I have a 2001 DS and if you follow this video it will not be able to be installed nor will it work. In the video, the micro switch on the brake pedal needs to be flipped 180 degrees so the switch is on top of the push rod. The reason is so when the parking brake is applied it will open the switch and shut off the brake lights. The bracket underneath need two more holes to position it over the brake lever. This needs to be positioned so the micro switch is pushed in when no brake is applied. This was wired NO and needs to be wired to NC. Then when you press the brake, the lever comes off the bottom switch, the switch will close and turn on the brake lights. Then if you apply the parking brake the top switch opens from the push rod. Then all will work good!! (Brake lights off when driving, on when brake applied, off when parking brake applied).
I have a 2002 DS and I recently purchased light kit part number LGT-605LT3B2. I cannot get the brake lights to work. I have tested the microswitch and it is good. I have also removed the wires from the microswitch and touched them together, still nothing. I have made sure that the footbrake switch was off and hooked up correctly. I did just as a test put on the parking brake and still nothing. I have noticed that with the running lights off, that when I pull back on the turn signal arm to flash the front lights that the brake lights also come on at the same time. Am I missing something here? Everything else seems to work fine.
With the turn signal installed, make sure you have the LGT-590 relay harness installed instead of the push-pull switch. Also make sure all of the pins in the turn signal are tightly connected inside the connectors so they are making good contact. If that doesn't work, try removing the turn signal from the equation. When you do this, reinstall the push-pull switch and the 9-pin jumper that was installed at the turn signal. Set the jumper for use with a brake switch and no turn signal. It will be labeled.
@@GolfCartInstructions Got the brake lights working now, and everything else works fine now. The only thing now is when I pull back on the turn signal to flash the headlights, The brake lights come on as well as the head lights.
Thanks Roy! We have a similar kit for the TXT, LGT-163. This includes a time delay and micro switch. rhox.us/pc_product_detail.asp?key=EF0DC67A51A94541A509819D30953807
Hi Roy. You would want an LGT-163 (B5) brake switch for an E-Z-Go TXT. This option will include the time delay but it is better fit for the TXT vs. the DS. We also offer brake pad options. The LGT-138 is a universal fit. The LGT-B10 is an OE fit. These operate when the operator's foot is pressed on the pedal/pad so they do not have a time delay.
It can be purchased through any authorized RHOX dealer. If you submit a form on our contact us page, I can email you some to choose from. rhox.us/contact_us.asp

@@GolfCartInstructions I was able to get the switch. Is the red wire with black stripe supposed to line up with the red wire with black stripe on the deluxe light kit? Because mine do not. The wires coming off of the connector are not in the same configuration
@@isleseven To connect the brake switch to the deluxe harness, all you have to do is plug in the white connectors. The black ground wire is not used. I would install it the way it is wired out of the bag. If you have trouble after that, we can troubleshoot it. do you sell replacement wiring?
We sell replacement plug and play harnesses for the entire light kit but not replacement wiring for the actual brake switch.
