- How to drive home if your 2005 5006 5007 2008 2009 2010 Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder or Xterra's Gear Shift Cable broke off the shifter (common problem). If your Nissan frontier shifter suddenly moves back and forth freely. It's the grommet or other name is bushing (plastic round piece) connect the gear shift cable to the shifter's stud broke off. It's a well know problem. Here is a trick to drive your Nissan home. You can watch how to replace the bushing by search UA-cam for : Frontier Shift Cable Bushing Replacement. The bushing is cheap on Ebay or Amazon.

I’m do not normally comment on videos but your video got me out of a bad situation. This happened to my truck fright after I backup up onto the main highway. I was lucky enough to get into Neutral and get off the road. If I would not have found this video I would have had to leave my truck on the side of the road which could have been dangerous for people driving at night. Exactly what my problem was! Once I watched your video I went back to check my shifter and sure enough there were grommet fragments in the bottom of the housing and the cable was off. I'll name my first child after you! Thanks for sharing :D

Instead of taking the metal piece off the cable I just hooked it back in place. I still need to fix it of course but it doesn't fall off that easy.

Exactly the same problem, except that mine is at Drive gear and can't park, and I turned off the engine and can't restart it again because it stays at "D". It is a 2007 pathfinder, Going to try your method

What size grommet is required
You can get it from any autozones. Tell them your model. I used the zip ties for temporarily.
My cuzin abandoned his car in his driveway cuz of this its been like a year ima offer to buy it everyone else tells him its the transmission hahaha
