@@JustK4Y1512 well Voyager are literally my favourite Eurovision act ever and love plenty of rock acts in the contest but I don't like Doomsday Blue, there are captivating parts but not enough to make me like it overall.

Bambie is loved in Ireland, except for a small group of religious folk, who petitioned the Irish Prime Minister to ban Bambie from entering the contest. Bambie is clever, sweet and funny and can charm anyone.
I live in Ireland and I never heard that. They must be a very small group.

Whether we win or not this year. I’m just glad Ireland finally took a risk and sent something that will actually stand out amongst the crowd. We haven’t made the final since 2016. Hopefully this’ll be the year we make it back

either Bambie kicked open the doors for metal/risky artists to represent Ireland at ESC, or Ireland won't know what to do in the next editions and they will succumb to the old basic pop entries they 've been sending for years. But i really hope Bambie Thug gave them a lesson and helped them understand that the rest of the world wants to see a proper show on that stage. I voted for Bambie and i'm so happy they finished in top 10. Although i believe they deserved to be in top 5 but you can't have it all.

Many, many thanks for giving 'Doomsday Blue' the kind of insightful musical analysis it deserves. Bambie Thug's song broke the tiny minds of all the other Eurovision commentators.
Ireland is about the last country i expected to send something like this, kinda like Iceland sending Hatari in 2019. I guess it goes to show, if you wanna try something different in Eurovision, go with goth. lol
But this is one of my favorites this year and i kinda like the mood whiplash between the crazy chants and then the, like, old Hollywood singing in the rain type drop for the chorus
Ireland basically invented Halloween as we know it, the author of Dracula was Irish and our folklore is full of banshees and evil faeries. We should be the first country to send something like this.

They’ve already been killing the pre party red carpet in Madrid and had a very strong live performance there too. Oh, for Alex, perhaps he could check out some of Bambie’s other songs like Tsunami or Egregore, they’re a bit heavier.

My initial reaction to this was ‘o_O’ but in time this snuck up to my top 10.
Their Madrid live performance felt like really cool theatre. Love the background sounds behind the poppy parts.

I can't believe how underrated this song is among the Eurovision fans. I think it's still way better than the summer-hit style pop radio songs in Eurovision. I hope she will create a unique ambiance that this song totally deserves on the stage.

I think I've more or less agreed with all of your collective takes so far. As a complete package, I really do think this is one of the most interesting entries this year and I'd love to see it qualify to the final. As far as what I listen to, though, it's probably not something I prioritize, if I'm being honest (definitely *not* because I'm looking for something harder!). Love the risk Ireland is taking, and I rate this *high* as an artistic endeavor!

As a fellow Aussie who loves metal and pagan themes in my music, I really appreciate your analysis Voyager folks. Even if the phrase “doomsday durries” is now stuck in my head. I think Bambie Thug is a breath of fresh air, they’re so musically creative and the official video clip has a lot of humour woven in between the dark themes. My favourites for the Grand Final are Gåte and Bambie Thug. 🤗
I did enjoy this one. It's always nice when musicians support one another. Thanks for making noises down in Canberra at the Basement a few years ago, too - much appreciated; very enjoyable and lots of fun on the night. Danny, all the best to you, mate.
I really really love this. This is the stuff my kids and I listen to anyway - and it so clever. And Ireland sent something on the pagan side - so finally they are embracing their own culture. I was just happy to see they didn't send beige. The international jury wanted to send the boy band but the people and the Irish jury loved this and I'm so glad. I love your review of this. It's nice to see an intelligent take on this. Worried that Veronika might compete with it and that's more main stream.
PS well done for doing enough research to know Bambie is a they-them and then putting them in the same category as Switzerland (my other favourite).
