have to go to the dealer and pay the big $$$. Great Vid! The detailed info makes all the difference. Keep Jeepin.
Awesome! Happy to hear our video was helpful to you 👍
THANK YOU!!!! My husband can usually fix anything but he's the type to just tear in and get it done and I'm the type to calmly read the manual (or watch the video!) and this video saved our Sunday! He was bloody knuckled and swearing for an hour trying to get new aux battery in meanwhile I simply said "Hey, are you sure that's the right way because this dude in this video has the metal thingys to the left and you have mine to the right..." That's how we figured out he was given the wrong battery at the parts store! Exchanged the battery and I made him watch the whole thing start to finish and we got it done! THANK YOU!!!!!
LOL - that is awesome! We really do appreciate you sharing your story with us and we're so happy to hear that our video was helpful to you. 👍
We are lucky here in Australia with the right hand drive. The main battery is on the other side and the auxiliary battery is sitting underneath it. We don’t even have to touch the fuse box to change these battery. I tried by passing the auxiliary battery by pulling the fuse 42 and disconnecting the black lead to the auxiliary battery, but caused strange things to happen.
Eddie, thanks for this video! I lost remote start, even though it was still under warranty, I decided to replace the battery with a better aftermarket battery. I hadn't lost the ability to start the jeep, it just didn't have enough ummph to remote start.
Glad to hear our video was helpful to you! 👍
Great video Eddie, thanks for the step by step...can always rely on you to show us how its done...Ripley is too adorable
So glad that the video was helpful to you and glad you enjoyed seeing Ripley :)
The best instructional video yet seen on UA-cam. Well done, Sir. My Jeep Wrangler is a week old (but is a 2020 model) and wouldn't start yesterday. Big letter 'A' shows in the speedo display. Figured its been sitting in the car lot for a year of more and batteries might be stuffed. Will try and get the dealer to replace the both of them. Thanks again.
Flatter that you would say as much and I hope your dealership is able to help you out.
Thank you so much for the time and energy spent on this video. Came across too many that said "It says there is a second battery, I think it is this way but not sure". Watched this one time and headed out to get the batteries. Great work and thank you so much!!
Glad it was helpful!
Another awesome video! The best step by step tutorials- thanks for doing what you do!
Thank you. We're so glad you find our videos to be helpful :)
First great video Eddie. This is for all other's be careful when removing the 2 main battery posts. The auxiliary battery is still connected in line with system for JL's and JT's. You can get a multi-meter and read the positive and negative posts after disconnected and still get 12VDC. The aux battery runs the Electronic Start/Stop system. You can even get in with main battery posts disconnected and start your engine with key FOB nearby. I remove the aux battery posts off the firewall. Replacing the stock AGM batteries with better after market ones like Eddie did should get you 2 to 3 times the life then stock. Great job. Love seeing vids of the puppy growing up.
Sorry for the ignorance here, but you posted that as a warning without explaining what the concern/threat is? He didn't seem to take any precautions, just removed the post, removed that battery, then went on to removing the aux. So what should I be concerned with?
I just changed the aux battery on our 2018 JLU; this excellent video made the project go without any WTF moments at all. Thanks for putting it up.
Awesome! So glad to hear we were able to help you out with this.
Awesome video, very clear and easy to follow. Just swapped the battery on my wife’s JL. Thanks!
Awesome! So glad our video was helpful to you.
This was perfect. Took me about an hour and no surprises. Really well done instructions. Thanks.
Awesome! So glad that our video was helpful to you :)
Great video. I love when someone takes the time to not only show the how...but adds in things like the socket sizes you'll need. This video made this job a breeze. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Socket size was a BIG HELP!!!!
I couldn’t agree more, well said! Knowing everything ahead of time, especially the exact tools needed, is definitely priceless. Extremely helpful - made the task of replacing these so much smoother! I’m very appreciative.
Great video and thank you. Never knew the JL had a 2nd battery. Was able to purchase one and your perfect instructions saved me a lot of money. Thank you for calling out the metric socket sizes.
Glad I could help :)
You don’t realize how great it is that you have the same year Jeep as me, instructions are exactly step by step for me. Thank you again
Awesome! So glad to hear our video was helpful to you.
I wanna say thank you for showing me this method ! I literally got it done in 45 minutes .
Dodge Dealership cost $ 200 (battery ) $250 (labor )
Me doing the work thanks to your video for guidance
$120.00 (battery) at autozone
(45 minutes of labor )
Saved over $350 dollars !!!!
YOU DA MAN !
Awesome! So glad that our video was helpful to you 👍
Thank you so much for a great video, I think I can handle this myself now. You’re a great instructor!!!
Awesome! Glad we could be of help to you! 👍
Outstanding!
Had eerily similar electrical issues going on. Thought it was the main battery. Didn't know about the aux battery. Cost a pretty penny at the dealer. Dealer mechanic explained the same thing. Aux battery failure can cause mayhem on your panels and more.
Thank you for the video. Now I know what to do in the future and can save the cost at the dealer!
Glad to hear our video will be of help to you in the future.
I know this is a 2 yo video, but thank you for it. My wife's 2020 JLU wouldn't start the other day. I had no clue what to do. I saw this video, but the auxiliary battery, and then followed the directions in the video. I'm proud to say, the Jeep now works. 👍👍👍
That is awesome and I'm glad to hear our video was helpful to you and that your Jeep is working again.
One of the best instructional videos I've seen on here. Not only made the nightmare of swapping out my aux battery about as easy as it could be, but also helped reassure me that the screwy readouts and behavior of my jeep wasn't something worse!! A+++
Awesome. So glad that you found our video to be helpful. :)
I just replaced both batteries on our 2018 JLUR yesterday. It was a breeze. I wouldn't have attempted it myself without the help of this video. Thanks Eddie!
Great to hear! So glad that we were able to help you out :)
gotta ask. how much was the Aux battery and is Jeep the only place to buy one ?
This is the third different video I had to watch. I should have stayed work yours. You got me ask the way through the process without making me feel dumb. Than you very much for being as detailed as needed for a shadetree mechanic to get it done!!!
Glad to hear our video was helpful to you.
That has to be the most difficulty I have seen you have in any of the videos of yours I have watched. Glad you did this video to allow us to learn beforehand. The puppy vids are always awesome!
Glad it was helpful!
Yikes!! the “J” in the JL must stand for Jigsaw puzzle. I like my Jk even more after watching this video. Thank you for another great video Eddie.
Every-time I watch your videos I want to get in the Jeep and go for a ride.
LOL - awesome, so glad to hear it!
Excellent video and so well explained. Now I can feel a lot more confidence getting at the aux battery. Thank you
Awesome! Glad our video was helpful to you 👍
Thanks for this video. You're an awesome resource for the community. And give non-mechanically inclined the confidence that they don't have to fear some of the basics
Really happy to hear you found our video to be helpful and confidence building :)
Great video! We tow our 2020 JLU Diesel and live full time in our motorhome. When something stops working (like batteries) it’s often a huge pain to make an appointment at a dealer for something that may be under warranty BUT you just can’t wait for an appointment on their schedule! Was glad to see your symptoms were the same as mine and it's what convinced me to jump in and deal with the PIA of digging for that second AUX battery! (Fortunately, while diggibng out the main battery, I found out that in the Diesel the AUX battery sits in a compartment just under the main battery!!!) No fuse box removal and pretty actually pretty straight forward! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos! (Any chance you’ve found a firewall mount location for that ARB air compressor on the Diesel yet? ; ) Cheers!
Awesome! So glad to hear our video was helpful to you. Trying to get my hands on a diesel to figure things out.
This is exactly the comment I was looking for, my JLU diesel, noted the fuse box and air filter system are in different positions than Eddie’s, noted the auto start on and off says battery charging and aside that, no warning ⚠️, the main battery read 14v in the main screen, My Rubicon is a tank that can get me everywhere but if I am in the middle of nowhere without a jump starter, it is useless if the car does not start
Thanks for another fantastic, clear and engaging video Eddie. You and your team really are good at what you do and weekend DIYers like me really appreciate your willingness to share the process. Quick question: Does the AUX battery have a specific size/group number or are they universal?
The Group Size 400. Or at least, that was what it was at Orielly.
As of Dec 2022, two batteries came up at my local O'Reilly's computer: AUX 12 and AUX 14. I wasn't sure which it was so I went home to do some more internet research and found it's the AUX 14 with 200 cranking amps. AUX 12 has 180 cranking amps and is this not correct but will fit in the space.
I wish all HOW TO videos are UA-cam were this great. You provided all the right information quickly and simply. The job was super easy!
Glad it was helpful and humbled that you would say as much. Thank you.
What about the torque specification? Seems to be the only thing missing! Great video
Great video! It made our changing the AUX14 battery so easy! Thank you Eddie and Cindy!
Thank you my friend! So glad the video was helpful to you 👍
you're telling me they have all those bloody engineers and not one person to come up with something that is simpler to do and put together than that
LOL - maybe it was someone's idea of a bad joke :)
You can change the axillary battery from underneath the left fender flare
Hahaha...That’s right Ripley, you show that bird who’s the boss!
LOL - glad you enjoyed the clip :)
Thanks. This is helpful. I was even able to get the clip under the positive terminal back on. I bought the Odyssey AGM-14 to replace the small battery. The only difference from your instructions was that I had to remove a plastic spacer under the small battery cover. As an alternative, it probably could have been cut down, but I didn't think it was that important. The spacer is made to just slide out.
Thanks again, Eddie. Who knew I can still learn a few things about batteries.
Glad we could be of help :)
I like how you made the rachet sounds match the music lol
LOL - glad you enjoyed the edit :)
Wayalife just want ask, does Jeep have a isolators been those two batteries?
Thank you so much for this video. Great job! Made changing my batteries pretty simple. One additional suggestion… Protect the main battery positive harness from accidentally grounding during the change out. Once the AUX battery is installed, the main battery positive lead becomes “hot”. (Call me Sparky.)
Awesome video. Clear instructions, socket sizes, tips, etc. I didn’t think getting at Aux battery thru fuse box was that tough, and almost seemed easier than the fender well approach some people do. That bungie cord tip was great! I did the same trick for holding back the three wire harness on the firewall side.
My findings…
1) the four wire harnesses that so nicely stayed in your tray or were easily pulled off for you, did not stay in my tray and instead were tightly attached to underside of my fuse panel. Yes, I had the four long screws fully detached from the harnesses. Pulling on the back of them just pulled off the colored back cover pieces, and I didn’t want to then pull by the wires. SOLVED: I found that tapping with a hammer or wrench handle on the top of those unscrewed long screws would push the harness off the bottom of fuse panel.
2) you mentioned the Odyssey Aux14 battery was what you would have preferred but couldn’t find. I did find that and bought it at first. The terminals on the Odyssey were not square/straight on 3 sides like the bent down sides of the Jeeps +/- terminal connectors need to attach flat and centered. I returned it and got Diehard Platinum and it looked completely identical in shape all over, to the Jeep original.
3) when re-assembling the fuse box, there is a satisfying snap as the lock tabs engage when pushing the top fuse panel onto the bottom tray and harnesses. So satisfying you might think you’re done and forget to actually screw back in those four long silver screws that snug up each harness. Well fyi… if that’s the case, then when you are all done, it won’t start…or didn’t for me…and a sinking feeling will set in. Luckily I walked back thru the video versus what I remembered doing and figured it out. Those screws must either seat the harnesses all the way, or not ground something, until screwed in.
Again, really appreciate the video. Subscribed and will be checking out your other content!
Thank you Eddie, this video was a huge help in getting to me AUX battery in my 2018 JLUSS. I replaced mine with the dealer battery from Mopar, mostly because all other the 14-BS batteries on the market only have a 24 month warranty, where as the Mopar battery has a 36 month warranty, and I he cost was only $95.25, that actually cheaper that the Duracell 14-BS AGM battery that was around $150 at Batteries Plus. I also got a 60 month free replacement Series 94R-60 battery from Rural King, and that was $130. It has 750CCA at 0*, where as the stock only 700CCA at 0*. It's not much, but it's still better than what was in there before.
Awesome! So glad to hear that our video was helpful to you. 👍
I see you’re Making Garages Great Again. ‘MERICA🇺🇸🇺🇸
LOL - glad you approve :)
Everybody’s lost 10mm sockets keep finding their way to Eddie’s garage 😂
HAHAHA!! Too funny :)
Excellent video. I had no idea what a pain that auxiliary battery was, to get to. This helped immensely.
It's not exactly easy but it's not too bad. Glad we could be of help :)
This video made what I thought was a more difficult task EASY!!! Awesome step by step and perfect views and demos!!! Thank you for getting me going again! Freaking aux battery!!!!!
Glad it was helpful! 😎
that is really a stupid design by jeep. on my JL the 2.0 I4 doesn't have one of those, and i'm thankful for that lol!
Justin King I believe it’s under the Jeep
@@omargg9 the 48 volt pack is but there is only one 12v battery.
@@JustinKingOffroad im also happy i dont have this monster of a battery lol
I've learned a lot from this guy working on my Jeep. Nice off roading vids too. 🔥
Thanks 👍
I didn’t know about this. We have two JLs. This guy is very helpful. He has showed me how to do suspension lift, double cardan drive shafts, track bars, control arms, caster angles now the auxiliary battery that I didn’t even know existed. My jeep has gone through all of the changes I have just mentioned from his videos. Maybe I will just change the batteries even if they make it to 4 yrs. Thanks.
Really happy to hear our videos have been so helpful to you. I should note that this is mainly a thing with the 3.6L. If you have a 2.0L or etorque, you will not have this auxiliary battery.
@@wayalife Hi our jeeps are 3.6L. Went out and purchased a jump start battery. The one a purchased was quite expensive as I will get a few more cranks out of it if needed. Maybe one day it will save us. Cheers
Outstanding job - I was able to complete with your superb instruction without issue. I did have to buy a reverse star bit (E6) but who doesn’t like another tool purchase 😊 - thank you so much!
Awesome! So happy to hear our video was helpful to you.
I just wanted to comment that I used your video for reference on how to do this today. Was a great help and gave me some confidence for getting at the auxiliary battery. I also reset the IBS by removing all the negative cables from one another and letting the IBS sit by itself while I completed all the other steps. Thanks!
Awesome! Really happy to hear our video was helpful to you 👍
This video is so timely! I just installed a front camera with the Tazer Mini for my 2018 JLR. Go to start and nothing. Put the charger on the main battery and it reads 60%. If the main is at 60% the dreaded auxiliary battery must be dead 💀. Off to the parts store! Thanks for the jumper kit hat tip too. Great video!
Awesome! So glad that we could be of help to you!
Thank you for a very helpful and complete video. Well done! I was able to easily swap out both batteries on my JT today with your help. Thanks again!! 👍✌️
Awesome! Really happy to know that our video was helpful to you 👍
I just ordered my first Jeep (24 Rubicon X). Have been watching utube videos while I wait for it's arrival. You have some of the most informative and helpful videos. Thanks
Congratulations to you!! And, we're glad that you enjoy our videos.
Great that you showed how it goes without removing the cables on the side of the power center. Interestingly though, I recently watched a video that I happened across which shows replacement of both batteries, eliminating the secondary, and replacing with 2 Odyssey full size batteries. It was quite more involved, but you don't have the small one underneath. I think that will be what I'm going to install on both my Jl and Jt. Priced around 550.
Seems like a LOT of money just so that you don't have to replace the auxiliary battery in the future. But, to each their own. I personally didn't think it was that bad to do and I saved a lot of money :)
Completed my Jeep Auxiliary Battery Replacement, "2020 Rubicon Unlimited" thank you so much for your video. Very Helpful. 😊
Awesome! Glad it helped 👍
Great video - just replaced the batteries on my 2020 JT and followed step-by-step. Thanks for making such an easy to follow video - will for sure check out the rest of your stuff. Thanks!
Happy to hear our video was helpful to you 👍
Thank you SO much for the easy to follow video! I was able to successfully replace my daughters dead battery in her Jeep Wrangler!! Again, thank you!
Awesome! So glad to hear our video was able to help you out. 👍
Well, I changed my aux battery, got it all back together, and everything works correctly! Thank you very much for doing this video!
Awesome! Glad our video was helpful to you 👍
Great video Eddie! I don't own a Jeep, but I like watching you work!!!!!! LOL! Thanks for the Ripley clip! Cute!
Why thank you. So glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video. Just finished changing both batteries in my Gladiator. The step by step instructions make it easy to follow.
Awesome! Happy to hear our video helped out 👍
Honestly this has to be the best explanation video I’ve seen thank you so much for all the details and step by step
Glad it was helpful to you :)
Hey just wanted to drop a note thanking you for putting out a very simple, straightforward video to replace the Aux Battery...just completed my swap out this morning...super easy after watching your video...especially using a bungee cord to keep the stuff out of the way...Keep up the great content.
Really happy to hear our video was helpful to you.
Good stuff to know, thanks. Always good to see Ripley!
You bet! Glad we could be of help :)
This youtuber makes me DYI on my Wrangler JL even during the Jeep warranty period. Very good explanation !!

LOL - thank you and we're so glad you enjoyed the video :)
When I need to wrench on my JT. I always come here to see what I need to do "Before" I dig into it. Your videos are way better than the Shop Manuals!!!
Thank you. I was struggling with the positive lead and couldn't figure out what I was missing. I also had no idea where my auxiliary battery was located. What was going to be a quick battery replacement just became longer, lol. I'm so glad I found your video. It's probably my auxiliary since it's been sitting.
Glad to hear our video was able to help you out.
Thank you! I used this video to change out both batteries on my daughters 2018 JL. You saved me a ton of time 🙏
Glad it helped 👍
Since my dad forced me to be his free jeep mechanic I recently needed to install his replacement Aux battery so your video was a great help thanks again.
LOL - glad that our video was helpful to you :)
Thank you so much for this video Eddie! Unfortunately, my jeep JLU got the Service Start/Stop. Bought it in 2019, Aux battery gave up in 2020. Dealership replaced it under warranty. And now I got the dreaded service alert .
I will call up the dealership and if they will do warranty, good. If not, I’ll do this route.
Thank you and more power!
Changed my Aux Batt today...as always, your instructions are to the point! Thank you!!!
Glad it helped!
I’ve sent my JLU to the shop twice over this, but with your video I will now save a ton of money. Please tell your friend at FSA that the sales team should do a daily Three Stooges slap of the engineering managers at the start of every work day.
LOL - Glad to hear our video will be helpful to you and in the defense of my friends at Jeep, they just do what they're told to do.
Great information! I read about a second battery in my manual (eco- diesel) while browsing, didn’t read entire paragraph. Looked for it under the hood and thought it strange there wasn’t 2 batteries. Now I know, thank you for the great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I followed it step-by-step to replace both batteries on our 2018 JLU Sahara (3.6L gas). Took about 1.5 hours to complete.
Awesome! So glad that our video was helpful to you.
You should be on TV!!! So good, so interesting, very good at explaining the details. Also love your pup! That was too funny!
LOL - truly flattered that you would say as much. Thank you.
You are absolutely one of the best at creating instruction videos!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH

Wow what a pain in the butt.
I didn't even know about that auxiliary battery. This video will certainly come in handy for many do it yourself guys for years to come. Thanks Eddie

I'm about to tackle this job myself. Thanks for posting this video. 🤘

Just replaced the battery again, what a bad location for a battery. @@wayalife
