  • This a common problem on older Club Cars especially on a fleet that gets a lot of use. The sure fire way to fix them is to replace the whole complete brake and gas pedal assembly if you want to spend about $400 for the part. Or you can buy just the Pawl assembly for about $50

    great video, i have hill brakes that are getting stuck, 2008 precedents. it seems like its the little gizmo on the bottom of the pedal. can i just take it off and dress them up, everything seems to be moving freely except that

    My problem is the hill brake wants to engage every time I press the brake even lightly. I tried adjusting the cable but if I tighten it enough so the hill brake doesn't come on then the brakes drag. 06 Club Car Precident.

      GO BACK TO BASICS lot's of times I have seen either 1 or both of the cables are rusted, or damaged and will not release. If so replace them. Are you adjusting them correctly? Make sure the foot brake is loose,THEN adjust each rear wheel separately so there is just enough drag, THEN adjust the foot brake . Of coerce it goes without saying that the shoes and drums are in good shape .

    What do you find when the brakes lock up intermittently. Once in a while. I did tighten the axle U-bolts which was loose.
    Would you say weak springs on the shoes?

      start from the beginning , with back wheels off the ground, and E brake off the rear wheels should turn freely, next pull the drums off and inspect the shoes, lots of times people put them on backwards, replace any worn out parts, with e-brake backed off adjust the shoes till you have a light drag, then adjust the e-brake tension and road test

    Hey there. My parking brake only works when I reverse park my golf cart on a Hill. If I face the front end up the hill it rolls backwards. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks!

      I would start by taking the drums off and inspecting the brakes, then make sure they are adjusted properly, and the 2 brake cables are good, Then your hill brake pawl assembly should be inspected. When they get old they fall apart, and only work part time .

    On a different note, have a CC that has erratic speed on the low end, starting to move .. solenoid?

      sorry for the late reply / check the basics first / battery connections both visual, and give all cables a good shake, be surprised how many times they look good BUT fall of the battery, even though voltage is up a good idea is to use a load tester on each battery, / also do your self a favour and check the 4 wires that go to the drive motor, lots of times they are ready to fall off. Yes a solenoid is possible / But I have never replaced one, This sounds like a Morcor, /But I would first check the speed sensor . / I did not have the luxury of all the diagnostic equipment that a factory Club Car technician has, so before I would order anything expensive try and rule out all the basic's 1st/ or if you are lucky try to swap with a known good item to try.

    Can you buy the pin that is press fitted into the assembly?

    • @davidandsuzy2516
      @davidandsuzy2516  2 роки тому

      Pretty sure that you cannot buy it, I do so many that I always save a couple of useable parts

      @@davidandsuzy2516 yes on my cart there is a groove wore into the pin that the pawl assembly contacts. I drove the pin out of the casting but cant find the part. Is it possible to just turn it over or does the flat part of pin have to be in same position?

    • @davidandsuzy2516
      @davidandsuzy2516  2 роки тому

      @@randallmiller7082 without seeing it , i am going to say no, that you would be better off buying a new pawl assembly. The reason I say that is because for it to latch there is a spring loaded tab that rests up a round pin . That tab on the pawl assembly is a wear item, and is most likely worn out.

      I have never been able to/ they want you to buy the whole assembly
