2005 Frontier Shift Cable Bushing Replacement

If you suddenly cannot shift your Frontier into any gear, your shift cable bushing may have broken and your shift cable has became unhooked from your shift knob/handle. This happened to me in the parking lot of my job when I attempted to go home one night. I knew what had happened since the very same thing happened to my Son a few months prior. I show in this video how to take the console partially apart to not only allow manual operation of the shift cable to allow you to operate the vehicle, but also how to replace the bushing and put everything back together.

Dude! You rock...pro tip on top of his pro tips...use the paint can opener to push the shift handle clip off from the dash side; pops right out, just keep your hand ready so it doesn't fall into the shifter/console housing.

Removing the large gear knob is the game changer. Had my small O ring pick. Came out in 2 seconds.

how did you get the cable to extend all the way to drive. Mine is stuck in the park position and I tried pulling but it doesnt want to extend.

This is great stuff, Something a Crooked Mechanic or Ripoff Dealer would charge you a couple of hundred dollars to do and then give you a song and dance on how difficult it was and how much work is involved. 🥱 🎻
