My husband was able to replace the grommet on our 2008 Nissan Frontier, thanks to this video! Thank you for a detailed video with step-by-step directions.
Hey, Roy. I had this problem at work today with my 2010 Frontier, and my girlfriend was able to stop by a parts store to get a grommet and came by the job and it took us about an hour to fix it. Hardest part was certainly getting the grommet into that loop, and then fitting the loop back on the shifter - those two things took the most time. Anyway, big time money saver so I am very grateful for you and your video. Big thanks!
Thank you for putting this video out. I have a 2005 Xterra and, one morning, it stopped going into gear. I opened up the gear shifter area and, like you said, the grommet was gone. I ordered one and it fixed the problem. I appreciate you sharing this with everyone!
Thank you Mr. Roy,... I put mine in reverse, backed out, put it in forward and it kept backing up, couldn't get it to park either, frantic, I cut the truck off, and it wouldn't crank, found your video on google, after figuring it might be the shift cable, and your video makes it easily doable,.. Thanks again!
Thank you Roy … I now able to repair my Nissan Pathfinder 2008, a lot of time and money will be saved by following your video. Thank you very much and wish you all the best
You sir saved my day AND my wallet!!! 2007 Pathfinder and this happened while I was pulling my pontoon boat to the lake! Due to your video I was able to get it apart and hold the cable on with my finger to get it back home. Will be ordering the kit today. THANK YOU! You now have one more subscriber.
Thank you so much for this video! My father used it to replace the grommet, which saved us tons of money we thought we'd have to spend on the transmission. Such helpful step-by-step instructions. Again, thank you so much!
Super helpful video was able to fix it in less than 45 minutes. biggest issue was losing the grommet under the shifter and the tool breaking. luckily a flathead did the trick. big thank you!
Thanks so much Roy!! Literally after a few days of buying a used Frontier, I got stuck on Park!😱 Was freaking out bad till I saw your video and learned to fix it! Used a metal wire for now till I get the bushing:)
I'll be home for Christmas! Christmas Eve 2021, I couldn't start my 2014 Navara D40. My gear was stuck in Reverse. Watched your video and fixed the problem enough to get home. Thank you. Merry Christmas! Subscribing my good sir!
Thanks for posting this up. Mine wouldn't go into gear the other day so I ripped it apart and was driving around the past few days pulling the cable by hand. Looks like I can buy the grommet and knock it out in a few minutes! Thanks!
So me today! Glad to know i don't have to spend 40+ dollars on a cable just to get the grommet. My gf literally jinxed me complaining about me shifting so fast lol. Ill be back at it again soon thasos to this video

@@ChutneyInc. Asiba The Buffalo Soldier 1 second ago .I just need a grommet but the dealer tells me that I have to buy -a whole cable @ over 300 dollars
Mahalo Roy! Fixed mine today and took about an hour (most time was for me to get my fat fingers through the small space under the shifter to get it lined up on the shifter's pin). Ended up pulling the shifter cable out further so that I could see it better from the top and line it up that way. Thanks again, you saved me a ton of money!
.I just need a grommet but the dealer tells me that I have to buy -a whole cable @ over 300 dollars- worst yet, they have to order it and it will take 6 weeks
Good job . I have a 2011 pathfinder that had a bad solenoid and relay. When I pulled the cable off the grommet was toast. The plastic is different but the linkage is about the same. This helped alot.
This might have just saved me big time on my 07 frontier. My shifter went loose and I thought I was gonna have to do some major work on it, but this is such a simple fix.
I was looking in my garage for a tool (cotter pin tool) to remove the shifter cover when I tripped over my laminate flooring wedge! I worked perfect. I knew there was a reason I left that on the floor a few years ago!
Thanks Roy I used the pry par to take the plastic cover off the top and the cotter pin puller to remove the shifter handle but I needed more tools in the box so this was a good excuse to add rhem. It took me about an hour and between this and another guys video I was able to get it done no problem. Thanks again a mechanic would have cost me a fortune.
Thanks for the help. It went well with the exception of the little plastic tool they ship with bushing, it boogered up pretty quickly and wound up using a small screwdriver to push the rest of the bushing in on my 2006 Frontier.
Grape video on how 2 replace the shift grommet on a 2008 Nissan Frontier. Better than the other 1 we watched as he didn't show how 2 remove control cover r 2 replace same. 👍👍👍
Hi Roy... so greatful for you... i got the grommet back on and snapped in place but can not seem to get the part lined up to clip it back in. Im not sure what im doung wrong. But if the grommet is in place it should at least start now right? Thank you for all your hard work and teachings!
Also the plastic gear selector cover can be released with a flat head or pocket knife instead of the cotterpin puller. And the c- clip can be removed by hand. I figured all this out when i arrived at work today. This video shows me that i can get the kit i see on Ebay for 24$ instead pid the whole cable for 45$
