Old Titan quit in a parking lot just now...watched your video..cable bushing in truck broke...two wire ties...back on the road in 15 minutes...thank you, Sir.
Thanks bro your a life saver. I was stuck in my son school parking lot after picking him up from school when this happened. I pop this video up and held the cable and drove my kid home and pick up the part to fix this problem. Thank you so much.
Thank God for this video. 1/4 of the way moving to another state this went out on me and I had no idea what to do. I thought i would be stranded. Thanks to this video i am able to continue my journey!
Thank you so much. This same thing happened to my husbands truck. We didn't know what to do and your video was so helpful. My husband fixed it temporarily just to get home, thankfully we were close to it
Thank you for posting this video. Wouldn't have even known where to start troubleshooting. Bushing went out in gear selector. It took all of 5 minutes to find because of your video.
Great video. After losing a bushing in the holes below, I threaded a thin cord with a key ring tied on one end through the bushing, and then through the shift cable end. This allowed me to draw it up to the cable end and squeeze it in without losing it.
Thank you, I got stranded and was able to do a temporary fix to make it home. I clearly saw what I was dealing with and what to look for because of this video so thank you again.
Just did this for a 06 Nissan Frontier. I'm glad you did not say it's as easy as 123. It's kinda hard when your second guessing and don't really what your doing, and might break something. Anyway got it done with the help of your video. I appreciate that, and keep those videos coming.
Thank You Very Much !!!! You saved me money and time! I was in the middle of no were having this issue and because of your video I solved it in 5 minutes and I managed to get my family back home!!! Thx man!!!!
WOW!!! THANK YOU, FOR DOING THIS VIDEO!! I HOPE THAT I NEVER HAVE ANY SUCH ISSUES, BUT, IT'S GREAT TO BE MADE AWARE OF ANY POTENTIAL ISSUES, AND HOW TO APPROACH THE REPAIRS.... GREAT JOB!!! "BRAVO!! = HERO!!!"....
Thanks, man! First one I've watched: too funny: last night late, I too was stranded in a parking lot on property I serve; blocking the dumpsters which will be emptied tonite; with a tfull trailer on my 2009 Titan, which has shift lever on the wheel unlike this one; crawled under to get my shirt dirty last nite w/ cell phone as a flashlight but I'm more confident now I can fix this this AM, b4 I block semi trying to deliver to Dollar General or something! - well, long-suffering wife rescued me last nite; back into her car to try to fix this. May look at one featuring a steering column mounted shift lever too; but very complete discussion!
👌just replaced mine today. Only place I found that little part was online. None of the auto part stores carried it for my 06 Titan and the dealership sells it with the cable for $60. Got what I needed online for $30.
Thanks for the video! I got stranded in the grocery store parking lot and zip tie rigged it to get home. I order the bushing from amazon $28, and went to do a proper fix the next day. I dropped the bushing trying to get it in place, and lost it. I ended up w/ the zip tie fix. ):
My 2006 Nissan Titan is parked in my drive, and won't shift out of park either! It feels exactly like this, and I'm betting in my case it's the bushing! Thank you SO much, will take a look and see!
It did happen to me yesterday while in the road. I thought it was a huge problem because in my mind it might damage the whole engine parts. Thankfully, there are 2 men who helps me a lot and checked it under. They made a temporary wire to attached or tighten its connection. They advised me to buy bushing for a replacement.
another symption is one you put in park and try to start again, it will not start unless you jiggle the shifter ( p->N->P) or put in N. this almost acts like a bad neutral safety switch. the problem is since the bushing fell out but its still on the linage the extra space is causing an issue that when you got to park it , it thinks it is in Reverse. This was on a 2001 maxima with a RE4F04B transmission
I’m sorry if I’m missing this someplace in the video or in the comments… But just purchased a Nissan titan from the auction with the same issue and I am wondering if you have the nut size and thread information?
I have a 2nd gen Ram 1500 5-speed trans that runs and shifts great. I park it in gear of course, but I have a 5-year old who accidentally brushes up against the shifter sometimes getting out and pops it out of gear, so I have to use the E-brake when she's around. Why is it so easy to push the shifter out of gear without using the clutch? This is true when I'm out on the highway too. I just barely push the shifter in any gear (haven't tried it in reverse) and it pops right out into neutral. However, it never pops out of gear on its own, so it works fine. I just don't understand why I can just barely push the lever without using the clutch and pop it into neutral. Thanks.
Having this same problem so this may be a crazy question but my truck is having this same issue so my truck does start right up so I can assume that the transmission is in the park position?
I have a 2008 Nissan titan LE with the same center shifter problem. No one in my area sells just the bushing only sell the whole cable. Where did you purchase just the bushing?
Amazon has them which is no surprise. They seem to have more than most department stores and cheaper. The part is called shifter cable bushing cost me $10.
Happened to me a few days ago just now saw the video I was able to fix it with a piece of a plastic applicator my wife had in the truck seems to work fine will replace with the proper part soon
my shifter feels loose going in-between neutral and drive, It's almost like it skips over neutral and goes straight to drive if I don't push the shifter to the side a little, do you think mine could have the same problem as this ?
Wish I saw this video my pathfinder cable broke on the shifter it was the bushing cost me 718.00 at the dealership they said they don't have the bushing so they had to replace the hole cable crazy

Thanks! This worked on my infiniti QX56
Thank you so much. This same thing happened to my husbands truck. We didn't know what to do and your video was so helpful. My husband fixed it temporarily just to get home, thankfully we were close to it

Yep stuck in a parking lot. I appreciate your time making this video. 5 minutes later I was headed down the road.

You can still turn the car on wtf.
Glad I found this video! Would have been stranded at the parking lot. Was able to avoid a tow, hold the rod in place and then order the part. Thanks!

Glad to hear that! Thank You.
Best video I’ve seen so far, like how you showed the best way to install the bushing and install it on the pin. 😊
Thanks for the video!! Same thing happened to me stranded at store one cold evening. But gone in about 5 minutes thanks to this video
Great video. That is what happened to my Titan. Looks like an easy fix.
👌just replaced mine today. Only place I found that little part was online. None of the auto part stores carried it for my 06 Titan and the dealership sells it with the cable for $60. Got what I needed online for $30.
What website did you use to get the part? I have the same issue

How well did the zip tie method work Kyle harrel?
Great video, about to tackle this issue on a coworkers 2008 Nissan armarda after work today. I’ll update you

Hello, I've 2007 vette. Has exactly samething happened. What you think mechanic should charge?
What size nut was it? iv tried 10 different ones and cant get it right
Did you find the size?
Does the 2006 titan have thread on the transmission shifter? Don’t remember seeing thread on it.
eric gomez yes the top shifter knob is threaded on, the shifter itself is not, thanks for watching!
APDTY I meant the one on the bottom where the shifter cable goes to the transmission
Thanks
Do you have a link for Nissan Altima 2008

Great video 👍

Wish I saw this video my pathfinder cable broke on the shifter it was the bushing cost me 718.00 at the dealership they said they don't have the bushing so they had to replace the hole cable crazy

You wouldn't remember the thread pitch of the castle nut would ya?
12 by 1.25 with nylon locker
lol use dorman part number 14055 less then 4$ on amazon and does the exact same job.
I looked it up advance auto database tells me this part willnot fit. Will try anyway.
@@moneygrip4464 it works trust me. this has now been used in many armada and titans including both of the ones we own.
@@th3drizzl378 oh yeah man tried it anyway and needed a pocket screwdriver and some silicone grease a squeeze from some pliers and worked perfectly
Where can i buy the Bushing
Eduardo Ruiz just under the video in the description is a link that will take you to Amazon for this exact part
Shift Cable Linkage Bushing Repair: amzn.to/2ooLh4G
Mine broke my mechanic is saying he can't get wires back in hole what is he talking about had my car 2 days
Where can I purchase this bushing?
amzn.to/2ooLh4G
What is the mm size of the castle nut?
Did you find out?
Real deal holly field
Why go thru the trouble of drilling a hole when you could use a nylon locking nut? Or did you just have some old junk lying around the shop.
With using the cotter pin method, I'll never have to worry about the nut backing off again.
What size is the scew
Josh killz sorry but can’t remember anymore,
👌🏻 I already fix it
What size was it?
Thank you
